Manga creator ONE first created One-Punch Man as a web comic, where it quickly went viral, garnering over 10,000,000 hits! Along with One-Punch Man, ONE also writes and draws another series called Mob Psycho 100.
Best volume so far! But very little dispassionate dead-pan comedy as this volume continue the current theme of showing the reader just how good = lethal, the S Class heroes are. In this volume the Heroes Association launches an all-out attack on the Monster Association to cover up Kid Emperor's mission to rescue the hostage. And if that wasn't a wild enough ride the Bonus Punch features a deadly an untethered Zombieman. Tongue-in-cheek or not the creative team turn it up in this volume! 8 out of 12 Four Star read! 2024 read
200+ pages and Saitama's only appearance is on the cover. No primary characters appear. No secondary characters appear save one very brief cameo. There is only one joke. Instead we get a parade of tertiary characters we have zero investment in fighting random monsters we have even less investment in.
At least Murata's art remains fantastic, but it's clear ONE is getting less and less involved in this series as it progresses, to the point where the humor and charm that made OPM so compelling originally is now all-but undetectable.

EN Seriously, I love this series!
I honestly don’t understand why this manga isn’t more popular. In my opinion, it’s far better than some of the more mainstream titles like Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen. Of course, tastes vary from person to person, but I absolutely love everything about One-Punch Man.
From the charismatic and diverse cast of characters to the stunning, dynamic artwork, the series consistently delivers. The roster is full of unique and memorable heroes and villains, and the fight scenes are truly top-tier—beautifully choreographed and bursting with energy.
Even in this volume, we get to see two characters in action like never before, both of whom are absolutely fantastic.
OOOHHH so Child Emperor didn't just get the S-Class title because he is smart. He indeed has potential to be in much higher rank. He has some cool gears! I didn't expect it though.
What a pain for Child Emperor. He found a formidable opponent. OMG.
Okay. What if Child Emperor is right? Which I think he is since Gyoro had been telling Garou that by him dying many times, he can get stronger when he become Monster. Well that's unfortunate. Such a pain.
OMG What the heck. That phoenix resurrected! Well from the name Phoenix though. However, he upgraded to freaking disaster level Dragon. Speechless.
My gosh!! I hope Child Emperor still has something hidden up his sleeve. If nothing, he is done for.
Oh he does have a plan. Hope it works. He is still in a pinch..
Woah that phoenix evolved more and to think Child Emperor has no back up to help him. What a disaster.
Woah. That last attack from Child Emperor is epic. He really hides lots of ideas under his sleeve. Great great.
OMG!!!!! WTH!!! That phoenix is so persistent. How can he even die, I have no idea!
woAH... The only that works in the end is the frog. LOLLL..
OMMMMGGGGGG!!!!!!!!Saitama again!!! Water is leaking though so he is wet now. AAAWWWWWWW.. So cutie!!!
That fucking Waganma is evil!!!!!!!! They should have just let him die. FUCK THAT KID should GO TO HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ohhhh.. Now it's Zombieman's time to shine. Where is Saitama though.
OMG!!! Zombieman's skull!! WTH Is he still alive or are his abilities also give meaning to his name. OMG.
OMG HE FUCKING REVIVE!!! How can u even defeat an opponent like that. Dang Zombieman is sugoi!!!!!!!!!!! He heals quick too. Woah. S-Class are monsters, too!
With so many high class heroes taking the fight to the Monster Association's base of operations to save one victim we get to see some super impressive (and sometimes scary) displays of why they are the cream of the crop when talking about the best of the best heroes. Of course with Saitama lost he is no longer a character to be concerned about until his deadpan musings and all powerful punch will be needed giving so many heroes a chance to shine at last as they do what they do best. In fact this book shows us quite a few full page action scenes properly dedicated to the exploits of S class heroes showing monsters the folly of standing against them. However the final end boss is gaining information from each encounter as well so only time will tell how efetive these heroes leading the charge will be in the end game.
In this volume we also get to see a glimpse into the past of super fast ninja Flashy Flash and get to see how Child Emperor fights as a worthy opponent takes on the tech genius. However if you are reading this series for Saitama and don't care about amazing battle scenes then you can probably skip this volume since the closest you will get is that big old head on the cover. Speaking of the cover did any one else notice how front and back covers of the last few volumes were coming together like a collage or a mini poster? Well if you look in the bonus section of this book you can see the full picture the front and back of these books look like (though it would have been nice to have it in full color as opposed to being black and white.) :)
Oh man, this is an awesome volume. I mean, we all love these "base" attack arcs in both anime and manga. It is a very effective way of putting spotlight across all characters, which in this case, the Class S heroes and at the same time provides an avenue to just go crazy with badassery.
Volume 21 is mostly about Flashy Flash and Child Emperor, and a bit of Atomic Samurai. The fight scenes are topnotch in quality and execution. ONE made the readers sure what Class S heroes are capable of. He concretely drew the line in terms of power differences. And clearly, Class S heroes are on a league of their own.
I hope volume 22 continues all the fun with the other Class S heroes. Pig God and Puri-puri Prisoner please!
The A's and B's power demonstration is over, with the S class stepping up again the Demon threat levels. I did like the way Atomic was already done and asking his score. Kid emperor showing off his skills and triggering a Dragon threat. Goro continues to creep me out. No sign of Saitama and Co. Best bit was the end with Charanko trying to be cool and getting 1 upped. Looks like the fodder are done and the big matches are coming up.

