Slashes in the Snow

Ky
Three years ago my father walked away. Away from our MC club, all his responsibilities, and me. We haven’t spoken since the day he handed me the keys to the kingdom.

Shoved them down my throat was more like it.

I hate him, and the new family he’s playing house with. He left his entire life behind for a woman he barely knows. But I’m strong, resilient, and don’t need a damn soul to survive.
At least, that’s what I thought...until she walked into my bar.

Kira
Someone is watching me. I can feel it. I wake up in the middle of the night freaked out of my mind, paranoid a stranger is there. My skin prickles every time I leave my house, because I know someone is following me.
I’m afraid. Alone. And there’s only one person left to turn to.

The stepbrother I never met. The man my stepfather speaks so highly about, but never sees. He’s the president of a notorious motorcycle club, and exactly the kind of person I need to protect me.

Little did I know, Ky Parish, freakin’ hates my guts.

Slashes in the Snow is an enemies to lovers, stepbrother romance, romantic suspense (emphasis on romance) with dark elements. Reader discretion is advised.

To say that I’ve been going through withdrawals for M Never’s words would be an understatement. But when an ARC of Slashes in the Snow dropped on my Kindle, I inhaled page by page, falling in love with Ky and Kira.

It’s a sweet, sexy, and sometimes humorous story, but the underlying theme of forgiveness and coming to terms with who you are is ever present on each page. Even though it’s been a long wait, it is well worth it!

M. drops this intricate, forbidden romance, and it has me wondering (more like pleading and begging) if we’ll learn more about the rest of the MC. Her words deliver a poignant, steamy story that will leave you needing so much more from the Baum Squad MC, and I hope she continues with the rest of the men we meet in Slashes in the Snow.

Kira has a problem. She can feel someone watching her but she can't prove it. It's just a feeling. The sense of someone being in her home without her knowledge. The creepy crawly tingle up her spine. She's scared and she's terrified. This fear emboldens her to go to her new stepbrother for help. A stepbrother who is the president of the Baum Squad MC. A stepbrother who is a decorated war veteran. A stepbrother who should be able to scare off whoever is out there. Too bad her stepbrother hates her.

Ky is a bitter, bitter man. He feels abandoned by his father for a shiny, rich and new family. How could his father leave him? How dare he? Kira represents everything that Ky has lost. But he can't get over how beautiful she is. If helping her means helping himself to her, what could be the problem?

What I loved most about this story was how neither of these people expected what was to come. The author did a wonderful job of building up the tension between them, until it came to a head and it was either sink or swim. I'm so glad these two decided to swim together. Their relationship was pretty dynamic. They both brought a lot of baggage with them, adding to the dimension of what they could be together. It was at once painful and glorious. They each brought out the best from the other. While there was a suspenseful element to the plot, it took a huge back seat to the love story that evolved for these characters.

If you love romance and hot sex with your intrigue, Slashes in the Snow delivers!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

If you read the prequel to this book then you know the back story of how Kira's mom and Ky's father fell in love and ended up married. Now you are going to get the story of Kira and Ky. Told in duel points of view this book is nothing short of amazing. It will go down as one of my favorite M. Never books. Kira has a problem. She just knows with everything that is in her that she is being followed and her parents are out of the country for a launch in Paris of her moms makeup company. Left with no choice she goes to Ky for help. However the moment she walks into the bar she is denied access to him and all these guys are surrounding her until Ky stops them. He hates her and she has no idea why. I fell in love with these two characters and this story just sucks you in so hard your not going to be able to lay this book down. These two have some amazing banter, explosive chemistry and most of all watching them fall in love just melted my heart. I was so sad that my time with these characters ended. I can't wait to see what M. Never gives us next.

3 Slash & Snow Stars

Told in dual POV, 1st person, it’s the first installment in the "Baum Squad" series and can be read as a standalone. Although I can’t say why I didn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted but I say this it started really good (I love enemies-to-lovers stories) but then around the middle, it lost me! It’s angsty, fast-paced and I'm in love with the cover! All in all, it was an okay read and hope you enjoy it!

I was super excited to read M Never's Slashes in the Snow as I read and loved the prequel: Snowfall. I knew Ky and Kira's story would be delicious as we got a hint of the chemistry between them!

Racked with anger and betrayal, Ky Parish is left to deal with the ramifications of his father's abandonment when he stepped down as President of their MC after meeting and marrying his dream woman. But when Ky's stepsister, Kira Kendrick, comes to him for help and protection they are forced to be in close quarters for a month. But like all of M. Never's stories, the sexual chemistry between Ky and Kira was combustible and fiery. That, combined with a suspenseful stalker, made for some very heated moments.

