I’m not going to tell you how to write, I’m going to open the toy box and let you play.
A great story needs great characters but how do we make them? In Creating Characters we’re going to look at how we can play with description to reveal our characters, break apart ideas of heroes and villains, and create dynamic dialogue for our cast.
The only limit is our creativity.

What I like most about these craft books is the understanding of linguistics that Stuart sets out. Few 'advice' books do this. They judge and set strict ideas of what correct writing is without the nuanced comprehension of the history and hodgepodge of arbitrary rules that inhabit it.
Stuart doesn't tell the reader off or insinuate themselves as superior but lays out the constructional pathways and techniques available with how and why they exist. Plus, all of this is achieved in an accessible way.
Not only does the author know their stuff, they know how to impart that knowledge without condescension or self-aggrandisement. A wonderful set of books and definitely worth reading!
