Man, does it feel good to be back with the Maxwell family! According to my goodreads, I added Broken Record to my tbr back in 2014 so I’ve been waiting for this book for a long time and it was worth the wait! I loved Savannah’s story.

Savannah Maxwell and Lucas Atwood have basically been friends since birth, but the timing has never been right for them. They’ve both graduated college and end up in the same town. The only thing standing in their way is Savannah’s boyfriend of three years. Lucas is willing to fight for her, but does he have a chance.. that’s the question.
“I’d fight for you to the ends of the earth if you gave me a spark of hope. But I’m not going to keep fighting a losing battle.”

Savannah has her dream job and is living in DC with her boyfriend, Easton. Easton is working on her brother Brady’s political team and things are good. Until Lucas comes back into the picture. There has always been something there between Lucas and Savanah, even though she tries to stay away, with him being in the same town now, it seems impossible. There is an undeniable spark between these two, and more than that, Lucas is the best friend she’s ever had. She has some big choices to make…

This book had ALL THE ANGST. I mean, KA Linde isn’t called the queen of angst for nothing, and she really brought it with this one. I was anxious of how this was going to go as I always am when reading her books, but I was happy with how everything turned out. Savannah and Lucas chemistry was off the charts, and it’s so obvious they were meant to be.
And then those lips were covering hers. Claiming them for his own. She forgot everything else, just let herself dive headfirst into this moment. Into the feel of his arms around her. And it felt like coming home.

This book had steam, romance, feels, and lots and lots of angst. It was so much fun catching up with the Maxwells and I enjoyed this story lots. Another great ‘Record’ read.

Broken Record by K A Linde is the fifth book in the Record series. I had no clue it was a part of a series until I received an advanced copy for review. Fortunately, it can be read as a standalone.

Characters from the previous installment made an appearance, but their roles were not integral to the plot. However, they provided some relief from the actions of the main characters, which I found annoying and immature.

Savanah (daughter of a senator and up-and-coming journalist), Lucas (Rookie basketball player) and Easton (tennis coach and an up-and-coming politician) are the focus of this story. Savanah and Lucas have been friends from birth, but romantic feelings have the potential to derail years of close friendship. Fear of losing her best friend led her into the arms of Easton, whom she has been with for three years. However, can a three-year relationship trumps years of love and friendship?

All three characters made me want to shake some sense in them. Savannah was the worst of them all. She clearly does not know what she wants. Lying to herself and toying with both men’s emotions.

Easton knew that Savannah’s feelings for him could not compare to what she felt for Lucas, but he would accept the breadcrumbs she offered. Wow! That is so messed up. He would do just about anything to keep her in his life.

I thought Lucas could do so much better than Savannah, but I guess the heart wants what it wants.

There was no chemistry between Savannah and Easton, and it was lacking for her and Lucas. I had a hard time accepting any of them as a couple. Therefore, I could not find it in myself to root for any of them being together.

As with all love triangles, someone will no doubt get hurt, and this was no different. This was a story filled with lots of misunderstandings, anger, denial and guilt. The one thing missing was communication, which never appeared until near the end. All the pain could have been avoided if only they had communicated. Their lack of communication drove the story.

Conclusion/Recommendation
It may not have been my favourite by the author, but

I enjoyed this story for what it was, an angsty, love triangle romance. If you are a fan of love triangles and angst, then you may like this story.

This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone story.

For all of their lives Savannah and Lucas have been friends. Their parents are close too so they have grown up sharing holidays and special events. At one time Savannah thought they could end up more than friends but things changed as they got older and moved on with their lives.

Savannah has just moved in with her boyfriend, after being together for three years. She loves Easton and the fact that he works for her brother means he is accustomed to being around a family steeped in politics so fits into her life well. The only time they have disagreements are usually around her friendship with Lucas.

Lucas knows that his friendship with Savannah gets under Easton’s skin and he does it anyway. He has always felt this pull between himself and her, like they were always meant to be. However, he knows when to back down and when Savannah makes it clear that she is serious about Easton he does the right thing.

