A pop princess, a former rock star legend and the secret that could tear them apart.

Up and coming pop star, Skylar Samuelson is taking the world by storm, one country at time. It hasn’t always been easy, especially with her controlling manager mother watching over her shoulder. When Skylar trades her manager for muscled and hot Personal Assistant Brody “Savage” Kent, she realizes she wants to be controlled in an entirely different way.

Brody “Savage” Kent hasn’t always been a personal assistant, having walked away from rock stardom and the nightmare that’s haunted him. One smile from Skylar and he’s willing to lay it all on the line for her, but will the secret he’s keeping destroy both their dreams?

Savage is book 1 of The Rock Legends Series and can be read as a stand-alone novel with plenty of heat, rock star romance and a HEA.

Growing up, L.V. Lewis wanted to be an internationally known rock star, but unfortunately, lived in the wrong part of the country to pursue that career (and neither American Idol nor The Voice were available then). An early love for the written word gave her the plan B she sought. Now she pens romance novels that let her live vicariously through rock stars and other fascinating archetypes.

Not Terribly Fluid, But Brody's Tragic Story Has You Cheering For Him And Sky

Brody Kent, twenty-eight, works for "I'm Your Man, Inc," a company that specializes in placing personal assistants that offer special off-the-book services for interested clients. I.Y.M. contracts out men with an excellent work ethic who can represent clients in all social situations. Brody trains in MMA, eats healthy, and happens to be clean for five years now.

As the former guitarist and front man for The Savage, Brody is known to the adoring public only as Savage Saban, who disappeared from the public eye five years ago after Kim, his girlfriend of four years, overdosed next to him. He has since avoided the music industry that led him to addiction, and dons a cleaner look, so that only a select few would recognize him on the street today.

Brody isn't ready for love, so hookups are the only safe indulgence available to him, and working at I.Y.M. for the last year has kept his mind too busy to get lost in the darkness that otherwise consumes him.

Skylar Samuelson, just turning twenty-one, is a hot commodity. The pop star started in the entertainment industry so young that she already has an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award under her belt. Her mother, Elaine, is a barracuda businesswoman great at identifying new trends. Under Elaine's management, Sky's career has taken off.

With her European tour taking place over the summer, it is poor timing when Sky's  P.A. Amber can't travel due to her approaching due date. Knowing Sky's need to move on after a nasty breakup, her friend Alyssa recommends she contact I.Y.M. for a temporary P.A. to fill the void during Amber's absence - and to ask for the 'deluxe' package!

Sky and Brody are immediately drawn to one another when they meet to interview for the job, but Brody has many reasons to keep Sky at a distance. He doesn't really lie, but he keeps his identity a secret. Yet Sky isn't quick to give up, and she knows he has secrets. With her gentle patience, Brody slowly opens up and they eventually begin to give into their emerging feelings. While Brody must come to terms with his past, Sky must learn to stand on her own two feet as she transitions into an adult artist.

Brody and Sky are both sympathetic characters who are easy to root for. While both have struggles, they each have a patient and mature approach to tackling them. The book ends with a HFN, but continues into the next book in the series, Redemption.

This book has a good story, but the storytelling has room for improvement. There are some proofing and editing issues, but moreover, it doesn't flow smoothly. Regardless, the unfolding story of Brody's tragic past in combination with his blossoming hope for a future with Sky captures the imagination. The POV alternates between Brody and Sky. I rate this book 3.5 stars.

I won this book in a giveaway and felt obligated to read it, even though I thought of putting it down and walking away more than once. It’s not great. The story has promise but it felt rushed, cheesy, and not relatable. I found myself disliking the main character and not really rooting for the relationship. For a mere 150ish pages, it took me far too long to read. Can’t imagine I’d finish the rest of this series.

This is a first read of L.V. Lewis' work by this reader. I was impressed with the clear, clean writing style. There was an obvious level of research undertaken by Ms Lewis in order to create such an authentic, realistic and down-to-earth piece of writing. A myriad emotions were portrayed and felt by this reader. A gritty, heartfelt story. The characterizations were a little too well done (tongue-in-cheek comment; teasing the author) from the perspective of the reader being able to clearly see ill will in certain characters and other characters holding reign on wanting to engage these truly unlikable characters.

This reader looks forward to checking out more writing produced by Ms Lewis.

Good stuff.

Skylar is a pop star trying to get away from her manger mama. She hires Brody Kent as a PA, and plans on using their non-contracted services to relieve her tension.

Brody is Savage, a man with a horrible and tragic past. His girlfriend died of an OD and he was never charged in the case. He’s an addict who has been working as a PA for I’m Your Man. He likes the hook up service of it.
But he’s the worst person for Skylar and perhaps vice versa.
Cuz he’s got issues.