I really enjoyed this story and Ky and Kira's connection. Gritty MC, stepsibling and enemies to lovers stories are right down my alley so I could not jump aboard this story fast enough. But while I thought the story was good, I did have some issues. I felt like there really wasn't ever any type of closure from Snowfall on Gerald's part as to why he did what he did. While Ky ultimately understood the transformative power of love, it did not explain how as a parent Gerald could in good conscience cut off ties with his family without an explanation. He never addressed nor took responsibility for his own actions.

Furthermore, while Ky and Kira were dirty and delicious, their connection basically (in my opinion) went from zero to ninety in the last week they were living together. It would have been nice to see more of their emotional connection build up versus a quick realization during their last week together. All in all, this was a good, sexy read from this author. 3.5 stars! ~Ratula

When Kira’s mom marries Ky’s father, she ends up with a stepbrother she never met. However, when she runs into some trouble, Kira decides Ky might be the one person able to help her out. This might of been the best or worst decision she ever had walking into Ky “Slash” Parish’s MC Bar, The Lions Den. Ky hasn’t spoken to his father since he abandoned their MC for his new wife, so imagine his surprise when the sexiest woman he ever saw walks into his bar asking for help & she also happens to be his new stepsister. Can he put his past feelings aside and help Kira? Will they figure out who is after her? These two are HOT together and I couldn’t put this down! A great fast read that gets your motor running. M. Never really knows how to write a book that sucks you in immediately. I also love the back and forth dialogue between Kira and Ky. Told in dual POV

I just know when I dive into an M. Never story it is going to be emotional, passionate, arousing, tantalising, and guaranteed to create insomnia. Not only could I not go to sleep until I read the entire story, I am still thinking about it. To the point I have tried to read several books, but just cannot get into them. I am still in Ky and Kira mode. I embraced everything about their story. I wanted to knock sense into them when I thought they needed iy, wanted them to hurry and get to the good bits. Just kidding, there were so many good bits I was beside myself with glee. I loved the characters and everything they stood for. Ky was ever frustrating, and I was besotted from page one. Kira was a dynamo that was always underestimated. She possessed an inner strength nobody gave her credit for. Well she certainly showed them all. The secondary characters were wildly entertaining and colourful. A stand up sensational story that I finished way too soon. 5 stars.

Hell NO! There is a reason why I stay away from biker-type reads because they are typically not safe. The blurb on this one caught my attention and after reading the prologue, I DNF'd on the first chapter because of this puke inducing scene:

So after this scene, am I suppose to route for the MCs HEA? Absolutely not! Scenes like that make this reader avoid them for eternity!

We first meet Ky and Kira in SNOWFALL, the prequel to SLASHES IN THE SNOW. In SNOWFALL Kira’s mom, Kristen and Ky’s dad, Gerard meet and fall in love, their love causes major changes in all of their lives, some good, some not so good. SLASHES IN THE SNOW picks up about three years later, Ky and Kira have never met due to Ky’s resentment and anger towards his dad ever since his dad fell in love with Kristen. Ky cut off all contact with Gerard in the meantime Kira has formed a father/daughter bond with Gerard. Kira is all alone because Gerard and Kristen are out of the country, she is scared because suspects someone is following her, the only person she can think of to go to for protection is Ky because Gerard has spoken so highly of him. When Kira approaches Ky she does not find the honorable, fun man Gerard speaks of, she finds a rude, angry, bitter man. Kira’s request for Ky’s help is met with scorn, Ky feels he shouldn’t help the person who has everything he misses, his father.

At first I didn’t care too much for Ky, he was a major jerk to Kira. As their story unfolds I found myself falling in love with him. Kira, is delicate and fragile but still strong and sassy. I love when she sasses and/or puts Ky in his place. SLASHES IN THE SNOW is a story filled with anger, passion, forgiveness, growth and suspense. The only thing I thought was overkill or unnecessary was the “worry” Ky and Kira internally had about being step-siblings, I mean come on, they never even met, it wasn’t like they grew up together from a very young age. Other than that SLASHES IN THE SNOW kept me on the edge of my seat and turning pages into the wee hours of the morning.

A mess. A big mess.

1. The heroine is my main problem. She is portrays as fierce, independent woman. But the author ends up portrays her as bitchy, ugly, angry, spoil and has no respect for anyone. She yelled and screamed when she is in bad mood. I want to slap her and push her into a cliff and left her die.

