Beauty in Flight #1-3

Beauty in Flight Box Set: The Complete Series

Rate this book
Harper Cloud used to love the gilded glamour of Las Vegas, but on the far side of prison, she sees the cracks in the veneer. These days, she keeps her head down and focuses on the elderly patients in her care. Even her new wealthy east-coast boyfriend, Derrick, can't entice her away. She's trusted men before, and look where that got her.

She tries to brush off the feeling that she's being watched. But when she's followed home one night and her pursuer gets within a hair's breadth of grabbing her, she knows it's time to get away from Las Vegas.

Maybe Derrick can be trusted. Maybe his job offer—to care for his aging grandfather in Maryland—will be the second chance she needs.
But Derrick has secrets of his own, secrets that could take him down--and take Harper with him.

Can there be a second chance for someone like her?

Book 2: Beauty in Hiding

Nutfield, New Hampshire, is as good a place as any to hide from the murderer Harper left behind in Maryland. All she has to do is lie low and make enough money to keep herself and Red alive until she can figure out who her enemies are.

Jack Rossi is mystified by his beautiful new tenant and her confused grandfather. Something's not right, but the love he sees between them and the care she takes of the old man convinces Jack they're trustworthy. As drawn as he is to Harper, she’s his tenant, so she’s off limits.

Derrick, Harper's ex-boyfriend and Red’s grandson, needs to find his grandfather and get his hands on the old man’s money before Derrick ends up with a bullet in the skull. And when he locates Harper, she’ll be sorry for what she’s put him through.

Harper and Jack grow closer, but so do her enemies. If the truth comes out, she may lose her freedom—or her life.

Book 3: Beauty in Battle

Harper doesn’t want to return to Maryland to face the police. The mess she left behind makes her look guilty of the worst, but it’s too late to run again. Red is safe and the authorities are waiting. At least Jack is by her side.

Now that Jack knows the truth, his feelings for Harper are deeper than ever. He’s not about to leave her side, especially knowing a killer is after her.

But Derrick is on their trail, and he’s come unhinged. And he may not be the biggest threat lurking.

Don't miss this exciting 3-book serial story. If you like strong heroines, swoon-worthy heroes, and a faith-filled message, you'll love the Beauty in Flight series.

After relocating to the Southwest, she started writing her first novel while she homeschooled her three children. The novel was dreadful, but her passion for storytelling didn’t wane. Audiobook (narrated by Becky Doughty)
I started with the first book in a series, Beauty in Flight, but I was completely hooked, so I switched to the repackaged three-book series, now entitled Beautiful Lies. I came to love Harper and Jack and had to know what would happen to them and Red.

Lies, Lies and More Lies … but it’s the truth that sets us free

Fear can cause people to do foolish things and Harper Cloud is one scared woman. You’d be scared too if you walked into the house and found two dead bodies on the floor with bullet holes in their head. But I digress, lets go back to the beginning. First you need to know this book has all three books of the ‘Beauty in Flight’ series. It begins with Harper’s tragic tale and carries us through a journey of betrayal, murder, deception and discovery. In all her trials and tribulations, and there are many, Harper learns what true faith is. She has been used, abused and discarded by too many, so trust in not in her vocabulary.

Book one grabbed my attention right away. It’s full of action, drama and emotion. It’s also full of loss and disappointment and love. No, not the romantic kind of love, not yet, but love of an elderly man who is being used and targeted for his money by his grandson, Derrick.

Book two has Harper on the run with Gramps. The only way she knows how to protect him is to go into hiding. Looking for a place where no-one else will think to look, she finds the little village of Nutfield, NH. It’s remote, cheap to live and safe. All is going good UNTIL Derrick finds them. Derrick is getting more and more desperate too. The loan shark he owes is breathing down his neck. He needs his grandfather’s money and fast.

Book three sets the stage for a verrrry interesting conclusion. With Derrick now in Nutfield, it’s time to run again, but Harper’s past catches up with her… in more ways than one. Her main objective is to keep gramps safe but it’s getting harder to do and Harper is being sought for questioning. Remember those dead bodies on the floor of the house (mentioned above)? Watching it all unfold is quite the ride…. Enjoy!

🤔HMMMMM…

✒︎ I love putting clues together and trying to guess where they lead. There were two people in Book One that stuck in the back of my mind… Coinendence? Maybe but…

✒︎'Connie’ … what is he all about, what is he up to?

✒︎ Quinten … surely his Waterloo is near

✒︎ Barry… Oh my heart…. Such a sad story

✒︎ Felt badly for Kieth’s wife and children but not for Keith. He sowed, he reaped.

After reading Book One in this series, ‘Beauty in Flight’, I was gifted a copy of this book and freely leave my review with my personal thought and opinions

Lovely to have the "whole" story in one book... even if this is three individual books that were combined into one. (It's better as one big one.) Third person voice which is comfortable to me. Perspective shifts between the characters but it's much more natural than first person POV and easy to keep track of who is "speaking". Fantastic editing & proofreading. No grammatical errors. No strange words or awkward sentence structure.

The ending was a bit of a surprize. I actually thought it was going to be an undercover investigator/body guard sent to keep an eye on Derrick's contacts/friends by Red or his lawyer after the first time Red paid off Derrick's gambling debts. (It wouldn't have been the first book to pull in a random & previously unknown character right at the end as the bad guy.) But.... it's not.

