Teresa

The last thing I need is a hot, drool-worthy one night stand!

I just managed to break up with the loser I should have dumped ages ago, so I already know I’m not the best at saying no or ending things. But it’s time for me to plan for my future.

As the Housing Coordinator on base, I’m sent to settle in new arrivals. During a routine walk through, I run into a man who’s easily the best looking I’ve ever seen. With dark hair and light piercing eyes, he catches me off-guard when he continues to relentlessly pursue me—despite my denial of interest in him.

I’m ready to think about life after the military, so I want someone who can be around for the long haul. Definitely not another workaholic, and I know he will be reassigned and gone at any moment.

For all I know–probably back to a wife and kids! I can’t let my heart get involved.

Let me start off by saying this is my first book by this author. I am vaguely aware that there are series by this author that relate to this book, but I haven't read them. So my review is a test of how this reads as a stand-alone. I must say it had a bit of a rough start in that respect. I couldn't at first figure out if humans knew about aliens or not, especially since the heroine, Teresa, mentioned the Ashen. The hero, Payak, was also not entirely forthcoming with explanations during his chapters, which works fine if you know the universe, but since I came in blind, I kind of felt like I was walking through a fog for the first 50% of the book. Things really pick up when the action starts. As soon as they've mated, Teresa gets a slew of explanations thrown her way.

Some random thoughts: The Wen virus thing is hitting a bit close to home at the moment, LOL. I love how our heroine was like, "isn't the government prepared for this kind of thing?" well.... we have our answer.... haha D: I laugh but panic at the same time.

Things I liked:
- I loved seeing the hero's uncertainty. He wasn't some unfeeling cardboard male and it helped me sympathise with him.
- The alien species were quite interesting. I loved the phasing and the special-ness of sharing personal dimensions, very cute
- The romance, when it finally took off, was surprisingly sweet. From the start it seemed like it was going to be some hot & heavy lust, but it's actually pretty sweet.

Things that could have been improved:
- Pacing, it goes from 50% of walking blind in a fog with the heroine being hesitant and the hero not divulging any info for us, to action and a lot of info for the last 50%. I would have liked to see that more spread out. Either more info in the beginning, or less hesitancy on the heroine's part.
- More world-building? I know nothing about the aliens, literally nothing. And so many unanswered plot questions! I guess that is for future books. What are these mating lights? What was in that big container that they climbed on? (By the way, that wasn't entirely clearly described. I had trouble imagining it when I read it.) Payak.... family? Friends? Who the heck is Lana and why was her hand on his chest? Was Ted just some cheap plot device to keep the heroine from jumping the hero's bones? I can go on indefinitely. This book may have been way too short.

My ratings: * didn't like it ** it was meh *** liked it **** really liked it ***** this book is the bomb and I will sleep with it in my bed

This is the first book in a new series and if this book is anything to go by it’s going to be a brilliant series. Lots of emotion, suspense, mystery, struggle, passion and drama in this story. Loved the characters and the author has done a fantastic job with world building. Can’t wait for book 2 in the series.

I really enjoyed this book. The main characters are instantly drawn to each other, despite Teresa just coming out of a broken relationship. Sometimes while reading, you may think you missed something, but it does eventually get explained. I found it just kept my attention trying to figure out what was happening and where it would go from there.

Received an ARC thorough Author's Direct for an honest review. Umm.. I honestly don't know what to say.

This was an audiobook so I'll mention some issues there too.

First things first. The book starts really slow. If you don't look at the cover, you never really find out what the book is about until maybe 7 or 8 chapters in. It shouldn't take that long to make your point as to what's going on.

The explanation of what a "Sinth Seeker" is, does and where its from is not dropped until chapter/track 14 and as the title of the book it honestly should be a lot sooner.

I liked the concept of the romance but it felt like there were way too many ideas and to many other paranormal traits involved into the story line between the blood sharing, the zombie like disease that people were being infected with on top of the alien aspect. It kind of became annoying after awhile.

Other characters were touched on but not really explained. Like I would've really like to know what the hell was the female aliens problem... She had a bad attitude the entire book and it was never explained. People are not just annoyed all the time for no reason.

