"Ezra wasn’t picture perfect, but he was perfect for me.” —Lilac
Lilac Baker wasn’t against finding love, but love never seemed to be close enough for her to grasp. With her big sister pregnant and living out her happy ending, Lilac has high hopes for her own fairytale beginning. Then, with the shutter of his Canon EOS, Ezra Fields walks into the picture, igniting a thrilling fire inside of her chest that can’t be put out. One encounter with the talented photographer sends her heart into overdrive, and their budding romance soon changes her life.
*Please note, this is book two of a five part interconnected series. Though each book is a standalone, some parts of the storyline are ongoing.
Lilac wasn’t necessarily against love or finding it, it just never seemed to be within arms reach. After big sis found her HEA in book 1 Lilac became hopeful that her time would come. Sometimes love comes when you least expect it and this was the case when she met Ezra!! He seemingly always had his sights set on her and when the time came to make his move, he “captured” it with zero hesitation.
Im telling y’all, it’s something about the name Ezra that just has BDE attached to it! I loved that Ezra and Lilac were mature lovers when it came to making it known what they wanted without the games. Ezra’s ex entered the picture and he had no issue with putting her in her place every 👏🏽 single 👏🏽 time 👏🏽!
The chemistry between these two oozed from the pages or in my case my AirPods since I listened to the audio. This was the perfect angst free story that will help you come down from one of those toxic reads!
“He asked “If i knew what it was like to be loved by a man who wants to love me?”” Baaabbbby! Ezra asking this damn near made me melt into a puddle. Second book and Asia got me smiling ear to ear. Her pen is magical. Loved the flow, the chemistry, and even getting more of the backstory about the girls parents. This is how you write and move a series along. I can’t wait to finish the audiobooks for this series.
Honey, when lilac reintroduced herself! Priceless. Now that’s how you clear h** and then his momma said something to ol girl had me laughing. The fact they Lilac and Ezra were once close makes my heart smile. These two were simply meant to be. Their careers and personalities just go together. Ain’t nothing wrong with not just giving into any ol woman or man. Actually waiting and knowing that God will send the perfect one for you is amazing. So adorable and spicy. All the ⭐️s.
Lilac: A Sound of Love by Asia Monique is about private chef/food blogger Lilac Baker and photographer Ezra Fields. From the moment they meet I could not stop cheesing! Their synergy is otherworldly. Their stalking antics are hilarious, I found it endearing! Lilac is that chick, she has it going on and she’s working through her hurt with grace. Lilac is sweet but she as edge, she’s a leader but she can follow as well. Ezra is that dude, despite his trauma he’s kind, gentle and a man of action. Like Lilac said he’s sweet but such a damn man. And his actions were speaking to Lilac as her love language is acts of service. His fineness could be felt through the pages along with their passion in/out of the bedroom. Their love story is beautiful, they were destined for each other. The Love Language series is a hit, Asia Monique is 2 for 2!
Love, love, love. I am always drawn in when both people are open and pursue each other. Ezra and Lilac had me locked in and I could feel the genuine connection and pull between them. Lilac was my fav, straight shooter especially with the ex girlfriend 😂. I loved the support Lilac and Ezra gave each other and the acts of service 😍
Whew the way that Ezra spoke to Lilac did it for me everytime. I enjoyed their story , facing the hurt their fathers left. It’s something about the Baker Sisters.
This was actually pretty perfect. Lilac & Ezra knocked me back with their love story. Acts of service get me every single time. I also love a hero with “Thuggish bae qualities.”
Lilac the Great! Loved her! She was so confident in who she was as a woman, and in her abilities as a chef. Ezra! Now he is bae, boo boo, love, man, husband everything! Thug on the outside, smart, sweet and loving inside. The way he protected Lilac was beautiful, even from his mother! These two were destined for love, well before they met as adults. Their easy going relationship quickly blossomed, as they both found just what they needed in the other. Loved the scene where Lilac bossed up on Jennica! It was so interesting finding out the back story of the ladies, and how they "really" came to live with Aunt Lori. But if anything the sisters are resiliant and will always be there for each other. This couple is true couple goals! Great job and look forward to Juniper's story.
I love sappy drama free love. This is what romance novels are about. The Flower sisters are so awesome! I’m so proud of them and their accomplishments. Lilac and Ezra are beautiful souls with an authentic connection. Updates on their friends is always a welcomed surprise. Very good easy read for those of us who enjoy falling in love.
I loveeee Lilac and Ezra! Ezra is rugged but soft and gentle with Lac. During this book, we learn more about the Flower sisters and their past. It’s amazing how so many things/people are tied to them.
