Celina Myers is a Canadian Paranormal Home Reader and the host of "The Haunted Estate Podcast". After years of living in the shadows of the paranormal industry she has collected some of her most gripping stories to share with those who love the supernatural as much as she.
One thing that didn't work in their favour was the supernatural. The circumstances before my birth and the reoccurrence of the bizarre and sometimes unexplainable things over the course of my life have lead me to believe in the existence of something more. -The Beginning
I soon realized this was not a sleeping child. His lips were shades of blue, the colour gone from his tiny face. His eyes open ever so slightly. I was afraid to turn. Afraid to look at the crib. - The Huntsville Estate.
I couldn't breathe. I ran, I ran as fast as I could but only reaching the side of my house when I collapsed and started to vomit in the bush. The rest was a blur, but I spent countless hours of the next few weeks at the police department going over and over everything I knew about him - Dreams

I absolutely LOVE Celine she is so awesome, Funny, Caring, Strong and an awesome author. I found her funny Tik Toks first then found her books. I don't regret it at all. I really enjoyed this book. I love that it was based on her true stories. I love all the details it really makes you feel like your living the story with her. Has much as I love her sleepwalking and carwash videos it was nice to see another side of her. I finished this book in a couple of hours. I just kept reading I need to find out what was going to happen next and the stories were so creepy and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I can't wait to read the other books she has.
I started this as a fan of both Celina and the paranormal and I wasn't disappointed. This was a quick read and I listened to the audiobook versions I found it went by even quicker. The narration by the author is a highlight! I would definitely pick up another one of her books!
Really like this book all the stories are thrilling and intriguing and I adore Celina Myers! The main reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is there are quite a few grammatical errors that pulled me out of the stories.
Some truly hair raising stories and just right for spooky season, when you want that thrill of the supernatural from a safe distance! I'm interested in listening to Celina's podcast, The Haunted Estate. On the one hand I'm fascinated but on the other frightened and admire Celina for using her abilities to help people in terrifying circumstances!
I absolutely love Celina and all the work she does, I know no ones perfect but she deserves the utmost respect...my life is literally before and after discovering Celina, Kris, Sam and Colby.
"The Home Reader" was a very interesting read about some of Canada's, specifically Ontario's, strangest paranormal activiy. The book is written by Celina Myers and this story accounts some of the paranormal cases she has investigated. Celina is a Canadian paranormal Home Reader; meaning she assists homeowners in determining what is causing the paranormal activity in their homes. In addition to being a Home Reader, Celina also hosts "The Haunted Estate" podcast.
Celina achieves this through reading past memories trapped within the home. The cases Celina discusses are disturbing and frightening. They include ghosts and demons just to name a couple. Celina also makes reference to Lorraine and Ed Warren, whom most readers would be familiar with as they inspired the movies for The Conjuring Series. I make note of this because the book reminded me of the movies. The stories contained in this book are perfect if you are looking for a scare, and are a fan of the movie. "The Home Reader" is a fun, spooky, quick read at only 93 pages.
When I noticed this book at my public library, the cover is what originally caught my attention as it looked creepy. The cover features a pair of hands with black hair strewn throughout the fingers. It definitely lets readers know that they are in for a scary read and "The Home Reader"did not disappoint.
Some of the stories featured in this book include "The Huntsville Estate, a story about a haunted Bed and Breakfast, "The Darkness", a story about two sisters that inherent their grandmother's home, "The Dreams", a story about Celina's own dream experiences, and "The Summoning", a story about a satanic ritual. In addition Celina makes reference to some prevalent Canadian true crime cases that I will not mention as I do not want to give away too much about the book.
I definitely recommend this book to readers who want insight into some of Canada's haunted houses.
Read it really quickly as it's short but also so interesting that I wanted to carry on. Quite creepy stories, I definitely thought about them when I woke up at night! Quite a few grammatical errors and spelling mistakes but can overlook those. Very interesting to have an insight into Celina's life. I originally knew her from Tik Tok for her funny sleepwalking videos and didn't realise she had these sorts of paranormal experiences until reading this book.
This was such a hauntingly great book!! I wish you would write another with more experiences that you have had!! I ain’t going to lie that last chapter.... My name is Cassie and the people close to me, know I seek out books with my name in it! I flipped that page, seen my name, gasped and slammed the book shut. I had no clue! Lol after chilling out for a minute or 2 hours later I finished it! Beautifully written in respect for the families and the those who have passed.
I love this author's writing style. The way she describes things even as simple as everyday feelings give you a fresh and alternative perspective. I read her book The Clandestine House so I was eager to dive into this one and I'm very glad I did. My only qualm is that the book was organized in a way that didn't make a lot of sense. It jumped around time periods and stories. That organization style made it harder to follow but it was still a great book from Myers. ("Read" this book on Audible)
This is an amazing look into the author's own experiences with the paranormal. A very short biography chapter followed by a handful of gripping experiences in 'home reading'. This is phenomenally well written, and shows both the passion for this type of paranormal work, as well as a healthy sense of humor in the author. I look forward to reading more of her work.
I loved everything about this book! Celina went through such a hard life with having this *gift*. And she is still working through things. But it doesnt stop her from helping others. I loved each story she wrote. And cant imagine the experience she has been through. This girl is such a beautiful soul inside and out!
I actually follow Celina on Tiktok and did not realise this was written by her until now! I may have to read it again now so I can relate it to her and will definitely look out for her other 2 books. Written with great compassion for the subjects of her stories and a fantastic insight into her abilities.