2. The hero. This guy is suppose to be alpha male. But he ends up as coward, insecure and brooding, insensitive and stupid. He stays with the heroine for 1 month and he suddenly marking her as his without any emotional connection. And due to his insensitive trait, he does not know how to grovel.

3. The story is lack of climax. The plot of stalker is so lame. The action scene about car chasing is so dumb and stupid. Lack of layers and suspense.

4. The wording is over the top dramatic. Unnecessary over the top dramatic.

I am so turned off listening to the audio book.

Ky might act like a hard-arse but the man is a softie where Kira is concerned, "Kira is hesitant to move, or speak, or even breathe apparently. My little outburst must have spooked her. “Don’t be scared. You came to me for help, so let’s see if I can help you.” Ky is not a fan of his woman wearing clothes, “that material is getting ripped the eff off your body as soon as I put this down.” The corners of his lips curl up sinisterly." I like d this book, I fell in love with Ky.

ARE YOU READY TO READY THE MOST EPIC LOVE STORY OF THE CENTURY?? 🙄☠️🤦🏼‍♀️

I hate this book, it was so so awful. I finally had to give it up and stop reading around 85%. Throughout the entire book there is not one redeeming quality in it.

KY
Our “hero” Ky is a worthless piece of shit. Let me just begin by saying that I enjoy reading a story with an “antihero” male protagonist. I like it when they start off as a bad guy. I even like reading really dark and twisted characters who end up finding love. Ky is none of these things, he is just a plain old mean asshole. He literally tells Kira to go kill herself (because he hates her so much) shortly before he asks her on their first date. A few days later they are proclaiming their undying devotion for each other when he learns that she has PTSD and becomes cruel and then leaves her again.....WTF. Then, not 24 hours later, he’s begging her to forgive him again.

KIRA
Kira pisses me off as well. She is so weak and pathetic. I cannot abide by sniveling cowards like her, who allow themselves to be trampled and abused by men. I’m not a feminazi, but damn girl, have some effing self respect.

Reading about the relationship between Kira and Ky is like taking a pencil and repeatedly shoving it into my eye...painful, miserable, and avoidable. Here is a rundown:

Kira: I need your help Ky, Im So scared. **god he’s hot**
Ky: Go away bitch I hate you **she so pure and perfect and hot, I need to fuck her**
Ky: ** my cock will never work for any other woman again because I saw my hot step sister who I hate**
Ky: fine I’ll help you, but I’ll be an asshole about it because I only wanna hate fuck you.
Kira: **he’s so mean to me, I’ll try to seduce him**
Ky: Go kill yourself you worthless bitch....okay, fine, don’t kill yourself....wanna go on a date?
Kira and Ky: I’m so in love
Ky: you have PTSD?!! OMG, I hate you, I can’t even look at your face. Have a nice life bitch.
Kira: **my life is over, I’m so heartbroken**
Ky: **im so drunk right now drowning in my own misery, I can’t even fuck this bartender**
Ky: I’m sorry okay?! What the fuck else do you want me to say?! I won’t hurt you again.
Kira: okay, I forgive you for repeatedly treating me like garbage.

That is literally their relationship in a nutshell.

**Nov 2021 Update**
This is still the worst book I’ve ever read! My immense hatred for this book leaves me remembering this garbage, in detail, years later. I wish I could scrub it from my mind. I’ve never read a book that so blatantly tries to make abuse look sexy. Ky needs to be put down and Kira needs inpatient treatment. No joke.

2 ⭐⭐ - Meh!
==========
I’ve only heard stories of the infamous Ky Parish. Tales of a man who was fearless, loyal, and a tad bit reckless. A man who survived the travesties of war as a Marine and emerged a hero.

“I don’t give a crap what you or your family needs.” His tone rumbles with animosity. “Now — Get. The. Fuck. Out.” He punches every word.

I push the redhead to her knees and lean against the door. This is what I need. My fucking mind blown.

The redhead gags as I hold her head in place and unleash like a broken...

I have fucked a dozen-and-a-half women with no strings attached, and Kira doesn’t have to be any different.

I’m going to fuck Kira straight out of my system and then move right along with my life.

I step toward Kira, towering ominously over her small frame. “You want to go swimming, Kira? Do us all a fucking favor and go drown yourself.” My words drip with disdain, and Kira’s eyes instantly well with tears.

“How is it you can be so nice one minute and such a dick the next?” “It’s a gift,” I laugh. “You should definitely return it.”

