The Line of Duty is the sixth and final book in the Blackhawk Security Series. It is a romantic thriller.

Synopsis:
Blackhawk Security forensics expert Vincent Kalani left New York City a year ago, but a new lead has him going back there to solve an old case. Onboard the passenger plane that would take him there, he's surprised to see Shea Ramsey, an Anchorage PD officer. Someone who often helps investigate Blackhawk Security cases with him.

When the plane crashes in the Alaska mountains, followed soon by armed men after their lives, it becomes a fight for survival for these two amidst the snow-capped mountains. Do they become partners for life, while struggling to survive together?

Review:
I was eagerly waiting for Vincent Kalani's book, because of his tresses. Yep, that was the primary reason, the secondary being his profession. I have been fascinated with forensics experts since I started watching police procedurals religiously.

Shea is on her way to retrieve her son, Wells, but she's not telling him something. She didn't exactly trust Blackhawk and the methods of investigation they use. She often thinks of Blackhawk personnel as a set of vigilantes who do anything they please, even if it's by breaking the law. Shea eventually gets around to understanding their viewpoint, though, especially when she finds herself in grave danger alongside Vincent.

The Line of Duty is action-packed romantic suspense. There are two enemies here, the squadron of corrupt cops and the biting cold. This is the most dangerous of all the books in the series. Or is it me who feels like that? It's like with every Blackhawk book, the level of crazy danger keeps on increasing!

There is hand-to-hand combat, gunfights, and the part I love the most when the entire team intervenes. Nichole Severn always balances out the stories in such a way that it remains the protagonists' story while also capturing the team spirit. I almost cried when the entire team came together for Shea and Vincent!

A thrilling ride till the very end, I am going to miss the series now. But, I look forward to re-reading it back-to-back soon.

Thank you to the author for an e-ARC of the book.

To start off readers I am warning you now you need to seriously suspend reality when it comes to this book and the human body. I was laughing at one point thinking ok this is insane and no even based in anyway reality. Lets face it there is only so much a human body can do before you are just dead and these two take it to the extreme.

The story is what you expect from Harlequin and in a way disappointing because the author doesn't delivery on what readers might be expecting. Unless bodies that are completely broken having romance is what you expect then ignore this post and enjoy the book.

I enjoy a quick fast pace romantic suspense but Nichole Severn takes it to a ridicule level of crazy that is hard to enjoy.

Thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin Intrigue publisher for the advance copy of Nichole Severn The Line of Duty.

Predictable..but a good fast"intriguing" read, likable characters, good plot..no constant steamy sex scenes, which is so what I wasn't in the mood for (and that's what you get in the regular romantic suspense novels)
Sometimes you need a break from your "regular reads"

Good book with non-stop, page-turning action from the very beginning. This is the sixth book in the Blackhawk Security Elite Protection series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone. I haven't read the first books and had no trouble reading this one, though I definitely want to read the others.

Vincent is a former NYPD forensics investigator who left New York for Alaska after an investigation that killed two coworkers and nearly killed him. However, he has never given up his quest to find the person responsible. He recently found some new information that sends him back to New York to investigate. He was surprised to find local cop Shea already on the plane when he arrived at the airport. Shea is a by-the-book police officer. After a year of getting her life back together, she is on her way to New York to fight for custody of her son. She is not happy to see Vincent.

The dynamics between Vincent and Shea were interesting. Shea has been tasked to work with Blackhawk Security several times, usually with Vincent. Vincent is intrigued by and attracted to Shea, and unknown to her, had requested to work with her. Shea hates anything to do with Blackhawk. She looks down on them for skirting the law when it suits their purposes. When their plane crashes shortly after takeoff, Shea and Vincent must work together to survive. "Survive together. Die alone."

This is where things get a little over-the-top crazy. The plane crash was no accident, and someone has it in for either Vincent or Shea. As if the crash weren't bad enough, they are pursued by a group of hitmen determined to stop them at all costs. The physical abuse which both Vincent and Shea endure would have left any average person hospitalized for weeks, but our two heroes power right through it. I did like seeing Shea learn to trust Vincent as they fought for their lives.

