In desperate need of a life make-over after a terrible divorce and at the urging of her therapist, librarian Mallory Cruise signs up to coach her daughter’s recreational softball team, even though she doesn’t have an athletic bone in her body.
The problem is there’s only one available position, and Jason Henry, a widowed jock popular among the single ladies, wants it.
It leaves only one option: to coach the team—together.
It’s not long before Mallory’s lack of skills leaves her to fall afoul to a group of softball moms ready to tie her to the fence during batting practice. She’s positive Jason would celebrate her demise. Yet in an unexpected play, he saves her. And during afternoon backyard practices, evening home-cooked meals, and overnight home runs, they learn the importance of opening their hearts again.
But when countless women flaunt themselves at Jason, and Mallory’s insecurities rise, she must learn that love can’t exist without trust before misunderstandings and misconceptions make her strike out at love.
Crystal spends her days caring for the sick as a registered nurse and her nights chasing happy ever afters. Somewhere in between she finds time to feed her kids, dogs, chickens, and Churro, the rabbit. When she's not tending her zoo, she finds pleasure--and sanity--in deep conversations, coffee, and coloring outside the lines.
Several years ago, she was diagnosed with two rare conditions, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and a Chiari Malformation, which led to multiple surgeries, including one on her brain. Shortly after, her then 7-year-old son had open heart surgery. It helped her realize life is short, and she should do what makes her happy.
Writing makes her happy.

A jock and a librarian coaching together!? How is that even possible!?
Love and Fast Pitch is the second novel I have read from Crystal Estell, and I am absolutely loving her as an author.
Mallory and Jason, both single parents, just trying to find a new normal for them and their kids. Mallory has recently gone through a divorce, and Jason has lost his wife to an early demise.
Neither is ready for a new relationship, but Jason has no qualms about enjoying the physical company of the opposite sex. He's good looking and he knows it - which can translate into cocky and rude.
Mallory is looking to bond with her daughter and softball seems the perfect new adventure for mother and daughter to embark on (even though she has absolutely no experience), so when it turns out there is only one coaching position, and two applicants, Mallory is not ready to give up.
And although they both despise each other, they must work together or ruin the season for the whole team. However working together in close proximity comes with its own risks, namely attraction.
This is such a cute story. I absolutely loved the characters Jason and Mallory, and their children characters are also so amazing and so lovable, you just want everything to work out. Its a lighthearted and quick read.

As a former softball player who started in rec ball, can I just say I loved this book? The details of the games and the parents took me back to my childhood. A jock and a librarian coaching together? What a set-up for some funny moments! But for those of you who like touching moments, there are those too. Other than wishing it lasted longer, I would say Crystal delivered in yet another great book! Highly recommend!
This book was so cute and had plenty of funny moments. It's lighthearted, quick read-perfect for anyone looking for a not so serious read. I love the concept of a librarian trying to coach a recreational softball team when she's never played softball before.
A fast and cute read. Two single parents doing the best they can with their daughters. Throw in some drama, a playboy and lots of softball and you have a fun story. My first book from this author and it won;t be the last!!
Jason and Mallory are thrown together as they both find themselves as co=coaches for a softball team. Mallory is in over her head, but the sport thing can be worked out, the relationship with Jason is a different story. Readers who like cozy romance will enjoy this story.