The ending was so abrupt we don't know what the hell happens. It just freaking stops. Yes, the author explains what the plan is but there's no resolution for the aunt or anything else. It's like, you're listening to a song you like and it just cuts out at the good part. No cliffhanger... Just a freaking cliff. I was disappointed but since there were things I did like, I couldn't give it a bad rating. 3 ⭐.

Now the audio issues. I REALLY, REALLY hope you plan to re-cut the audio.

The narrators were slow even AFTER speeding up the audio. They also had no voice inflection and sounded very bored.

Also.. I absolutely HATE when a book repeats the name of the book at the beginning of every chapter. When you are reading it's one thing, when you're listening it's obnoxious and annoying. Trust me, I'm not gonna forget the name of the book I'm currently reading.

I also have a pet peeve of pronouncing words incorrectly. If you're not sure, ask. But I'm pretty sure "hubiliated" is not a word. When it was in the context of embarrassment.

You Also don't say envelope (to surround yourself...) As "ahn-vel-loped". It's "in-vel-lope".

I'm supposed to go on to the next book in the series Sinth Source but I'm not sure I'll get it done in time.

This novel was poorly written and edited, with multiple typos per page in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building in this novel was minimal, as it takes place largely in a vague location on Earth. The characterization was somewhat clumsy, and the development of the romantic relationship was pretty good, considering the clumsy writing. The plot and pacing is where this novel shines, with me reading it in one sitting because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. There was almost no angst in this novel but the stakes were very high, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel uses the Fated Mates trope and the Zombie Apocalypse trope. The plot and pacing of this novel rates four stars, the characterization and development of the romantic relationship rates three stars, the world building rates two stars and the egregious wiriting and editing mistakes rate one star. This is this author's second published series, and she should have access to a critique partner or good beta readers at this point in her career to catch a lot of these typos or editing errors, if professional editing is financially unfeasible. This novel ends on a Happy For Now ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a plus of this author's work. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy sci-fi romance and don't mind plentiful editing errors. I really did enjoy this story, but I will not be buying myself a keeper copy of this novel until the quality control problems are fixed.

Update:
I went through the entire manuscript and sent the author all the typos and editorial mistakes that I had found in the original ARC version of this manuscript, so the book for sale should have significantly fewer typos.

Payak is an alien from the planet Sinth. His current mission is to track his friend Mavin who has gone to earth where the Wen virus is spreading. This virus creates zombie like creatures. Teresa, a human, has just gotten out of a bad relationship and is cautious around Payak who she assumes is a normal human. Their chemistry is red hot. There are some cliffhangers as I suspect this is the start of a series. Good read!

The book is a quickie; the story's a bit thin

Sinth Seeker is the Book 1 of a new series, starring a new alien species interacting with humans on Earth. The Sinth are an as-yet ill-defined race, and their one distinguishing difference is the ability to "phase" in and out of their current location and withdraw to a private "dimension" of their own. There's more, but you need to read it for yourselves. This story's Sinth hero goes to Earth in search of his missing team mate, only to find himself in the midst of an imminent viral epidemic (translate: zombie apocalypse). He rescues - and bonds to - a feisty human whose loyalty to kith and kin is much stronger than her understanding of epidemiology and effective quarantine procedures. The love story is ok, the sex is a bit lukewarm, and the world-building is off to a convoluted, ill-defined start. Pearl Tate writes it well enough to keep it basically coherent and moderately interesting. Since she's a proven author capable of far better, I'm calling this one 3 stars and looking for improvement in Book 2 This is a voluntary ARC review.

A whole new series by Pearl Tate. This one isn’t in space. The aliens are on Earth and I have a feeling they’ve been here for awhile. But when the Sinth arrive things will change. They look mostly human. One human female will take Payak to his knees. The need to protect and earn her trust is everything to him. But space also brings danger and death. So sit back and enjoy the beginning of a new ride.

