Revival happens when passion for God breaks through human restraint and ignites one heart after another with his unquenchable love. Speaking with enthusiasm and vibrancy, Kim Meeder encourages readers to seek transformation of heart, soul, mind, and strength by engaging the holy fire of God's presence. Within this place, fear and pride melt away and the desire burns brightly to reach all who are losing the battle for hope. Through inspiring true encounters, Meeder challenges each believer to accept Jesus's commission to carry the living flame of his love wherever he leads.
Kim Meeder is the cofounder and director of Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch, an organization that rescues abused and dying horses and pairs them with children in need.
Kim’s first book, Hope Rising, propelled the ranch to win the national Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award and launched her extensive public/motivational speaking schedule at schools, churches, and governmental conferences across the United States. She and her husband, Troy, have been married for twenty-five years and live in Central Oregon. The size of their family fluctuates each year with the number of horses and kids that they rescue.
This book was so good! Her stories completely captivating how God worked through them! And she challenged me to dive deeper into my faith and walk with God! Must read!

In many ways, this particular book could have stood to have a different title. The author wants to inspire in the reader a fierce passion to reach and care for the hurting as a means of bringing back revival, but a great deal of this story relates to the author and her own personal drama as well as her own sense of privilege which comes through in this book about the author's travels and experiences and personal beefs with former people involved with her horse ranch in Central Oregon. It has always struck me as particularly odd how many Christian writers there are from Oregon who have such great ideas on how to revitalize American society while they cannot even encourage meaningful amounts of people in their own regions to go to church or adopt anything remotely approximating godly living. Anyway, the author certainly has a lot of experience in seeking to help the needy and appears to be aiming her book at women who are in need of encouragement about the possibility of revival in their own lives.
This book is a bit more than 200 pages and is made up of five sections and seventeen chapters. After a foreword by Focus on the Family president Jim Daly, the author writes a preface and introduction that sets up the work and its goal of inspiring and encouraging the reader. After that the first section discusses the need for God to reawaken our heart (I) by reawakening our freedom (1), our pursuit of God (2), and our love (3). After that the author calls on God to restore our souls (II), by restoring our trust (4), our faith (5), our worship (6), and our forgiveness (7). This would appear particularly appropriate for a great many of this book's intended female readers. The author then discusses how God needs to renew our minds (III), in such areas as obedience (8), belief (9), joy (10), and purity (11). The author then calls upon God to reinforce our strength (IV) through the reinforcement of our courage (12), stand (13), and discernment (14). Finally, in the fifth section, the author calls upon God to reignite our love for the lost (V) by discussing the need to reignite the testimony we have to share with others (15), the Spirit of God that is within us (16), and our will to live for God (17), after which the author concludes with a discussion of the rising revival.
I must say that as a reader I found some of the stories a bit too histrionic and overdramatic for my tastes. But this is a matter of personal taste and there is certainly a great deal that is in this book that is well worth appreciating and that will likely be enjoyed by its intended reading audience. One can see in this book the attempt of the author to demonstrate a re-ignition of her own testimony, which includes talking about fearsome encounters with drunk native Americans, or remembering the horrific events surrounding the deaths of her parents. And there are many readers who will find such moments to be genuinely touching, as it shows the author's own experiences and struggles. And for me this was the part of the book I appreciated most, seeing the author wrestle with the sorrows of her own life in a way that did not suggest mere first world problems from a privileged person who has enough resources to run a horse farm in Central Oregon as well as frequently travel for various mission and seminar trips. I just wonder if the author is sensitive enough to how such things could be seen.
In Revival Rising, Kim Meeder explained how there needs to be a revival rising up inside us and in our hearts. She going into detail about how Jesus died for us and He came to break the bondage of sin off of our lives. She describes how the world is dying without hope and we are called to be the light and to reach others. Revival begins inside of us and when we experience the true love and presence of Jesus this love should overflow and be on display to a dying world. In the book, she looked at, reawakening your heart, restoring your soul, renewing your mind, and much more. She first starts the book off by exploring the power of real love and how he expects us to truly love others. She shared one story about how she was called to love a man she met at a gas station and she felt the Holy Spirit telling her to make this guy laugh and how she would always talk to him after that day. She explains the power of letting the outpouring love of Christ and how it can greatly change someone’s life by just letting it flow through you. She encouraged readers to look for ways to connect with others and to see the unseen and possibly even leading them to Christ in the process.
