Ian Groden loves his life. He's happily married to the most wonderful man in the world. His career as the CEO of a thriving family business is right on track. He's got it all. Ian is a man with a secret, however. He appears in control, but in reality, he'd rather let go and put his longings and physical pleasure in the hands of another. Being a submissive is utterly tantalizing and allows Ian to live out his every sexual whim without reservation or guilt.
Taren Murdoch is the man who fulfills Ian's needs. He's Ian's husband, Dom, and protector. It's Taren who doles out the pain Ian craves. There's another side to that coin and that is to ensure the pain is never too much for Ian. Taren turns Ian's pain into pleasure, a job that sometimes takes planning and creativity.
Ian and Taren have taken a break from their everyday lives and are enjoying a trip where they can indulge in their fantasies. It's rare Ian has the freedom to spend day and night submitting to Taren. Will Taren be able to make sure he and Ian enjoy this dream vacation as much as they hope?
The ongoing story of Ian and Taren in Elizabeth Noble’s sensual and erotic Pain and Pleasure series continues in The Freedom of Submission. The first two novelettes in the story line set the stage for the events in this one, so you’ll need to read them first. If you’ve missed them, dive right in and you’ll see why I’m enjoying this series so much!
Both Ian and Taren have high pressure jobs, and they revel in their off hours where they can embrace their roles as Dominant and submissive. Finally setting off on their highly anticipated vacation to an exclusive BDSM retreat, the couple plans to fully immerse themselves in a twenty-four-seven D/s relationship.
We get to know these characters in a unique and very interesting way. Home Coming is told from Ian’s point of view, and we get to see his reactions to everything he’s experiencing. As the series progresses, I’m enjoying watching this powerful man let everything go, and his responses as he revels in his submission are extremely erotic and very intimate.
Events continue in The Art of Domination, where we see what motivates Taren. Delightfully sadistic and incredibly dominant, Taren is thoroughly devoted to fulfilling his submissive’s needs. Making all the arrangements for their upcoming holiday, preparing Ian for the events to come, and getting them both in the proper headspace is all the gratification Taren needs… for the moment.
Stopping off for the night on their way to the retreat, the couple indulge in a romantic dinner where Taren continues to torment his husband. Told from Ian’s point of view, Elizabeth Noble explores how the different ministrations affect him. A masochist through and through, we see intimately how Ian’s body responds to his Dom’s attention. In addition, Ian delights in pleasing his Dom, and his satisfaction over Taren’s reactions are clear.
There’s no doubt about how much Taren enjoys performing the sadistic activities, but beyond his physical responses, the love the couple share shines through in The Freedom of Submission. It’s clear that their mutual desire, respect, and admiration is the foundation of their relationship. Intimate and incredibly erotic, I’m looking forward to seeing what happens when the couple arrives at the BDSM retreat!
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for a review. This is the first book by Elizabeth Noble I've read and I now have a new favorite author. Ian is CEO of a company but is a submissive. Taren is his husband and a Dom who dishes out the pain and the comfort afterwards. Taking a holiday they have the opportunity to indulge in their Dom/sub roles on a continuous basis day and night and look at different ways they can enhance their relationship. I love this author and will definitely read more.
This review is the same for all five books as they are five parts to a complete story.
I guess technically each part could be read as a stand alone because some information was repeated in each book but they are better read in order as it is a continuing story.
Each book is extremely short and a very quick read. I read all five in a couple hours.
Highly recommend.
I received an arc from the author and this is my honest review.
Ugh, I really shouldn't be so invested in a fictional character's relationship as much as I am, but I really love how Ian and Taren interact with each other. Being the third book in the Pain and Pleasure short stories by Elizabeth Noble, we continue to read yet another spicy but sweet scene between the married couple. Elizabeth's writing is sensual with the perfect amount of erotica to entice anyone interested in reading about BDSM or Dom/Sub relationships. You could easily tell how much they care and love the other with the amount of trust they put in their significant other through their Dom/Sub play. Truly a lovely short series to feast upon, but beware, this is a strickly an 18+ age story!
If you’re curious about a non-traditional lifestyle, this series is a wonderful exploration of a committed, passionate D/s relationship. Noble has a way of making the reader feel like they are a part of the story - not watching it, but experiencing it. Sometimes planning a vacation is as much fun as the vacation. Noble has a way of putting the reader into the center of the action. Her description allow you to see and feel exactly what is happening
Freedom of Submission is part 3 and covers the evening of the day the vacation starts and the morning of the next day for Ian to get some body jewelry rather than a nipple piercing. Again, short and explicit.