3 1/2* I read the prelude and enjoyed it so I was eager to do a review for Sinth Seeker. I'm happy I did. First I suggest you read Sinth Saviour because it will fill in some of the background. So far it has been free so it's worth a try. I enjoyed the story. It sort of takes off from the previous book but with different main characters. The H is from an alien race who helps patrol the galaxy. In the prelude we discover that earth has been exposed to a deadly virus that the Sinth try to minimize and stop the spread of. After discovering this fact the H of the first book goes to earth with his human mate. The second story starts from there. A group of Sinth go to earth to try to find the missing H from the first book. There the leader discovers that a human may be able to fully mate with him which has not happened in a very long time. The Sinth species is actually in decline due to the shortage of possible mates. So this discovery has great significance. While the Sinth are there some areas are hit by the virus. The Sinth team is responsible for monitoring the situation and controlling the infected along with some other alien species which have an outpost on earth. They have to control them because the infected deteriorate to the point where they mindlessly attack humans and animals going to the point where they try to eat them and the bite spreads the disease. So far the story is very good. But then comes the part I down rated for. The book just kind of ends. It is almost a cliffhanger. The H and h are together in the end but some of their issues are unresolved. The h does something that she should not have and disappears. When they come together they do not even talk about it, the H just tells her it is okay and it drops there without following up on the consequences of what she.has done. Then there is a peripheral character who becomes important that it left open before the point that you think it should be. I'm sure the author will follow up in the next book but I wish the author had gone a little further in that story. The author left a note on the arc mentioning that it was still being finished so I left a message asking if she was going to add to the ending. I never received an answer so could only rate the book by what information I had. I am reviewing a rough copy and the author has probably made changes. So I definitely recommend this book. Even if the author has not made changes it is more than worth reading.

Sinth Seeker is book 1 in the Sinth Strain series by Pearl Tate. It picks up where the prequel book, Sinth Saviour, left off. The series revolves around an alien species known as the Sinth that can shift into different dimensions. In their history, they had mates, but it was so long ago they don't know the signs.

In the prequel, the Sinth Mavin, seems to have found a mate in a human. He is now missing and his team members have no idea what happened to him. They have been called to Earth because of an outbreak of the Wen virus, and are also looking for Mavin. The Wen are an alien species we learned about in the prequel, which exude a chemical that makes anything that breathes it basically act like zombies. Because of the Sinth ability to shift into different dimensions, they are not affected so are perfect for searching out and trying to contain the Wen virus.

Payak is the Sinth in charge of the containment team, and meets the human military officer Teresa when getting housing on the base. Teresa can see Payak when he is phased, so he thinks she may be his mate. Humans are unaware of alien life which causes some interesting interactions in the books. As Payak and Teresa work through their feelings for each other, Payak and his team work on trying to determine the cause of the virus and also attempt to contain it.

Be warned, this book has a high heat level. It was a hot, fun, and exciting read. I also listened to the audiot book. It had different narrators for the male and female leads, and was pretty good. The female narrator was great, but the male narrator was choppy and repeated sentences in some places. I recommend reading/listening to Sinth Seeker, and look forward to reading the next book in the series. I've come to love Pearl Tate's books and this is a good addition to her universe.

Short, very concentrated on the relationship.

I didn't like the main heroine. She is supposedly a military woman. I don't know any personally, but I have this assumption, that any woman in military is able to control her outward reactions and act by logic and training instead of emotions. That is not to say they don't feel strongly, it's that they are able to control themselves . Theresa is a blubbering, whimpering, crying, impulsive mess who disregards rules and protocols. It just doesn't mesh with my idea how a woman in military act. I believe that seeing aliens for the first time(perceiving them as a threat) , those women would act out a protocol or as close as possible- assess the situation, inform chain of command and eliminate the threat if necessary. Not go into emotional breakdown and wailing in closet. Or desert while on emotions. This portrayal of feminine behaviour is demeaning. Anyway. That didn't really affect my rating because, whatever.
What did affect my rating is how the story is written. It is a very light read with heavy leaning on relationship between Theresa and Payak. There is very little of plot outside their mating. Also, not enough world building, including the whole mating, because it haven't happened in thousands of years so Payak himself can't explain anything. Basically, this book is lengthy explanations of feelings and sexual attraction, including sex scenes. Something that completely lacks any uniqueness to make this book stand out in a sea of similar books.
It may be a good, relaxing read before sleep if you want weak heroine and all loving, all forgiving main hero with lots of insta love and insta lust thrown in. Something to lull you to sleep and be out of your mind in the morning.