Series: 4.5⭐️ Spice: 3-4🌶️ Format: Audio I enjoyed the series. I’ll always be here for Black women being loved on loudly. ✨Close Knit Family (5 Sisters) ✨Black Love ✨Low Drama ✨Guaranteed HEAs
Ezra is Mr. Stand on business and I loved that for Lilac! I listened to the audio and loved it even more because it has Winston narrating. This was cute, quick, fun read. Loving this series 💗
Lilacs story was nice. At first, I did not expect to like the flower sister's. I thought it was corny. Low and behold, if you look a little deeper, the ladies have so much personality and spunk. They've been through so much and still standing. The men chosen for each sisters are all in. You'll enjoy this one.
Emotionally thought-provoking... beautiful, sexy, and amazing chemistry... true reader-to-character connection. . . wonderfully written story... Black Love at its finest!💜💜💜💜
I loved this one way more than I expected to. Lilac and Ezra were fun to read about.
Lilac was sweet and fiesty and I liked that about her. She felt things so deeply and cared about others, especially her sisters, so lovingly. I was sad when she was sad, yet happy when she was too. I'm glad she worked out her feelings and misplaced anger toward her new found sister, Lily. I'm also glad that her aunt, Lori, was open with them about what actually transpired between her brother Gerald, the Flower Sisters dad, and her when he signed away his rights to his daughters. I loved that Ezra and Lilac had history and this insta chemistry vibe. They were so dope together with her being a chef and him being a photographer. Two dope creatives navigating Love.
Ezra had me from the time he approached Lilac, up until the very end. They fierce way he wanted to protect and care and love and heal Lilac, even with him only knowing her as an adult, in such a short time, was endearing to me. I'm glad his mom, Vivian, let it be known that she not only knew Lilacs mom, but dad and aunt too. Ezra was right in being shocked to find out he knew Lilac when he was younger; they had the same insta chemistry then as well, so it all came full circle. I love the bond he had with his mother. His sperm donor can kick rocks; enough said. I'm not sure why his ex, Jennica, continued to pursue him after he told her numerous times that them being together was a no go; guess Lilac had to let her know.
I love that all the Flower Sisters are finding love and light and this series is just getting better and better.
This was such a great read. On to book 3. Highly recommend
Lilac: A Sound Love by Asia Monique is a delightful contemporary romance novel that not only explores the world of culinary delights but also delves deep into the complexities of love and healing.
The story centers around Lilac, the second oldest of the Flower Sisters. Lilac herself is a gifted chef with a large social media following, thanks to her mouthwatering dishes and charming personality. However, when her assistant suggests hiring a photographer to revamp her website and food blog, Lilac meets Ezra, a sexy and confident photographer who has been harboring a secret admiration for her for the past six months.
What sets Lilac apart from other romance novels is the depth of character development that Asia Monique infuses into her protagonists. Both Lilac and Ezra carry emotional scars from their tumultuous relationships with their fathers. These traumas make them vulnerable and hesitant when it comes to love and trust, adding layers of complexity to their budding relationship.
Asia Monique's writing style is engaging and evocative, drawing readers into the world of gourmet cuisine and the art of photography. The descriptions of Lilac's culinary creations will leave your mouth watering, while the photography sessions with Ezra are vividly depicted.
Lilac didn't have time for love, but when she saw this photogragher, she wanted to know him. What she didn't expect was to get so much more. Ezra had wanted to get to know Lilac for a while and when he finally got his chance, he didn't back down. Lilac needed some work down for website and after meeting Ezra and seeing his work, she chose him. Ezra was everything Lilac was looking for even though she didn't know it. The more time they spent together, the more Lilac liked him. Ezra and Lilac was more alike than they knew it and was both battling the samething, father issues. When Ezra and Lilac found out the secret about them both, Ezra was not happy, but this made them both understand their connection with each other more. I loved everything about Ezra and Lilac. They loved hard and had each other back and created a love that everyone would want. I loved how the sisters were in this book as well and seeing their relationship and how they navigated through love and issues. I loved me some Ezra, but his mother was something beautiful to read about!! Looking forward to finishing this series!!
***Spoiler*** I listened to Flowers Sisters Book #2, "Lilac" by Asia Monique, Narrated by Mari and Winston James via Audiobook. I've previously read #1 Magnolia and I'm continuing the books in order.
I love the story of Lilac and Ezra. Besides Lilac thinking Ezra was cute when they first met, it is funny she was attracted to him based on how he interacted with his Dad.
I loved how Ezra treated her, randomly giving her gifts Lilac was not expecting. I loved how he told her everything, not because he felt guilty but because he wanted to. I love how Ezra stood up for Lilac, even to his Mother.
I love how Lilac, put Ezra ex in her place. It is such a full circle moment when Lilac and Ezra found out they knew each other as children. I'm glad Ezra's Mom shared information that was useful to Lilac and the Baker Sisters.
I love how these Flowers Sisters Books tie together and Lennox proposed to Magnolia. Can't wait to read Book #3.
I was feeling the vibe with Ezra and Lilac. They seem to compliment each other well.
