Mack Bolan goes undercover as a Russian weapons dealer to infiltrate a Mexican drug lord's operation and soon discovers corruption that goes all the way to the top in the Mexican government. Original.
Don Pendleton was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, December 12, 1927 and died October 23, 1995 in Arizona.
He wrote mystery, action/adventure, science-fiction, crime fiction, suspense, short stories, nonfiction, and was a comic scriptwriter, poet, screenwriter, essayist, and metaphysical scholar. He published more than 125 books in his long career, and his books have been published in more than 25 foreign languages with close to two hundred million copies in print throughout the world.
After producing a number of science-fiction and mystery novels, Don launched in 1969 the phenomenal Mack Bolan: The Executioner, which quickly emerged as the original, definitive Action/Adventure series. His successful paperback books inspired a new particularly American literary genre during the early 1970's, and Don became known as "the father of action/adventure."
"Although The Executioner Series is far and away my most significant contribution to world literature, I still do not perceive myself as 'belonging' to any particular literary niche. I am simply a storyteller, an entertainer who hopes to enthrall with visions of the reader's own incipient greatness."
Don Pendleton's original Executioner Series are now in ebooks, published by Open Road Media. 37 of the original novels.
said the Executioner. "What's your name?" "Jorge," the man breathed. "Am I dying?" Bolan looked at the man's wounds...There was no way the Executioner could get the man to a hospital in time to save his life. "Yes," Bolan said, "you are." The dying man broke into tears. "You're dying and, like you said, you've sinned," the Executioner said. "But here, at the very end of your life, you've got one last chance to do something good." The man's eyes met Bolan's. "What?" he asked as blood dribbled from his lips. "Tell me what I can do?" "Tell me all you can about the Jimenez operation...tell me about this deal that's supposed to go down soon with hi-tech weaponry."
____ "Hombre!" a loud voice called out to his side. Bolan turned to see an overweight Mexican wearing soiled green pants and a straw hat. "What you want, amigo?" the man asked as he stopped next to Bolan. "You want woman?" I got woman." The Executioner shook his head and started to turn away but the man grabbed him by the sleeve. Bolan turned around and something in his eyes caused the Mexican to drop his hand. "Drugs?" he said. "I got smack, coke, marijuana. You want roofies, amigo I got roofies." Again, Bolan shook his head. The fat man moved in closer and in a conspiratorial way said "Paco knows what you want. You want young boy, eh? I got young boy for you." Bolan knew he didn't have time to get involved in Reynosa's street crime. But he did have time to backhand the fat man offering him the young boy, and knock out several of his teeth. So he did.
I recently found a run of these (seven) at a charity shop, so expect to see them all soon.
A solid entry in the series. I like how this older Bolan is more reliant on intel, his support staff, and his skills as a sharpshooter than in his mafia days. A bit more realistic and it gives us a better look into the mind of a guy (and a franchise) that has been for fifty-five years.
You read that right, the first novel was published back in 1969.
ugh not a good effort a very poor villain which always takes the book down a peg or two or 8. not one of my favorites maybe a Super Bolan with more details and a more independent ending
