Kanyon and Daylen #4

Retake: Take 4 of the Kanyon and Daylen Series

Rate this book
Kanyon McKane and Daylen Elliott have, for the most part, finally gotten their Guardian and Seeker relationship hang-ups worked out. Kanyon is all over the protective gig, and Daylen is serving up some serious emotional mojo. Oh, and the fated love thing is going pretty well too. Which in Hollywood speak means “cue the chaos.” Lexi Cruze, Kanyon’s kind-of sort-of ex and self-assigned nemesis, has agreed to play hostess to the biggest, baddest chic in town. Okay technically, Ma’at, an evil deity on a serious power trip, isn’t a permanent resident of this plane just yet, but that all could change if she and her new human sock puppet find a certain pocket watch with the ability to turn back time. And if finding a sin-infused article, outmaneuvering Lexi, dealing with Blue—’cause that’s just their life now—and saving the world wasn’t enough on their to-do list, add dealing with answers to decade-old questions. As past secrets and present consequences collide, an Old West showdown, literally, in the park changes everything. Kanyon sacrifices herself and her most meaningful role ever to save Daylen’s life. Guardian – Seeker no more, the only question left to answer is “Can true love really conquer all?” Only time will tell …

K.B. Draper

In 2008, K.B. Draper discovered a talent for storytelling after drinking a bottle of cheap wine at a Christmas party. One of her equally intoxicated friends said, “You are so freak’n *burp* funny. You should write a book.” The idea stuck and so did a cocktail napkin (in an inappropriate place) but that’s a totally different story. After that, K.B. Draper taught herself to write; which was challenging because she was a bad student and an even worse teacher -- but words started to make sentences, sentences made paragraphs and paragraphs eventually made a story, which came to be her first book, The U-Haul Diary.

The U-Haul Diary is a comedic, loose interpretation (okay, completely one-sided view) of the women she dated who moved in and out of her life (and house). Writing was cheaper than therapy so she continued to tell stories in her stylized rambling humor-- but her second book Close-Up is more of a modern day, will they-won’t they, oh no they didn’t, fantasy series, featuring Kanyon and Daylen, two heroines out to save the world from sin-infused articles and the supernatural bad guys. If you are looking for something a little darker then check out the Demons Series, book 1 Demons Shemons.

K.B. Draper is not a classically trained writer but she fakes it pretty okay and hopefully inspires a few chuckles along the way.

This finishes the saga, in true snark & sarcasm fashion. This series is heavy on that & pop culture references, which I love. The one draw back to it is the long burn romance, with nary hot love scene for resolution sake. Otherwise, this series is a funny & witty romp.

This was such an awesome series to read! Kanyon and Daylen are such unique characters and their friends and family, even more so. They really made all four books entertaining to me and I’m wishing that this wasn’t actually an end to the series considering...

Is this the final book in the series?!

SAPPHIC BOOK BINGO: established couple, not a romance, out of your comfort zone, unusual job; UNICORN: period (possibly other categories)

The Kanyon and Daylen series has been adventurous, fun, witty, littered with sarcasm and 80s pop culture, and hours of great entertainment. It was the perfect distraction from the sad state of my country, and it was a bummer to find there weren't more written. It blended celebrities and the paranormal with a band of misfits to seek cursed items that were connected to a greater evil. This fourth book had the most romance out of all of them, but it included more couples than just Kanyon and Daylen. Even the horses hooked up! There was potential for another (or more) to be written, but the author's site showed that this was her last one written at all, back in 2019.

Great conclusion to the series. Lots of action, wit, humor and sass, loose ends tied up and questions answered, and really wrapped up quite well. Very enjoyable read, even with some stressful moments and nice to see the additional pairings and lots of HEA's. The whole series was great and a lot of fun.

Fantastic series

A brilliant ending (although I'm hoping there will be more) to the Kanyon & Daylen story. If you haven't read these books you are seriously missing out.

Compelling from the get-go! KB Draper is one of my fave authors of all time. If you like fantasy fiction that is top-notch entertaining, you’ll love this novel. From the very first sentence, I knew it was going to be quite the ride. Loved it!