The busty brunette is hard to pass up, she’s a vixen blessed with wicked ways. I know because her lips have been wrapped around my cock more times than I can recall, and if I was another man from another time, I would take her up on her offer, lickity split.

After reading and loving Ghostface Killer I knew I had to read more books by M. Never. This is an enemies-to-lovers MC romance, though the “enemies” element is a little light. It’s more of a “resentful stepsibling” romance. That said, Kira and Ky have great chemistry. Kira goes to Ky for help when she believes she’s being stalked, because her stepfather has done nothing but sing praises about his estranged son. She has no idea that Ky resents her and her mother for taking his father from him. When his father fell in love with Kira’s mom, he left the motorcycle club, which Ky perceived as him “abandoning” him. In any other situation, that would be perceived as an overreaction, but I’ve read enough MC romances to know that they’re very ride or die. (Oh my God I’m just now wondering if that’s where that expression came from? Will Google later.)
I loved following their turbulent relationship through its highs and lows. I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see much of secondary characters, though we got a taste of Hawk and Breaker, and I’m glad to see that Breaker is featured in the next book in this series. I really hope Hawk gets a book! I’m also curious to know if there would be a prequel for Ky’s father and Kira’s mother. Those two are cute together!
All in all, this is a compulsively readable romance, though I wouldn’t quite call it a dark romance or a suspense--but I did shelve it as such.

This is a reread via the audiobook. (I have a TBR on audible too 😖) The narrators do a good job, but even Ryan West couldn’t make this less corny. The overdramatic, OTT purple prose is in full force and neutralized all my dark/alpha/MC prez vibes. I want him kickass and unstoppable not falling apart and shriveling inside like a piece of rotten fruit when the shit hits the fan.

Not to mention it was distracting and didn’t always make sense. My heart is hammering so hard I could be an abandoned pet on death row.

IMHO, it was overkill. She even went all Lady Gaga with, “I know there are a million reasons for you to go, but all you need is one to stay.” 😆

In my defense, I didn’t reread my review before starting and forgot this is the book with the stabbing meaty knife cock.

2.5-3ish Step-brother Lover Stars
I read this years ago when I was going through a step-brother phase and am writing this from the notes of my old account. (not a fresh read) I enjoyed it, but not in the way I think I was supposed to. I actually thought it read like an edgy soapy-smut…and I do love a hotmess trainwreck. I found their actions/reactions OTT borderline silly, and didn’t take any of it seriously.

Things start off rough for these two. As, Ky HATES Kira because he thinks his dad abandoned him/the club for her and her mom. (yes he's an adult) He’s a straight up prick, but only because he loves her so hard. He’s supposed to be an ex-military badass, but underneath all the mean I was picking up on insecure not possessive….and bitchy instead of broody. Kira is supposed to be all independent and tough, but she comes off bitchy, whiny and spoiled. I’m not gonna lie, neither of them are great.

The writing isn’t bad per se, but some of the descriptions were a little WTF…like he’s pumping with bloodthirsty anticipation OR his cock sharpening and stabbing into her like a meaty knife…LMAO…see what I mean about being silly?? It also felt like she was channeling Suzanne Wright with her 3-word descriptions (SW always does 3 smells)… he’s possessive, dominant, demanding AND she’s weak, feeble and tamed.

Bottom Line- insta-lust to insta-love in this step-bro, enemies-lovers, bully, mc, stalker romance. It’s not long, free on KU. I swallowed it down, but I can also have a weird since of humor…and quite possibly had been drinking. 😊 **safety- BJ after meeting h, like literally just met and he needs to flush his lust.

..interesting.

Slashes in the Snow was a book that I dove into for a challenge. In the end, it was actually interesting and the characters were something to root for. It definitely had some weird ass crazy moments though.

In it, you will meet Ky and Kira. They just happened to be step-siblings.. but there was always something there. A secret spark that ended up igniting and I enjoyed the crap out of it. Still weird but in all honesty.. it didn't even seem like they were a family (like their parents were together but that was pretty much it).

Besides them, there was always a hint of mystery revolving around Kira. She constantly feels like she is being watched and doesn't feel safe in her own house. So she goes to Ky for some help and he's all for it. It doesn't hurt that things get heated up between them either.

Then secrets come out and words are spoken that no one can take back. Again, I ate it all up and wanted more. YET, that is when things got super weird and her life gets threatened. In the end, things work out between them and it made me happy. Might even dive into the next book.

This was really good

It's full of steam and had a little twist. This was a perfect Sunday read.

