This novel contains graphic language and scenes and is recommended for audiences 18 and older.
This novel can be read as a standalone, but it's strongly suggested you read the Southern Werewolves Series first.
Heather MacKinnon is a USA Today best-selling romance author living in North Carolina with her husband, adorable son, and three trouble making dogs. She grew up on Long Island and spent her young adult years living in various states in New England. This led to her subsequent addiction to Dunkin’ Donuts lattes and her gratuitous use of the word “wicked”. After a lifetime of enjoying other people’s words, she decided to write down some of her own.
I enjoyed this book, but my biggest problem with it and the reason I only gave it three stars is because the events in the book also take place in another book which is in technically in a different series. Those events are glossed over in this book and not really talked about. I really wish the author would have approached this book as though it was a separate book instead of assuming everyone who read this book would have read the other ones first. While there is a note in the description for this book that you should read the other books first, it clearly says this book can be read as a standalone. I'm my opinion that means that the things that are glossed over are not important to the storyline, which again in my opinion, is not the case for this book. The murders are talked about and a big part of the beginning of this book, but all of a sudden the killer is identified and it's barely mentioned. There are other things going on too, like the solstice party which we don't see, but is mentioned and an important catalyst to how Callie and Wyatt deal with their relationship. Honestly, I feel like there's too many stories taking place at the same time. You have Callie and Wyatt, Abey and Ellie, and Bea and Will (though this is even more glossed over). All of those stories seem as though they are trying to complete with each other as well as the other things going on in this book.
The story was okay, but I hated when they started in with other things that seemed randomly placed with no lead ups. Sort of like if you've read other books in the series and they're referencing them for the timeline, but this was the first book and it just didn't flow well that way. I will try book 2, but if it's the same way then I'll likely be done with the series. Oh, and the main female character had some really annoying, selfish, and outright wrong thought processes.
It's review time 🎧 Blurb 📜: Can she resist the pull of her soul mate?

Warning ⚠️: werewolves, fantasy, mates , a strong woman, technically its a standalone and a first book but you need to read the Previous series first for better enjoyment.
Narrator score🎧 ; Tom Thor is am amazing narrator everything he does is gold. And the female narrator was good as well.
Level of steam🔥: it took time, and the book wasn't short and I kinda liked that it wasn't insta sex and it took them a while..
Level of anxiety and sadness 😱😢: you had some pent-up emotions in the story you had some drama in it... but to say this book was too harsh? It was not. I liked it.
The book itself📖: I liked the books? And the characters... I liked the story line and everything and it was sweet and lovely and somehow sad in parts but I wish the author would separate the two series... it wasn't bad but jt was more than Easter eggs (which I love actually)
Another series from the McCoys and as with the Southern Werewolves series I absolutely adored it. I was anxiously awaiting more stories from the Asheville Pack and I was not disappointed. Chasing Callie kind of runs concurrent to the Southern Werewolves trilogy from the view point of Callista “Callie” and Wyatt, there was something between the two I was dying to learn about when reading Southern Werewolves and their story is a great one. Both characters are a bit insecure and have their flaws but together they are wonderful they just have to learn to trust it.
In reading this I was taking the ride along with the couple through anger, frustration, fear, pain jealousy, the author does a fantastic job of making you feel it all. She’s also created such a wonderful world here in Asheville pack lands that you just can’t help but love all the wolves and the feel of the place.
Definitely a great read, if you haven’t read the Southern Werewolves trilogy I suggest you start there as this book will be one big spoiler for that series. It can definitely be read as a stand-alone because it catches you up but you’ll definitely miss out and the expanded version of the big mystery in the Southern Werewolves trilogy.
Among her siblings Callie is the quiet, studious one. With hardly any experience with the opposite sex she’s resigned to the fact she will live her life alone, with the exception of her siblings as family. But she’s shaken to the core with her strong reaction to one of the newest enforcers, Wyatt. The electric feeling intensifies when he’s near, so she does her best to stay far away from him. She has no desire to explore the unfamiliar feelings she’s experiencing.
Wyatt feel the pull towards Callie but knows it’s dangerous territory since she’s the alpha’s sister. Becoming invited to Abraham’s pack as an enforcer with his brother eases some of his troubles. He finally feels at home & he knows staying away from Callie is a must. He can’t let her get too close at the risk of exposing the secret he’s keeping from the pack.
Loved reading Callie’s story! After getting glimpses of Callie & Wyatt in Abraham & Elizabeth’s books, I couldn’t wait to read about their history. As annoying as the siblings are to one another they are loyal & fiercely protective. Looking forward to reading the next book!
I have a love hate relationship with this book. The beginning I loved and I couldn’t put it down but then about halfway through the book it starts skipping important things. Like who the murderer is and how they were caught. That should have been easily a entire chapter and not just a few minutes of the main character thinking about it happening. It skips several other important parts too. Like why all of a sudden did the original werewolf and crash a huge party? The author just mentions that he did when the reader doesn’t even know anything about a party or the original being part of the story until a while later. It’s thrown in there almost as an after thought and draws away from the main story. I am not sure why key parts of the storyline were omitted…. I was tempted to put the book down several times but continued to the end hoping it would get back on track but it fell short.
