REVIEW ☆☆☆☆
First, that cover is too cute! As for the story, Fake It Til You Make It is delightfully charming. Sloane, this poor girl, has gone viral for accidentally posting some personal information. Now, she has to play out this scenario about a secret "guy" crush, so she finds Brady. He agrees to be a fake boyfriend "guy" because the social media exposure might save his struggling bar. There are plenty of shenanigans and cringe worthy moments in true romcom fashion. What began as a mutually beneficial business arrangement, might be a lot more than that for Sloane and Brady. Or not. Read and find out!

Hmmm... not as good as expected. I think it is because of the writing style. Fake it Till You Make It is suppose to be a comedy. Miss Harper fails to bring a cracking good time comedy.

Everything about this book is lukewarm. The characters, the plot, the conversation are all flat. There is so much inner dialog and not enough between characters dialog.

Anyway.... moving on

This is the first book that I have read from this author. It was an ok read for me. It started out great but I couldn’t get over the characters and how childish and immature they acted. I like the premise of a fake relationship but it wasn’t enough to keep me invested in the story. I am sure that others will like this story but it just wasn’t for me.

I read an early review copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

I love the fake dating trope and this book really did it right. This was such a sweet story with hilarious moments and just the right amount of steam.

I really fell in love with the author's fluid storytelling. The writing was so smooth and inviting that I fell into the story effortlessly. I really loved the premise of the story. The plot was engaging, entertaining, and intriguing.

These characters were ones that I connected with easily. I immediately gravitated towards them. Both main characters, Sloane and Brady, were developed really well and have plenty of depth. Their goals, aspirations, and heartbreaks were clearly defined in the story. They both had great character development and changed a lot through the course of the story. This cast of secondary characters was extremely fun to read about. I hope that we get to hear their stories sometime in the future.

The romance was really heartwarming. Sloane and Brady had a slow-burn romance that really made me swoon. They grow close after spending time together during their fake romance. The lines of their fake romance start to blur when real feelings start to develop between them. It was a lovely journey watching Sloane and Brady figure things out. I really enjoyed their natural chemistry.

Overall, this was a fun romantic comedy with relatable characters and lots of heart. If you are a fan of the fake dating trope then this is a book that you won't want to miss out on. I can't wait to read what's next from this author!

I was drawn to this book because of it's cover (I'm slightly addicted to romcoms with illustrated covers), but that wasn't all I enjoyed about this one. I found it to be a hightly enjoyable fake relationship romance that was very entertaining.

What I loved about this book:

1. I'm a fan of most tropes, but fake relationship is one of my top three favorites. This one tops my chart of fake relationship romances because it was a highly believable plot that I thought was very well written. The author definitely put some heart into this book and it shows.

2. I loved both of the main characters and the small town setting of this book. If you grew up in a small (I did 🙋🏼‍♀️) then you can understand Slaone's POV. Gossip travels like wild fire through small towns, especially when it has to do with someone semi famous. The slow burn romance between Sloane and Brady is completely heartwarming and I found myself rooting for them the entire book.

3. This book had the perfect amount of steam and was absolutely hilarious. I love when a book can make me laugh and cry, but ultimately leaves me smiling at the end. With everything going on, this was a perfect book to escape into.

If you love the fake relationship trope you 100% need to read this book. The author's writing was seamless, both Sloane and Brady were well developed relatable characters, and the plot was intriguing and entertaining. I will definently be reading whatever this author writes next!

Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for my gifted copy.

While I do love the fake dating trope (which is what drew me to this book), unfortunately this book was a miss for me.

The characters were a bit one dimensional and I often felt myself skimming over full pages. It’s almost like the story was trying too hard to be funny, and it wasn’t achieved.

Fake It Till You Make It was sweet, heartwarming and funny story that I loved and entirely enjoyed.
Sloane’s super-secret and very personal blog went viral and one thing that everyone wants to know is who the Guy is. Brady, grumpy bartender,is the only person other than Sloane that knows her secret so they decide to make a deal that can benefit both of them.
Even though relationship between Sloane and Brady started as fake chemistry between them was anything but it. Nothing between them was forced or rushed. Their friendship and later relationship was beyond adorable.
Sloane is funny, kind, sometimes very awkward and I adored her. I loved how grumpy, antisocial but at the same time so funny and protective Brady is. They were both so sweet and I enjoyed every moment I spent reading about them.
Fake It Till You Make It is one of those books that makes you happy and keeps you entertained the whole time you are reading them and It’s filled with amazing characters that you can’t help but love.

