Two common questions generally rise to the surface for those seeking healing: Is it God's will to heal? And is it God's will to heal me?
From his personal story of suffering with coronary artery disease, to the loss of his sister to cancer, and his daughter's diagnosis of arthritis at a young age, Pastor Glen Berteau approaches these life-altering events with firsthand insight and revelation. He explains how, even in the most challenging circumstances, God can turn the worst into the best and use it all for our good.
By countering seventeen hindrances to prayer for healing, Pastor Berteau breaks through possible misunderstanding regarding God's good intentions for his children. This book can initiate in your heart the faith that moves mountains--why settle for anything less?

Questions about divine healing have always been deeply controversial and remain so for a variety of reasons, one of them being that the presence of debilitating or chronic illnesses in the life of a believer can be the occasion for people to attack their faith and can serve as a deep burden to bear on multiple levels far beyond the illness itself. When a writer or minister stakes a claim, as the author does, on the blessings of good health and divine healing as being something that God promises to all believers rather than being something that may ultimately be fulfilled only in the world to come, there are necessary consequences of this when it comes to discussing why it is that someone is not healed. In such circumstances a message can go from preaching to meddling in no time whatsoever. This danger is magnified when the writer of a book seeks to proclaim God's working of a healing miracle in his own life, which can easily color the approach that is taken to the subject of healing in general.
This book is a bit more than 200 pages and it is divided into thirteen chapters along with other materials as well. The book begins with a foreword and introduction that discuss the issue of healing. After that the author talks about the way that people can suffer from illness and feel that they have lost the joy and beauty in life (1). The author proclaims that God is into whole healing of the soul and not only the body (2) and then rhetorically asks if healing is God's will (3). This leads to a discussion of why bad things happen to good people (4), as well as the importance of being at one with Christ (5). There are questions of the worthiness (or lack thereof) of being healed (6) as well as the primary way to kill one's sin nature (7). The author discusses the reality of present miracles (8), and encourages readers not to be afraid to believe (9), while also discussing why we still need the Word of God (10). There are chapters of God's willingness to heal (11), the fate of the double-minded (12), and seventeen hindrances the author believes hinder healing (13). After this comes a conclusion, several accounts of the author's own experience of healing, and some naming and claiming of specific scriptures involving healing.
Given its complex motivations and purposes, this book is by no means an easy one to review nor to appreciate. To the extent that this book has a lot of praise to give to God for his work in healing the writer from a situation that involved prolonged oxygen starvation, this book is to be praised an account of healing. By and large, I must admit that I appreciate healing accounts to a great degree [1]. But this book's structure and approach does not permit me to enjoy this book in a straightforward fashion, because my desire to share in the author's appreciation of his healing is mixed with a sense of irritation that he views those who are not healed with such intense criticism, blaming them for their lack of healing and assuming that someone who is sufficiently faithful and godly will be healed, in stark contrast to the Bible's far more nuanced discussion of the reasons why some people are healed at some points while others are not. And this tone of being judgmental towards those whom God has not healed, for whatever reason, prevents this book from being as good as it could be. Sometimes contempt and judgmental attitudes simply get in the way of fully appreciating a work, even one like this one that I would like to appreciate a lot more than I do.
In Why Am I Not Healed, Glen Berteau explored the topic of healing and how we can receive a miracle. Glen has had his own health issues where he needed God help in getting healed. He experienced four sickness that almost cost him his life. He has coronary artery disease and five stents in his arteries. He explored how he had to go through his own testing seasons and how God gave him healing when he had a pulmonary embolism blood clot in his lungs. It was later discovered it was caused from mold found in his office. God instructed and guided him into peaching the word of God while he was still sick. After a few weeks, God healed him and he was able to breath normal again. He opened up about how wants to forgive our sins and how we can receive our healing when we also get our lives right spiritually. He explained that fear and bitterness can cause something wrong in our spirit and unforgiveness and break us down physically. He shared how speaking the word of God and learning them is like taking medication for our overall health.
In back of the book, he opened up about how a scary death experience. He had a cardiac arrest and died. He included preceptive from his wife and children on what they learned when their father died and how God was able to save his life and become a miracle. They all wrote how they learned he was dying and how they began to pray and seek God during it. It was revealed that only 1% end up recovering from going through a cardiac arrest. He also shared how he didn’t have kidney failure or memory problems afterwards.
I would recommend his awesome book to anyone who is ready to seek healing and they are pondering how they can believe God’s word and find their miracle. I liked how he shared how we need to run our race and how he opened up about how God promised him that he would become a minister and thousands would be saved. He shared how God didn’t tell him at the time about how he would have multiple near death experiences, his daughter would have rheumatoid arthritis and be handicap at 16, and his sister would die from ovarian cancer at 33. He revealed that if God did tell us what we would experience on our journey many of us may say never mind, we don’t want it. I really enjoyed how he included a special section of the book on scriptures and what to declare over our lives about healing. I also liked how he explored 17 hindrances to our healings and why people don’t get healed. I loved how in depth he went in looking at the reasons our healing may be held back. I liked how he covered how he received his healing and what he learned from God during all of the experiences.

