Harper Duquaine is back for another season of fantasy football! This time she’s a year wiser and prepared to dominate the league. But while she finally seems to have her fantasy life in order, reality proves more challenging.

Her plans to peacefully play house with her boyfriend come to a halt when the high school suddenly names Brook its head football coach. The promotion comes with more responsibility on the field and less time at home. It also unexpectedly means more work for Harper, who already has her hands full helping a friend pull off the perfect proposal (while dodging questions about when she and Brook are going to get hitched already). Plus, a new development at work could leave her—and half of the fantasy league—jobless.

With the complications of her career and being “Mrs. Coach” piling up, Harper wonders if she’s headed for victory or failure.

Harper is back for another season of Fantasy Football and she is ready to go all the way! She is researching each player, and is determined to get the team of her football dreams! She has picked the team of the season (in her mind) but her relationship with Brook isn't quite what dreams are made of these days!

When an unexpected health issue plagues the head coach, Brooks steps up and takes on the responsibility. Harper doesn't know what it entails to be a coaches girlfriend, all the practices, the late night video reviews, the weekends full of meetings and the fundraising and networking involved as well!

Harper is doing great with her second business, and she is even finding time to help with Brook's sisters proposal (which almost gets her in trouble when it looks like she and the future groom are cheating with each other! Oy!).

And if life wasn't crazy enough, Brook signs her up to run the craft fair this year, chaperone trips and bake dozens of cookies for the boosters spaghetti dinner...Oh the life of a coach's girlfriend!

But with all this free time alone, Harper is starting to wonder if she will ever be #1 in Brook's life or has she taken a backseat to football?

Grab a bottle of wine and watch the craziness unfold and see if Harper and Brook have what it takes to make it past football season let alone stand the test of time!

This is the second book in the Queen of the League series by Laura Chapman and the story keeps getting better! I can so relate to Harper and the addicting feeling of being the surprise underdog in a man's activity (fantasy football for Harper, March Madness for me) and the anxiety for the next year's challenge. Throw in some relationship dilemmas and you got yourself a great chicklit novel! Couldn't put this book down - finished in 1 day! I want Harper's life!

I was given a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Since we last left off in ‘First and Goal,’ the two main characters, Harper Duquaine and Brook MacLaughlin, have moved in together.

They are loved up and their lives seemed perfect. This all starts to change when Brook’s boss, the football coach at the school, is diagnosed with cancer.

Brook temporarily takes on the Coach’s role, whilst the coach undergoes treatment. Shaken up by the devastating news, Brook puts his all into his new role, meaning he is spending less time at home – and less time with Harper.

Harper and Brook’s relationship is put under an increasing amount of strain when what seems like all of Brook’s time is taken up with coaching football. He’s often home late. He’s always tired. They soon begin to bicker. Their love life goes out the window and they have to fight for it if they want a future together.

It doesn’t help matters when Harper finds everyone around her is getting engaged. Whilst her own relationship is beginning to hit the rocks. She wonders if she and Brook will ever get things back on track and get married themselves one day.

At work Harper is sworn to secrecy when a problem arises. She decides not to tell Brook, as he has enough on mind, so keeps it to herself and doesn’t tell her friends at the dealership either.

When everyone does eventually find out the secret, we see one character grow up. JJ wasn’t the nicest of characters in ‘First and Goal’, but when he finds out his job is at risk, he changes. I was waiting for JJ to show his jealous streak, and perhaps try and sabotage Harper’s already deteriorating relationship with Brook, but JJ’s character stopped being childish and totally proved me wrong.

He was no longer a jerk, instead becoming quite sincere and ultimately proving that his friendships with both Brook and Harper meant something to him. He even gives Harper some good honest advice when she’s feeling low and doubting her future with Brook. He could have easily tried to turn Harper against Brook when she was feeling this way but instead his sincerity came out and he was shown to be more of a man than I was expecting.

Although the fantasy football element was in the book, it wasn’t a major theme, unlike in the first book. We see more of what’s going on in Harper’s life, like the new craft business venture she sets up with Brook’s sister, Amelia, and how much of a success it becomes.

Harper is still passionate about winning the fantasy football league this season, and her triumphs were again shown in the format of weekly league progress reports. There were more league members this time with Harper’s brothers Scott and Christopher joining up.

Harper becomes very confident about winning the league, but with more league members to contend with and a very busy work life, the question is, can she pull it off?

I’d recommend this sequel whether you’ve read ‘First and Goal’ or not. It’s funny, heartwarming, and you find yourself rooting for Harper and Brook when things get tough for them. The characters are fantastic and I was really pleased JJ turned himself around. Go buy this book!

I love football, especially Nebraska football. I love reading chick-lit. And I love Laura’s Queen of the League series which combines both of these things! And I am learning more about fantasy football with every book she writes.

There is enough football woven into this story to keep me pumped for football, even though the season is over for us. There is high school, college, and pro ball all rolled up together in this grand adventure. And there is plenty of relationship ups and downs to keep me interested as well. There is a very nice balance of the two. This is a perfectly wonderful chick lit/sports story.