One of my favorite romance tropes is fake relationship and Fake It Till You Make It by Anne Harper does it wonderfully.

In this story Sloane De Carlo made the mistake of posting the equivalent to her online diary to the public. Now the world wants to know who her secret crush is and the only one who really knows is the bartender of her hometown. Since said crush is currently engaged she doesn't want the truth out. Enter the secret knowing bartender Brady Knox whose bar needs publicity before it goes down the drain. Becoming Sloane's 'crush' would solve both their problems. Like most fake relationships feelings grow, and the sexual tension can't be denied, and all of a sudden the relationship doesn't feel so fake anymore.

"Survive the next three weeks pretending to be in a public romantic relationship with one good-looking bartender. [[Audible gulp]]"

Sloane is awkward and quirky with the habit of rambling when she's uncomfortable. She doesn't feel like she belongs and struggles with her self-confidence. I enjoyed watching her grow and step out of her comfort zone. Brady was your typical grumpy attractive bartender. He enjoyed making Sloane blush and was caring when he needed to be. I loved the situations they found themselves in and was routing for them from the start. Even though I was able to foresee how the ending was going to play out it didn't take away from how sweet it was when it happened.

"Sloane was ready to completely connect with the surly, compassionate, grumpy bartender who tasted a lot like peppermint."

Fake It Till You Make It is the debut novel for author Anne Harper. This fake relationship trope romance does not in any way feel like a debut novel. The characters are well-developed and the story line never once lost my attention. I will be keeping my eyes out for all of Anne Harper's future books.

This was a light-hearted and delightful read that drew me in and kept me well entertained. It was warm and fuzzy and gave me comfort. It was an easy read that I couldn’t get enough of.

Sloane has gone viral for releasing her personal thoughts and feelings to the net. Practically everyone knows all her secrets except one—the identity of the mystery ‘Guy’ that has captured her heart. Sloane has kept this secret from everyone, including ‘Guy’ himself. Everyone wants to know who he is and waiting in anticipation to see if Sloane will come clean to him but that’s the last thing Sloane wants to do. She gets thrown into a situation and the bartender—the man she drunkenly told her secret to—pretends to be ‘Guy’. Brady decides his bar can benefit by Sloane’s popularity. They know nothing about each other and they are now faking it. Sloane has a lot to lose if people find out the truth but by spending so much time with Brady, she laughs more and feels lighter.

Sloane was so awkward and embarrassing that I felt embarrassed for her. I cringed and I laughed at her antics. It was endearing. She was so awkward around Brady and sometimes made a fool of herself but her found it to be adorable. Brady had his own reasons for pretending to be with Sloane but he was still very attracted to her. Their kisses can attest to that. It was comical to see Brady get roped into all Sloane’s tasks. I did get frustrated with him a bit. He was a little clueless at times and he could have handle some situations better. But he did make me swoon a couple of times as well.

This was a good book to read. I love fake-relationship tropes!

4.5 Highly Entertaining Stars!!

You guys … the blurb … I mean it’s #winning, amirite?!?!? Lol What grabbed me for this read was the promising shenanigans I knew would be part of the storyline, and it did not disappoint! I was highly entertained! The pretend to be or fake dating trope is one of my favorites in romantic comedies because there’s an inherent humorous component already built into it. It is impossible not to be entertained by such shenanigans LOL or at least it is for me!

Sloane and Brady entertained me from beginning to end. Yes, some of the plot points didn’t quite fit the age I had imagined them to be in, but overall, it honestly was a very relatable story that grabs you because you just can’t wait to see what is going to happen next. The secondary characters were a bonus that not only enhanced this story but promise more stories to come! (fingers crossed)

I am highly pleased with this debut novel and I’m looking forward to more from Anne Harper in the future!

Sloane's super secret, super private blog just went public and viral. Oops! And now she's faced with the repercussions of a blog confessing her unrequited long time love for someone who is engaged to someone else, and whom she never told. And there's one man she accidentally told of her unrequited love. Brady remembers the adorably awkward Sloane confessing her fantasy that she was going to marry golden boy Marcus someday, and now he plans on using Sloane's new infamous presence to help bring in customers to his bar. But can a fake relationship with Sloane stay fake once the two realize how much chemistry they have?