I loved that once they were rescued, Vincent had to face the music with the rest of his team. He was so worried about risking their lives by involving them in his investigation that he kept his distance from them. I loved seeing them remind him that he had saved all of their lives at some point over his time with the team and that it was their turn to help him. Shea was also included in the protection because of threats against her son.

The craziness continued when they reached New York. Vincent's investigation involved a sub-group of corrupt cops, and his determination to find out who was running the show. The intensity of the action picks up even further as Vincent and Shea run into trouble at their first stop. There are some interesting twists as Vincent and Shea begin to close in on the truth. The final confrontation was a nail-biter with multiple life-threatening moments. I enjoyed seeing the head of the corrupt cops get what was coming. I loved the comment that "The district attorney was going to make himself a hell of a career with this one."

I enjoyed seeing the development of the relationship between Vincent and Shea. From the start, Vincent thought that Shea was strong, intelligent, and generally amazing. Shea thought of herself as broken, and as she and Vincent grew closer was afraid of what would happen if he knew the truth. I loved the ending, as he demonstrated the depth of his love and belief in her. I cheered when Shea realized that she had Vincent's love no matter what. I also loved the final scene with shea's ex-husband, who also saw the changes in her.

1= dnf/What was that?; 2= Nope, not for me; 3= Yes, it was Ok; 4= I LIKED IT a lot; 5= A favorite, it was great!

Although this has been sitting in my tbrs for awhile, THE LINE OF DUTY’S attractive cover (the hero) and the Blurb are what caught my attention, particularly the extreme Alaskan climate. Well written books with frigid temperatures add tension and risk as certain as a lethal antagonist, IMO. I enjoyed LINE OF DUTY’S fast pacing, story line, and I found myself liking both main characters. I really don’t care for TSTL heroines, and I was relieved the FMC didn’t fall into that.

This is a book in the Harlequin Intrigue line by Nichole Severn.

This book was pretty convoluted in truth. There was a ton of backstory that happened before the story even started. I felt like I was struggling to keep up. I wasn’t exactly sure how connected Vincent and Shea were but she had a son he didn’t know about so I assumed not as connected as I initially thought.

Shea is heading to New York to go to a hearing so she can retain joint custody with her ex-husband. Apparently, her big secret that has a mental health overtone is what kept her from being the best mom she could be. A lot of the problems she had were of her own making due to this mental health problem. Vincent got burned pretty badly previous to this story starting and it impacted him greatly. Both of these characters have wounds, whether visible or not that have kept them from living their best life.

Life has come full circle here when Vincent’s past collides with Shea’s and they are running for their lives in the mountains, evading the bad guys, trying not to freeze to death and get back to civilization alive.

Definitely a thrilling read. I wish the story had started earlier so I could have learned a lot more about these characters and their pasts.

If you like romantic suspense, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

WOW this book was off the charts !!!!!!
The Line of Duty
is the sixth book in the Blackhawk Security series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone. I haven't read the first books and had no trouble reading this one and keeping up. After reading this story I definitely want to read the whole series !!!! This is such a great fast paced gripping, intense action packed book from the moment the plane crashed. If you’ve not yet read one of her books you’re missing out! Her writing style is so vivid you can’t help but feel a part of the story. Once i start reading it, I was glued to the pages unable to put it down. I finished this book within a few hours of starting it! Truly an excellent read from the beginning to the end. If i could give it more than 5 stars i would. Many thanks to the Author for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions I have expressed are my own.

Totally enjoyed this 6th book in the Blackhawk Security series. Vincent and Shea find themselves on the same small plane as each they rush to New York for different reasons. When the plane crashes, they must survive and also figure out who the killers want dead. Lots of twists in the story of cops, ex-cops, ex-husband and friends.

The Line of Duty was fast-paced action from the first page to the last.

Shea Ramsey has found her way out of a dark cloud that she thought would never let her go. She's leaving Alaska to go to New York to fight for her son. She doesn't expect to be sharing the plane with Vincent, someone she's worked with over the last year, and secretly credits for helping her find her way back to life.

Vincent finally has a clue to the crime he's been trying to solve for a year. To be sure, he has to return to New York where the crime happened. When he climbed on the plane in Alaska, he wasn't expecting the only other passenger to be Shea Ramsey. He's had a secret crush on her for the last year while they've worked together on cases in Anchorage. He's part of a team that has no boundaries. She's part of a team that does. None of that matters when the plane crashes. Left alone in the wilderness of Alaska to survive, Shea and Vincent have to work together to find their way back to civilization and safety. They just weren't expecting the team of hitmen sent out to make sure the crash took their lives.