In the book, she also looked at the power of your testimony and how it can encourage and help others. She opened up about her own life story and how she grew up believing her mother was beautiful and how she wanted to be just like her. She also describes her dad as being a superhero and he loved to have an adventure. One day, at age nine her whole world changed her dad’s best friend came and picked her up and her two older sisters from school. She reveals the drive to her grandparents' house and how her grandmother told them what happened. Her father murdered his wife and took his own life and she never imagined her father bring capable of murder. She remembers running from the house and she cried out to Jesus. She explained she didn’t know Jesus and wasn’t raised in church. She explained how during this time, Jesus love and hope filled her life. She explored the verse Revelation 12:10-11 and this one talks about salvation and how in the end Jesus defeats satan by the blood of the Lamb and their testimony. She stated how as believers we should all be ready to give a testimony to help others to get free and to break the power of satan off their lives.
I would recommend this life changing book to anyone who is ready to ignite a fire inside them and to have a revival in their hearts. God is always with us and we can all be transformed in our hearts, minds, and spirit. I immensely loved the many stories she told about loving others and how she was able to reach out to others in need. One of my favorite stories was a story about a boating accident and how God was with her during the event and how He helped her and this story is a remarkable story about living for God’s will. I also liked the chapter about her testimony and how she shared it with others and how it changed other people’s lives. Each chapter had a statement, scripture, and a special prayer to encourage readers in igniting their hearts in a revival. This book is perfectly released during this virus season and I truly feel like God is trying to stir up a revival in all believers and there is no time like the present to let the believers reach out to the lost and hurting.
"I received this book free from the publisher, Bethany House/ Chosen for my honest review.”
When I first started reading this book I thought I might agree with this author on most of her thoughts. I really enjoyed the beginning picture she paints and I really liked how each chapter started with a personal story from the author. Most of her stories involve some type of adventure that I would never dare to try but I enjoyed reading about. She tied these stories in beautifully with her message in that chapter.
Where I struggled is when the author said: p. 73 “Our focus should be riveted on what is so broken within our own faith that the flow of His presence is quenched by our unbelief.” She is referring to why miracles aren’t happening, why we aren’t seeing healings.
I lived there for many years and it made me angry at God. I felt entitled to miracles and healings because I was a believer and when those things didn’t happen I was mad. I believe I put so much emphasis on getting these gifts I lost sight of the giver of gifts. The greatest gift, and the only one I need, is the gift of forgiveness that was given to me through the power of Christ’s blood. My faith is broken? That’s a pretty bold statement and one I completely disagree with.
Later the author shared when she talked to a stranger and told him that Jesus loves him. I found the story interesting, and it is true, Jesus does love him. But how would the stranger every really know that without knowing what Jesus did to prove it? She never shared that with him. Yes, that is a tougher conversation then simply saying Jesus loves you but isn’t that what our faith is all about? Jesus died for you, that is how much he loves you, you can repent and be forgiven.
As always, theses are my thoughts only. If it sounds like an interesting read to you give a try.
A copy of this book was given to me by the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Here’s the deal: Kim tells some pretty wild stories by the standards of 2021, but it’s nothing crazier than what’s recoded from the early church in the New Testament. The New Testament also says that anyone with the love and blood of Jesus has the same power. Kim never takes credit for the things shes experienced. She always points back to Jesus. She never tells you want to do or what to expect, she just quotes scripture.
What if the crazy part isn’t that God is doing miracles through her and for her, but that He’s not through me because of my unconscious unbelief? Lord I believe, help me with my unbelief - Mark 9:24
Highly recommend this book by Kim Meeder who never disappoints! REVIVAL RISING contains a powerful nugget in every single chapter - pure gold. As is Kim's style, she uses her artistic flair to "draw" an anointed and impactful word picture of her adventures. Then invites the reader to partake in a delicious feast of prayer and personal application at the end of each chapter. This amazing book is a must-read for everyone experiencing life's challenges in these dark times. Once again - a POWERFUL AND TIMELY MESSAGE!
In Revival Rising, author Kim Meeder shares heavily from personal experience about revival. She encourages the reader to pursue revival through seventeen chapters like: Reawaken My Freedom, Restore My Faith, Restore My Forgiveness, Renew My Joy, and Reignite Your Spirit Within Me. I highly recommend this book.
A little long on what we do and what God should do, instead of trusting God's will. About our faith, again what God does not about us he!ping God to get it right. This book is about personal