Harper and Brook become a loving couple, settling into a comfortable life. That is until Brook is offered the temporary head coach position. He has taken on so much and wants the team to succeed so badly that their relationship starts taking a back seat to football. Harper is not happy about that and starts to question if this was the right road for her to take. Those are the ups and downs I mentioned earlier.

‘I was raised on football, but the game looks completely different when it’s about more than winning or losing. It’s about playing with heart, which matters more.

The two of them will have to work together if they want to get through the season with any hope of their relationship surviving. I really do love these characters and the friends they surround themselves with. Reading Going for Two was like visiting all of them again, catching up where we left off just like old friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed book #1 in this series, First & Goal. I loved that the story continues in Going for Two. And I am super excited for the next in the series, Three & Out. I can’t wait to see where Laura takes these characters next.

It’s not often I enjoy a sequel just as much, if not more, than it’s predecessor. That has been my M.O. with not only books, but movies, too. I can honestly say I enjoyed Going For Two even more than First and Goal- and let me tell you, that’s saying a lot, because I thoroughly enjoyed First and Goal!

I really get a kick out of Harper Duquaine. Although she’s what many men would categorize as a “guy’s gal”, on the flip side of that, she’s got a soft feminine side to her that is easily relatable to many women, too. She’s down-to-earth yet has quite a few flaws that make her real. Brook is just as fallible. While so many of us would yearn for a man who loves us just as fiercely and loyally as he does Harper, nothing is perfect. She wants to be supportive of Brook’s budding career, but at what cost to her and their relationship? Is there something more waiting for Harper, or is this where she needs to be, and where she’ll find the most contentment out of life?

I think I enjoyed this sequel in the Queen of the League series a little bit more, because I’m very much invested in the characters, not only the primary ones, but the supportive characters, as well. It’s really neat to see the transition that happens for Harper’s friends, the people who aide her in finding her true identity, her place in the world. I could see real growth in everyone this go around, which makes me more than eager to read the third book in this series, Three and Out, when it’s available, and what prompted this reader to give Going For Two five stars!

Going for Two is the second book in the Queen of the League series by Laura Chapman. If you need another classic example of why I love Chapman’s writing, then you’ve got it right here. Her writing is clever, witty and downright entertaining.

In the second novel we continue Brook and Harper’s story. At this point in time, their relationship has progressed and they’ve moved in together. Can they accomplish domestic bliss when they’ve got new drama and chaos in their lives? And all on top of another season of fantasy football on their hands? To overcome last year’s season, Harper has thoroughly done her homework and flawlessly creates a total kick-ass team. Will her practically perfect team be enough to make the cut to the playoffs and bring home a win?

One of my absolute favorite things about this story is the idea that they’re a team. Their relationship may not be perfect and they’ve got things to overcome and big decisions to make, but they’re doing it together. It’s so spot on and relate-able and at the same time extremely entertaining. This novel kept me entertained the whole way through and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series when it comes out!

A few yers ago I had read Hard Hats and Doormats, I liked it a lot and I was curious to read more of this author. I love books that mix romance and sports so I really enjoyed this one. The plot is original and funny and Harper and Brook are really great characters.
Harper continues to play Fantasy Football. She has a stable and happy relationship with Brook. But their equilibrium is upset when he is proposed to make the coach. He is always busy and also Haper has much work to do. She would like to support him in his career but they see less and less and Harper doesn't know if she has made the right choice. They will have to work hard to build their lives together.
Harper and Brook are a perfect couple and he's really amazing, a support for her. Harper is a very realistic character with her many qualities but her little and adorable defects. Very well developed and lovable are also the secondary characters.
It 's a likeable chick lit, exciting, full of humor with an interesting background about football. Hoping and waiting that comes out the third book, I absolutely want read the first one.
If you love chick-lit and football this book is a must read

Lovely second installment for this series. The relationship between Harper and Brook progresses. These two had many obstacles thrown into the mix in this story and it's a nail biting race to the finish for all our favorites. 4.5/5 stars. Would love a bit more romance between these great characters.

Although part of a series, Going For Two can be listened to as a standalone audiobook. I loved this story and Harper and Brook. The narration was excellent and I was engaged from the first chapter. I appreciated the humor and the many football metaphors. A fun listen! I would recommend this audiobook.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. This review is my honest opinion.

If you told me I'd love a book about Fantasy Football, I probably wouldn't have believed you. But, I loved Laura Chapman's The Marrying Type, which I reviewed previously, so I wanted to give First and Goal, and it's sequel Going for Two, a shot - and I was happy I did!

In this series, Harper Duquaine joins her workmates' Fantasy Football league as a way to make friends in her new job, and ends up with a boyfriend, a best friend, and a life she loves. Harper's character is sweet, and relatable - at 27, she both panics about her life plan and gets fall-down-drunk at a bar. It's a dichotomy I (at almost 27) recognise all to well. Surrounded by the men in the league, her brothers, and her co-workers at the car dealership, Harper finds herself.

