Coming from a staunch Baptist background, prophets and prophecy were not familiar parts of my spiritual equation. Although from an early age I’d had prophetic dreams and visions, I did not have anyone to share them with. So, I found myself walking in uncharted territory with a lot of questions I was afraid to ask. There were no Schools of the Prophets where I lived.

In my adult years when my husband and I moved south, specifically Georgia and Florida; we were introduced to prophets and prophecy from an entirely different aspect. I must admit, I’ve always been quite hesitant and apprehensive when it comes to someone giving a word of prophecy over my life. Am oftentimes found to be quite cautious concerning their motives. Especially when biblical contexts speak of false prophets in the land. (1 John 4:1 ESV) I believe it was Jeremiah who was the first to call out a false prophet. (Jeremiah 28:15-17 NKJV)

With this being said, there is a need to know the truth concerning these matters, and I have been studying—digging to find these said truths. I believe some of them can be found in Prophetic Secrets. Which answers a lot of questions anyone may have concerning prophets and prophecy. Bestselling Author Jennifer Eivaz definitely hit this one out of the park! In all honesty, I’d never heard of this author, but the title of this book snatched my curiosity and I wanted to know more about it. One of the best choices I’ve ever made.

This is a cross informational book anyone can read and understand with clarity. If you are a seasoned prophet this will sharpen your gift. And if you think God is calling you to be one, this book will give you the tools to better understand the call, its activation and what true prophets are called to do. It educates you on everything from the Origins of Prophetic Ministry to Simple Tips for Interpreting Dreams. With an added bonus; How to Stir Up the Gift of Prophecy. She thoroughly defines a prophetic word and how, through the Holy Spirit, he communicates to and through us. All points are backed by scripture.

…a prophetic word does not just happen…
Eivas further writes, “Does it still surprise you then, that a prophetic word does not just happen? That it needs our partnership conjoined with prophetic wisdom to come to pass?” (pg. 44) Most people are unaware of that fact—I know I was. She fully explains the importance of these two entities working together and how, even when trouble comes, you can still have the victory.

Recognizing the voice of the Holy Spirit is crucial and oftentimes He speaks to us through the written word. The writer emphasizes that “a heart that can perceive the voice of God accurately is a purified and tender heart.” In this same chapter there is a Prophetic Activation Exercise to help place you on the right path as you begin to build up your most holy faith. Eivas differentiates between being filled with the Holy Spirit and walking in the fulness of the Spirit. (pg. 69)

As you turn each page of this book, it’s like walking into different dimensions of the prophetic with recurrent revelations on many other subjects that are all interrelated. You will need your bible, a highlighter and a notepad. I didn’t have a highlighter so my book has stars on a lot of pages!

She drives home the importance of prayer and compares it to being oxygen to our spirits. Eivas pens, “In the place of prayer is where heaven and earth meet and we experience deep communion with the Holy Spirit.” (pg. 87)

Prophetic words often have a shelf live…
To me, Chapter Six is the most revealing of all, it contains everything from how a true prophet is called to the different types of prophets and what their tasks are. This being illustrated through some of her personal experiences. Two points that stood out to me in this particular chapter were “God, who sits outside of time, actively works his purposes throughout history. At the appointed season , He will interrupt chronological time and cause the prophetic vision to become a reality.” (pg. 107) And, “Prophetic words often have a shelf live and need to be released once the season of their application has passed.” (pg. 108)

I would recommend this book to anyone who is desperately seeking the truth concerning prophets and prophecy, These 151 pages are a real eye opener. Prophetic Secrets will answer a lot of questions you may have. I know it answered mine. This book should be a required reading, especially for those who are called to the office of a prophet, or who have the gift of prophecy. It will keep them on the path of truth. This is one tool your spiritual arsenal cannot afford to be without.

Book Review--Prophetic Secrets by Jennifer Eivaz
Learning the Language of Heaven

When given the opportunity to read and review this book I had not ever heard of Jennifer Eivaz, but the title of the book peaked my interest as recently I have felt a calling to learn more about the prophetic and the supernatural. Therefore, after reading the description of the book and doing a bit of research on Jennifer, whom I found had a very extensive bio, I agreed to read and review, and I am very glad I did so.