I luuurved this rom-com. It's seriously sweet and funny, and this couple is adorable and sexy. Awkward and quirky Sloane is the perfect match with grumpy hot bartender with a heart, Brady. It's a slow burn, sexy but sweet relationship that's pitched at the perfect intensity, not too over the top, not too clean, and all kinds of witty and funny. Loved. Loved. Loved!

I knew I was going to love this one just based on the first few pages. Sloane is quite possibly going through one of the most embarrassing moments of her life when her entire blog goes public, releasing a lot of personal stories out into the world for all to read. This includes her post about 'Guy' the unnamed, soon to be married man that she loves and no one knows about. Swept up into unwanted fame, Sloane is not overly concerned of anyone figuring out who the mystery man is, however, the one man who does know needs speaking to.

Brady is a bartender and also the man Sloane confessed her feelings to for the first time. After having a run-in with the woman of the hour, they agree to help each other out until things die down. Sloane puts his bar on the map, and he pretends to be 'Guy'. Brady doesn't necessarily know what he's signed up for but while it should annoy him, he's actually enjoying himself quite a bit.

This was wonderful. I loved the characters. I thought it was perfect for the time we're all in as I just wanted something kind and light in these not so easy times. Highly recommend picking this one up once it's out as you will surely enjoy it. The characters are likeable, the story is light and moves quick, and honestly, if you love a good fake relationship trope, this is the book for you.

I really liked this sweet, funny, emotional fake relationship romance between Sloane and Brady.

Sloane, who has used her private blog as a diary, unfortunately decides in a drunken mistake to make it public. This starts a lot of problems but also funny mistakes and a sweet romance with the bartender she told the only secret that is still a secret. He tries to help her by offering a fake relationship in return for her helping him get the costumers back to his uncle’s bar via her viral celebrity.
Their common enemy Carol, the towns rich gossip and dramatic character, thinks she has figured out Sloane’s secret and she does everything she can to ruin Sloane’s reputation and hurt Brady in the process. Brady has a secret of his own that creates problems in their relationship.

I loved Sloane and Brady and their journey to figuring out how to let go of the past and jumping into the future together. They have to fight insecurities, what they want out of life and a common enemy to find their HEA. Brady’s growl is amazing and what a scene;)! They are fantastic characters and you can’t help falling for them and their romance.
My only problem is Carol’s character was a little too much and I didn’t quite understand their forgiveness that came quite quickly.

I can definitely recommend this book.

This is a sweet charming romcom which was very engaging and cute. Easy read and simple plot. The idea of benefiting both sides to save and cover up each other own story and intention by creating a fake relationship. The funny part was, both were giving full cooperation to coordinate the story not realizing that they have chemistry in the fake relationship. Got the idea? I keep on smiling along the reading process and it was fun to learn both characters binding the storyline very well.

What I like about the book is, the author allow readers to experience together with the total faking situation and build chemistry in our hearts for these dear characters. Although I can guess the storyline lead to a happy ending. For sure, I couldn't stop humming the song. Total Eclipse of the Heart! Can't imagine how the scene was but I know that it was totally cute, romantic and rock the night!

Totally love the book and giving it 5 stars. Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange of my honest review.

Anne Harper is a new to me author and I have easily become a fan of her writing. I will definitely be reading more her work.

When Sloane’s very personal blog goes viral, everyone wants to know who Guy is, the man she has been secretly in love with all her life. Enter Brady, the grumpy and struggling bartender who is the only other person who knows Sloane’s secret. Sloane and Brady enter a fake relationship that is supposed to benefit them both, but when real sparks begin to fly, the lines between fake and real begin to blur.

Fake It Till You Make It is a slow burn rom com, where a genuine friendship is built. Sloane and Brady take the time to get to know each other and find they really enjoy each other’s company and little quirks. Sloane is a little awkward, funny and kind whilst Brady is her polar opposite with his antisocial and grumpy attitude. The pair just get each other in a way no other has and they complement each other perfectly.

I adored this book. It was a sweet and heart-warming read, and had me laughing out loud at the antics of all the characters.

Fake dating to Lovers

Typ halvt 2 pov. Uppläsare pratar på typ två olika sätt.
Tjejen som läser upp, hade sån stor dialet. Typ väldigt amerikansk söder.

