Sizzling sparks from the start
The captain of this firefighting crew has always been intriguing to me. He has a lot to deal with and handles things with a firm hand and a warm heart.While this story is Book 5 in the series, it can stand alone.
Rosa sounds like an amazing high school English teacher and takes her role serious enough to approach the formidable fire captain about his son, who is a struggling student in her class. There were enough sparks from just that one meeting to call out the entire fire brigade! There is a big age gap between this couple, but that doesn't stop an instantaneous romance from combusting.
While there is a lot to engage and celebrate with this story, I was bugged by how extreme Rosa took things when she felt a threat to her job. Although it's completely understandable and needed for a critical conflict/resolution to the story, I expected more from a mature woman. She definitely feels and feels big. I also wished to have the crew a little more a part of the Captain's story. Characters with intense feelings make me feel a part of the story, so I did appreciate how I was drawn in, which is probably why it bothered me in the first place.
Overall, this was a sweet escape with a beautiful winter setting and pleasant characters.

The Captain gets his happy ending!
Adam, the captain was widower going through some really hard times, including his son Trey entering a rebellious stage. Trey’s teacher Rosa does want to help her student but she needs Adam to do his part. The meet cute scene is funny, definitely not cute, but so perfect for this story. They immediately get off on the wrong foot. Little by little things change for them.
I love that Rosa takes classes to learn self defense. I loved her sassiness and that she didn’t back down from challenges. She went the extra mile for her students. There were some really emotional and touching scenes in the story due to the themes involved. I really made an emotional connection with the characters. I loved pebbles the cat!
Keep in mind all the books in this series can be read alone and you wouldn’t feel lost or out of the loop. That being said, it’s a great series and you can start with any book. In the previous books of this series the captain has been a bit of a mystery being some what of a loner. Honestly the captain hadn’t even been on my radar as far as interesting characters go (I’d been wanting to get to know Gage, the slacking rookie).
The ending was good, I just wish we were seeing it taking place a few months down the road for it to be believable to me.
Rating: PG, discusses: teen rebellion, abuse, suicide, teen drug use. Clean romance.

I knew that I would enjoy this book because I enjoy every book that Jewell Allen pens.
This is the first time I have read one that was co-authored and I wondered how it would be.
Saving The Captain I think had a little more Faith (but not much) as part of the story than the books that Jewell normally pens. At least that is what I took from it.
And, I think that is good.
Adam the hunky fireman is struggling with the death of his wife...how it happened... how he moves on with a teenage son...and how God plays/played into it.
Rosa our fun and cheerful high school teacher has also recently had a death in her family.
The two have some things in common.
There are quite a few characters that interweave into the story because they are apart of Adam and Rosa's separate lives.
The authors did a great job of introducing everyone and weaving in their parts of the story.

Saving the Captain is the fifth novella in the Jackson Hole Firefighter Series. It is a clean romance and is a stand-alone book. However, since many of the core players in this novella are also core players in most of the other books in the series, it is my opinion that you will enhance your reading experience by reading each book in the series in sequence.
Jennifer Youngblood's five-star review record from me remains intact, and this novella is my favorite in the series thus far. Adam and Rosa are outstanding protagonists. Their journey from their first meeting to their HEA conclusion could not be better crafted. Throughout series, Gage, a rebellious rookie firefighter, and the mayor's nephew is a thorn in the side of the fire department. I was impressed with the resolution of the problem with Gage. (You need to read the book to find out how.) I highly recommend this five-star novella to all my friends.

When Trey's father Adam doesn't show up for the parent teacher conference, Rosa goes to Trey's home to talk to Adam out of concern for Trey. Even though Adam reacts grumpily to Rosa, he finds himself attracted to a woman for the first time since his wife's death. Rosa is equally attracted but must not put her job in jeopardy. I received a free copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is a sweet and charming romance. There are interesting secondary characters in Trey, Alec, and Olive that make a nice addition to the story. I also enjoyed Rosa's trip home to see her family. Both Rosa and Adam are likable and realistic characters. I really like this book.

This is part of a series but can be spread as a stand-alone. Each book is written by a different author. This story follows the captain. I found it odd at first that there seemed to be more mention of the self-defence class he and his sister ran than there was anything about firefighting. But, later it becomes clear why that is. If you’re wanting to read a story all about firefighters in the line of duty, you might be disappointed in this one. But, if you are happy reading a sweet romance about a guy who happens to be a firefighter, you’ll enjoy this one. Lots of side stories going on. Fast-paced and likeable characters. I like this author’s writing style. I recommend it.

A sweet story with some tantalizing kisses. A widower meets his son's teacher and they immediately connect. But unwritten school rules and Adams memories of his deceased wife put a hold on their relationship. Once the semester is over and Adam can move forward totally a beautiful relationship can bloom. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.

Fun story of a feisty high school English teacher and a fire captain that is recovering from the loss of his wife. They both care deeply for his son, Trey. Their relationship sizzles as they struggle to balance careers and helping Trey overcome his depression. I love the importance of family and the teasing and fun between the main characters. This is a great series!

Sweet Romance
I loved Adam and Rosa’s story! I did not like all of the bullies. It was a little crazy that everyone told them they couldn’t date. And that nosey vice-principal and mean mayor. I was kinda hoping for them to have karma hit... I love Trey, he’s a great kid! Thanks for letting teachers be regular people and not the bad guy!

Yum. I love that he was enamored with her so completely. I was not happy with Rosa but I totally understood why she pushed him back. Anyway, both had deep scares this is a sweet love story. Saving seems to be an underlining basis of these books and more than one was involved in this one. I enjoyed her feisty Latin background and his yumminess.

Quick story with a little drama
The hot, widowed dad, firefighter Adam doesn’t think that he’ll ever love another woman. He doesn’t even think of dating...until he meets his son’s English teacher. The mutual attraction is palpable but dating the parent of a student is a firm NO for Rosa. A wee bit of drama but we get an HEA.

I really enjoyed how the skills learned in class were used to good effect. Appreciated Rosa's commitment and integrity in the face of "the rules", a tough call. Appreciated how Gage took the 'heat' off by choosing the next step himself. Lots of really good lessons in it. A good read

This sweet clean romance is a really fun read. Rosa Garcia is a feisty, strong High School English teacher that truly cares about her students. Adam Lockhart is a widower, captain of the Jackson Hole Wyoming Fire department and father to a troubled 15 year old, Trey. When Rosa stops by the Lockhardt home to offer to help Trey so he doesn't fail her class, sparks fly! DELIGHTFUL!

She was his son's teacher, he wanted to get to know her better. But that wasn't professional. Taking things slow to finish the semester is not always easy. I loved this book. Good clean romance.