3 stars for it being mediocre and unmemorable.

The Sinth are another species that has dealings with the Ashen (from The Quasar Lineage) and they are here for two reasons. First, the Wen are a species that exudes a toxic chemical when they breathe that is extremely dangerous and their virus has made it to earth. Secondly, one of their friends is missing and Payak is leading a team to try an find him at the same time. They are given military housing while they are there and it is Teresa's job to get them settled and handle everything they may need for there quarters. Instant intense feelings surge when they meet. One of the Sinth's abilities is to slip into their own personal dimension and no one can see them or invade that space, except for their mate. Since the Sinth's race is on the verge of fading out, they don't have any experience with the mate bond, however, Teresa can see Payak when he phases out into his. There is a lot to learn about the post and the troops manning it. Most of which are aliens undercover. The one part I hated was Teresa learns to tap into Payak's ability to phase and disregards his warning putting him and his career in jeopardy. She was irresponsible and thoughtless, even though it was for family. After taking off for a few days, she comes back and just says I'm sorry and everything is ok. The decision to risk everything was not hers to make. I liked her a lot up until that moment. She had questionable judgement considering what she allowed her bff to talk her into doing. I liked the story and the premise, just not Teresa. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.

This is the first story in a new series. I enjoyed reading this story because the characters are very diverse. I like stories where there are aliens and humans intermingling. The characters were all believable. It was a mini-vacation right on my couch!

Teresa just got over breaking up with her latest boyfriend, something that was way overdue. She has her job on the base of getting housing ready for new arrivals. As she is getting the newest house checked out before they arrive, something happens. She meets the best looking man she has ever seen. She needs to start thinking of her future, and a one night stand with a guy who she may never see isn't really something she is interested in. She is thinking of getting out of the military and getting involved with someone who may or may not be around in a few weeks isn't worth getting involved in. But he keeps insisting.

Payak is looking for a missing member of his team. He is investigating the planet he was last on when he meets Teresa who he just can't resist. She can do something that nobody else can do. She can see him when he shifts to his own dimension. When his team is called away because a deadly virus is found in a small town on Earth, where the only way it could be here is if another Alien has been there. They investigate the area and they need to isolate the town. That is not all they need to do to the town, but when he finds out that Teresa has family there, he shares the info.

This is book 1 in Tate's Sinth Strain series and I really enjoyed the story line. I have to say that the narration of the audio copy I got was difficult at times to listen to. Dual narration which I often enjoy but in this case the male narrator was so choppy and there were long pauses that made it difficult to follow as smoothly as it should. The female narrator I think did a really well job. The story line was well written with good flow and kept my interest throughout. I really enjoyed how these main characters met and I like the ending - makes me want to know more about not only what's going on around them but about their specific relationship too. Theresa is a strong but sensitive character who seems to struggle with her own worth when it comes to men and relationships and well Payak is an alien so he has a bit of grace in my book for not being as smooth as he could be trying to finagle the customs of our planet. Overall - I'm looking forward to more from Tate on this series!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Teresa just broke up with her boyfriend of three years. Afraid to be cheated on again, she guards her heart. When she meets Payak, she is instantly drawn to him. However, her previous relationship problems make her hesitant to let Payak in. Payak is different, though. He is an alien, and he doesn't want a one night stand. He wants forever. Will Teresa give love another chance - with an alien?

After reading two of this author's other books, I think of her books as light and easy to listen to. This book had my attention from the start. It is faster-paced and more exciting than the other books that I read. I loved the flow of the action and how the storyline developed. I listened to this book straight through.

I would definitely read more books in this series. What happens with the Wen virus on earth? Do the Sinth find a way to save the human race?

I liked both of the narrators and thought they did a great job. There are two production errors in the book's audio version (track 20, minute 10:11 and track 28, minute 11:18). Both errors involve the male narrator repeating sentences of the book.

*This book contains graphic sex and some cursing.

I "read" the audiobook.

Well narrated story. The male narrator read all of the male character's dialog and the female narrator read all the female character's dialog. They both did a great job. It was easy to get immersed in the story.

The story itself is book 1 in the series. However, there is a pretty good prequel, "Sinth Savior", that should be listened to first to get the full flavor of the Sinth universe as we know it so far.

