It took me a while to get into this book. I think the only reason that I finished it was because I wanted to find out the answer.

Then the answer was meh...

I feel that many people would enjoy this book. It just wasn't for me.

After reading the description I thought it would be right up my alley but it was very different.

The different perspectives and time jumps made it difficult to read.

I've always thought author Shari Low is brilliant. JUST. BLOODY. BRILLIANT. I loved everything about this book.

4 sisters Zoé, Yvie, Marion, and Verity. Zoe was married a month ago, but the marriage broke up just after a month. Her husband had strayed. And she found that the hotel room was paid for Ms. Dalton, which could be ANY OF HER SISTERS. What cheek!!

I loved how the author had captured the lives of the sisters, each one so different, yet so similar in their dependence on each other. It had the sisterly bond and a bit of mystery along with the various dynamics that ran between them. Love was at the core, but sometimes taking for granted covered that. Their interactions were zingy, their secrets so delicious. It was like unwrapping each layer of the shiny paper to get to the gift. Yes, that's exactly what this book was - a gift!!

I was in a book slump and generally down with life. This book perked me right up. The need to see how the lives of the sisters progressed and which of the sisters did the dark tango between the sheets, had the gossipy part of me all livened up. And the words chosen by the author had my curiosity bouncing (pun unintended) ... It was that kinda book

For me, the book was complete. An entertainer. A way to escape my problems and calm my furrowed brow.

Not what I was looking for

I was looking for a simple, relaxing romance, to pass away yet another rainy afternoon. This, is not that.
5000 characters to keep up with....flash backs from now to practically pre-historic times....this one loves that one, but this one doesn’t love that one back....this one has a one night stand with that one, but this one is actually in love with that one...the ridiculousness was just too much for me to keep up with.
This was less a relaxing afternoon romance, more a stroke inducing headache, that I couldn’t finish.

This book is going straight to my all time favorites, i loved it so much , i enjoyed it a lot , i don't know what to say , but it was pure perfection. The writing, the character's development, the twists , the ending, everything just perfect.
I enjoyed reading it with a lovely friend @booksandanneerah , discussing this book with her and coming up with diffrent theories made the reading so much fun 🥰🥰
I liked that it was realistic, i loved how she made us feel about the characters, how she made us change our point of view regarded everyone. It's all about perspectives and how when we are cought up in our own battles, we don't see what the others are going through, that it's even possible to not pay attentiom to your own sister's misery. Well i just want to say that the book is not what it looks like from the blurb, it's beyond a husband cheating on his wife, ome month after their marriage. It goes from selfishness to mentalhealth issues to happiness. This is my first book of march and what a book 🥰🥰🥰!!!

I loved reading a book set in Glasgow as thats where I live, however I found the book quite slow and very predictable. It was an OK read but not amazing.

*Sisters and Drama’s*

Four sisters Zoe the main star of the book is strong, independent, a workaholic and is in love, the problem is the man she set her heart on is in love with someone else and they break up.

Yvie - The Youngest is a nurse and a people pleaser and the one everyone puts upon to sort them out.

Marion - The eldest and a control freak organising her husband and kids and feels very undervalued and is missing something in her relationship

Verity - She is cold, closed off and is very guarded and has no problems speaking her mind.

The main story about Zoe who thinks she has everything with the man of her dreams. But he has reconnected with a past love and she has to put on a brave face because they work together.

Now in comes Ned who works with Verity, when he meets Zoe he is instantly attracted to her. For Zoe it’s not bells and whistles but he may be the answer to her broken heart. Verity is secretly fuming because she secretly has had a thing for him for years.

Now to cut a long story short there is an impromptu wedding for a promotion and the dramas start. The girls each have their own story to tell re Ned and we find out about it when a credit card is used to book a hotel room in their surname and Zoe confronts them.

Will the sisters bond or disband. The story flip flops between the past and present day. Slow build at the beginning then it improves.

I am just not feeling this book. It has been on my tbr for a while, I finally jumped in because my kindle unlimited is expiring and I am not too impressed with this book.