Savannah may have moved forward in her relationship with Easton but if she loves him as much as she thinks she does, why does her mind wander to Lucas so often? When her mother tries to play puppet master Savannah ends up making some tough decisions about her future and things take a completely different path for her.

Lucas sees a door open and walks right through it. He knows what he wants and he has no desire to watch Savannah walk away from him again. It’s always been her for him and he is going to show her how sweet life can be if they share it together.

I have read the rest of this series so it was great to see Savannah get her happy ever after.

Oh buddy, friends to lovers to enemies and then back to lovers.

Broken Record was so freaking good. No regrets about starting with book 5 instead of going with the first book of this series. In it, you will meet Savannah and Lucas. Now I have no idea what it's like to have two families try to push you and someone else together all the time. Yes, Savi's and Lucas's parents are best friends and I did think it was cute that their moms had a dream of them getting married eventually down the road. BUT Savannah was in a pretty serious relationship with Easton - 3 years to be exact.

Low-key, hated Easton. It was also suspicious that Easton and Lucas hated one another even after 3 years of him being with Savannah. They were childhood friends but he just loved to hold things against her. Then the day that a little secret kiss came out into the open, he leaves her. Yeah he tells her she needs to figure out who she really is and what she really wants BUT we all knew that her and Lucas were meant to be.

Didn't happen right away though but the wait was definitely worth it. Yes, this book had weird little drama throughout it but the romance and everything else was there. Even the ending was adorable. Definitely makes me want to dive into the rest of the series to see all of Savannah's siblings meeting the love of their lives.

“I always thought that you were going to be mine. I knew from an early age that I would never love anyone the way that I loved you.” His eyes met her. “But I can’t control if you don’t feel the same way.”

It's been years since I read the rest of The Record Series and I didn't realize how much I missed them until I read this. Or the last time I read a book in one sitting. Kyla has always been the queen of angst and one of the only mf authors I read now and there's a reason for that.

Broken Record was that reason.

I loved the story, the plot, the angst, the characters; old and new. If you're a fan of the series then you're going to love this book. If you're a fan of angst, this will be right up your alley. I'm not going to spoil anything but I think Savannah and Lucas are definitely one of my favorite couple by Kyla.

Such a good read. Highly recommend!

K.A. Linde certainly knows how to write some angsty, emotional stories. And this one was no different. Savannah is stuck between two guys who she genuinely adores. I enjoyed feeling her feelings right along with her. Lucas was an enigma most of the story but I really enjoyed his absolute love for Sav. The story was full of back and forth feelings and emotion. It was also steamy yet also romantic. I hadn't read the other books in this series and it didn't ruin the story at all. It made me want to go back and read the others actually.

What I loved: The steam factor was off the charts! The UNC shout outs. Seeing the whole Maxwell family again. Lucas <3

What I didn't love: Savannah. I personally don't do well with characters that are wishy washy. I found myself being annoyed at her most of the book.

Angst is high with this one in old school KA fashion!

How can she choose between the easy love that she thinks she deserves and a second chance with the boy who broke her heart

•••••••••••

REVIEW: 3.75 stars--BROKEN RECORD is the fifth instalment in KA Linde’s contemporary, adult RECORD erotic, romance series. This is basketball star Lucas Atwood, and journalism graduate Savannah Maxwell’s story line. BROKEN RECORD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Savannah is Brady Maxwell’s sister (Record #1-3).

Told from dual third person perspectives (Savannah and Lucas) BROKEN RECORD follows the life-long friends to frenemies to lovers relationship between basketball star Lucas Atwood, and journalism graduate Savannah Maxwell. Savannah and Lucas have been best friends for most of their lives but four years earlier Lucas professed his love for his best friend but Savannah feared losing said best friend if things didn’t work out. Going to different colleges meant meeting new people, wherein Savannah will find herself falling in love with someone else. But graduation season meant coming face to face with one another only to discover their back and forth, tempestuous relationship hid a profound love neither one was willing to admit. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship and romance between Savannah and Lucas, and the potential fall-out as jealous, anger and their mutual history of pushing away one another may be a wall too tall to overcome.

Savannah Maxwell thought she had found love but seeing Lucas Atwood brought back too many memories of what was and what may never be. Lucas has never stopped loving Savannah Maxwell, the young woman raised to be a politician’s wife, but a woman whom Lucas wanted more than anyone else.