Ezra momma had some wise words:
“Your father will always be the man you’ve known him to be, and none of that will change because he saw that you’re doing good in life. Let him be who he is, and you be who I raised you to be. You don’t need his validation for that.”
I don’t understand what the hell was up with Lori
I love Daisy. “Who do I have to hurt and why?”
The two things that I didn’t like about the story is Jennifer trying to get crazy with lilac and then backing down so quickly. And the fact Yahtzee’s Ezra Anne his mom knew the flower sisters way back when. I thought both were unnecessary for the story being told up until that point
Now that I got Lori version of the story I get it but she should’ve said something to the girls sooner.
Ezra and Lilac's love story was like the piece of art on your wall, they just coordinated well. The irony of their relationship as they meet as kids and did not even know it. Their mothers were also friends than no one knew not even the older sister Magnolia. Ezra's love for his photography and Lilac love to cook is just as if they both have the same career, they can feed off of each other.
Ezra's mother raised him right, he knew what he wanted in his wife. He was taught to be a provider and protector and that's exactly what Lilac needed. She needed a strong man in her life that would be an anchor and not weather at the first sight of a storm.
I enjoyed this book, and I am glad all the past issues about the ladies' father was finally cleared up with Aunt Lori. I am looking forward to the rest of the sisters' story I know they are going to be just as interesting.
I enjoyed this one! Ezra and Lilac had this instant like connection. Ezra had noticed Lilac well before their initial encounter and I thought that was a cute start to their love story because Ezra had already knew what his intentions were. Lilac was so independent and about her business, then came Ezra.. I thought this was a really good love story. Lilac’s love language was Acts of Service but she was kind of reluctant to allow Ezra to do anything for her in the beginning. When Lilac realized that Ezra was all about her, that guard went all the way down! Ezra brought out that spark and inner freak out of Lilac! I couldn’t get enough of these two. Good work!
I love romance. I’ve been reading it since i was a youngggggg teen. One thing I noticed is the need for a lot of extra drama and heart ache (especially in the ones with ladies that look like me.) Once I was into being a wife, mother, and employed adult, lol, I wanted my romance to be lighter. Low drama, love at first sight, the main male character being only about the main female character, no infidelity…etc. Well not to put too fine a point in it, Ms. Asia Monique is out here delivering that sweet string espresso love and I’m here for it. I love that Lilac and Ezra gave the live that the other needed to receive, not just the love they wanted to put out there. Oh and the other most important part…they had crazy chemistry. This book was HOT
I LOVED EZRA in this book!! His character had me at the fact he carry’s (legally) 😍😍😍 I listened to the audiobook and Winston James at Ezra was 👌🏾
But the audio is also one reason why I gave this a three. Mari’s voice sounds way too mature to read for these sisters who aren’t even 30. The first book (Magnolia) is read by Eboni Flowers and it’s a much better fit.
I’m also giving this a 3 Becuase Ezra and Lilacs romance is pretty one dimensional. The plot doesn’t really move. They’re in love from page one and it just goes that way which can be kinda dry. But the spicy 🌶️ whew! I just wish the spicy scenes were from Ezra’s POV instead of Lilac.
Lilac and Ezra were so loving and adorable. The bond they shared was built from their similar childhood experiences. I absolutely believe they were destined to be together.
Ezra was ambitious and full of integrity - his words and actions meant everything to him. He made sure he lived out his life on his terms. His care and love for Lilac ran deep.
Lilac was successful and confident when it came to handling her business, but she lacked the confidence to be in a sustainable relationship.
It was beautiful how Ezra loved Lilac unselfishly with his actions to the point she realized what she lacked, he more than adequately provided for.
I like the fact that Ezra saw Lilac and was captivated by her to the point that he even told his mother Vivian about her. I like how well they vibed together not knowing how far back they were connected. Ezra clicked in well with the crew and got to experience them in their New York element. I'm glad that Lilac is working on her misplaced feelings towards Lily and their father as well as Ezra confronting his father Ezekiel. I can't wait to read Juniper && Brandon and Semaj && Zena's stories coming up next.
Lots of unexpected reveals & plot twists in this one but most of all the relationship between Ezra & Lilac was so special & real. They had so much in common. I enjoy a good cat & mouse romance BUT I absolutely love love stories where the couple just KNOWS & they aren’t afraid to express themselves. I’m enjoying the diversity of the characters and the sisters as well as their men’s stories. This author is very creative and in-love with love which makes me a HUGE fan!
Lilac and Ezra fell for each other at a work engagement they both were attending. They had common issues regarding their fathers' absence in their lives; they bonded over those issues as well as their desire for one another. As I plan to read the series in it's entirety and in order as it's written, it was good to learn some more of the flower sisters family history in this book. I thought the cover was fitting to that work engagement where Ezra was hired to photograph the event.