Fair warning, I love Nichole's books, but you do have to suspend a serious amount of reality with this one when it comes to the massive amount of damage these two people sustain to their bodies and remain alive.

The Line of Duty was well-written, fast-paced, and a page-turner, even if you figure out who the ringleader is of the people after Vincent and Shea. Learning what the endgame is and how Vincent got caught up in it is the reveal you're waiting for at the end. Nichole always keeps her stories tight, but this one had enough romance in it to keep you engaged in the characters and make you root for the couple to find happiness as much as you root for them to survive the torture she inflicts on them. This is book six in the series and I had no problem following it without having read the previous five. If you love fast action and a hero who will do anything to protect the woman he loves, you'll want to read The Line of Duty.

Another great book by Nichole. Her Blackhawk series is a must read. We have Vincent and officer Shea Ramsey on a plane from Alaska that crashes. This book is action packed and keeps you guessing. This is a page turner with strong characters that keep you rooting for them and not wanting to put the book done till you find out what happens.

The Line Of Duty by Nichole Severn is another great book in the Blackhawk Security series.
It will take you on a ride from Alaska to New York City. With plane crashes and corrupt police, and give you a love story with Vincent Kalani and Shea Ramsey. I have loved all of Nichole's books in this series and this one won't disappoint you. This is another 5 star read that I wish I could give 10 stars for it. I got this ARC for my honest review.

Wow! There was a lot of action in this book by Nichole Severn. Our male protagonist was Vincent Kalani, a member of Blackhawk Security member who does work for hire. When he was up in Alaska working on a case, he spent time with Anchorage PD officer, Shea Ramsey. She did not like working with someone who she considered to be a vigilante. She was an officer and she did her best to uphold the law and help people. She decided she did not like working with him….but….
One day Shea and Vincent found themselves on the same plane from Anchorage to New York City. Shea had some personal business to take care of and Vincent got a lead on a former case. Then the action started. Their plane went down and they were stranded out in the middle of nowhere in the mountains of Alaska. They did have some gear, but not enough. Shea was realizing that she needed to trust Vincent if they wanted to get out of there alive. Both Shea and Vincent thought their plane was sabotaged, but for different reasons. What they did know was that a group of armed men were shooting at them. The injuries keep piling up and the reader really begins to doubt that they will be able to get out of the Alaskan wilderness.
The action was off the charts. The setting was really descriptive. I swear I was cold and needed a blanket as I was reading how cold it was in Alaska. The descriptions were that good. I would say the romance is a slow burn, but I guess since they were fighting for their lives, that makes sense. The focus was really on the criminal investigation and corrupt cops. The author also spent time exploring Shea’s experience with post-partum depression and I feel like the reader will really feel for Shea. Definitely a good read when you need some heart stopping action. You won’t be able to put it down until the story is finished.

This series just insists on keeping readers on the edge of their seats! This story is an action packed crime thriller with Blackhawk operative Vincent Kalani planning on returning to New York to continue his investigations into who was behind the murder of his colleagues in an incident in which he was badly burnt. However, he’s surprised to discover Police Officer Shea Ramsey on the same flight. The two have worked together on several cases but she’s a by the book officer who seems to have a low opinion of the Blackhawk team, assuming they stretch the law – and break it – at times. However, when their airplane crashes into the Alaskan mountains the two will need to work together to survive – especially as the crash was no accident and someone is out to get them . . . . they’re fighting to survive not only the weather conditions but those who want them dead.

This is another superb romantic suspense with great characters and plenty of dramatic action. It is a story of expectations, uncertainly, betrayal, trust, danger and deceit – a great read I recommend to anyone who enjoys this genre.

Thanks to Harlequin and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

This book was fantastic. The last book in the Blackhawk Security. I’m so sad to see this series end.
Forensics expert Vincent Kalani is after answers after an investigation he was working on that went bad. He was on the NYPD team, and he was let go. He has evidence that would maybe open up the case. When he boarded the plan heading back to New York the last person he ever thought he would see was Officer Shea Ramsey. But there she was. Unknown to him why she was there they were stumped to say the least to see each other. She didn’t give in an inch and neither did he.
She never liked him or his team, but he wanted answers. So did she. What she told him what her reason on being on the plan was well it wasn’t what he expected.

