The Nightwatch Academy #4.5

For the Love of Justice

Rate this book
This novella is for readers of The Nightwatch Academy series.

If you haven’t read the Nightwatch Academy series, then this novella won’t make much sense to you. The events that take place happen a few months after the events of the main series and provide readers with an insight into what happened after the big climax. I strongly recommend reading the Nightwatch Academy series before reading this novella.

Change isn't always for the better, and sometimes it plain sucks!

Since the universal glamour fell, no supernatural is safe. Registration is compulsory, daemons are being rounded up and sent back to Demonica, and with the human police force sticking their oars in left right and centre, being a nightwatch agent is harder than ever.

The world has changed and we’re having to adapt. Thank god for the support of my guys. But in the early hours of the morning, just before sleep takes me, I think about him—the one who left promising to return.

Just when I decide enough is enough and that it’s time to go after him, I get the news I’ve been waiting for, followed by a shitty twist.

Harmon is back, but he’s locked in Hallow Hills Prison.

My family is so close to being complete, and not even a maximum-security prison is going to come between me and my man.

I’m going in, and I’m not coming back out without him.

If only fate could leave it at that. Nope, she has to throw in a hidden truth that could shatter our world all over again.

This time I’m not sure I’ll be able to avert disaster.

Oof. This is going to be complicated.

1. I am happy that Indigo and us readers got Harmon back;
2. It opens the door to a whole new story;
3. But it was kinda meh.

I guess I was on team open ended story. I loved how Shadow Master ended and I was happy to move on. Not everything was resolved, Harmon had to go away and I still had lingering hope for Justice's harem to grow but it was a good ending. Great even.

For the Love of Justice throws at us more questions than anything, and while it was supposed to do so to have the Nightwatch world go on, I am left with a bittersweet taste. Indigo's story is over and she got her happy ending but the world is in a worse place than before and it's probably only just getting started.

For the Love of Justice is not an epilogue and probably was never meant to be. This is the prequel of another eventual formidable story. But in the meantime, I am biting my nails.

Ah! Finally all together, as it should be! And the perfect opening for a new series to boot! I honestly don't know how Debbie Cassidy does it, but I am so glad she does. Her creative mind astounds me.

So, this was the perfect ending for Justice and her gang. Such a great series. I was late to start this series and actually had to read all 4 books to get to this one because... I am giving an honest review for this ARC. :-)

I wish I had taken another reviewer’s advice and not read this book. Yes you get a little more but it’s more in Kay’s world and it’s not a nice place. It makes the fight Justice went through pointless. She does get her men in the end but it opens up a whole new can of worms vs wrapping up lose ends.

This novella is set in the Nightwatch world, so i would suggest that you read that series and then this book will make sense. That being said, this conclusion was freaking awesome. Loved it!! A perfect little read to close out Indie's story ( I hope we maybe get to see them later ) and one I did not know I needed until I read this.

So I do not want to give the plot away or anything so I will give information loosely.

In For The Love of Justice is set in the new world after viel that fell that protected the supes. Not a lot of love is felt for them. Things are bad. So while the world it self is not doing so good, Indigo and her guys are good. But someone is missing and they set out to find him. Yeah if you know the series you know I am talking about Harmon. But what they find is not good news. He has been imprisoned. She intends to free him, but at what cost?

Yeah, I do not think I can tell you just how much I needed this and did not know it. There is twists and turns, and surprises that Debbie always throws in just for good measure. Even though this is a short read, we still get all the action that usually comes with her stories.

So overall, if you have not read this series, I would highly recommend that you do.

*Warning – you need to read the Nightwatch Academy series first before you delve into this final novella for it to make sense. You may also want to check out the companion series – The Nightwatch (since those characters are mentioned and that part of the world intertwine with this one) but it is not necessary.

The series is finally complete! I am so happy that Debbie went back and completed the circle for Indigo and her guys. She gives us a look into the new world after the universal glamor fell that protected all the supernaturals; everything has changed in a drastic way. There is some serious supernatural hatred going on and major chaos everywhere. The humans have taken over, registration is required for all supernaturals, and the nightwatch has been forced to comply with the human world and rules and are now required to help the humans police their own. They are not very popular among their kind anymore. There is a fine line that Indie and the guys are walking and one step to the wrong side could have serious, deadly complications for them all.

We get a look at the new life Indigo has carved out with her guys and even Kat, Bres, Jay, and the others from the companion Nightwatch series are included (and we get a few updates and a surprise from them). There is only one thing…or one person missing to complete Indie’s circle and have them truly feeling like a family.

Harmon has been gone for months and Indigo and they guys are done waiting for his return; she’s going to find him and bring him home. However, after Kat surprises her with news of his return she is outraged and worried at the discovery of his imprisonment. Now more than ever she is determined to let nothing stand between getting him out. With the support of her guys, her crazy plan almost works…until a new imminent doom drops in her lap and she does not know if she has the strength or will evade the impending disaster coming their way.