The relationship between Savannah and Lucas is a friends to lovers, a second chance of sorts between two stubborn and petulant people unable to let go of the past. Savannah struggles between head and heart, and Lucas battles his desire for a woman who is currently with someone else. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to Savannah’s brothers Clay and Andrea (Struck from the Record #4), Brady and his wife Liz (Record #1-3), Dylan Gonzalez, her new co-worker at The Washington Post; Savannah’s soon to be ex-boyfriend Easton, and her parents Senator Jeff and Marilyn Maxwell; and Lucas’s brother Chris.

BROKEN RECORD is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love. The character driven premise is fast paced and engaging; the characters are colorful, energetic and lost; the romance is seductive. BROKEN RECORD is an emotional and captivating addition to KA Linde’s RECORD series.

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

description

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is book 5 of the Record series - the first three telling Brady's story, the next Clay's and now at last we get Savannah's. She has no intention of following the political dynasty, but instead plans on being a journalist.

All her life Savannah has known and been best friends with Lucas Attwood. Their parents spend a lot of time together, so their lives are fully intermeshed. That said they did split when it was time to go to college, and the feelings they have had for each other somehow caused a rift. So, even though they both love each other, they both try to move on. For Lucas, his basketball ensured he was popular with the ladies, but he never really stopped loving Savi. Savannah though fell for Easton, and now, three years on is moving with him to DC to start their careers.

Easton has had to be very understanding of Savi and Lucas seeing each other often, but when he finds Lucas is drafted to DC too, he takes a drastic step to secure his woman. I felt that he behaved absolutely as I would have imagined, and have to say it was difficult to dislike him, even if he was obviously not going to win the day!

It was fun having the mix of newbie in a big newspaper office with politics, with sport - and liberal dashings of second chance romance, family obligations and a rather excessive desire to not rock the boat. I felt it worked well, and there was enough to see them as flawed individuals growing up in a slightly rarified world, and making that transition from student to worker, as well as from friend to lover. It was also good to catch up with the Maxwell clan too.

I've been a fan of the Record series ever since OFF THE RECORD came out in 2014... the first three books were about Brady and Liz, then the book was about Clay and Andrea and this one is about the youngest Maxwell sibling, Savannah. I first met her on Brady and Liz's story.

This book is about Savannah and her childhood best-friend Lucas... oh my gosh, these two were like gasoline and fire, and we all know what happens when fire and gasoline meet.

It was angsty, sexy and romantic... there's a little love triangle going on since Savi has a serious boyfriend of three years... intrigued how it all plays out in the end? I finished the book in one day. Once I started I couldn't put it down. Lucas and Savi gave me butterflies...

It's swoony, light and an easy read. It's something you'd want to pick up after a long days work... It's like reading a script of a romantic netflix movie.

Look at how elegantly and effortlessly sexy that cover is.  Those sentiments are beautifully reflected in the telling of this love story.

I don't normally do love triangles - I don't like the duplicity.  But because of the author, I thought I would give this one a go - and I'm glad I did.  I really loved this couple's struggle to work out how to find what they wanted - even if that wasn't each other.

Lovely writing; gritty characters, great storytelling.  What more could you ask for?

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

It was ok but I am probably not in a mood for it, not in the mood for back and forth angst.

Final book in the Record series is about Savannah Maxwell and the love traingle between her and Lucas and Easton. Savannah accidentally cheated on Easton with Lucas. Easton storm off and voile Lucas and Savannah got together. WTF Easton , who goes on for 2 months without contact the GF especially if you wants her back

Broken Record by K.A. Linde is full of chemistry, charming, desirable, and has two characters you're going to absolute love. I was hooked from beginning to end and was so excited to be diving back into the Maxwell family.

Savannah is such a great character. I love her charisma. She has such a fight in her too. She starts a new job and doesn't let anyone knock her down. She holds her head high and shows them all she belongs. I adored how she takes things head on and tries to figure her life out so that she's happy. But only Lucas walking back into her life can throw everything off course.