They both were in deep. What happens next was out of there control. He promised her he would help her.

Buy the book and see what happens. So much more to come and it’s nail biting to say the least.

Here is a list of the books.
1-Rules in blackmail
2-Rules in Rescue
3-Rules in Deceit
4-Rules in Defiance
5-Caught in the Crossfire
6-The Line of Duty

The Line of Duty is the sixth in Nichole Severn’s Blackhawk Security series. Operative Vincent Kalani and Officer Shea Ramsey have worked together several times during his time in Alaska, but he doesn’t expect to see her on his flight back to New York. Fortunately for them both, they make a formidable team when the tiny plane crashes, apparent victim to sabotage, and then when they need to defend themselves not simply from the harsh elements but from the killers out to make sure they don’t actually make it out of the wilderness at all.

Nichole Severn’s fast paced story of determined investigators, corruption at many levels in the organizations supposed to serve and protect, a mother’s love, and the power of trust and determination make for a page-turning read. Vincent and Shea face down numerous physical threats with superhero-type stamina and ferocity. They are able to work together to save each other many times over.

While The Line of Duty is part of a series, it stands alone, as I was easily able to enjoy it without having read the prior stories in the series. I’ll look forward to catching up now!

Blackhawk operative Vincent and and police officer Shea are on a plane together when it crashes. Now Vincent must use his skills to keep them alive in the Alaskan Mountains till they find safety as well as find out who tampered with the plane. Its clear someone wants to take them down and wont stop still they are and figure out who they are after.

This book was such a fun ride from start to beginning there was just so much going on that it became hard to put this book down. There was the whole plane crash being lost in the wilderness with the lack of supplies and the possible chance of avalanche making things tough, then there was the question of who is the person really after Vincent of was working on a side case that maybe someone would want him silenced or maybe Shea's ex having an issue with her. There were close calls twists and turns and everything you'd want in a action packed. Really enjoyed this book!

4 1/2 STARS!

Unexpected danger unites their survival instincts! With book six in her always intense Blackhawk Security series Nichole Severn brings us a gut-wrenching twist for Vincent Kalani. I've enjoyed this entire series and seeing Vincent get some answers to things that have haunted him is fulfilling.

Vincent Kalani is tough and methodical in his handling of life, but his kind heart makes him easy to like. When ghosts from his past come to life in the most dangerous way he has to find a way to keep himself and Shea safe as their connection deepens.

Shea Ramsey is a take no gruff type of cop and she doesn't think too highly of Vincent and his group of so-called vigilantes, but tough times call for drastic measures so she finds herself joining forces with him to get out of this dangerous predicament.

I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who enjoys an intense story of intrigue and danger with romance mixed in amongst a close-knit group of co-workers.

Wow! The Line Of Duty is an action-packed romantic suspense by Nichole Severn. Ms. Severn has delivered an exciting and well-written book that I couldn't put down. The characters only enhance this phenomenal story. Vincent, Blackhawk Security forensic expert is going to New York to try to solve the last thing he was working on when he was NYPD. Shea sometimes works with Blackhawk as an Anchorage Police Department officer. When their plane goes down they are forced to work together. Shea and Vincent's story is loaded with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I loved this book and look forward to my next book by Nichole Severn. Line Of Duty is book 6 of the Blackhawk Security Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Line Of Duty
A Harlequin Intrigue
Blackhawk Security
Nichole Severn
Action packed short story 15 page turning chapters you won’t want to put down. Vincent tries to distance himself from his past in NY. He thinks he can protect the team from Blackhawk Security as well as Shea by not telling them he is still investigating his old cases. He knows there is a murderer out there.
Shea shut down after the birth of her beautiful son and is adrift. After being forced to work with the Blackhawk team she begins her quest to gain all that she lost. She doesn’t trust the Blackhawk Security team at all, she doesn’t like anyone who operates on the margins of the law, until she does.
The book is definitely part of the Blackhawk Security Series but could be read as a stand-alone novel with hea. As always I wish it was longer!
I received an arc of this book.