This novella is so, so, so amazingly good I could not put it down. I love the twists and turns and surprises Debbie throws into the mix and the ending was perfect for all the gang. There is constant action, suspense, and danger and some sexy times to enjoy. I love that Indigo gets bonding time with all her guys and the laughs and banter they all share throughout the story even during the tough times. You can tell they have all formed an amazing bond…a true family. This is a must read!

I skimmed it. Another reviewer commented that this book leaves an unpleasant vision of the world, and I agree.

This is a Novella ( short storey ) that concludes and ties up all the lose ends on Debbies Night Watch Academy series in a wonderful way.

Not often do we get an author that goes to such lengths to give us the readers the closure we needed and wanted around such a loved series but this really does tie everything up nicely whist explaining how the world has changed and setting the scene for a spin off series to start in 2021.

Harmon is back but the world as he know it has changed and he didnt know that he needed to be registered so he was thrown into prison for supernaturals. How ever what should have been a short turned into a nightmare for him when he defended one of the women who was being raped by one of the guards killing the guard in the process.

Meanwhile Echo and her men - well Echo tells her men that she is going to get him out and hatches a plan to rescue him which the go along with as she is a force of nature when she wants something.

Add to this plenty of heat and sizzle plus full on action and you have a really wonderful read However you must have read the Nightwatch Academy books otherwise you will be so confused and wont understand any of the complexites which moulds these characters together over the past or even how Harmon came to be apart from them all.

In this novella, we get a bit of a link-up with some of the main characters from two of Debbie Cassidy's books. Out of the mix, we get two major bits of news and outcomes.

1) We get a little bit of a teaser/taster of the final ending with Kat and Bres and I am so happy and excited for them

2) We finally get to see Harmon complete the task he set out to do in the last book. Having him complete that and come back to Indie just shows how great of a character Harmon is.

In true Debbie fashion, she has continued and completed her characters to the fullest. They are full-bodied, unique, caring and bad-ass. The romance is there and it is hot. The details are impeccable, as, in all her books, you really do feel like you are there whether it's at the house, on the road, or in prison .

I was so happy to read this story and I feel like the series has finally ended and I am thrilled with the ending. I will always go back to read them as they are a fantastic series, and I highly recommend these books to all paranormal fantasy, RH lovers out there.

There are notes everywhere that this is the conclusion of the Nightwatch Academy, and it surely is, but it also helps tidy up The Nightwatch Series as well, the one with Kat as the main Female Protagonist. Both epic sagas smash together in this action packed Novella that sees the HEA we've all craved for Indigo, mainly, HARMON!!!!

Harmon, Harmon.... I loved him through MOST of the Academy series (let's be honest, there were a few moments there when the he wasn't the best character) - and THIS is his moment to shine! I was so heart broken at what I thought was the end of Indigo's story in the last book. She gets her joy and completion with the men that were able to stay with her, but Harmon's departure (for very valid reasons) still hurt, and left an open wound I feared wouldn't be healed. Enter 'For the Love of Justice'!

THIS is the epilogue, and it's beautiful, wrapping things up nicely, while showcasing what the world for them is like now. Hint, it's ugly (the world, not the story)... but that ending is the perfect entrance to another tale coming in 2021.

If Ivy Asher and G.Bailey & Cece Rose intertwined characters from a realm of Game of Thrones and Harry Potter, their "baby" would be the Nightwatch Academy series. And boy, what a series it is.

The main kick ass heroine with her sarcastic, argumentative and at times rash indecision arrives at the Academy initially to keep everyone out and away but one small but equally important person manages the first crack in her impenetrable armour. As the series develops, more relationships are forged and the unlovable girl who walked into the campus is not the same woman who leaves.

I loved reading how Indigo developed and became the heroine in the story. How without realising it she formed her own private family and friends who were willing to lay down their lives for what they believed in.

This last book though, the teaser at the end hinting there's a new book to come this year, but there's nothing on Amazon. Luckily I am smart enough to sign up for Debbie Cassidy's newsletter so let's hope they'll be updates soon!

For the Love of Justice is a novella that follows on from the events of the Nightwatch Academy, though I would say reading The Nightwatch series would also help as there are a few characters mentioned from that series as well.

All I can say about this book is YES! Harmon is back, I really wanted to know what happened to him after the Nightwatch Academy, as well as how the world turned out after the ending of both the Nightwatch Academy and The Nightwatch series and this book does just that. The world has changed, and the rules have changed with it.

Some of the events at the end of the book are leading up for Cinder & Ash which is being released in 2021, definitely made me excited for that series to come out!

Answers tying all the loose ends - or rather more questions about what is to come?
This accompanying novella is not an epilogue in a true sense, more like a bridge story between the Nightwatch series and a new series to come. Indie has her happily ever after (for now, at least), and we got Harmon back, but the world is far from being well and settled. No, more dangers coming on the horizon..
Even though I sometimes lacked the complexity of the main series, with all the characters involved contrary to focusing basically only on Harmon and Indie, the book had a purpose and for me it was a means to an end well chosen. Definitely hooked me up for the series to come, while not spoiling the Nightwatch series by this little appendix.