Out of the gate: No Saitama in this one. This caused some consternation for other readers. I wasn't bothered: Child Emperor, Atomic Samurai and Flashy Flash all got some big set pieces and it provided plenty of action.
One critique said that this lacked some of the humor and charm of previous volumes. I can't really dispute that at face value other than to say that at 21 volumes in, maybe it's ok if it's evolving and telling a larger story. Maybe? I appreciated that in this large cast of characters, it gave room to some others to be showcased. We finally hone in on saving the child hostage, so that plot point is moving forward, but they don't get out of the woods in this one.
Still no sign of our hero!!! Is Saitama still alive? Did he get distracted by free food? Not even an appearance of Genos, Blizzard or King. The Flashy Flash was fun but the art made it impossible to tell what was going on at times. I am really starting to like the Child Emperor character. Like a sober Tony Stark, always has a toy or gadget ready to go. He also has the jaded seen everything bit down pat. Even though he is another hero losing his humanity, I think him and the spoiled kid could be friends if they don't die. That or he could be friends with the kid being saved by Garos. Good stuff, five stars but if Saitama does not show up soon I'm going to start docking points.
This was a solid volume. I like getting to see the Class S heroes shine more in this one, since the Class A heroes took center stage in the previous volume. I particularly like that we are getting to see more of Child Emperor he cracks me up. Not because he himself is funny but just the idea of this kid as a Class S hero amuses the hell out of me!
SI A IMPERATORINO. No al fatto che sto leggendo questa serie troppo in fretta… da un lato la vorrei divorare, dall’altro non voglio che finiscano i volumiii
Wow, another volume of One-Punch Man...without One-Punch Man even being in it.
The fights in this one are cool, I guess? But this arc is stretching on and on forever, and I really don't care about all these other heroes a lot. It's sort of hard to when we know nothing about them or their backgrounds, only their names.

once again i LOVE seeing the other heroes. like ofc WHERE IS CAPED BALDY but seeing ninja flash… and how fucking COLD he is. MR BEN 10 AMEN. GENIUS AND HIS FUCKING TECH. i am worried someone is gonna die at some point when they are fleshing them out…. but i know my goat saitama is safe
This was another great addition to the OP series. A lot of people are complaining that Saitama isn't in this volume and I don't see that as a problem. Its a nice touch to see how the Hero Association handles the situation and being able to see what the other hero's are capable of. I myself did not like the Flashy Flash until this volume. You get to see how badass he really is and why he is a Class-S hero. This volume shows you a side of the other hero's we haven't seen yet like Child Emperor who has a plethora of badass and funny gadgets at his disposal. So to all those cry baby's wipe your tears away and don't worry Saitama will come back sorry you can't handle character development and depth to the story. Thank you Netgalley for a digital copy in exchange for my honest review.