Fake It Till You Make It by Anne Harper is a fun romantic comedy that I really enjoyed. Sloane De Carlo accidentally posted her private blog to public for everyone to read. Sloane has had a crush on Guy, not his real name and now everyone knows. Fortunately a local bartender know the real identity of Guy and agrees to pose as Guy, to get publicity for his bar. What could possibly go wrong? I love the quirky people and situations in this book, and watching the characters grow. I found this book to be a quick read, and recommend it to all readers who enjoy a funny romantic comedy. I plan on reading more books by Ms Harper.

Fake It Till You Make It is a very fun and light read. Perfect beach read in my opinion!

Let me start off by saying, this novel is a big 'fake-dating trope', so if you don't like that, then this is me warning you. Personally, I really enjoy this trope, and I had a blast reading this book.

The novel was a very quick read, and I found the characters to be enjoyable. Brady was the star of this novel to me. I thought his character was very well-developed and you couldn't help but love him. Sloane was also done well, and relatable. A few of the side characters were super interesting to me, and I hope that they make an appearance in other books. Sloane's brother Callum, and best friend Emma were very intriguing and i'd love to see their stories.

The premise was also super fun--Our MC Sloane, has drunkenly publicized her online journal, and it goes viral overnight. In her blog, Sloane has talked a lot about "Guy"-- the guy she has had a massive crush on since high school-- and everyone wants to know who "Guy" is. The only person in town who happens to know her secret is the town bartender Brady, who she had once again drunkenly spilled her guts to a year ago. Finding herself in a difficult situation, Brady--who just found out his ex is newly engaged to Sloane's "guy"--offers to help Sloane by pretending to be "Guy" and faking a relationship.

This book is also steamy you guys. Definitely not closed door, and had a couple of detailed scenes--not erotica level detail, but details all the same. I would give it a 3/4 on the heat scale.

I found this to be highly enjoyable, and super fun to read. The outcome of these books are pretty typical and predictable, which is why I rated it at a 4 (liked it a lot, but probably won't re-read). Like I said. It would be the perfect quick beach read, and I think a lot of romance and romcom fans will love this one!

Sloane De Carlo may have accidentally made her whole life public. Ok, she just made her blog from private to public but her blog has all the embarrassing stories of her life, her deepest secret and every emotion which she can't express she writes. Sloane fell in love with a Guy but never confessed her feelings to him and now internet wants to know who Guy is but unfortunately Guy is engaged in real life.

The only person in her teeny hometown of Arbor Bay who knows the truth is local bartender Brady Knox. And he’s not telling for a price. He’ll pretend to be Sloane’s “Guy” if she’ll use her newfound Internet fame to bring more business to his struggling local bar. But will it be so easy to hide the truth in a small town Arbor Bay where everyone knows everything about everyone. And there is a person who has vowed to steal all the limelight from Sloane

Review-

If you don't like cheesy romantic cliches this book is not for you. But I love cheesy romance where there is a sexual tension, a fun best friend, an ex lover, insecurities, gossipy town, an evil character, heartbreak, hesitance to trust and lots of hilarious accidents.

I finish this book in one sitting, it is so good. The writing is impressive it keeps you hooked from the starting line itself. I really like how the book starts with a serious statement but has a whole other meaning.

Characters are lovable. I fell in love with Sloane and Brady. This book has both the POVs which helps to understand the emotions from both the sides. I like how characters are vulnerable but they are trying to take the risk for love. And their chemistry was sizzling. I love books where you can actually feel the chemistry between the characters.

The plot is really hilarious. Situational comedy is bang on. I love the madness and eccentric way of Sloane and her small hometown. This book actually makes you laugh out loud.

There is vast character development and you can see the way they act and embrace their feelings. This book is fun, quirky but at the same time has an emotional depth which will touch your hearts.

And the ending is so perfect! I am all for cheesy surprise romantic endings and this book fills my quota perfectly. You will definitely be shedding happy tears at the end.

ARC received from

DNF @ 35%

I hate DNF-ing books, especially ARCs, but I just don’t want to complete a book I am struggling through, not when I have so much other books to read.

This book had a really funny concept that I got tired of after the beginning. We’re told Sloane has a long-time crush on Mr. Popular who never even looked twice at her. She writes about it online, while keeping his identity a secret, and lands herself a book deal, so as long as she tells the guy about her feelings, to give an ending to the book. Is that even a thing? Give an ending to the book, sure, but forcing someone to come out to the other person? Seems a bit unethical from a professional publisher.