Brings all the feels

Justice, Shadow Master without a guard, along with Brady, Kash, and Hyde is on a quest to rescue Harmon from his fate as a fomorian/moonkissed being stuck in the fomorian lands. As the story progresses a new world is forming, a different rescue mission is needed, and determining the amount sacrifice still falls to Justice but will she use her heart or her head. Debbie Cassidy’ For the Love of Justice brings all the feels and men back into the fold. I eagerly wait for the next Nightwatch World book to be released to see what happens.

I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

This book was excellent, we finally get to know what happened to Harmon!! I’ll be honest I really hate novellas, they are always to short for me. Debbie writes her novellas well, yes they are fast paced, but they aren’t missing anything. She even sets us up for where she wants this world to go next! Oh and yes, you can tell this isn’t the end of the Nightwatch World, I can’t say how she’s going to go forward, cause well I honestly don’t know, but she very obviously has plans and I can’t wait to see what she has in mind!

This novella was perfect. We get to see everyone again as well as a peek at Kat and Bres. I really enjoy how both the series are tied so well together. As always, The characters are well developed, the story is full of steam, drama and action and I was at the edge of my seat, eager to find out what happens with Harmon. I am never disappointed when it comes to Debbie and her writing and this novella ties things up so well, while leaving us eager for the next book she graces us with.

I have less time to read lately as I started teaching again after I’d been away for over 20 years and now I’m doing on-line teaching. As such, I’ve stopped reading certain genres that I like but don’t love. RH/romance is one such genre. I much enjoyed this series thanks to the author, so of course I had to read this novella that wraps the series up. It was great seeing Harmon again, but I must admit he wasn’t one of my favorite characters (don’t hurt me!! LOL!). This book is hot, and it has this author’s trademark great writing. We also get a glimpse of another new series, and I am anticipating that from the events in this book. Recommend! I was given a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

So this is a special treat after you have finished the night watch academy series. Otherwise too many spoilers will happen. It was like savoring a truffle. It was sweet and made ur heart race and filled you with joy. Loved getting to see how the characters continued on with the story after everything went down in the last book. And I’m very intrigued to see what will happen now after a life altering change occurred at the end of this book. If you loved nightwatch like I did it’s a must read.

I liked that we got closure, but I didn't feel like the story really lived up to the series.

I felt like the characters were just going through the motions of finishing out the story if that makes sense. I didn't fall into it or devour it.

I am glad that Indigo got her entire harem with her in the end, but I now have more questions. FOR THE LOVE OF JUSTICE definitely opened up the start of a new series.

Ok, I needed that! Harmon was a late addition to the party, but no less a part of our MC's heart.

I love how Debbie took her time with each guy and they all essentially got their own book to be the focus of.

Since Harmon wasnt truly a part of the family until book 4, I was happy to see more of his story and some resolution in this novella.

Sometimes novellas can fall flat, but this one certainly delivers. 😍

This novella is for readers of The Nightwatch Academy series which if you haven’t read then you will have no idea as to what is going on so I totally recommend you read this series anyways!
Anywho this novella is just awesome as it brings closure to this series with tons of steam, action and suspense. I love seeing what happened to Indigo and her guys and loved the surprises the author threw in and the ending was just perfect!

Transition

This novella is a great transition between Indigo's series and the next part of the Nightwatch. I am eager to see if Indigo continues to be the main heroine or if a new woman takes over.

I had a tough time acclimating to the world. It had changed so much from the rest of the series. I figured humans would be grateful that the Shadow Guard saved them. I wonder if the djinn will change things.

I enjoyed reading this novella. It gives us an insight into the world after the supernatural community was outed to the humans. Humanity had taken over the world and the supes were corralled. The story was centered mainly around Harmon. There were some twists and lots of action. It was a good wrap up and we get glimpse of what’s next.

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.

Ahhh.. we finally bring Harmon back into the fold. Poor fella, he’s been through so much. And Thomas..kinda wanted to smack him.
I enjoyed escaping back into the world of Nightwatch. So many things have changed, and not all for the good. It was great seeing Kat included in this novella. I was surprised with her news. I look forward to the next novella

Short and sweet

Well that is it for now and 2021 is a long way off. I enjoyed the update on Harmon otherwise I would always wonder if he made it back to her. Interesting turn of events and cannot wait to see how this decision of Indigo's plays out. Oh well the world was messed up anyway, it was probably due for another makeover.

Loved it!

An awesome novella in the Nightwatch world. We get to find out what happens next for Justice and her four men, including Harmon and Kat as well as others we love from this world. In addition, we have a lead in to a new spinoff novel, where maybe our favorite characters will make a reappearance.

Spice: 2.5/5

Quick novella read but filled with lots! I thought we finally would have a HEA but it seems the next big fight will pass to someone else. Can’t wait to read the next series! It really left us with lots of questions and a strong need to read the next story.