Oh ladies, you are going to be fawning over Lucas Atwood. His charm is magnetic. I loved him instantly and couldn't help but root for him. His and Savannah's chemistry is off the charts. The push and pull they have will drive you completely crazy. It's one of those books that makes you think you're gonna get one thing, but throws you for a loop.

So if you have loved the Maxwell's then you'll enjoy this book. If you're new to the series I highly recommend giving them all a read. This book has so much angst, love, and two people who try to figure it all out. I give Broken Record by K.A. Linde 4 out of 5 STARS.

M/F Romance - Second Chance Romance
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

I read only the first book in this series and then this one. While I didn't necessarily felt that something was missing, I'm unsure if the backstory between the main characters happens in previous books.

Savannah has grown up as part of the political circle. She knows that she has to act a certain way, live a certain way and that there are certain expectations of her. Now that she is moving in with Easton, her boyfriend of three years and she's getting her dream job, Savannah believes everything is on its way. When she sees Lucas again at her graduation party, she is swept back to before.

Lucas has tried to stay away as much as possible. He knows that his presence throws Savannah off a little, but he also knows that they were best friends for years and he wanted to congratulate her on starting her new life. Lucas is also getting what he always wanted - he's going to the NBA.

When Savannah's mom meddles in her life, she finds herself at a party with Lucas while Easton is back home.

This book felt very YA. It was almost like these main characters were teenagers in adult situations. I didn't like how wishy-washy the main character leads were in their attempts in their relationships. Perhaps if I had read previous books, it might have been more cohesive, but it just felt very truncated.

Also, it didn't really seem that Savannah and Lucas or Savannah and Easton really had any chemistry. They were more friends than anything and then all of a sudden there was a relationship. Overall, while it was a quick read, it just wasn't what I expected. I found myself somewhat bored with the interactions.

In this next book of the record series, we meet back up with Savannah as she is starting her new job and moving in with Easton. She thinks she has it all but Lucas comes back into her life and challenges everything.

***contains minor spoilers***

I am not completely sold on Lucas in this story. I know I may be in the minority. i don't like how they got together and how he treated her before they did. Yeah I get that he was hurting and all that, but he was just mean to her at times and it bothered me that she just shrugged it off and was like oh well. Also, when she does leave Easton like she just goes right to Lucas not at all considering Easton's feelings. I hope we get to see another book with Easton getting his HEA.

There are times when Lucas redeems himself and I can see why Savannah loved him. When they are together he is the perfect boyfriend(so to speak). Savannah is at the age where she doesn't know what she wants for her life (something we can all relate to). Her indecisiveness annoys me at times and it really took me out of the story.

Because of the issues that I had with Lucas it took my excitement from getting another dive in the series. I just don't like how Savannah handled the situation but to be fair, I don't like love triangles when there is cheating involved.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

***ARC Provided by the Author***

I love books where the characters are faced with situations that feel real. And, I get it, sometimes characters are spies and being shot at is real. However, in this title, there is something between Savannah and Lucas. The problem? Easton; Savannah's long term boyfriend.

It's not easy to make a choice that changes your entire life. Even if you think it might be one that you want to make. There's a lot to consider, a lot to be willing to give up even if you think it might be worth it.

Now, I am stuck with what I want to say. This book worked, and it worked well. It was angsty, but in a way that felt like "real" angst and not emotion that is manufactured because the author needed a strong plot.

This is a standalone title, but it has recurring characters from the other Record titles, and even if you haven't read all of them (which I actually haven't) you will be fine if this is where you pick up the story. Although, fair warning, you are going to want to read the others when you finish this one.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

***ARC received in exchange of an honest opinion***

For most part, I love K.A. Linde's writing and she can do angst really well. But unfortunately I didn't get really into Broken Record. It's a good book, don't get me wrong, but for me I felt like I missed the story from the beginning to the end.

The beginning was a bit confusing for me and then I felt like things resolved too fast, without much angst, which I craved from this book, and then it ended.

I had a hard time connecting with the characters and that made it difficult for me to really connect with the story. I liked it, but I felt like I could have liked it better. So even though I'm rating it a 3 stars, I hoped for more.

I can't wait for the next K.A. Linde's book now because I'm always excited for her new releases and hopefully the next will captivate me more!

