She thinks of him as a friend. He's loved her since high school.
She's holding on to the past. He's worked hard to overcome his.
Brooks knew better than to fall in love with Jaclyn. She's a trust fund kid, and he's from the wrong side of the tracks. Guys like him never end up with girls like her. His head understood the rules. His heart was another story.
I'm a Georgia girl at heart if not by birth. I love to read, watch college football, and spend time with my husband. I'm a hopeless romantic so there will always be a happily ever after in my stories. I also like to write about second chances because love doesn't always work out the first time.
Jaclyn isn’t your typical billionaire – in fact, it’s really easy to forget that she is one. Down to earth and unpretentious, her warm personality wraps around you like a hug. It’s not hard to see why Brooks fell in love with her so many years ago & hasn’t quit loving her yet. I grinned pretty much every time she was on the page because I genuinely liked her as a character.
Brooks is equally as likable – a swoony sweetheart with a southern drawl who has fought hard to overcome a lot of odds stacked against him. He may be from ‘the other side of the tracks’ as Jaclyn but theirs is a friendship forged on what they have in common & how they complement each other’s differences. Both of these multidimensional characters will claim your heart early on in the story.
Bottom Line: The writing in A Love So True is easy to follow with a smooth flow and steady pace, and the characters are layered and engaging. From the prologue ‘meet cute’ to their reuniting unexpectedly 14 years later & everything that unfolds from there, the story holds your attention and keeps you invested in the outcome. While this is the 3rd in a series, it’s ok to stand alone – though you’ll meet some characters in this book whose stories you’ll want to discover in the previous books. A light read that will make your heart smile!
(I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited.)
This billionaire story features a wealthy female--Jaclyn--but no one would ever guess that's she's mega rich. It's more of an afterthought, as she makes her own living and works hard doing what she loves.
Brooks and Jaclyn were from very opposite sides of the tracks in high school, but they were exactly what each other needed, and I loved watching this couple reconnect after years apart, living very different lives. Their opposite ways are also quite apparent in their feelings of the past and I enjoyed watching them strike a balance with their feelings and relationship as they navigate this friendship renewal.
I love a story that can take two characters and mesh them into a perfect harmonious duet. Their personalities and strengths complement each other in ways that merge them into an ultimate and lovable couple. Life isn't easy and the struggles these two wade through are both realistic and heart-engaging. My sympathy chord was struck, and I found this story uplifting and sweet, to go along with that tinge of heartache.

The story follows Jacyln and Brooks, two high school friends who meet after a long time. Brooks, who is a deputy now and Jacyln is a nanny. After going through some sorrowful experiences, Jacyln arrives in Sawgrass and continues her job as a nanny. She quickly reunites with Brooks and sparkling something that was amiss in her life.
Brooks always had feelings for her but never voiced them to Jacyln. A lot has changed over the past few years but not his love for the girl he fell in love with. Through deep conversations about happiness, loss, sorrows and jovial reminiscences, they begin to understand each other a lot more closely.
But like any other story theirs was also filled with unexpected twists. Will Brooks and Jacyln finally confess that their relationship was more than friendship?
This was such a sweet, heart warming story that made me feel all joys of love. I loved both the protagonist especially Brooks, he made me swoon over his caring and charming personality. Jacyln’s character was well done as well, her generosity and lovable traits complemented Brooks’s character beautifully.
Their story in addition to the involvement of other characters made this book more memorable because it is one thing when the story is focused on the lead characters and completely another when the side characters are are progressively involved thus making it a wholesome story line. And the twist that was introduced by the middle of the novel was an unexpected but welcoming turn of event.
Last but not the least, A love so true was a delightful read and I’d definitely recommend it to love to read cosy romance.
I was sent a copy of this book for review purposes. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
First of all, this is a clean romance with nothing offensive in it. Also, this is a novella as opposed to a more involved and much longer novel. Moreover, this is the third book in the series, and while it is a standalone book, I kept wondering if I would have had a much richer experience with this book had I read the other two books.
I am pleased to give this book a 3.5 star rating. In truth, this is not an overly negative rating for this book. The strength of the book is that it is a short book that can be read in one sitting, but that can also be a weakness. I never found myself overly invested in the characters, and I prefer romances where I feel like I know the characters somewhat well. Sadly, I never got to that point in this book, but that could be just a personal preference.
