I feel like I’ve been reading this book forever. Probably because it has taken me almost three years to reach the end. I’ve been reading it mostly alongside the books of the Old Testament as I’ve gone along, and it has taken me a long time to get through them. In fact, I’ve still got a few to go, but decided to finish reading this book first.
I found this informative. Perhaps a little too informative at times, as I was a little overwhelmed with information I was trying to make sense of within the Bible, as well as trying to take in the additional information in this book. Definitely a good book if you would like additional information on each book of the Bible while reading it. However, I think I needed something more simplistic than this. The kind of book a ten year old could make sense of would probably have been better suited to me and my baffled mind.
This is a summary of scholarly observations running from Genesis to Chronicles. A good, but somewhat dry, read, you will get a look at the Bible as a historical and literary construct. If this is your idea of a good reading topic, this is a decent intro.