Gripping and intense. Read it in one sitting. REALLY needs to be republished to fix all the grammar and spelling errors. Never have I ever seen so many in one book. But the book itself is fabulous!!
I loved it, I liked that the stories were fairly short and all super interesting and I never knew what was going to happen. I didn’t find quite a few spelling mistakes but it didn’t bother me. Highly recommend this book!
Very engaging read by the author...never really into this kind of subject but just love the author so had to read. I’m impressed how engaging her written word is and literally read it in a couple of hours. Thank you
As a fan of Celina I enjoyed reading this! The only downside I would say is the fact that it was not proofread before being published. There are some typos. All in all I enjoyed the book, it's nice to get a deeper look into her world.
I love that this was narrated by Celina herself because it brought to life all the Sam, Colby, Celina and Kris ghost hunts on YouTube I currently can’t get enough of- to life. I’m so ready for more of her reads for sure. I felt like I was there right next to her through all of the cases she took us on with her. I’ve only had a few authors be able to do that. Her voice just carries in the best way. Truly amazing. Makes me wish I would have written about some of my personal experiences with the paranormal. She has a gift, reminds me of Lorraine Warren and honestly.. part of me is glad I don’t have that gift… Celina is truly remarkable. I’m used to Celina’s funny and perky side. If you’re looking for that in this book, you won’t find it. And I LOVE that this book was so serious. It shows she means business and she has a real passion for her gifts. I can’t wait to experience more from Celina.
I’ve been a big fan of Celina Myers for a while, and I’ve been wanting to read this for almost as long.
While it’s clear this is the first book she wrote, that doesn’t stop it from being filled with a genuine passion for the paranormal and a dedication to helping people.
These stories are all varying degrees of saddening, heavy and almost unbelievable. But I’ve had my own share of experiences that I can’t quite explain, and the clarity and honesty that seeps through the book (and even in her videos to this day) never makes me doubt what she’s saying.
I would love an updated version, or sort of sequel, to this. Some stories that have happened between 2018 to now, and how her talents and abilities have, I’m sure, helped even more people.
It was so nice to spend. Dreary fall day reading Celina’s book. I like many found her on TikTok and was so excited to see more of the paranormal side of her life. This is a great introduction into that however I do wish some more editing had been done. There were quite a few areas where wording was changed but the older wording was not taken out leading to oddly formed sentences. Ultimately it’s not hard to see what she meant to write in these areas so its not like the book is unreadable. I look forward to reading more of her work, starting with Clandestine house which is waiting for me right now
This book was... Interesting. While not everyone believes in ghosts, spirits or the paranormal, you cannot deny that when reading these stories they are definitely questionable. Strange events, sad stories, some happy endings, some not so happy. Although it is short, less than 100 pages, this book was none-the-less a fascinating one to read. I finished the book feeling accomplished, and it left me feeling not at all how I imagined. If you are interested in the paranormal and the unknown, like myself, this one is definitely an interesting one to read
This book is great for being a what feels like amateur writing. The stories were chilling and the fact that they are first hand and true makes them that much better, that said I wish she had told a few more stories and had given a little more context to some of them. The story of her discovered gift also felt like she left out some great stories of her discovery of the gift and things that led to her starting home reading. I love Celina and I will always support her writing! The book was good for a quick read. And if you like spooky stuff.
As a big fan of Celina’s, I wanted to read through this book to learn more about her life. I have heard most of these experiences through her YouTube channel, but there were a few in there that I don’t think I’d heard yet. I don’t know many people who are like Celina or share similar experiences as her, so I am glad that she is sharing her experiences in the way that she is. I love watching her TikTok’s and YouTube videos and then definitely planning to read the rest of her books. Thank you, Celina, for sharing your life with us. ❤️❤️
Celina has lived a truly incredible life. Her natural abilities that allow her to see through the veil of our reality are phenomenal. I loved learning more about her story and background, and how she has helped many through the course of her life.
I also enjoy The Haunted Estate podcast run by Celina and her brother Joel, and highly recommend this book and that podcast if you enjoy dark/paranormal content!
What can I say? Celina needs an editor. Though the typos and other stuff aren't all as annoying as some other reviewers claim. You just read over them and get on with the story. I don't think Celina's the greatest writer ever, but I just love her, I love reading her work and I'm glad she writes at all, because I love her mind. This was another highly enjoyable read, and I hope to read more of her work in the future. Particularly looking forward to the follow up to Hollow.
I’ve always been fascinated by all things paranormal. The past few years I’ve loved watching Celina’s youtube videos, when I learned that she had written a book filled with her stories, I knew I had to read it.
Also this was a book filled with short stories (something that I don’t usually look for in a book) I really enjoyed it!
If you’re looking for something paranormal, this is the book for you!
This was not captivating. I really enjoyed a couple of the stories that felt more personal to her, but I did find my mind wondering off a bit. It was cute, and I really love and support Celina. I’m proud that she decided to do this and I’m so thankful I was able to learn about her in this way. But, I wish it had felt more like a conversation with her and that could have kept me a little more involved. Otherwise, great. I think that’s my personal preference and not anything about the content.
I loved the authenticity you could feel from the author’s writing. These series of short stories range from heartfelt, to heart breaking. Celina has a fantastic way of captivating her reader in the horrors she has experienced in the paranormal field. I would give 5 stars, however I did see a few spelling mistakes within the book, which took away from the experience slightly.
