Heather's life is not entirely normal. She dresses as a holiday elf for one job and a medieval peasant for the other. She has an Italian Greyhound that fits in her purse. But now there's a beautiful, buck-naked man standing in her apartment explaining that he's a unicorn who was trapped in a glass Christmas ornament. And things are just about to get a whole lot weirder.
Rez, fae unicorn knight and defender of the broken crown, isn’t sure how he got to this magic-starved world or why the beauty who freed him from his glass prison has cast an enchantment on him. He only knows he has to find his shieldmates and return to his fight with the darkness before he loses himself to her charms (and those of her tiny hound) forever.
Dark forces from his fallen world are tracking them down. But Rez has much harder tasks at hand: battling a rogue vacuum cleaner, braving buses and BigMart, defending a hound’s honor at a Ren Faire...and facing dinner with Heather's mother.
Heather and Rez will have to work together with old allies and new to find answers, discover the key to his magic, and unlock the power of his unicorn heart...before his enemies find a way to stop them forever.
UNICORN OF GLASS is a hot and hilarious standalone fae unicorn shifter adventure. For a side-splitting short paranormal romp, pick up a copy today!
Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!
While series should ideally be read in order, all of Zoe’s books are standalones and can be read in any order. This includes books within series.
This was a really cute short read. The plot was certainly unique and I loved the fact that there’s all these magical beings scattered around locked in ornaments waiting to be released by a kiss. The romance was really sweet and I enjoyed the heroine having to assimilate the hero to this new world. As the title states the hero here is a unicorn shifter. However I had to laugh the first time he shifted at the Renaissance Faire no less I picked this up on a whim for a challenge but it’s certainly a series I wouldn’t mind coming back to as new ones release. I’m curious to see what other types of beings are trapped and how they’ll be saved.
Another solid, light-hearted-but-not-just-fluffy instalment in the Fae Shifter Knights series.
As always, I love the diversity rep in this particular Zoe Chant's writing, and if I have one issue with this series, it's that Robin - the agender Fable with they/them pronouns - doesn't get their own book. There's a brief moment in this instalment where the characters discuss whether or not Robin might have a key themself, but they quickly discard the idea. That makes me a little sad, but I'm hoping we'll get to discover more about them as the series develops.
I enjoyed Heather as a character every bit as much as I enjoyed Dani in Book 1, and I liked her even more when she, Dani and Gwen finally meet up. If there's one thing this Zoe writes well (and OK, there are many, but the one I generally appreciate most) is strong female friendships. I love how the female protagonists of each book end up bonding together, and their interactions are always a highlight of the books for me. Oh, plus I loved that .
Rez was... fun, and an appropriately protective golden retriever, but there was nothing that really stood out about him. Some of the humour associated with him being a man out of place in our world felt a bit forced to me, but there was nothing truly cringey, and it didn't ruin the story for me - even if it did make me want to read through those bits a little faster than the rest of the story.
I was privileged enough to receive an advanced reader copy of this book from the author for a voluntary and honest review. I loved book one but I think book two is even better. The story is well written and sweet with just the right amount of passion and action.
Ok other than some annoying inconsistencies this is a great series. It’s what I expect from the many Zoe’s. However I think 2 Zoe’s may have worked on this series together because they could not agree upon the female characters and on of the male characters hair lengths lol a very silly thing to focus on I know but it was annoying when your visualizing the story in your head and in several of the books the females hair is constantly changing. Daniela in beginning of book hair goes from long curly hair cause the dragon. Was imagining her long hair fanned over her pillow under him, then later in book her hair is short cropped locks cause he ran his fingers through it. It throws you off. Cause your like wait? Wtf happened? 3 chapters ago she had long hair. And Gwen in book 3 went from long straight black hair when hienrick was washing it in the shower then several chapters later it was short and then long again. It was confusing my hair does grow that fast. Same book not throughout the series. Even one if the guys hair went from short blond to long blond then shoulder length brown. (In same book) Now you are warned you won’t get as distract as I did. Lol 😂 ignore their weird hair issues. And you got great stories here. Lol So basically a FAE REALM WORLD IS DESTROYED BY Cerad and his bleaks & dours. Shadow evil entities that take over people and make them “ridden”. Possessed and turns them aggressive violent and angry wanting to hurt and destroy. The 4 fae shifter knights, A DRAGON, UNICORN, GRIFFON {kitty bird} lol & PHOENIX (FIRE BIRD) {Why can’t she just call Tadra a Phoenix?} whatever. are caught in a mix of several spells cast during battle and they are trapped inside GLASS ORNAMENTS of their beast. And pulled into our world by ROBIN “a they” is an androgynous Fable made entirely of pure magic entity (NOT A FAIRY) LOL. CERAD wants to take over this new world and destroy it like he did the fae world. Robin “a they” must find the “keys” to free the knights from their glass ornaments by finding their fated mates who are a key (a key is a fated mated human) and they are the knights connection to our world and help them unlock the magic within each knight) in order to fight Cerad his bleaks & dours. Before our world is destroyed. Each key. Finds an ornament and releases the fae shifter knights within. Teach them to navigate this modern world and unlock the magic before it’s too late. These stories are unique and have a holiday theme because the veil between the realms thins from Halloween till the end of the year. So each of the 4 books in series. takes place between October November December January Over a period of 1 year and 3 months. These books are standalones but also cliff hangers so, read in order. HEA, No triggers, very little sexual heat, but some romantic intimate scenes. Not very graphic.