I liked this book and really it works as stand alone if needed. Vincent is a great character and talented at his work.....i loved his persistence and how he wants to protect his teamates even if he made him forget that they were a team no matter what.
Shea i liked a lot less...i hated how she judged Blackhawks security team , thinking she was superior without really knowing them or what they do what they need to do.

The investigation was well done simply the culprit was way too evident for me , i probably should not read the characters description but in this case even just the story... it was so evident i could not believe Vincent could have missed that.

So it's a good book if you like romance suspense even if the female lead is a bit annoying and teh culprit evident you can spend a good time

Who are Vincent and Shea? What do they each do for a living? Where are each headed and why? What was Vincent's job back in NYC? How did he end up in Alaska? What happens when he tries to get on a flight? Who else shows up? Talk about a storyline that kept my body tense as I read it, holy smokes! Who are Logan and Wells? What happens that Logan changes his tune a bit with regards to Shea? You have to read this story to see what happens and who is actually behind it all! I was SHOCKED!

Oh my this one set in one of the places I want to go one day if possible. Vincent and Shea are going to draw our attention and take us on their quest. I myself could not imagine being stranded like this but then again I do get to experience it through these two. We will be stuck like glue to them we also come to know they do know each other. Funny thing is they both have this secret about the other and their feelings for them. This was not a crash that was a accident but one of a different kind and we will be front and foremost holding on to see if they survive, plus they both have some high motivators to help in it too.

I loved reading this one. For it was about honesty and respecting the badge. In this story Nichole touches on a issue that hits women after having a child, post partumn depression. She gives you a idea of the disease and its challenges. Shea Ramsey has fought this and is gaining ground with it. Vincent Kalani is driven to get answers. This story is written with answers to certain events and full of action with a touch of romance. I like Nichole's writing style. Its got just the right blend of action and romance. She draws you into the story that its hard to put down. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series. J

The Line of Duty is a part of The Blackhawk Security series, and it has been a very good series. I loved the cover and the man on the cover was so hot. Overall it was a very good read, although it did stretch the limit at times I think of how unlikely someone would still be able to function with all they have gone through. There was good chemistry between Vincent and Shea, and I would recommend this read to others. I received an ARC of the paperback and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review, all opinions expressed here are my own.

A fast paced romantic suspense!
The line of duty is part of the Blackhawk Security series but can be read as a standalone. Blackhawk operative Vincent is on the same plane as police oficer Shea. When the plane crashes in Alaska the action starts. They have to work together to survive in the wilderness and are being pursued by the killers.
It’s a good plot, I liked Vincent and Shea and how their relationship developed.

I loved this book!! Shea and Vincent are a great couple -- not really enemies to lovers, but let's say a lot of mistrust and annoyance. I've love Vincent throughout this whole series and his book did not disappoint. From a plane crash in the Alaskan wilderness to the streets of New York, Vincent and Shea's story is full of action, love, mistrust, feelings of betrayal, and, of course, that wonderful HEA! This book can be read as a standalone book, but if you haven't read the series, you're really missing out!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Shea and Vincent never in their wildest dreams thought of one crash-landing in the alaskan wilderness in mid-winter. And even scarier to find out, someone made them. A chase starts all the way from Anchorage right to the middle of NYC. And one they think they might just be safe all hell breaks loose. I Love Nichols writing. It is a bit though every now and then with all the injuries they have to conquer along the way, but it's a wonderful writing nevertheless.

Action packed! Armed with evidence from an old case Kalani heads to the NYPD by way of plane. Shea is also headed to NYC for a custody hearing. Someone doesn’t want them to get there. From the beginning the two were fighting for their lives. From a plane crash, a battle on a mountain and tons of scrapes and bruises they survived stronger than before. Wonderful way to close out the series. I was given an early copy and wrote my review voluntarily.

After a plane crash, police officer Shea Ramsey finds herself fighting for survival in the Alaska bush with Blackhawk operative Vincent Kalani. He's convinced they'll survive--if they stay together--even if they have to escape bullets and possibly drowning to get back to her son and the investigation he'd been doing off the books in NYC. But who is after them and why? Is it her ex-husband or crooked cops? And will either of them make it back alive?
