I will admit that I have not done table top fantasy role playing since I was at Uni and that is very much in the dim and distant past. However I always keep an eye on it rather than many of us do over past hobbies.

So I have to admit it rather piqued my interest when I saw a reference to this book and the wealth of material it contains (primarily of course for setting and running horror games in this universal game system) a lot of material on creating horror stories.

Now I guess the genre is one that is all too easily dismissed - however in doing so you are missing a wealth of material that all too often is either over looked or re-categorised to sanitise its appeal. For example horror also include suspense and terror neither of which require a drop of blood to be split - and there is also its near cousin thrillers and mystery.

As the original author of the article said this book contains a wealth of material which would appeal to the fan, writer, player and scholar - and I have to agree. Yes it is rather dated and obviously written for a reason but still it is an interesting read.
