When a phantom memory strikes, Samantha Moon's world is turned upside down. The thrilling conclusion to the "Case Files" trilogy!
Samantha Moon is about to discover that going back in time comes with some complications. Like having two memories of returning home from the Civil War.
With no explanation for why a second memory appears, Sam is left contemplating the nature of time itself, parallel worlds, and a love that might have been. Along with her own sanity.
After all, this second memory feels just as real as the first. Perhaps even more so. In fact, she's dead certain she investigated the murder of three men, uncovered a plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln, and battled a pack of bloodthirsty werewolf spies.
Samantha may not know why this alternate memory has appeared, but she does know one thing...

Another entertaining series by the J. R. Rain ☔ authors. Happy reading in 2023🌙
I of course enjoyed this book. It is a Sam Moon tale, with J.R. Rain and Kris Carey. The story was engrossing, and I love the historical background. These books are well written, with great characters, and an excellent story. It is a guaranteed good read.
Samantha tell Kingsley all about her time in the past. She meets President Davis, the first president of the Confederate States of America, a vampire who had a time ring, and a werewolf who wanted to rule the USA. Can she stop him?
Time travel. I like Samantha Moon and the other characters. I got bored in parts of the book. That is why 4 stars. But I did keep coming back to finish it. It did have a good ending.
I hate taking stats off however these were just not the best of the Samantha Moon books imo. I found myself flicking through and only scanning every 3rd or 4th page. Also I’m not sure what I’ve missed as I’m reading the books in the order J.R Rain recommends on his website, but it seems Sam has eliminated Elizabeth as per the start of this last book in the trilogy. I’m obviously going to continue reading on but a little miffed that I’ve found this out before it’s happened.
This Moon case was fantastic. Although going back in time the way she did wasn't quite expected. But to be able to do it in most people's thoughts. Sam experienced a lot but always stayed true to herself. BUT.....I would have liked to have Custis' letter revealed in its entirety. That would have icing on the cake!
I really enjoy this series! To travel in time to experience history truelly. Though different parallel words may be confusing at times. It would indeed be a great experience. I look forwards to reading more and experiencing such travels as I continue to read J.R.Rains books thank you. I most definitely would recommend reading this book and others!
This story is about Sam’s memories of her time in Richmond during the Civil War. Sam is concerned about having two different timelines of memories of how she returned from New Orleans back to the present day. In chapter two you find her and Kingsley in bed as she relates one of the timelines to Kingsley telling him about how she was a nurse and P.I. during the Civil War and met Mrs. Jefferson Davis, etc.
This is a very interesting, exciting story with a very sweet gesture at the end.
Fave scenes: Sam getting ready for the ball, helping the girl in the graveyard, Sam’s proof of time travel and Sam’s emotion on arrival back to New Orleans.
This trilogy was awesome! Once I started reading I couldn't put them down! I wish that JR Rain would write more case file stories. Please keep the Vampire for Hire stories coming, I've enjoyed them all!!!
