Haunted spaces and creepy places, music from beyond the grave, otherworldly encounters, a deadly basketball game, and more...
This collection of surreal tales ventures into the paranormal as you've never read them before and will turn your dreams into nightmares that haunt your every thought. Down, down, in the depths they fell, bodies in the dark of a liquid hell.
A creative ninja with a dark mind and a quirky nature, Stephanie Ayers writes all the words and spins twisted tales filled with horror, fantasy, suspense, and anything in between. With a trunk full of tricks thanks to a checkered past, she haunts Irish castles and snowy mountaintops in her dreams while living the unicorn life in Ohio disguised as a human. When she isn’t listening to the voices in her head, she spends her days as a mom, Gigi, cat lover, and Netflix binger, while avoiding housework at all costs.
Her debut novella, Til Death Do Us Part, was published in 2013, and her work appears in several anthologies and collections. Along with many solo works, she currently has two serials to her name, the stand-alone horror volumes of The 13 series, and her epic 5 book fantasy series, Destiny Defined.

The 13: Surreal Tales by Stephanie Ayers
**What Keeps You Up at Night
A little something to put a chill in your bones before you go to sleep
**While We Were Sleeping
An old abandoned school and paranormal investigators, nothing better if you ask me. This isn't their first time investigating this school but it just may be their last. A great right before bed spooky tale.
**Eyes of the Damned
It is the humans who were so greedy that they had to be picked off and destroyed. It was then their fault again when they were destroyed. Something to make you think.
**The Unfinished Song
Meggs loves music and the guitar, so did her father. One day she finds an unfinished sing and her mom practically begs her to finish it. This story is full of those warm fuzzy feels and makes you feel better about the ones we lost in knowing they are still here with us.
**Duty Calls
The planet has been sick and if she doesn't find a vaccine then it could spread to everyone. Will the other plants help, will a vaccine really work? You have to jump in the spaceship and go along for an out of this world journey to find out for yourself.
**The Haunting of McLean Manor
Becca and Andy are having a baby and moved into a new house. Trying to learn the curse of the manor they just moved into is harder than she thinks. The darkness that's about to unravel will leave you with the creepy crawlies.
**Devil Within
Paint those red stripes across your door or you just may end up in one of the gravedigger's holes. You may just get tied up and set out that door too!
**Tiny’s Taco Hut
It all started with Tiny's Taco Hut and it will all end there as well. That will teach them. Be careful as you have been warned.
**The Invasion
Destroyed their own planet then tried to destroy theirs. Let me tell you, that was not happening.
**Smile and Wave
This story really got me, it's so sad that I wanted to do to the father as he did to his son. Don't turn your back because blood is not always thicker than water.
**The Street Players
This story reminded me of when you are listening to the radio and a song comes on from your past. It just brings you back there to that time and place, everytime you hear it, it does the same thing over and over.
**Sole Survivor
When the aliens come to play, what will you do? Children are gone, husband gone, neighbors gone. What do you do?
**Play with Me
My mind has been completely blown! Mere is being chased by ghosts from the past. Her psychiatrist Della has ghosts of her own to deal with. What happened and what happens will shock you, it sure did me.
🥰 Stephanie Ayers is a fantastic story teller and I really enjoyed reading each story in The 13 Surreal Tales. Definitely one for around Halloween to bring on the spooks. 🥰
A very unique and creepy collection of tales sure to give you chills and make your head spin. The mess-with-your-head quality of some of these stories was truly intense. I really enjoyed this collection.
