I didn't feel anything when I read the book. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is the fact that the author writes well and I liked one of the characters. But the plot didn't make sense, I didn't feel the connection, and I didn't feel the breakup between the main characters who were together for 5 full years! It just dosent make sense to me.
I enjoy Michele Rivera books. They are well written and the characters, though one you always seem to want to scream at, have just enough depth that you enjoy them. This one is about Parker who must decide if she should live her life with someone she "owes" or live her life with someone she loves. It's a quick read that will have you scream at Parker (but don't worry Elle actually does that for you in the book). If you have time go for it. It's on kU so its technically a free read.
I was halfway through another book when I realised Michelle L Rivera had a new book out. I immediately put down the other one and got "Wait for it"
I wasn't disappointed, as usual this author really produces a story with excellent dialogue. The premise is also something which I haven't read already in lesfic. Parkers long term girlfriend wants to open their relationship to other women. Parker is torn, this isn't something she wants but she also wants to keep her girlfriend happy.
The witty, flirty and entertaining banter between Parker and Abby are excellently done. The chemistry between the two women is also very clear. Another great read from this author.
I read this in 2016 but apparently, my review has been lost. This was a well-written book as I recall but with a frustrating premise, a live-in girlfriend asking for an open relationship, the woman devastated by this request meeting the love of her life at a bar that night and then drama as the woman who wanted an open relationship in the first place is frustrated her ex finds love. I remember being really frustrated with the main character's apparent weakness at the 3/4 mark.
I don't think this functions as a real review but at least it is a reminder for myself when I inevitably am tempted to reread it.
Michele L. Rivera has a knack for writing believable romances without using either instant-love or the slow-burn, but something in between. Wait For It is a quick, light read (which isn't a negative statement). While some of the scenarios are a bit out there (like asking to open a 5 year relationship), it was written believably. Parker's response certainly wouldn't have been mine, however I can see the psychology behind it . Exploring her further would have been interesting. Abby was a little too perfect, but I'm ok with that. I loved the dialogue/banter; it was both funny and sweet and I really enjoyed Parker's narrative. Finally, kudos to Rivera for showing Abby via Parker without relying solely on physical descriptors. I don't know if it's just me, but it feels like a lot of books I've read recently are "she's so hot" over and over again without any real connections or defined personalities.
I enjoyed reading this story and I think the place that Reese and Parker got to in their relationship happens a lot but I can't imagine opening up the relationship as a fix so I was interested in reading this book. It turned out quite well.
I may have cried just a little at the beginning and that the feelings and Reece and Abby and first dates and third dates... but just a little. Good book.
I loved the story of Abby and Parker, it's romantic and sweet. I couldn't stop reading it. I'm a fan of Michele's books, her beautiful metaphorical style is almost a poem. I definitely recommend it...
This is a great read. I was hooked from the first chapter. When I realised the story centred on an open relationship I was unsure if this would be my kind of book. But the writing is excellent, endearing, and witty.
I loved Parker and could relate to her moralistic ways and her awkwardness very much. Her partner Reese had asked for their relationship to be open to spice things up. Little did she know that Parker, who was totally against the request, unexpectedly meets a woman. Fate is fate and what will be will be. I loved the funny, easy banter between Parker and Abby. It seemed effortless.
Sensitively, honestly and cleverly written, with wit and humour, had me laughing out loud several times and also brought me to tears ( which was unexpected ) with the emotional writing that tugged at me. Then I was blindsided by a surprise event in the book and I found myself rather emotional and conflicted and even contacted the author to let her know!
This is a really wonderful read. I was totally invested in the story. I did not want to put it down and couldn’t wait to get back to it to see how it ended.
Thank you Michele for a really easy, emotional, heartwarming, funny, brilliantly written book. I absolutely loved it.
“She is delectable and I know now that before her, I have been starving.” “I want this woman in the worst way. Never in my life have I experienced such a profound want, and that frightens me.”
