Making Disciples: Helping Others Follow Jesus

Rate this book
Making Disciples gives a simple, biblical definition of discipleship, rather than a complicated theological definition based on a particular church tradition. It was written to help individuals and churches get started in the discipleship process in a way that will ensure maximum fruitfulness. You’ll get a clear discipleship process that any church can adapt to meet its evangelism, discipleship, and maturity needs.

This book is part of a series on helping pastors and churches, and congregants, learn how to do basics in the ministry. Dever approaches the process of making disciples with excellent hopes and pointers for everyone from pastors to lay leaders to the common person in the pew. He breaks the book up into three parts: what is discipling, where should we disciple, and how should we disciple. I believe they may have changed the name, but as far as I know the content would be about the same.

it has a lot of information about discipling. I learned a lot, especially in parts of the book where the author gives his own framework for what he does to disciple others. Those were the best parts of the book. But I enjoyed reading about discipling and how I can be more effective at it. Even pastors need to grow in their knowledge and ability to disciple others.

Sometimes I think discipling is a hard job and I am not up to it. This book helps you to realize that all you have to do is just take the first step and God will help you and equip you to be a good disciple who disciples others. There were many helpful tips on how to be better at discipling others. The bonus is that it helps you to be a better disciple. I recommend this book for anyone who works as part of a discipling team at a church, or wants to be a better disciple and disciple others around them.
