But first he’ll have to square off with one tough marine.
Pursued by a madman, single mom Lyndy Wells and her infant son become bodyguard Cade Lance’s priority assignment. This is a Romantic Suspense/Mystery, and this is the third book in the Fortress Defense series. I really loved the action/suspense/mystery in this book. This book kept me guessing. I really loved the characters in this book, and I also loved the romance in this book. I also loved when a big manly man is taking care of a baby. The ending is fill of love/romance and action/suspense, and I really love the mix of romance and suspense in this book.
After binge-reading the first two books in this Harlequin Intrigue series by one of my favorite authors, Julie Anne Lindsey, I was not disappointed.
Lindsey’s Cozy mysteries are typically more intense than average which is what I like about this series as well. Although, these characters are more serious by nature and the danger is far more real than what you’d see in her other books.
When Lyndy narrowly escapes from being targeted by a serial killer, she calls for a private security detail. Enter Cade, a Marine veteran working for Fortress Security. Together they work with local law enforcement to retrace her steps and figure out who has been targeting women in the region.
Like the other books, the characters are likable, gritty and smart. I enjoyed this and highly recommend if it you’re looking to escape for an evening.
Romantic suspense fans won't want to miss this book!
Lyndy was a serial killer's next target, but she narrowly escaped being caught. She needed protection so she called Fortress Security who sent ex-marine, Cade Lance. He worked with local police to get ideas of who was targeting women in the area. One of the ways they did that was going over Lyndy's activities looking for a connection.
This was an exciting, suspenseful book with wonderful characters. I liked how Cade and Lyndy tried to keep their relationship professional, fighting their attraction.
This book was fantastic and I highly recommend it. I love this series. Each book can be read as a standalone but you will want to read them all.
Marine Protector by Julie Anne Lindsey did not disappoint! I haven't read a Harlequin Intrigue book before, and this one makes me want to pick up more.
Single mother, Lyndy Wells finds herself in the sights of the dangerous Tom Kat Killer. After a failed attempt to kidnap her and her 5 month old son, Gus, the Tom Kat Killer will stop at nothing until he can finish what he started.
Case Lance is an ex Marine who works with Fortress Defense, and he vows to protect Lyndy and Gus at all costs.
Sparks ignite as Lyndy and Cade try to solve who the Tom Kat Killer is.
Thank you, Julie, for sending me your book! I can't wait to read more from you. Once I started reading it, it was hard to put down. I love books like that! I will definitely be checking out more Harlequin Intrigue books as well!
Being targeted by a serial rapist/killer makes Lundy rely on former Marine, Cade Lance, for protection for herself and Gus, her baby. From beginning to end the story pulls you into their lives as they work together to find out who it is. Nonstop suspense with a sweet romance that has you believing in Christmas miracles.
Another in the Fortress Defense series, in which single mother Lyndy Wells is being stalked by a man identified as a serial killer. Bodyguard Cade Lance assumes a role that throws him because he's attracted to his client. Not something that has happened before. She suggests that they give people the impression he's her boyfriend when she insists on going out, but doing so generates a near-fatal response from the person who's out to get her. Even as he kills someone else and leaves her creepy notes, Lyndy insists on trying to help the cops and Cade as they try to figure out who this person is and why.
When he finally threatens her baby boy, Lyndy has no choice but to go with the killer, but only after leaving a note begging Cade to take care of her baby. Will she live through this latest encounter? And where is Cade when she most needs him?
I really enjoyed Julie Anne Lindsey's Harlequin Intrigue book, Marine Protector. Lyndy Wells is a young single mom who is attacked by a serial killer! A member of the Fortress Defense team, Cade Lance, is hired to protect her and her five-month-old son. Apparently more than sixteen women have been victimized and they all look like Lyndy. She suggests that Cade pretend to be her boyfriend so the killer will lose interest in her. Unfortunately the attacks and threats continue to happen. Lyndy and Cade grow closer the longer he stays with her. He won't leave until the killer is behind bars. This story is part mystery and part romance. It was easy to "get into it" and I just kept turning the pages to see what happened next. Now I want to read other books by this author.
There is a serial killer on the loose, and he is intent on making Lyndy his next victim. She has other ideas. The detective in charge of the investigation suggests a bodyguard from Fortress Defense for Lyndy and her young son. Cade Lance is a former marine, and he is definitely a protector. They quickly realize that Lyndy will not be safe until this maniac is caught. This is an action packed, suspense filled novel with mystery, romance and intrigue. This is a quick, easy read with plenty of action and thrills. Julie Anne Lindsey knows how to weave a story to pull the reader into the book to the point that you are fully zoned out to everything around you! You will not be able to stop reading until you read the final page!
It was a beautiful story with romance and action. However, I found certain details that did not make sense to me compared to the other books, for example it was concluded it was a serial killer act without much more evidence beside the victim's appearance. While it was sympathetic, it did not make sense to me why the fmc, a victim, was talking and interrogating the serial killer's wife. I also felt like there was not enough exploration on the main characters' love for each other like in the first two books. Cade denied Lyndi a kiss and that he was only her protector and then did a 360 to say I love you a few pages later. There was a lack of details on why and how he did such a 360 to me. Their love was too rushed.
Marine Protector was a action packed read that I throughly enjoyed. I found the characters in the book to be strong, gritty and smart. There was lots of chemistry between Lyndy and Cade, romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres and this one certainly doesn't disappoint. I was lucky enough to win a book in a FB giveaway, and am under no obligation to leave a favorable review. All opinions expressed here are my own.
An exciting novel, full of action and suspense. There was romance, but, surprisingly, nothing spicy. It was more about the intense serial killer plot line and the interpersonal dynamics between the two characters, and the adorable interactions with the baby. It was a fun and exciting read. I would definitely read more from her!

Lyndy and Cade are thrown together when he becomes her bodyguard after a vicious attack by the Kentucky Tom Cat. A fast paced read, lots of action and tenderness. You root for this young mother and her Marine!
On the run? you need a good disguise and somewhere to hide. And someone who can protect you from the bad guys. But sometimes the bad guy is disguised as a good guy.
I love this series. Each book can be read as a standalone. This book was fantastic. Lyndy Wells is a new mother. She is working on getting back in shape. She and her son had just taken a walk, and was close to her car, when she was attacked. She knew she had to fight to save both her and her son. Come to find out the guy who attacked her is the Kentucky Tom Cat Killer. The FBI has been searching for him, along with the Police. Lyndy was the only one they know of that managed to get away. Cade was for a private security firm, and moved in to protect Lyndy and her adorable son. I loved the bond that grew between the three. One thing I loved about Lyndy is when trouble came her way, she didn’t wait to be saved. She saved herself. She was a real scrapper, refusing to be a victim. Girls learn to use your elbows, and knees, and use them if you have too.