Right from the start it is just a mess of character descriptions. It didn’t add anything, there were so many descriptions, I didn’t remember a single one.

We follow 4 sisters throughout the story though I was never sure which one is actually our main character. Who was I supposed to be rooting for?

Maybe it wasn’t the right time for me or I wasn’t in the right mood to really take on this book but I just didn’t care about it. I didn’t care about the characters. I didn’t care to jump a year and a half back in time to suss out who started drama with who.

Not a good start. I loathe books that begin with a list of characters. It seems as if the author isn’t able to introduce them with any real competence. So I have no trust In the writing and I’m not reading on.

Maybe its me, but I really dislike a book that begins with a long list of characters with descriptions of who they all are.

It's boring and it's pointless - particularly in a Kindle - because can YOU be bothered with the faff of finding the start again just to check who someone is? I certainly can't.

If a writer is half-way competent they should be able to write a book without treating their readers as if they are stupid.

I Both Loved and Hated the writing.... I loved how the plot was moving around on different timelines and different POV'S slowly revealing the story.... But..... I was keen on that there was so many POV's to keep up with it all got a little challenging.

The Sisters

Zoe - Zoe is a little narcissistic, she is completely self obsessed - She should never have got involved with someone who works with her sister, who she doesn't even consider May have the hots for the Single hot teacher everyone else seems to know she has the hots for. Not to mention Pushing him on everyone.

Verity - My least favourite sister.... She was so Negative about everything, very Narcissistic.....

Yvie - I loved her, i wanted to slap her other sisters for being so horrid - She is like the mama bear trying to keep everyone happy and together.... Shes a little overweight and doesnt have time to look after herself as shes trying to keep everyone else together (also the only sister who has a female friend)

Marion - I did like Marion... i wasn't keen on the cheating bit - but Becoming a mum does make you loose your old self, some embrace it others fight it.... I would have liked to see how Marion and her family ended up more clearly.


The story evolves around these four sisters as they fight fall out, but ultimately come together, a slight slither of romance But this is a book of Sisterly love

Ik heb het boek nog een keer gelezen, omdat ik een aantal boeken van Shari Low aan het lezen ben en deze op een bepaalde manier met elkaar verbonden zijn, zonder dat het meteen een serie of vervolg is. Sommige dingen wist ik nog wel, maar andere was ik al vergeten. Ik heb wederom genoten van het boek. Mede doordat ik nu ook het verhaal dat vooraf gaat aan dit verhaal gelezen heb.

Een leuk boek. Echt een luchtige chicklit met toch een serieus tintje. Ik zat niet altijd echt in het verhaal, maar dat kwam omdat ik niet altijd even veel tijd had om te lezen. Wat ik leuk vind aan het verhaal is dat het niet voorspelbaar is. Soms had ik bepaalde dingen verwacht en dan was het toch net even anders. Ook vind ik het leuk hoe de vier zussen steeds closer werden na mate het verhaal vorderde. Het verhaal wordt vanuit elke zus verteld. Daardoor leer je ze goed kennen. Ook is het leuk dat een bepaalde gebeurtenis vanuit vier verschillende perspectieven wordt belicht. Zo is het bijvoorbeeld een keer eerste kerstdag. Dan lees je vier hoofdstukken over die dag, elk vanuit het perspectief van een zus. Omdat steeds bij het hoofdstuk wordt aangegeven welke gebeurtenis het is en vanuit welke zus het belicht wordt, is dat goed uit elkaar te houden. Het verhaal is grotendeels een terugblik. Alleen de stukken die op de dag zelf afspelen, wanneer Zoe er achterkomt dat haar ex-man is vreemd gegaan, spelen in de tegenwoordige tijd. Omdat die stukken vanuit de eerste persoon zijn geschreven en de andere stukken vanuit de derde persoon, moest ik dan vaak wel even schakelen. Ook omdat daarbij niet werd aangegeven dat die stukken vanuit Zoe’s standpunt waren.