She goes to her hometown for a few weeks and is debating doing it. The town’s Queen Bee is her crush’s brother and someone who has been nagging her forever. The only person to know the truth is Brady, a bartender who she told a year ago when drunk. So when he sees this all playing out, he uses it as an opportunity to get publicity for the bar. She gets her ending, he gets business, and both go through a fake relationship and then a fake breakup.

I made it as far as the “getting out in public” aspect. I’m sure it would have gotten cuter. And of course, I assume they fall for each other and that’s how this ends.

My issue with this book is how it’s all playing out. They seem to use their relationship and appease Ms. Queen Bee. Why? This is not high school; they are adults. So what if she’s nosy and being a bi**h?! Ignore her, walk away, and continue your game. Instead, they attend lunch with these people. We’re talking, Queen Bee, Queen Bee’s brother/Sloane’s crush, and his fiancee, who also happens to be Brady’s ex. Quite a cluster there. And then agree to be in a parade and make a float. Then she seems to be always where they are because she’s looking for gaps in the story. Again, she’s a mean girl but this is adulthood. I just highly disliked how the characters were handling this whole scenario.

It all seemed too forced and I wasn’t enjoying the book. It started strong, but didn’t remain so.

Clearly this was not the book for me. I will say I did like the plot line but beyond that it was a struggle to even finish. I hate to DNF but came so close multiple times.
I really had a rough time discerning how old these characters were, they were supposed to be adults but it read too much like high school. Writing was choppy in places and the h went from down home made up food related phrases to full out cussing- again making me wonder the age.
I won't digress, in short it wasn't for me.

DNF at 29%

Maybe it's what is happening in the world right now, or the characters, or the way this book was developed...but I just didn't believe it. There were plot holes and things that make me side eye my Kindle way too often for me to be willing to continue past the 29% mark where I gave up.

Original post here: https://reesesreviews.blogspot.com/20...

I had a difficult time getting into this book for about the first four chapters. I honestly thought I was going to need to DNF and was dreading it. I'm not sure if it was just the pacing or the main character at the beginning of this story that I didn't like, but honestly, I was ready to throw in the towel.

Then something magical happened. I'm not sure what, but suddenly I'm giving my husband the stink eye for thinking he could dare speak to me while I'm reading. I'm flying through this book like there's no tomorrow and suddenly I'm at the end of the book about two and a half hours later. I was thrown. I seriously didn't think I would like this book. Like at all. I was struggling so dang much and then boom I'm laughing, crying, stopping myself from chucking my kindle at something, and calling some very rude characters names out loud. Anne Harper, I don't know how you did it, but I ended up loving this story.

Sloane has had a hard life and the one way she was able to get through them was through her blog. Then one day she sees the guy she'd been madly in love with was engaged, she gets drunk, hits publish on her private journal blog, and BAM she becomes an overnight sensation with people wanting to publish her blog into a book and wanting her to tell them who 'The Guy' was.

To get away from it all she heads to heads to her brothers/family house to hide out for a while. She doesn't expect her home town to put such pressure in knowing who the guy was from back then but then in comes Brady the town bartending grouch to save the day. At first, Sloane doesn't know what to think of Brady claiming her mouth in front of the actual Guy, but soon she finds he's just the guy she's always needed.

Goodness, I loved this story. It was a slow build but the old but great trope of fake boyfriend/girlfriend falling in love never gets old for me. Anne Harper definitely amped up this old trope with an amazing slow build and great characters and setting. I believed every bit of this world and story and characters. This is an absolute must-read.

I was in 2 minds about this one. My score was swinging between 3 and 4 🌟
I love a fake romance story and loved the plot of this book. Sloane has accidently during a drunken state set her most private blog to public. Her blog where she rambles from everything about her rubbish first time experience to her pining after a guy she can't have. No one knows the name of the mystery guy who has stolen her heart except for local bartender Brady whom she confessed her Dark secret to during a drunken evening propping up his bar. Feeling caught between wanting to come clean and wanting no one to know her secret the pair decide to fake date so people think Brady is the guy. Brady has his own reasons for helping her out. Sloanes object of affection happens to be engaged to his ex.
The story itself was good and I enjoyed it, it had some definate laugh out loud moments and some really sweet moments. The one thing I struggled with was gauging the ages of the characters as our resident mean girl acted like she was still in high school and I struggled to get past that. Also the whole fake dating didn't seem very well thought out it was more a go with the flow and hope they don't get caught rather then trying hard not to get outed by getting to know things that couples should know about each other.
Overall a good easy read that out a smile on my face