If you are at all interested in the prophetic or feel drawn to listening to prophets and biblical prophecy, then I recommend you read this book. For me, it was definitely a great learning experience.

Over the years I have done a lot of bible studies of various types, corporately and home studies, alone and under the leadership of some well known teachers, yet I never really focused on the prophetic, and so, as I read through each chapter of this book I found myself learning many new things, useful things, interesting things, informative things, and that made me want to keep reading.

I have always been very discerning regarding spiritual things, and not one to believe anything unless first validating it with scripture, and I found Jennifer Elivaz to be the same. I felt there was nothing she was saying that was not biblically sound and she always offered scriptures to back up what she was teaching.

She offered many personal testimonies and experiences others have had in the prophetic. She shared many things about seeing and hearing prophetically, insights into dreams and visions, and how to use wisdom and be discerning. She also offers ways for the reader to personally experience walking in the prophetic, distinguishes the difference between prophesy and being called to be a prophet by showing scriptures that say we can all prophecy but not all are true prophets. There are study questions at the end of each chapter and she ends the book with more interactive resources that can be used.

It is a book that has valuable information for those seeking to learn more about the prophetic and the ministry of prophets. It is a book that you will want to keep on hand as a resource to read and re-read.

I received a copy of this book from Chosen Books, a division of Baker Publishing Group, in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

In Prophetic Secrets, Jennifer Eivaz explored the topic of understanding the prophetic word that comes from God. She described what a prophetic word is and how He can communicate through others. She looked at how prophetic ministry begin in scriptures and what we can learn from them. Moses was one of the first one and God used his mouth and taught him what to say. Another aspect she looked at was the prophet, Joel and how God would pour out his Spirit onto all people, sons and daughters would prophesy, old men will see dreams, young men will see visions, wonders will be displayed, blood and fire shown, sun turned to darkness, moons to blood, and all this would occur before Christ returns. She also explored how the Holy Spirit was released after Jesus died and rose again and how we can tap into the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit. In the book, she shared how she also learned the power of the prophetic word and what she experienced when she saw visions and dreams. She into detail about how to see into the Spiritual realm and how we can interpret dreams and visions.

I would recommend this amazing book to anyone who is ready to learn about prophecy and how we can listen to God and tell others what he is trying to communicate to them. I immensely liked the stories that she shared on what God wanted to tell others and how she was about to speak words over them. I was amazed at reading about how she was able to know some people were expecting before they knew. I also enjoyed how she encouraged readers to read Psalm 23 or 91 and listen to what God is trying to say to us. She stated how we need to listen and ask God who he is wanting us to share a certain part of the scriptures with someone today. She also said to ask them does that mean anything to them and listen for their response. I appreciated the special section about the body parts, objects, colors, and thing that we lost in our dreams and their positive or negative meaning and what they mean. I also liked how she included kingdom principles and thoughts for reflections at the end of each chapter.

"I received this book free from the publisher, Bethany House/ Chosen for my honest review.”

“Prophetic Secrets” helps readers understand the gift of prophecy and how prophetic ministry works today. Using scripture, author Jennifer Eivaz explains how and why prophets operated in the Old and New Testaments. She also details how we can know if we are called to be prophets today. Readers discover how to hear and discern God’s voice, identify the tools prophets use, and learn how to become a prophet. The calling comes with great responsibility, and this book gives readers an introduction into prophetic ministry that could occur in a home, church, business, or community.
Jennifer Eivaz writes in an engaging yet teaching style that’s easy to read and not academic. I appreciate her writing style that doesn’t speak down to me or feel like a textbook. I also appreciate that she shares testimonies in many of the chapters so I can see how prophecy actually works today.
Each chapter ends with Kingdom Principles that summarize the chapter and Thoughts for Reflection questions that help readers integrate the chapter’s truths. These features, along with reference notes at the end, enhance the book and make the content come alive. Instead of watching from the outside, I get to be a participant and apply prophetic secrets to my life.
Anyone eager to learn more about the prophetic gifts or what it means to be a prophet would benefit from reading this book.

I believe that God wants to grow my gift of prophecy (as He actually does for all of us), so I sought out a few books to learn more. Jennifer's writing style was very easy to follow, and the book is only about 150 pages so it goes fast. It's quite a practical guide and there were many things I can put into practice right away.