In First and Goal, I fell in love with Chapman's cast of characters. It was refreshing to read chick lit that had more men in the line up than women! Each of the guys was completely different, and all added something to the story. Really, there were only two women; Harper, and Amelia (a sister to one of the boys). I loved Amelia as much as Harper, she was strong and feisty, with a realistic dose of insecurity and hopeless romanticism. I would give First and Goal a solid 4/4.5 stars, as it kept me hooked from the beginning, and I was even invested in the results of the Fantasy Football tournament. Who would've thought!

Chapman's sequel, Going for Two, saw the same characters, back for another season of football. This time, Harper's life is a little more serious than it was the year before, and the book focuses more on actual 'adulting' - a work/life balance, marriage and kids. Because of these more serious topics, the competition of Fantasy Football was almost an afterthought, and overall the story was a little less bright than the first book in the series. I still liked it, but it did have a little less magic than the first instalment. All of the characters were still there, but the focus was definitely on the relationship between Brook and Harper, rather than Harper and everyone is the bigger group, which I really liked in the first book.

That said, I read that there's a third book coming soon, and I'll definitely be picking it up. After the ending of Going for Two, I'm very interested to see how the book brings the group back together for a third season in the League!

In Going For Two, the second book in the Queen of the League Series, author Laura Chapman weaves an entertaining chick lit tale that continues the trials and tribulations of Harper Duquaine as she tries to balance home, romance, and work issues, while delving into the second year of the competitive world of fantasy football leagues.

Author Laura Chapman takes her personal passion for fantasy football leagues and creates a hilarious chick lit series with a football theme. She weaves a sassy tale full of humor and drama that easily draws the reader into the continuation of Harper's story as she tries to try juggle the challenges in her life with the fierce competitiveness of fantasy football leagues.

In Going For Two, the focus is on how Harper deals with the challenges of everyday life issues, especially in her relationship with boyfriend Brook, while the fantasy football league takes a back seat. I really enjoyed the switch in the storyline as the drama of everyday life issues that Harper struggled with are realistic and easy to relate to. But I couldn't help but snicker as Harper did her homework for the new season of fantasy football, as I too prepare to take down the opposition every season in my various sports fantasy leagues.

Going For Two is an exciting and fast paced story that flows smoothly and easily keeps the reader turning the pages. Author Laura Chapman sure knows how to weave an enjoyable series that keeps her readers in stitches. You can't help but get caught up in Harper's roller coaster ride of a life full of drama and sweet romance, it's simply delightful!

Going for Two is the second book in The Queen of the League series and Harper is back with a whole new set of adventures and mishaps that makes for a fun and interesting read. In this read we find Harper and her fantasy football buddies back and ready for a new season. She and her boyfriend Brook have moved in together when Brook is offered a chance to coach the high school football team putting stress and pressure on him and their relationship. I love seeing their relationship grow and seeing how they interact with each other and deal with the issues at hand. Although I feel Harper was a bit hard on Brook when it came to understanding this commit to the team versus when it came to their relationship I saw over time she learned to see what all his job entailed and was more understanding.

However what I love the most is the funny aspect of the series. I love the storylines of the fantasy football and how each of the friends is so devoted to the game. As a player myself I love this because I so see myself and my fellow players doing the same thing granted it’s all in fun but we do take fantasy football very serious. This year Harper knew what she was doing and was really into it.

This is a series so it’s best to read them both to get the full story but I promise if you give it a chance you will enjoy it. You don’t have to get football to fully enjoy this read, it’s funny and the relationships are what truly makes this read. No matter if it’s the relationship between Harper and Brook or that of the ones between friends this is a story that has something for everyone.

At the end of Book #1 it seemed that Harper and her boyfriend Brook were settling into a nice routine with his league career and her work and of course her newfound love of fantasy football. It seems though in Book #2 Going For Two her happiness and relationship and everything that she has built up will be rocked to the core as her husband Brook gets a new promotion as Head Football Coach which is a huge deal as he will be taking the team to the Nationals, but it means that their relationship time will be limited. Can Harper work at being a Football WAG or is she not cut out for this life as she finds her and Brook starting to distance and become further apart ? And it's not just Brook's life that is a-changing as Harper has been helping her brother-in-law to be plan the perfect wedding proposal for his girlfriend and there have been talks at Harper's work of possible lay-offs which will leave not only the majority of workers without a job but also her fantasy football league diminished ? Going For Two is a revaluation novel where Harper must decide whether she is happy in her life and the way it is headed or is there something better out there for her ? A Different direction in a world where she is not a Football WAG ?
Find out in this fun Sports Chick-Lit novel by Laura Chapman . Book #2 in her Queen of the League series.

This is the second book in the 'Queen of the League' series. I liked this series and am looking forward to reading the third installment. These books are good to read if you're in the mood for a light-hearted comedy that weaves in a bit of young romance. I enjoyed the main character, Harper, and felt that I would relate to her witty outlook on life; from more serious issues to fleeting thoughts (like her Todd Northwood fantasy dreams!). I surely recommend these books to anyone interested in 'chick lit'!