This is an OK Fae shifter romance, but I did have a few issues with it. It gets 3 stars from me.
The story was a bit too short to have enough character development. I would have liked more backstory on both Rez and Heather.
I thought the characters were interesting and creative, but thought that both Heather and Rez adapted to their situation a little too easily. Rez woke up in a completely different world, very different from his own, but adapted surprisingly well (and very quickly). Heather didn't really even freak out when a naked Rez just appeared in front of her, and she accepted that he was a shifter from another world almost immediately. I just didn't think their reactions to what had happened to them were believable at all.
I did like that Rez immediately realized he had to help the people of Earth, and tried to protect them from the evil beings from his world. I also liked that Heather agreed to help him, and that they discovered she could enhance his magical abilities -- because she was his "key" to Earth's magic. It made sense that they would fall in love, since they were so good together. I also liked that Heather was willing to completely change her life to help Rez.
One problem I have with all of this author's series is that there is so long between books. Lots of times I have to go back and reread some of the earlier books in a series, simply because it has been so long that I don't remember all the characters. That is frustrating. I know Zoe Chant is actually a group of authors, and that this series is actually written by Elva Birch -- but I wish the books in a series could be published closer together.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Hearther Rose Jamison was from Georgia. She worked two jobs, one at the Ornament Shoppe where she was a Christmas elf and the other one at Ren Faire where she was a period re-enactor. She had an Italian greyhound named, Vesta that fit in her purse. Then one day she found a glass ornament that a client wanted and realized she couldn't bring herself to sell it. It belonged to her.
When she got home, she id what she had to in order to break the spell. She was rewarded with a handsome, sexy and naked man standing in her living room. He told her about him being an Unicorn Knight who was trapped inside a Christmas ornament.
Rez, a Fae Unicorn Knight who found hismelf in a new world without many magic. He knew the beautiful and strong beauty named Heather freed him from his prison but he was glad she did. He needed to find the rest of his shieldmates (Trey, Henrik, Tadra) and their teacher, Robin, so they could take care of their enemy Cerad and his followers.
He was fascinated by her as she was about him and his story. Heather still couldn't believe she had such intriguing man in her life. When she took him to dinner with her at her mother's house, let's just say that things were really interesting. Her teenage sister, Charlotte had a lot to tease her about. She also shared some information with her regarding their mother that surprised her but she was happy for her mother.
Rez and Heather faced some dours at the faire, after their attacks, they put all their cards on the table. They started searching forhis shieldmates and came across an article about the glass ornaments. Theg called and left a message for Daniella to call them back.
And when she did, they received some wonderful, unexpected and eyes opening news. Heather was Rez's Key, she was the one that bounded him to the human world making him stronger. Rez was happy to see Trey (DRAGON OF GLASS) and Robin, and vice versa. Also they met new allies such as Daniella, Ansel and Gwen.
UNICORN OF GLASS is the second book in Zoe Chant's FAE SHIFTER KNIGHTS series. It was fun, heartwarming and riveting. Incredible job by Zoe Chant! 5++++
****I received a free copy from the author, without any obligation to review.****
On the heels of previous much needed lighthearted reads, I found my way to a further heartwarming adventure with the Fae Shifter Knights. Happy sigh, and... yet more fun was had here. Whilst not as laugh out loud hilarious as the first one, it was just as enjoyable and what a lovely surprise to have it so early on and not have a full year to wait as I was expecting! Thank you Zoe Chant! I was a bit confused though as the end of book 1 tells us that Gwen's story was next...?
Whilst not actually time travel stories, in this series the MMCs do 'travel' from another dimension, which makes it feel very similar to a different time so that's why I count it as such. And this time, the added Ren Faire side plot (because of Heather's work) was such a bonus that added a modicum of authenticity (as much as can be had in a fantasy story!) to Rez, because it allowed him to show off his impressive weaponry skills!
This time the dog, Vesta, is a smaller variety (being a cat person, I had to google it as I'd never heard of an Italian Greyhound before) and just as much a part of the story as the large and long-haired Fabio was in book 1, and such a simple addition to a story always makes me smile. And just like Dragon Trey from book 1, Unicorn Rez sounds like a total hottie sweetheart, albeit an oftentimes very confused hottie - what with all the buses and phones, etc he has to come to terms with!
So, I'm really looking forward to Gwen's (and Henrick the Gryphon) story, and the fourth 'Knight' who is a female Pheonix and wondering if she will be paired with Ansell? I would hate for him to see the whole series through and end up on his lonesome given he is such a support to them all. And what about Robin? Do they get a partner... even if it's a platonic partner? All remains to be seen.