A very pleasant read that I knocked out in 2 days. Once you get engrossed in the story, it's hard to put it down.

I really enjoyed this series even though I took a break to listen to another couple from a new to me author. I went right back and continued this great story. I would highly recommend reading, or listening to it. Harper has had a lot of tough goes in her life. She seems to have a hard time picking the right guy and has come to the conclusion that men are just not for her especially after Derek was using her for her beauty and expected her to cater to his every whim. She was very happy that he connected her with Red-his grandpa, but little did she know his intent for his grandpa and their lives. He was a gambler and thought the next deal would get him out of trouble, but it only got him in deeper and jeopardized Harpers and Red's life. Derek was so desperate to get money he contemplated things a normal person would not. I don't want to share to give the story away. I really enjoyed listening to these books!

Harper thought her beauty would open the doors in Hollywood
Meeting the wrong men and too trusting was a problem
Without a lawyer she got railroaded and served her time
Meeting one and talking at night, she thought she knew him
Come take care of his grandfather, a new start
Till he too showed his true colors, how desperate he was
Murder, framing her, she figured it out and
With the grandfather she ran, was not easy
The plot is tense, the lies keep getting twisted
If truth came out, they wouldn’t believe her
Author gave a chilling account of one trying
to better herself, with faith and trust in others

Handy cliffhangers

When Harper has to take Gramps and run for their lives, hiding especially from Derrick, the grandson who is trying to kill Gramps for his inheritance to pay off his debt to a Vegas loan shark, who knew her new landlord would be such a kind and helpful -- and handsome -- man. This series is three books in one and it's a good thing because it would have been awful to have to wait for the next installment. It was a really good read. Robin Patchen does not disappoint.

Long. I thought I read this was a story told in two parts, but I guess I read that wrong. It’s good, but if I’d known how long it would take to read the whole thing, I probably would’ve skipped it. These days, shorter novels are my go-tos. The plot was pretty good—consistent, as far as I could tell. The characters were well crafted and easy to love, though they frustrated me at times. The spiritual thoughts were fairly solid, which I appreciated so much. And it was a clean read. If you enjoy three part stories which are clean, faith-based, and suspense romance, then check it out.

SO Good!

This story touched me SO deeply. Please read the whole series. They are such good stories. I know the plot twists are not on the level of James Patterson, but the stories are always good. I get tired of the twisted evil characters you have to read about in some stories, as well as so much foul language and perversion. This author can spin a really good tale without all that.

I will begin by saying you have to buy all three of these books to learn the full story. But I think it is worth the money (cheaper by buying the box set) because this is a great story. It is a super mystery (which I really love) & also has a love story within it. Ms. Patchen is one of my favorite authors. I have not read anything written by her that I have not liked.

oh Wow

How can people be so selfish thinking and doing I, I, I things to others over and over and over again. You have to read this book. Red was an awesome person but his grandson was selfish and all about self. Harper, bless her heart, didn’t always make wise decision, but she found Jesus. Read it now!!!!!!!’

Gripping

Beautiful Lies sparked my interest and kept me following. One of Patchen’s best. In some ways, the plot and characterization varied from the author’s other fine books. I’m processing the storyline which was exciting and intricate. The three-book division added to the package.

Dont miss this one!

Wonderful 3 books in 1 volume

Adventure, intrigue, surprises, romance, redemption, this volume of 3 has it all I couldn't put it down. Many of us struggle with believing we are good enough and trusting God when things get really tough, I love how Robin weaves this into Harper's story. God is faithful no matter what. You will love these 3 books!

This one started differently - I couldn't figure out what it had to do with Nutfield. But eventually we made it there through the different episodes Harper had with shady people. She had a hard time trusting people. But in Nutfield, she finally came to trust someone, and that led to her being free of her past.

This so far was probably my favorite book of hers. I like the things weren’t rushed throughout the book, but that it kept twisting and turning throughout the book. The writing that Robyn does truly does pull you in and I like that this book kept going. This was the book that I truly felt like kept me on my toes the most I don’t want to be a spoiler so I won’t but this is totally worth the read.

Such a good series. I found Robin Patchen while scrolling through Amazon kindle. I started reading Glimmer in the Darkness. Then found this series. I haven't been able to put them down. The suspense and romance is equally balanced. I recommend you read this series.

Beauty, love & drama

This was an excellent about people making wrong choices & paying the price. But our God is a loving, forgiving, redempting God! This story displays that so well! Definitely worth the read!

I so enjoyed this 3 in one series! The characters were so loveable (or hateable-and yes I know this is not a word!) depending on which end of the saga you choose to be on. The story itself was full of twists and turns but the last twist blew my mind! I highly recommend this book!

Thriller

The book in the beginning threw me off, with no mention of Nutfield, story was a tear jerker in places, especially the ending. I never want the story to end, but can't wait to get to the end to start the next one. They are fast paced, can't put down books.

This is the best one I read by this author

The Nutfield saga has been an interesting series. I have enjoyed each one. This one had a few of the familiar characters from from the previous three. It has more faith filled parts than the previous three.

Book 5 in this series was awesome! It was even better than the previous books. It was hard to put down, full of suspense, and had plenty of God's love and mercy. You don't want to miss this one! I'm off to find Book 6!

Harper is a mess. But God specializes in messes.

She left home to become a movie star. But that didn't work out. Now she's an ex-con. And somebody's stalking her.
