With only months to live because of terminal lung cancer, Marcus Gostin is ready to confess his secret to the entire world. He is the person responsible for the frightening and unsolved disappearances of local women - known informally as the "Lake Tahoe Ten" - during the past two decades.
BR>As the owner of a successful and popular Lake Tahoe resort, he was able to hide in plain sight while living his life as a patient and proficient serial killer. Proud of what he had done and wanting his name to live on in immortality, he decides to document in meticulous and graphic detail how he hunted, kidnapped, and brutally slaughtered each of the Tahoe Ten" in a journal with the hope that it would be published after his death.
But it wasn't over.
Nearing the conclusion of his literary masterpiece, he crosses paths with a young man and instantly senses an intangible, but very real connection with him. He knows the kid is a killer in the making, and he sees the opportunity to take him under his wing. Motivated by events in his own life as well as material he has viewed on the dark web, the young man is interested in learning more.
Class is in session, and Marcus thoroughly teaches him the art of kidnapping a woman and getting away with it, along with the psychology of actually taking a human life. A hands-on tutorial at the expense of a woman who broke the student's heart will be the final lesson, and Marcus' last kill before his apprentice is ready to continue the journal and carry on his legacy.
Will the student pass his final exam?
The Tahoe Ten Killings by former NYPD "Cannibal Cop" Gil Valle (A Gathering of Evil, The Social Catalogue of #Prey) strikes with unnerving realism so psychologically tormenting, it may be seen by some as a "how to" manual. It is not for the faint of heart.
University of Maryland alum and Ex-NYPD cop turned author with a wrongful arrest and prosecution in between. Now fully exonerated, I've turned to writing in the hopes of making this a new career.
RAW DEAL (2/9/17) is my memoir about the "Cannibal Cop" case. I talk into the world dark and violent sexual fantasies, my family life, my wrongful arrest, my time in prison, rampant misconduct by FBI agents and the US Attorney's office, and my eventual acquittal and full exoneration.
A GATHERING OF EVIL (1/14/18) is my debut extreme horror novel, and it is not for the squeamish or faint of heart. It is the story of two New York women leading seemingly normal lives, completely unaware that they have been targeted by a group of wealthy and violent sadists. This group, who met through the Dark Web, share some rather unusual sexual desires, along a desire to turn those twisted fantasies into reality.
THE SOCIAL CATALOGUE OF #PREY (1/15/19) is the sequel of A Gathering of Evil. It centers on the dangers of the Age of Social Media, and how users unknowingly make themselves easy targets for depraved predators by posting the details of their day-to-day lives. This brutally realistic extreme horror novel may change the way you use social media.
I've appeared on Inside Edition, Crime Watch Daily with Chris Hansen, People Magazine, Cracked.com, Slate, The New York Post, The New York Daily News, The New York City Crime Report, True Murder with Dan Zupansky, Daily Mail TV, Soft Focus with Jena Friedman, and many other places.
This summer, I will be a guest at CrimeCon in New Orleans. I'll also be attending KillerCon in Austin, Texas as my novel A GATHERING OF EVIL was nominated for best extreme horror novel of 2018.
For fans of my extreme horror books, here is my latest. It is a spinoff of the 'Gathering of Evil' series, but it is its own stand-alone story. This one ups the 'disturbing' factor. Check it out if it's up your alley, and please leave a rating and/or review. The Kindle edition is available as well. Thank you!
I trust NO ONE! This is the second book I have read by Gil Valle. The first being A Gathering of Evil and a first I've read of its genre. What a rabbit hole Gil has put me through. A terrible, paranoid, bloody mess. This book was even more gruesome than A Gathering of Evil and I was warned of that before going in. Do I regret reading it? Nope. I love a book that is taboo. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. Soooo many thoughts were going through my head as I read this. If you think you can handle a book on graphic kidnapping, rape, torture, cannabalism and murder then I would recommend this for you. This is a whole new level of cat and mouse play. NOT for people who are easily squeamish or triggered. The author likes to bring you down a dark, dark road with his books.
I think this is my favorite book so far by Gil. It was very well written and the storyline was rich with suspense. You could really feel the emotional rollercoaster of Eric's journey and I was surprised at the outcome in the end. I don't want to say too much and give away any spoilers, but Tahoe Ten is some real serial killer shit.
While Valle isn't the first author to write transgressive fiction involving characters that commit horrendous acts of inhumanity to unsuspecting victims (Dennis Cooper and Poppy Z Brite come to mind), there is a blatant, gleeful nihilism present through almost every paragraph in this bloated account. When there is no one you can root for, the women are seen solely as objects of torture, and these, in turn, reflect the state of mind of an author who was infamous for already discussing these acts on the web, it makes me wonder if there is anything left for the author would to share with us, or is this it. One-trick.
Many spelling errors. No indents (why?). Annoying spaces after every line, every paragraph. The plot has a haphazard structure and goes from zero to sixty without transitions. There is no sense of a crescendo or even a story arc. The book is virtually suspense and scare-free. Instead of turning a promising concept into a detective story closer to the likes of Thomas Harris (who himself showed very little gore but amped up the dread to 11), Valle simply opts to get his characters, and by extension, himself in the deep carnage and pass that as "horror".
It's not. It's carnage at levels I've never seen before. Fantasies on display. I would perhaps go for absurdism bordering on the surreal, but both genres deserve better.
But to each their own. For me? Last book. Moving on.
I am so glad Gil has turned his dark fantasies into stories that we can all read. He certainly has a talent for this kind of story. I think this was one of the best books he has written. The story was well written, despite its dark nature. Of course, that is what I have come to expect from one of Gil's books! It was a fast read and it kept me interested throughout the entire story. While the epilogue might have been a little long for my taste, I could imagine it being played out in a snuff-style movie, while the end credits rolled up. Another fine job, my friend. Keep it up.

This was a good read 🤔 is that appropriate to say 😅🫣 although gruesome and disturbing it was an intriguing read. If you’re into serial killers as much as I am or true crime you will like this.