Sinth Seeker is Payak's story. He came to Earth with his crew to search for Maven, a fellow Sinth that disappeared at the end of the prequel story. Payak met Teresa when he arrived on Earth and realized she was his mate. It took a long time for Teresa to warm up to the idea that Payak was the real deal. Especially since she had no idea aliens existed. Both main characters were likable and realistic.

Pearl Tate created a very believable universe with little grey men, an alien zombie virus and hot alien super heroes with very interesting powers. Great start to a new series.

I started reading the eBook and then received the audio version in exchange for a review. The story is great! The characters and the world the author built are wonderful. It is easy to like and become invested in the characters and the experiences they go through. The struggle they all face with the Wen virus is captivating. The audio version is lacking. Please don't give up on the story if you choose the audio version because you will miss out on a great series. The female narrator, Pearl Tate, does a good job. She relates emotion through her voice. It is believable. The male narrator, Rodney Steele, doesn't do the story justice. He tries to add some inflection to his voice, but it still sounds as if he is reading it. It just doesn't flow. After starting the series with the 1st book, I got the entire series in a bundle and it is actually read in chronological order instead of by book by book. I am really loving this version. All the characters from all the books blended together. It is amazing how they all intertwine.

Teresa is loving her job at a military base where she liases with incoming personnel. On one such job she meets Payak, who is a Sinth soldier. What surprises him is that she can see him...even when he is phased half in and out of dimensions. Payak is taken by surprise when he discovers that a human female can see him. When they accidentally touch it is like lightening has invaded his body and unbeknown to him Teresa feels the same also. Payak discusses this another of his team members, Dusin, and lets him know he is going to try to find out if she can handle the phasing in and out of dimensions. Then an alien outbreak of a horrible disease hits earth. Payak has put in the paperwork about his mate but before it can go far, he;s sent on a mission to round up the diseased humans. Then worse luck, Teresa finds out it;s where her aunt is living and where her new husband has disappeared.
WOW! The premise is a fantastic one and it builds as the reader follows a beautiful relationship and a deadly disease.

This is a new series. I was confused and wasn’t sure if it was the continuation but a spin off of another series I enjoyed. Teresa didn’t have a disease that needed curing from “The Quasar Lineage” series. Finding a mate is a physical pull. There are instinctual behaviors when near their mate. Payak has a pull to Teresa and vice versa. She is not aware of his alien essence or anything else. There is a slight cliffhanger but only in the story line with her best friend Jade. The slight twists and turns are all about finding Maverick. That’s why Payak is there in the first place with his crew on base. A decent read for the start of a new series. Payak needed to be more forthcoming or clear before he made plans to claim his mate, But that’s part of the charm I guess.
Almost 4 stars. But. Of course I rounded up.

The alien Payak from the planet Sinth is here with his men to look for his missing team mate who had disappeared from Earth. He discovers a viral outbreak that turns people into zombies. Teresa is the Housing Coordinator whose job is to settle in new arrivals on the base. As she wanders the base, she meets a man who catches her attention immediately, even though she recently had a bad breakup and is not looking for a replacement. But Payak feels that Teresa is his mate, and she can feel a strong pull to him as well. Is he prepared to save her from the virus? Will he convince her to become his, despite her fears?

This wasn’t one of the most exciting books, perhaps because we’re living some of it in real life, but it wasn’t bad. I expect it will get better as it goes into the next book. Grab your copy and see if Payak will win his mate’s love, and if he will find his missing team member!

I want my own dimension!

Payak has come to Earth in search of missing Singh Main, but given Singh can phase into their own personal dimension and be invisible to everyone but their mate, finding him may be impossible if he doesn't want to be found.

Teresa may have a low level job on an Earth military base, but she makes the effort, treats her peers with kindness and respect, and is generally the kind of person you want to have on your team. A good person? Yes. But how us she able to see Payak when he ought to be invisible to any and all humans?

This done in one quick read moves an overarching plot forward, while achieving a satisfying conclusion in Kayak and Teresa's story, and expanding on the world building that was done in the prequel. The prequel isn't required reading to make this story make sense, but it definitely lays a foundation that this story build on. (Not to mention, it was an enjoyable quick read.)

