I LOVED this series. I am a huge fan of this type of genre and this series did not disappoint! All three of the books in this series were amazing (from the characters to the plot to the world itself), but of course the first book was my favorite (those first few chapters...WOW). Although there were some tropes in this series that are common to this genre, overall there were many things in this story that were surprising and unexpected. For example, sometimes the plot or the decisions of the characters would take an unexpected turn, but that only made me love the series even more. Overall, this series was so much different than I expected, but in all the best ways possible. I also loved Theodosia as a person and as a character. Talk about female empowerment! This series was amazing from start to finish and I loved the way that this series ended. I can't wait to read more books by Laura Sebastian because she is an amazingly talented author and story-teller!

I absolutely loved this series. It is an incredibly well written and engrossing story. The first in the series, Ash Princess, is undoubtedly my favorite, although all the books are very strong.

I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy and will surely read more of Sebastian! From slave to queen we see a very believable fantasy novel. These are not the kind of books that have a straight plot ending in the happily-ever-after. There is a DEEP plot, which I love! Through it all, Thora/Theo struggles with what it means to be a queen because thousands depend on her to overthrow the country's conquerors and restore their homeland.

Que trilogia péssima.
Eu poderia me aprofundar em muitos dos inúmeros pontos negativos desses três livros, mas me sinto tão lotada de frustração e cansaço ao terminar de lê-los que não consigo erguer energia o suficiente para isso.
Não gastem seu tempo com A Princesa das Cinzas.

The story just kept getting better and better the more I read. A story that is unbelievably hard to put down. I read them a little too quickly, and am envious of those who can read it for the first time. The emotions, vulnerability, and character development put me on the edge of my seat. Whether I’m laughing or crying or yelling in anger, I wasn’t able to draw my eyes away from the pages. Favorite characters? Is it ridiculous to say I love them all? Even the ‘bad guys’ in the story are so well written.
