Just in time for Christmas, Sarah Brown has located her long-lost family: her late sister and orphaned triplet nieces. Now she intends to claim custody of the little girls. But one person stands in the way—their guardian, Detective Renzo Calloway. As the triplets draw them closer, building a family together might just bring Renzo and Sarah everything they ever wanted.
Multi-published, award-winning, bestselling author Ruth Logan Herne is living her dream of being a published author and having the time of her life doing it. Born to a poor family in Rochester, NY, Ruthy draws on her early years and her many years of dealing with today's young families and businesses to create beautiful, heartfelt small-town stories of faith, hope and love... while adopting her favorite non-Scripture quotes "Plenty of time for rest in the grave" (Ben Franklin) and "No one can make you feel inferior without your permission." (Eleanor Roosevelt) and one can always depend on Yoda "There is no try. There is do or do not." A Christmas romance with a sleighful of angst makes for another emotional Ruth Logan Herne epic holiday read.
Adorable orphan triplets are at the heart of this tear-inducing love story. This author knows how to write kids who are sweet and funny...and sometimes sassy. These girls are all that and so much more. Though they've lost their mother they have been lovingly raised by Renzo's family and everything is near perfect...until it suddenly isn't thanks to some family turmoil and Sarah's unexpected arrival.
Love Renzo's gentle reminder to the kids -- "But sometimes things don't go our way and God wants us to do our best to be big and brave and bold." (p36)
That's something he has to remind himself of over and over again as Sarah complicates their lives. Honestly, I couldn't see how Herne could bring about a happily ever after in the midst of this mess. Thankfully, it is the season of miracles when love and grace and good will abound...once Renzo and Sarah jump a hurdle or two...or three or four!
A heartwarming romance that realistically showcases the joys and challenges of faith and family.
What a heart-touching Christmas romance highlighting the strength of family relationships!
Finding Her Christmas Family treats us with another visit to Golden Grove, Washington, a small-town community of faith and family values. Detective Lorenzo (Renzo) Calloway is the protective uncle to identical four-year-old triplets his parents adopted as infants. When high-powered Seattle neonatologist Dr. Sarah Brown arrives in town, she reveals she is the girls’ biological aunt and plans to take the children into her home.
With many challenging situations, this story faces the tough issues head on as the characters work to provide the best outcome for the children. All the characters are amazing, flaws and all, but the triplets steal your heart with their sparkling, individual personalities. This author truly knows children and writes about them authentically. I also enjoyed the touches of Christmas preparations, the sweet romance, the emphasis on family bonds......with a perfect ending.
Inspirational author Ruth Logan Herne can always be counted on to leave readers with a contented sigh and a warm heart. For an uplifting, holiday feel-good story, I highly recommend Finding Her Christmas Family!
Favorite quote: Thy will be done. That was it. Short. Straightforward. Succinct. A biblical direction to put everything in God’s hands.
A touching and heartwarming story filled with family drama, small town life, triplet girls with their own unique personalities and a faith message of God’s amazing grace, love and hope. Traveling back to Golden Grove with Renzo’s and Sarah’s story will delight readers this Christmas season. There were ups and downs to overcome as the Calloway family and Sarah both had a goal for the triplets. A beautiful story that will remain with the reader showing that God’s ways are higher than one’s own even when there’s been great pain in discovery the past.
I purchased this book at a local store, as I enjoy books by Ruth Logan Herne that includes a small town setting with families and children along with a lovely faith message interwoven. Thus, I was under no obligation to write a review but have shared my own opinion.
Ruth Logan Herne writes with heart. I feel her characters so much. This one was a good story with a bear impossible dilemma, yet she manages it so well. And she creates the most adorable child characters ever!!
I struggled with this one a bit. The whole adoption aspect left a sour taste in my mouth. Sarah was adopted when she was seven months old, and after submitting DNA to one of those heritage databases she's learned that she had a sister, who was two at the time, and who was adopted by another family. Unfortunately her sister has passed away, but she left behind three year old triplets, and Sarah is hell bent on getting custody of them. The girls are actually a month or so from turning four, and they've lived with friends of their mother. Friends who their mother appointed as their guardians in her will. For four years, they've lived with and been loved by this family. And it made me angry that Sarah was so determined to disrupt their lives and take them away, with seemingly no regard for how that would affect them. Ok, as she got to know them, and the family, she began to have doubts, and to go back and forth on her decision, but she still plowed ahead with wanting to win custody. The guardians have a son, Renzo, who is a detective with the local sheriff's office. This being a category romance, I knew that it would all come out alright in the end, that Sarah and Renzo would fall in love and everyone would live happily ever after. But it was a difficult journey for me.
Then there were the girls. My granddaughter will be four later this month. So she's the same age as the triplets. And yet, if I didn't know how old the triplets were, I would've guessed at least a couple of years older based on the way they talked. They said things, and conversed with the adults around them, on a level that just did not ring true to me as being almost four years old. I found it distracting.
This is a lovely book, nicely written, about two little sisters split up by an adoption agency and given to two different families.
Years later, Sarah finds out she had a sister who died but left triplet infants that were being raised by godparents, so she goes to find the family and claim her rights as the only blood relative of the children’s mother.
Key characters, other than Sarah, who is a NICU pediatric specialist, are Renzo, a police officer and son of the godparents, and his family, plus the three 4-year-olds: Kristi, Naomi, and Chloe.
I love Ruth Logan Herne’s books! She writes with such heart! Sarah Brown takes a DNA test and finds out she has a sister, Jenn, but discovers that sister is dead. Sarah finds out that her sister had identical triplets and sets out to locate them with the plan to get custody of them. Deputy Lorenzo Calloway is helping his parents raise Jenn’s triplet girls. The Calloways are planning to adopt the little girls. There are several heartwarming storylines woven into this book.
Going through a box of books I picked up from an estate. It’s what I was looking for at this point in time. Sweet, good heart, and just mindless enough to take my brain elsewhere. A quick read about an adoption snafu getting fixed decades later… kind of. Apparently this is book 3. Will I go out of my way to find the prior two? Probably not. But if they are relatively easy to find, I would read them. The characters are interesting enough, but more depth would be a plus.
What a delightful Christmas story! Ruth Logan Herne has written another book that tugs at one’s heartstrings! Readers will fall in love with triplet girls, precocious and precious. Family drama abounds but the message of a caring God is woven through the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it!
Perfect quick read for Christmas. An adopted woman finds that she had a sister but her sister was adopted by another family. Not only does she find that she has 3 identical triplets nieces but she also finds love and another family
Another fun story with great characters from one of my favorite authors. This one has Ruthy’s trademark of a fantastic story with real characters and lots of heart. Her stories never fail touch my heart.
Finding her Christmas Family is a beautiful story. It broached many present day issues. It tells a story of practices which were inhumanely done by a public agency. Love does not come easy, it has its own trials, tribulations, and heartbreak. However, it does reassure us that love is part of life!
I had trouble getting through this book for some reason. I think I was hoping for more romance than provided. The characters were always on the edge of their feelings.
Another great read from Herne. This one is quite intriguing with the family interactions and considering what's right for all involved. I loved the characters, and the children are hilarious.