“I didn’t know anything was missing in my world until I met Abby, and now I know, so in choosing Reese, I’ll have to carry on in an incomplete world.” “She will never know that I was almost brave enough to be with her—she will only know that I wasn’t.”
“I did that. I stole her light.”
OMG!!!! What a book!!! Absolutely restores faith & hope in true love!! It broke my heart, pissed me the hell off & reduced me to tears, riding the emotional rollercoaster from the prolgue to the epilogue of finding & rediscovering the friendship, safety, power, pain & pleasure in real love!!!
This story was absolute perfection!!! With every page I read, the more I identified with & felt connected to these characters then the more I became invested in their journey of revealing pieces of themselves & exploring each other— hostages to the pleasure & pain, intoxication & desperation of love.
It was just so realistic & relatable. I can't begin to explain my emotions & feelings… IJS— I SO FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK!!!!
3 1/2 Platypires for Wait For It by Michele L. Rivera.
I clicked on this book from Amazon thinking it was gonna be a Latin book. I judge books based on their covers and usually do not go for adult books with cartoon drawings. Not a fan. After reading the synopsis, I realized I was wrong but still downloaded the sampled. I liked what I read and decided to read the whole novel. It's been some time since I read a f/f novel. This book is a very quick read and I really did enjoy it. I was entertained and thought it was well written. Overall it was a good book and I plan on reading more from this author.
Truth be told, I only liked the second part of the book because I don't feel comfortable with open relationships. The beginning of the book really felt like Parker was just going out with Abby to spite Reese.
I don't know how I really feel about Parker. If she didn't want an open relationship, she shouldn't have agreed to it. If she didn't love Reese, she shouldn't have carried on. And if she loved Abby, she should have fought for it earlier. Abby, on the other hand, is a nice sweet girl and very decisive.
This story hits home. Not only could I relate to the characters, but to the whole story itself. It's like an episode of everyday life, which is deeply satisfying, and, if I am not wrong, what the autor wants with her novels; to let you know you are not alone, to give you stories you can relate with, characters that you find in your everyday life. All of this while still giving you that happy ending we all wish for. :D Thanks Michele, another great story!
I loved this book! Well done characters and familiar settings. I would have liked greater depth in the Parker/Reese interplay, more show, less tell. But having Elle, as the voice of reason, she was definitely the adult in the room, worked as well.
Another great book. The only thing I didn't like, was I wanted it all to be much longer, I didn't want to see the chars go.
This story had me going through all kinds of emotions. It was sad, funny and emotional. Abbie and Parker were so much in love. They were great together. I wanted to strangle Parker for not sticking with Abbie. This is a nice love story. It has a great ending. I love this author.
Good story. I enjoyed the ups and downs of this romance. Particularly how Parker could find herself in an unfulfilling relationship through loyalty. Meeting up with Abby was a blessing in disguise for Parker. The writing style of Rivera is growing on me and she is becoming one of my go to authors.
I liked it . because I feel this is what happens when open relationships aren't open in the beginning. Someone is selfish. And thinks I know I'll have my cake and eat it two. But it backfired big time I was rooting for the unselfish one who finds someone better.
2.75 stars, the story is decent but alas I couldn't get into either major character nor believe they'd be a couple. This doesn't mean that others won't enjoy it, there is some funny musings, but if I can't connect I can't rate higher.
This was such a great story. I fell in love with the Parker and Abby love story I have read a couple of this authors story and she's pretty speculator. Her characters are relatable and her stories are believeable. Another good one
I really enjoyed this. I love Michele Rivera's writing, and I loved both Parker and Abby. They had such great chemistry, it was clear they were meant to be together but the author definitely made me 'wait for it,' lol. A very enjoyable read!
The book for the most part was enjoyable. It dragged at certain points but it was kinda cute. Towards the end tho, the author would skip months ahead in the story, which drove me crazy because playing out certain parts would've made for some interesting drama. But instead she took the easy way out and focused on stuff that was so irrelevant.
Also the relationship between Parker and Abby moved way too damn fast. After 2 weeks Parker was falling in love. I mean I get that they're lesbians and everything but goddamn...