Interestingly enough, I would like to add a little something to this review that I rarely do in these kinds of situations. As I read this book, I was intrigued by the extensive and well-written dialogue, and the thought occurred to me that this book would make a better screenplay, and I feel that if it was properly cast, this would make a fun rom-com. Just a personal preference of mine. This author truly does understand how to move the story along through the use of dialogue!
After finishing Keeper of Her Heart I knew I had to start A Love So True since I wasn't ready to say goodbye to some of the characters yet, was intrigued by Jaclyn's past, and figured I could avoid the risk of forgetting some of the characters' backgrounds from previous stories. It all definitely paid off, and I definitely enjoyed getting to know both Jaclyn and Brooks. My heart definitely went out to him for his unrequited love for her since way back when as well as all the suffering he went through growing up; and in her case, for the pain she went through when losing her past relationship. I liked how the drama came to be, and kinda figured it out a bit before Brooks, but it all definitely had me hooked. I loved Jaclyn's journey of falling in love with Brooks and all he stands for as a Deputy, as well as getting to know her background and how she came to work as a nanny. I loved the chance to visit past characters like Graham and his family as well as Liam. :) Oh, and while it seemed Brooks and Jaclyn went "kissing first, talk about things and their relationship status later", I think it all played out well in the end.
Liz Krane did a great job with this one too, bringing every character to life with her performance. As always, the peeks of having the same narrator for the series is the continuity of the recurring characters' voices, and this one did not disappoint. Now, what pulled me a bit out of the story was the fact that Graham's name sounded like "Gram" most of the time. Also, as a personal note, it took me the first half of the book to associate the name Brooks with the main male character since my brain tends to more easily associate "Brooke" with a female name. Still, in the grand scheme of things, these are kinda minor things (and one's on me) so I still got to enjoy her skills in bringing to life both male and female characters (be them young or old, since I loved Reed and Brooks' uncle), as well as their different emotions (from shock to pain, being emotional, angry or even happy and in love, she nailed all of them).
Overall, a perfect continuation of this Sweet Romance series that can also be enjoyed on its own. However, thanks to my having read two books in a row from the same series, coupled with all the talk about fate, I'm still on the fence about picking up the next book. ~ 4.5 stars
I love the cover for this book - it's such a perfect fit for the story!
I've liked Jaclyn from the beginning of this series. She's smart, independent & down to earth - despite her family's wealth, she's caring & considerate instead of being full of herself.
I liked Brooks even more. He was a sweet guy who overcame so much to become such an impressive man despite his challenging circumstances.
You might think that this is going to be a poor guy/rich girl trope, but I love that it's not even really on Brooks' radar. They actually both share difficult family backgrounds & upbringings despite how money defined their situations so oppositely.
The story was really well done. It starts at a mellow pace (but not slow), which fits our intro to the protagonists & their contentment with their lives as they are. Things pick up when they meet again, & I was quickly drawn in to their story and all the feels, such that I didn't put it down until it was finished!
The way they ended up together was written so believably & poignantly. I loved how the ending had brought them full circle from the prologue. I still have a dopey smile on my face even now, lol.
Well, I fell in love with this story wholeheartedly! This was the first novel that I have read by this author, but now I plan to definitely read more. Even though this is the third book in the series, I had no trouble jumping right in and understanding the story.
I absolutely loved that Brooks has been in love with Jaclyn since they met in high school. He was afraid to ruin their friendship back then by letting her know about his feelings and now that they have reconnected, he continues to keep his love hidden because her heart still yearns for her deceased fiance’.
It was so touching to watch how their friendship and connection jumped right back into being so important to both of them. Then, when love between them became a real possibility, the author handled it in a way that I felt was very accurate. Jaclyn had these new feelings for Brooks and yet he was still her best friend. It was incredibly romantic!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this clean, girl next door, high school sweethearts type story. It is my first time reading a book by Delaney Cameron, and I liked her writing style 😊. It is the third book in her Billionaires of Sawgrass series, but I had no trouble understanding the storyline; so, it can be read as a standalone.
Both Jaclyn and Brooks were well laid out characters, and their thought processes were realistic and appropriately fit the situation. I liked Jaclyn’s loyalty and her heart for helping others. She sounds a lot like someone I know. Brooks, I think was a bit more complex, he resembles the strong silent/shy type personality, yet get him around Jaclyn and he becomes a social butterfly. I enjoyed their interactions together, and their characters in general, they were very relatable.
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars for the cute storyline, girl next door style, and the great environmental descriptions.