“Don’t think. Just do what your heart tells you. Be with me, Savannah.”

Savannah's life is perfect. Recently graduated, she got the dream job and is about to move into an apartment with her longtime boyfriend. All exactly as she planned. But the return of Lucas, her former best friend, with whom she has unfinished and unresolved business, will shake that perfection.
Torn between Easton, the perfect and safe boyfriend, and Lucas, the person with whom she shared several moments and knows her like no one else, but who broke her heart, Savannah will face the biggest decision of her life. When everything she believed to make her happy begins to crumble under the weight of past secrets, rather than deciding between one of the guys, she will have to choose between facing the truth or continuing to lie to herself.
Easton represents the lull. Lucas the storm. One is an aspiring politician. The other a basketball player. With one, there is the promise of the future and the long-awaited happily ever after. With the other, the relationship is gasoline and match. Intense and explosive.
She loves them both. Each in their own way. Both have defects. And qualities. But the weight of the past will prove to be present, and before moving on, she must resolve what was left behind.
A romance about second chances, with a kind of love triangle, a bit of drama and some tough choices.
Lucas and Savannah though they love each other are toxic together. Savannah and Easton together slip into a rut, and with his jealousy and her mistakes, the fragile happiness they cling to, was no longer in existence. I hoped the three would find themselves as individuals and go their own ways. Apart.
Who will she choose? Just reading the book to know.

So I’ve read a couple of the books in this series but not all of them. It doesn’t matter what books you have and haven’t read, you’ll enjoy Broken Record and getting to know Savannah a bit more. This was a tough one for me. I’m not huge into triangle love stories and I generally end up feeling a bit sour on someone in the trio. I found that I liked all three of them. They seemed like they all wanted happiness for Savannah, who was the point person in this trio. I liked Easton, and I was kind of hoping someone would come in and swoop him up so he didn’t get hurt. However, the love and pull between Lucas and Savannah was unstoppable. They’ve been best friends for as long as they remember. They’re parents have been friends and have spent a lot of time together. It just makes sense for at least one of them to like the other.

I was a bit surprised that Broken Record wasn’t packed full of KA Linde’s spine-tingling sexy scenes. I actually appreciate that way more than I can say when it comes to a love triangle. Broken Record is full of the heart KA Linde always puts in her stories. The writing it fantastic! Really, she made me want certain things to happen as nicely as possible for people. I loved them all and I feel like that’s a difficulty in itself!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

***ARC provided in exchange for honest review***

This book is the last of Maxwell siblings. This is Savannah’s story. Savannah’s story was originally released in chapters as part of K.A. Linde’s newsletter. I was a little apprehensive to read it as I thought because of how it was written over two years and month by month. I thought it would feel choppy going from one chapter to the next, but it was so cohesive and well written. Anyone picking up this book would never be able to tell that it was orginially released in chapters.

Oh Savannah!!! Le sigh!!! Savannah and Lucas have known each other their whole lives. But after years of pushing and pulling, Savannah is finally dating someone else. Savannah and Easton are doing really good, but Savannah needs to figure out who she is and who she loves.

“I’d fight for you to the ends of the earth if you gave me a spark of hope. But I’m not going to keep fighting a losing battle. I won’t say I’m happy for you. I’ll just…disappear.” He leaned forward and swiped the tears from her cheeks. “Don’t cry for me. You just got everything you wanted.”

Cried big fat tears!!! This book got me in all the feels. K.A. Linde is one that I always know will be a good one.

She did it again. I love this series and I need Kyla to keep finding reasons to write more books.

This can be read as a standalone in this series. Though I would say go read the rest as well, you won't regret it. This is one of those worlds you are happy to dive back into. The angst and emotions are real in Kyla's books and as another reviews pointed out, this one showcases that perfectly.

I was completely in love with this read. I was in love with the characters and being back in this world. This book throws you back in and you do't even need a refresher when reading it. It was everything. This couple is everything though.

Savannah is in for a doozy with this read, but if you like a little confusion and tough choices, then you will really love this read. This was romantic and angst filled and just a spotlight on KA Linde and her amazing words.