I am intrigued with this new series. It is a fantastic start. Teresa is the Housing Coordinator on a military base. She goes to ensure that housing is ready for new guests that are coming and meets Payak. Payak is on Earth looking for a friend that went missing. He and his team is looking for him. Payak feels that Teresa is his mate and fights it in the beginning. Teresa just came out of a relationship and isn't looking for a new one but she is having difficulty refusing Payak. Payak and his team are notified that the Wen virus has been found on Earth. Its a devastating virus that leaves beings zombies. Things suddenly go crazy after the two of them come together. Will Payak be able to keep Teresa safe? A great start to a new series.

Payak and his team are on Earth to try and find a missing member when he meets his mate. Now all he has to do is convince her to give him a chance, look for his missing team member and secretly help container the Wen Virus that has broken out. Teresa just got out of a relationship and she's not looking to get involved with someone right now. So why can she not stop thinking about Payak? I have to say that Teresa wasn't a character that I liked and felt she kinda pulled the story down so much I could never get into the storyline.
This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone with no cheating or cliffhangers, but it is only a portion so a larger story and for a fuller reading experience would probably be best if read as such.

Lots of interesting things happening

Definitely read the prequel in order to understand what is happening. (It's free as part of her newsletter signup.)
Payak is one of a team of six Sinth that have been sent to Earth to find Mavin(the main hero in the prequel). They are to reside on a military base until he is found.
Teresa is one of the housing coordinators on the base. She goes to make sure everything is the way it should be for new arrivals and meets Payak first.
He believes that she could be his mate since she seems to be able to see him while phased. But since she just broke up with a loser she isn't interested.
But there is a new discovery by the Sinth and Ashen about the Wen virus. Read to find out what?
It ends in a happy for now way because of the overarching theme. I hope that the next book is about Payak's friend Desin.

This is a stand-alone story in a larger series in which an alien male encounters what he believes to be his destined mate in a human when he is visiting to investigate a virus in Earth. The characters are well developed and comedy is infused into the storyline to add levity to the scenes. Although the story was good, because it was just the first part of the series, I missed the completion for all of the plot schemes. Even thought the main characters get their HEA, I'm still wondering "what's next?"

I like the way that the female was portrayed in the audio version by the author. However, the presenter for the male part of the storyline was sometimes difficult to listen to. As he was reading, there would be a break in the flow of a sentences every three or four words. This made the book not only longer, but he also came across as unsure of what he was going to say.

I don't care about series that change couples every book I call in love with a couple I like to read 2or 3 books about that couple that my biggest complaint yo this series

Payak is a sexy alien who looks total movie star handsome he can phase into another dimension .He thanks Teresa a human is his mate because she can see him in his other dimensions. Payak and his team are trying to help earth with the zombie virus there is no know cure but his alien species can't get it.The only problem I see in this book is it was over to fast. Left you with a cliff hanger and the next story to the series is about another couple .Which I hate I like Payak and Teresa and could of read another book about them .

Aliens, Fated Mates and Zombies… Oh My!

Sinth Seeker is book 1 in the Sinth Strain series and I wanted to mention that there is a prequel you should not miss called Sinth Savior. It really should be read first since the characters and events there are referenced here, in Sinth Seeker. Check out Pearl Tate’s website, you can find it there!

I think this is a wonderfully creative premise where aliens inhabit Earth and no one knows they are there. Sinth Seeker is gearing up to be a drama filled adventure with fascinating characters that have definitely caught my attention. There is a new virus discovered on Earth, government intrigue, a missing Sinth and a relationship gun-shy human woman who does not know what to do about her attraction to a new, arousing and determined man. But is he really a man?

It seems like there will be an overall series arc and I am looking forward to what comes next! I am loving this series so far and I’m off to start the next book in the series, Sinth Source!

This book has the Alien species meangling with human back on Earth. Payak goes to Earth looking for one of his squad companions. He and a small crew go to earth but they find that there is a virus zombie behavior. It needs to be eradicated. He meets Theresa and an knows that she is his mate. Theresa ad Payak have an instant chemistry but they are having to struggle to find some common ground. Will the virus get wiped out and will Theresa and Payak find a way to make their relationship work? Have to read the story to find out. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