Many believers are in a quandary regarding this question and are fighting to still believe despite their many disappointments.
Glen Berteau explains there are significant differences between miracles and healings–as he eliminates all the bells and whistles and gets right to the root of the problem. He delves into this problems like a surgeon prepped for a spiritual operation; giving the reader a complete analysis of why it is imperative to know God’s word in order to fight through and endure the sufferings that all believers encounter—no matter how many scriptures they can quote. And how our choices and decisions affect the outcome of our destinies.
That is why it is imperative to not only know God’s word, but know who He is as the final Word concerning all matters of man and realize Jesus is enough. He is trying to elevate the reader’s mindset to a higher spiritual level from the mundane existence in which many believers find themselves.
From the revelatory knowledge he gained through a death experience, to being a living breathing testimony. He walks you through seventeen roadblocks that prevent many believers from not only receiving their healings, but also from seeing their destinies fulfilled. The importance of prayer is woven throughout these 236 pages; as are some very powerful healing scriptures and declarations.
Berteau externalizes how the truths we adhere to oftentimes depend upon our perceptions. And our perceptions are usually predicated on what we see and not our faith in God. In order to be more accurate we need for our perceptions to be discerned by the Holy Spirit. That is why it is important to not only know God’s word, but know who He is — believing is just not enough. We have to know the power of God and His authority. In so doing, we recognize who we are, the power we have to move mountains and stop the devil in his tracks.
This book is for all those who have patiently stood in every prayer line and gone to every miracle crusade known to man. Who were filled with great expectations only to leave disgusted, unfulfilled and discouraged. Whether a seasoned Christian or a newbie, his writings are awe inspiring, very informative and full of revelation. The word of God says, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7) If you’ve run out of wisdom this just may be the answer you need.
Pastor Berteau is thoroughly convinced, “If we would stand up and be the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, the people Jesus died for, then we could learn who we are in Christ, and who the real enemy is.” I concur.
Healing is a highly charged subject filled with emotion. Down through the ages, a consistent cry out to God has been, “why am I not healed?!.” Glen Berteau has attempted to answer that question by stating that God wants to heal all of us.
He writes that you must have faith and be open to healing. But most important of all, you should grow closer to God by reading the Bible, meditating on it, and learning the passages. Praying every day will give you a closer relationship with the Lord, and strengthen you spiritually. Additionally, give forgiveness and repent of your sins.
If healing doesn’t come, that is the time to press in more by additional reading of God’s word. Dig for treasure by searching the scriptures for verses about healing. Ponder them daily, and claim them for your life. The author provides a lot of good scriptures in the back of the book. Here is one of my favorites:
“Christ himself carried our sins in his body to the cross, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness. It is by his wounds that you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24
Most of all, don’t lose heart if healing doesn’t come right away. Glen warns it is easy to give up. Instead, continue in prayer, scripture reading and faith. Follow the other suggestions in the book. Scattered throughout the volume, are stories of people who were healed—including the author’s own story—all of which I found fascinating.
Will you be healed with this book? That is unknown. However, if you determine to pray and read the Bible daily, it won’t hurt, and will help you in many other ways. I recommend this 5-star book to anyone interested in having God heal them.

I didn't know what to expect from a book with this title because it asks a question no one in Scripture asks. But I was pleasantly surprised to find out it is one of the best books I have read on healing.
The author stays in the Bible for the whole book, demonstrating from the Scriptures a firm foundation in what the Bible says about healing. I especially enjoyed one of the last chapters in which he covered 17 reasons you may not receive your healing yet.
I think this book can be very useful for many of us in the Western world to do not see as many healings. It helps to explain some of the reasons why you have not been healed yet. I found it very engaging.
I recommend this book to anyone who is waiting for their healing and wondering why it has not yet happened. It is encouraging that will help you see some things you may not have noticed in the Bible before.
