Harley’s tried everything to avoid Lex Luthor and his stupid “Offer”—she’s destroyed half a dozen of Lex’s drones, she’s changed her name, her cell phone number—she even faked her own death! Why won’t this bald, pasty-faced weirdo take no for an answer? Harley Quinn takes on the crossover event of the summer in this comic-within-a-comic take on “DC’s Year of the Villain”!
This feels like a deconstruction of crossover events. Harley just wants no part in Year of the Villain. That is, until the possibility that it could help her mom comes up. The DC Daily segment caught me by surprise.
I picked this issue up because of the unique variant cover. Oh man am I glad I did. This is Harley as most Harley fans know and love the character. Gone are the sad attempts to make her father a “heartless man” bent on ruining her life(woke culture as seen in the movie and new DC cartoon) but rather Harley dad is present as broken man who loves his family but makes poor decisions. That’s not the focus of this story but rather just a small rant (sorry :-( the story focus on Harley and her mother. Harley’s mom is in a coma due to her cancer and Harley is reading her comic book of the big DC event “Year of the Villain” I like how her blood family and her comic book family show up and interact as we here Harley read her DC event to them and us the reader. I’m really enjoying Humpries run and this a key issue in the current series
Thank you Harley for speaking the truth about multiverse-crossover-event-of-the-year-stories! "Year of the villain? It's August..." was an especially funny because it's true moment.