Kira had no choice but to seek out her step brother who she never met before. She has suspensions that someone is stalking her. Ky thinks she is captivating, gorgeous, and innocent, but that isn't enough. He despise his father for up and leaving him behind so he could marry the love of his life. Ky can't hold back the pull he has over Snow so he does take it upon himself to help her.

3.5 MC Stars!!

I found this to be a enjoyable book, a few inconsistencies but nothing major....I think it was more me that found certain things off. That said; I liked the H&h, secondary characters and the storyline. I’m thrilled that I found a MC series that isn’t a dark read. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more of the series.

Snowfall & Slases in the Snow by M. Never is the first book in A Baum Squad Series. This is the story of Ky 'Slash' and Kira. Please note that there was a Prequel called Snowfall that introduced us to the parents (the step-parents story), set the tone of Ky being upset about his father's new life. But with that said this book can be a standalone book.
Ky holds a grudge against his father and his father's new family so he hasn't seen nor spoke to him nor them. But Ky took over being the President of the Baum Squad after his father left it and as a ex-military, Ky is man who doesn't let things go easily. When Kira comes into his life he is attracted to her instantly but thinks to get what he wants from her to too. Kira knows that someone is watching and doing things that she can't prove. So she feels the only safe place or person that might be able to help is her step-brother Ky. But his world is different from hers and he isn't giving up much.
Ky was somewhat hard to get into after his one encounter with someone else after meeting Kira but I slowly came around to them both.

"Slashes in the Snow (Baum Squad MC #1)" started with the heroine, Kira being stalked and needing someone to protect her. Since her parents were away in Paris on business, Kira aka Snow seeks out her stepbrother, Ky aka Slash to protect her until she can finish her finals, then leave for Paris in a month's time. Sadly, Kira had no idea that her stepbrother hated her, her mother, Kristen and was no longer on speaking terms with his father, Gerard Parrish. Luckily for Kira's "hot body" as the hero often mentioned and his heavy conscious, Ky decided to protect his stepsister which included driving her places on his bike and asking his MC brother, Hawk to investigate/research her crazy and abusive father, Dex. Within that month, the two had many disagreements and scary stalker moments but they made compromises and in time they fell hard for each other. Moreover, Ky begins to understand why his father left the MC and it had nothing to do with him. Gerard aka Gambit wanted to let go of the MC because he no longer needed that lifestyle with Kristen in his life but it was Ky who turned his back on his father.

Then the story gets dark, really dark because someone from a character's past is out for revenge and the things he does are all trigger worthy.

Love this author and the way she weaved this memorable story. Give it a try but start with the prequel-- Gerard and Kristen's story !

I'm really look forward to reading Breaker's story next!

Slashes in the Snow ticks off every weakness I have in what I love in a book.

Hot stepbrother? ✔️

Biker hottie? ✔️

Love and hate romance? ✔️

Jerk-ish hero?✔️

A sequel to Snowfall: A Slashes in the Snow Prequel - but totally can be read as standalone, no confusion - the first scene captivated me. We all love that first meeting of main characters and M. Never gave us an intense and sizzling introduction.

Ky Parish, an MC President of the Baumer Mafia MC was harboring some deep hatred for his father, the former Prez of the club,

Kira Kendrick needed her stepbrother's help.

In she walks inside the "The Lion's Den", the club's owned bar looking for this stepbrother her stepfather was all praise about.

Everything took off after that and the chemistry between the two main characters is palpable as well as undeniable. The attraction between them is too much but there's also so much pain Ky has harbored.

Not totally "club centered" but the author did pull a total WTF twist in there that I didn't see coming. It was a great climactic drama you wouldn't expect hitting you in the face and I loved it!

You'll be drawn more as the plot thickens and things get *almost* beyond FUBAR.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat while waiting for more bomb-drops (figuratively speaking, sorry) this author seems to be fond of!

Great character growth, climactic events and twists and turns that will make your head spin, this book is one I do recommend!

M.Never has brought us a dark, gritty, suspenseful, fast-paced thrill fest of animalistic ( rawr ) protective vibes, with some primal lusting ( I mean P.R.I.M.A.L ) amongst the hate, and a one of a kind love weaving its way into dangerous territory romance! *Phew*
Once I started Ky and Kira's tale of stalkers, unforgiving pasts, their searing connection, and that witty banter -there was no stopping my completely immersed self from finishing this book in one sitting! I
Excellent characters and a magnificent, unique storyline.
So much more than I could have ever anticipated from reading the Prequal Snowfall- it's a Stepsibling, Mc, hotter than Hades, evil thrill ride and absolutely worth the read!
