Check out these nuggets of life wisdom on how to be more like Buffy Summers, the girl who was literally chosen to slay every day.
This book celebrates Emmy Award-winning TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer , and more specifically its leading vampiric lady Buffy Summers, offering a practical guide for how you, like Buffy, might best slay. Who better to turn to for inspiration than the Chosen One when you need a little help to slay? When life gives you Big Bads and (literal) demon boyfriends, Buffy has always got your back. Be More Buffy reveals this character's unparalled power in order to help the world start slaying Buffy-style.
Full of advice on ass-kicking your way through the day, empowering quotes and guides for getting through the sometimes-Hellmouth that is life, Be More Buffy tells you how to channel the Slayer's resilience, optimism, and all round badassery. As well as an earnest slay guide, this fun book also taps into the super-fandom surrounding Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which is still recognized now--nearly two decades after the end of its hugely successful seven-season run--as a brilliantly written and produced work of screen.
So what the Hellmouth are you waiting for? Pick up this superhuman guide to slaying right now.
Disclaimer: Not sure why I feel the need to say this, but in case you're wondering, I bought this the day before the recent news about Joss Whedon was released. Here's how I feel about the news: 1. Joss Whedon sounds like a jerk; good for the female cast members that are speaking out about it. 2. I still and always will love Buffy.
There. Now, onto the book. This really needed more editing. Not only are there typos, but are factual errors (it says Andrew was a "fellow Scooby and vampire" - he was neither). It is repetitive in places and not detailed enough in others. The sentences are awkward.
The art is inconsistent - sometimes pretty good, sometimes not-so-good, and the artist kept drawing Buffy's nose differently in every picture.
As an homage to Buffy, this is fine but underwhelming. As a self-help-type book, even a humorous one, it fails. The advice is pretty shallow; if you want to gain some Buffy wisdom you'd be better off re-watching the show.
Fun, little, up-beat read. It’s a cute reminder of the show & all it’s greatness. The art work is nice, but Buffy’s eyes are green not blue, don’t know what’s up with that. Also, sometimes sentences are awkward and there are some typos. It does have some great quotes and makes a nice gift for a Buffy fan though.
A fun motivational guide. The art is cute and bright. Some pages inspire based on each of the major characters such as "Be More Buffy" and "Be More Oz." "Life Lesson" and "What Would Buffy Do?" pages offer advice for real-world problems like crummy jobs and toxic relationships based on how Buffy dealt with them on the show. The pages are concise and upbeat. There was a noticeable typo on one page that stood out. It won't change your life but if you are a fan of the show this is a fun coffee table book to pick up and enjoy a few snippets of here and there as you go about your day.