In a spin-off series from the Southern Werewolves, the first book is about Callie, Abraham’s sister. Callie is a nerd~ She loves reading books, conducting scientific research, and fighting for causes. She also loves her family very much. Wes and Wyatt are twins that left a pack with their human mother who has lupus. They have been turned away by all other packs to join because of their mother. Abraham lets them join his. Wyatt immediately senses something about Callie that has him acting out strangely, and she him. They battle one another and the attraction. A series of events will lead them to the right path only to be fraught with many misunderstandings~ The battle with the Charlotte pack injures Wyatt…how will he come out? What will happen to him and Callie? Another fantastic book you will not want to miss~
This was a 2.5 for me. It was an easy read, and I was entertained. Callie and Wyatt have a very obvious fated mate thing going that they somehow don't catch. I liked their interactions, though they had the same kind of arguments a few too many times.
What most upset me about the book was that all the big action scenes take place off the page! We don't get to witness even one of the outside plot issues get resolved. Why even have them?!
I really liked the family relationships on both character's sides, particularly Wyatt and his brother Wes.
Chasing Callie is a story about Callie and Wyatt finding their way to each other. Wyatt is such a good guy, and devoted to his family. Callie has big dreams and no free time to spare. She knows her goals and is willing to do whatever she has to to reach them. Wyatt instantly feels a pull to Callie, and he wants to explore it. While Callie feels the connection to Wyatt, she's not interested in any distractions. The push and pull, laughter and heartache, that these two share will keep you reading till the end. You will be rooting for their success, their happily ever after. And, along the way you may just find a few side characters that you want to get more of.😉
I loved Callie and Wyatt in the Shift series and I still love them in this but as a book its lacking solid ground. Chasing Callie is the first book in the Southern Werewolf Sisters series so it should have been able to stand on its own unfortunately too much was used from the first series the book was boring at times since you knew exactly what was coming if not why it was going to happen, but if you didn't read it and shouldn't have to as it is listed as a whole other series the book is missing substance. As much as I would like to know what happens with the other sisters I don't want to keep reading the same story from everyones perspective but also missing so much.
I’ve been waiting for this book since reading the Southern Werewolves series last year. This book did not disappoint! I loved Callie and Wyatt even though I wanted them to get out of their own way and realize what they had together. This story happens at the same time as the Southern Werewolves series so don’t feel like you need to read the last couple chapters of Rise to refresh your memory. I had never read a werewolf novel before Shift. Heather MacKinnon opened my eyes to what I was missing. I can’t recommend Heather (and her werewolves) enough...do yourself a favor and read this book!
They kept running in opposite directions but for the few times they did catch and hold on for a brief moment was always heart warming and I always needed MORE.
Callie doesn't have time for a relationship even if they are fated. She is a busy environmentalist and when Wes shows up and throws her world for a loop she is afraid. Wes has a secret he doesn't want Callie or anyone to know and his fear of rejection almost loses him Callie.
They have to face their biggest fears and insecurities and stop running from each other.
The description should have warned me that the woke factor would be over the top... it was... add in Taylor Swift and blah🤢. I love that she loves football, I can relate... not the Panthers however...lol.The story itself was okay, could have been shortened by several chapters... the relationship is definitely slower burn, Callie is annoying by the 3/4 mark of the book, too much angst and she's the cause of her own heartache. Hoping the next story is better, faster paced but two stories to complete Bea's story... it could be more of the same... too long, pacing too slow.
This was so frustrating. The plot just got completely skipped over. There would just be a summary of events that happened but not shown. They catch serial killer but don’t show it??
At first I enjoyed the build up of the relationship but damn the FMC was so self obsessed. The MC ran away and she forever threw it in his face. I was totally on his side. She was a bitch to him and did nothing to soar he his fears. Fears which he repeatedly told her about.
Honestly I was rooting for them not to get together
Callie and Wyatt are everything !!! This book had me hooked from the very first paragraph. I love the relationship between Wyatt,Wess and their mother. While she isn't a main character in this book, she is the kind of mom that everyone should have. I think the fact that each one of these people have gone through some crap within their lives makes them more relatable. I can't wait until the next book in this series comes out.
Chasing Callie another absolutely amazing read from Heather Mackinnon to add to her Southern Werewolf series. This love story between Callie and Wyatt touched my heart with their inner battles to fight the inevitable that was right in front of their faces. I could not put this book down until I finished it I absolutely cannot wait until the next book!
Chasing Callie by Heather MacKinnon is a wonderful story that I have read. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new new series written by a brand new author for me to read. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about werewolf shifters and paranormal romances.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I had a great time with this book. The characters are well developed and engaging with a hot alpha who has to chase his woman. The chemistry is undeniable throughout the pages. The storyline has an easy flow to it making for an enjoyable time reading.

I was really impressed with this book. So much excitement and danger. It kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters were intense and so loving. It takes a few stumbles but these two finally get it right. The author has such a wicked sense of humor. Loved the dialogue.
This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! I loved it! The internal struggles they have with deciding what they want are easy to relate to and my heart just melted anytime they were together.
It is a page turner. You find yourself rooting for the characters and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. Love this series and I can't wait for more. It's a book that you want to finish but don't want it to end.
This pair have one hell of a roller-coaster relationship that's for sure. From the flirting in the beginning and just getting deeper and deeper. A beautiful love conquers all story. Can't wait to read Bea's story.
I found the interaction between Callie and Wyatt to be so humorous. Their banter literally had me laughing out loud. Despite their stubbornness, they put aside their differences and accept their fated mate.
I was hoping it would concentrate more on the relationship after Ellie and Abey’s story, since that’s where it left off. It was hard to get into the past after having just read the other books, but definitely got into it the more I read.
I love how I can't help but fall in love with these characters. The book is so well written and the characters feel like friends that you are rooting for. Can't wait to read the next book!
I enjoyed this book 😊 was a bit hard at times already half knowing the storyline but was nice reading their relationship ❤ i would have liked the story to go a bit further in their story but still a great read 👌🏼