This is the first book I’ve read by Shari Low and it was excellent. I must admit that I had to concentrate hard in the first few chapters because it hops not only between the four sisters, but also between timeframes. However, I was determined to stick with it because I was enjoying the story, and I was glad that I did.

We meet four siblings – Zoe, Marina, Yvie, Verity – a month after Zoe’s wedding, when she realises that the person with whom her new husband cheated was one of her sisters. She sets out to find out which one it was and discovers much more along the way.

I loved the style of writing, the humour and the interesting storyline, and I would highly recommend it.

Such an intriguing blurb that I had to pick it up.

Usually, my custom would be to read goodreads reviews before I start a book and I was surprised at the negative review.

The language is simple and the plot easy enough to interpret. I speed read it in one night. I would have loved this kinda plot 20 years ago but not now.

Ok, we all know I am on a Shari Low back catalogue mission, I thought I’d worked my way through all of the included in audible listings, then I somehow found this in my archive (please don’t ask me how, I could far easier direct you to Ibiza than navigate my audible app) and was delighted, unfortunately whilst I enjoyed this title I found it a bit confusing - see above, could easily be a user issue. I felt the story dragged a little bit, and while I normally enjoy the authors array of characters, I couldn’t keep track of who was who with this one, so it definitely hampered my enjoyment. It does however have Shari’s humour and heart and that’s always special.

I really enjoyed the narration by Carhleen McCarron for this title, she had the humour down well, I need to confess though that I did miss Helen McAlpines voice, maybe I’m just an odd little creature of habit.

I certainly won’t be put off my mission, by no means is it a bad book, it’s great infact, it just wasn’t my favourite.

First book I ever read by Shari Low. Found it hard to get into the book initially, but the more I read the more I needed to know how it ends. It’s a beautiful story about the importance of mental health and the importance of talking and opening up to our loved ones. Had me crying several times, as the parts about how childhood trauma shapes how we are and act as adults in order to cope, really resonated with me. I loved discovering all the sisters true character once you get past their walls, and really enjoyed that they reconnected at the end.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was a light read but did address alot of issues that happen in families. It was interesting to read how each of the sisters had there own personalities but yet has so many similarities that they didn't not see within each other.

No. Why a book soooo long? So many back d forth in time and between characters. At least I’d have expected something bigger as the plot. Also, not really a happy chick lit: infedility, divorce, depression, anxiety... I ended up with a bad feeling everytime I put down the book

So, this book got 2 stars purely for the plot twist at the end. I thought I had it, and then it went in a completely different direction - but it made sense.

Here’s what I took from the plot: 4 sisters, all suffering with different insecurities, respectively have some form of crush on school teacher Ned, who happens to be Zoe’s boyfriend. Zoe, obviously, has no clue that her boyfriend is a massive player, and none of her sisters are willing to tell her.
We spend the entire book switching between years, which made it very dull to read. I understand that the author was trying to provide some background, but honestly it just bored me to tears. There were so many passages that were just completely irrelevant and could have been ripped out and the book would still make sense.
Overall, this just kind of felt cheap. I felt like I’d been conned. I read the first chapter and was super excited about a giant romance that ends in disaster, and I really didn’t get that.
One good thing to take from this book was that the characters were actually quite well created. I did really enjoy reading from their different perspectives... we’ll not talk about how they basically had no personality besides the men in their lives. Except Yvie, I did quite like her personality

This has been an excellent read of sisterly love and the trying lives that they lead . This book kept you guessing and although there were time jumps I think it lead the reader to fully understand these sisters . This book is a definite read .

I wanted to rate this book 3.5 stars. I loved the storyline and the quirky jokes and sister banter but I got quite confused with all of their names. I don’t normally struggle to follow characters but I kept mixing them up in this book. Good read still and defo recommend if you like a good chick lit book

Cute book, pretty easy to read. I listened to this book and I fell in love with their Scottish accents. I enjoyed the different perspectives in the book and the changing timelines. However the ending wasn’t my fave, but it didn’t ruin the book. Fun, light hearted book to listen to.