Great falling in love a little more each day kind of story
Another great story by this author. I loved Brooks character. He really was patient and kind even when he thought he had no chance of winning Jaclyn‘s affection. Jaclyn was very rich but didn’t live on her wealth. In fact I would say this is the least “billionaire” story I have ever read. There was no hit of anything extravagant or spurges on her part. It almost seemed like an afterthought to say ‘oh and she is a billionaire’. Working as a nanny and living in an apartment over the garage made her seem normal. But regardless, I loved the story. The change in her that came with letting Eli go and coming to terms with everything was moving. Great story. Rating: PG, clean, only kissing
I have read all three of these books, and I am certainly hoping for more, because these books have touched my heart. Especially this one.
Brooks fell in love with the girl who befriended him in high school. Jaclyn was his first love. Separating at graduation was excruciating, but their lives were meant for different paths.
But then, fourteen years later, there she was. Her laugh enthralled him, her beauty astounded him, and his heart began to beat again.
An absolutely lovely story. Brooks is as patient as a saint. He has character and strength and integrity. Jaclyn is also strong, but maybe not in the best ways. Being strong willed about refusing to entertain the idea of dating after a 10 month relationship (girl, no) ends is one of those times. But then again, it kept her single until she ran into Brooks again!
This book had all the feels and then some. I was wondering how Brooks was going to share his heart, and it was perfect.
This is such a heart-warming love story. Brooks is the epitome of the perfect man. Jaclyn is also a truly refreshing example of a very caring friend to everyone. They are both so down to earth. The characters are all well-developed. It is easy to feel their emotions. The story flows well from chapter to chapter and is easy to follow along. I highly recommend this book to all those who enjoy a great clean romance.
This was.such a.sweet and enjoyable read. The characters were loveable and the kind.of personalities that you would want for friends. Two high school friends go their separate ways and 15 years later are reunited. There is a lot packed in this story and you won't be able to put it down.
Have been friends for ever and ever amen. Brooks was a service vet from Afghanistan and Iraq. He had a service dog that was retired when he came home and was able to adopt him. Jacqlyn and Brooks lives took them to different places and lives after high school. And now………… Start reading and don’t put it down. You’ll be glad you kept right on reading. Enjoy.
Short read. Sweet story. Brooks was exactly what one would think a sheriff should be. Interesting Twist with cousin make the story a little unique, but maybe a little unbelievable. Enjoyed it!
A great second chance love story. I love that their friendship has lasted so long and they are the same with each other as in high school even though they haven't seen each other in years. The little mystery was nice and i loved the ending!
Brooks has been in love with Jaclyn since high school. She was his only friend even if she was a trust fund kid and his father was in prison. When they meet again, can Brook finally have her heart or will they remain friends? a sweet love story and great audiobook.
The billionaire of the title is Jaclyn Dunwoody, who has turned her back on her family's expectations to be a... nanny. She fell in love once, became engaged to a man who died tragically, and has given up on ever falling on love again. Brooks Fanning is a deputy, a high school classmate of Jaclyn's who came from a very different background. Even while the other students treated him badly, Jaclyn stood by as his friend. Years later, a chance brings them together. Jaclyn is trapped in the temple she built to mourn and pay homage to her deceased fiance, and Brooks has never loved any woman except Jaclyn. A cruel coincidence opens Jaclyn's eyes to an ugly deception and she blames Brooks for telling her about it. However, Brooks stands firm, and Jaclyn investigates only to find that Brooks is telling the truth. She makes her peace with it and then realizes that she has loved him all along. There is an HEA here, but Jaclyn is probably the least strong of all of Cameron's leading ladies. She comes off as wishy-washy, as opposed to determined. Still a good story, though.
Despite the fact that Jaclyn is a bit unreasonably hung up on her former, and a bit clueless about Brooks, I enjoyed this third installment of the Sawgrass series. Now, we didn’t get to see Jaclyn and Eli together, but the fact that she couldn’t share her fears or misgivings with him about his extreme sporting - that threw me off that relationship to begin with. And maybe Brooks was a little on the “too good to be true” side, but he had his struggles and flaws too. I was rooting for Brooks the whole time! Yay for happy endings. I do love that we get a little extra time with Cameron’s characters after the ILYs are traded.
2021/1/4: I’d give it a 3-star rating this time around because it’s just a little too sugary sweet for me. But it is clean with an HEA, the way I like my romances, so I’ll leave it for now.