Lastly, whilst I'm not a fan of insta-love, even in most of the PNR I read, in these instances I really don't mind. There is something so... whimsical about the characters and the plots and whilst the sex happens fairly quickly, there is no squick or ick factor that I feel so often with some of these types of books.
We were asked to read all four books of the series and reviewed them together. Parts of this review are also available at the other Goodreads links in this series (Dragon of Glass, Gryphon of Glass, and Firebird of Glass, and our full review can be read at The Smut Report.
Heat Factor: There’s on-page sex, and it’s not lengthy or highly detailed
Character Chemistry: It’s the kind of fated mates where the horniness is the first clue
Plot: It’s the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)
Overall: Playful, low stress fantasy adventure
There are a lot of similarities between Dragon of Glass and Unicorn of Glass. Heather and Daniella both find their ornaments independently of any other influence and find themselves surprised into a world of magic. That said, Daniella has the help of the fable mentor of all the Knights, Robin, while Heather is all alone. And Heather has some additional external factors that influence her in interesting ways. This was a fun book, but I was glad that the next one shifted the relationship storyline.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. We disclose this in accordance with 16 CFR §255.
When you find an actual unicorn mate instead a figurative one
I loved Rez and Heather’s story - falling in love while preparing to save the world. This is the second book in this series. It is an exciting fast paced story full of love, danger, drama, silliness, and some mystery. Plus there is a hot protective magical unicorn. The heroine found a “unicorn” to love. Heather works at a Christmas shop and when a customer tries to buy a beautiful unicorn Christmas ornament made of glass she knows instinctively that she has to have it. It is hers. Rez is a magic fae unicorn warrior from a parallel dimension who is released from the ornament when Heather kisses it. Rez and Heather must bond with each other in order to help save this world. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, dangerous situations, end of the world scenarios, paranormal creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, plot twists, mystical coincidences, snark, and laughs. It also includes witty dialogue, characters with depth, and an engaging storyline. Now I am off to read the next book and read about the next shieldmate.
Borrowed From KINDLE UNLIMITED Title: Unicorn of Glass Series: Fae Shifter Knights #2 Release Date: #AlreadyReleased Author: Zoe Chant Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Serial: Standalone, No Cliffhanger Genre:#PRN #UnicornShifter 5Stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ •••••••••••••• 💢 I couldn’t wait for Book #2-now that it’s out, I am not disappointed it is absolutely phenomenal. 🔹️Heather loves playing elf in the Christmas store BUT in Georgia in July the heat and humidity is just atrocious. When a customer want to pay for a Unicorn Ornament Heather couldn’t sell it, she had to have it. Taking it home she was so happy she kissed it, low and behold a huge naked stud chest was there instead of the Ornament. 🔹️Rez, Fae Unicorn Knight and Defender of the Broken Crown fighting the Ridden, the Dours On his realm but now they are on earth and he need a key. Who is his key? ☄️ This review is my own opinion, this author is one that I love to read her books. Again when she describes what touching the glass ornament the experience is so real. You just have to read it and see for yourself.
I posted a note that had me laughing... I was a little bit scared in the end when Heather was trapped down in the laundry room. I almost thought she wouldn't and make it. This series is so good and I love the extra bonuses on Zoe Chant's website: https://www.zoechant.com/unicorn-of-g...
"It snowed!” Heather exclaimed, recognizing the dark splotches on the tent and the sag to the cloth before Rez did. Then she was wriggling out of the sleeping bag they were sharing, waking Vesta in her enthusiasm.
It had not only snowed overnight, but the sky had also cleared, and the world was a glittering, bright wonderland through the triangle of the tent door. A few inches of pure white snow covered everything.
“Ah, my eyes!” Heather said cheerfully, squinting into the glare as she fumbled with the laces of her shoes.
Vesta, after shaking herself vigorously and managing to somehow pin Rez in the baffling sleeping bag, pranced out into the snow just outside of the tiny tent vestibule…and turned directly around to crawl back onto the knight’s lap." 🤣😁🤣

Another mazing story about a magical unicorn and his mate
Rez is a magical unicorn who wastt transported to our realm from his in a glass Christmas ornament. Heather freed Rez from the ornament with a kiss. She is his key to accessing his magic in this realm because his magic is diminished. Can they defeat the bleak and their minions, the dours?
The characters are enchanting, emotional, magical, and surreal. The fast paced plot is dramatic fantasy that leads the reader into a world of magical possibility. I like this book because it blends magics with real life to create this fantasy that is truly engaging as well as entertaining. It's certainly fires up my imagination. I am so looking forward to the next two or three books of the series.
Our world is threatened by dangers from a parallel universe. To combat this threat, surviving heroes from that world need to find a partner in this world or their access to magic diminishes to a dangerous degree. One hero has found his partner already. Will our next pairing be as happy as the first one?
A lovely romance with a spice of fantasy and ghoulish enemies to defend against! The story mostly focuses on the main characters and their growing feelings for each other, as well as the misunderstandings and culture shocks that come with getting transplanted into a new universe, which is a lot of fun. Having that more lighthearted part of the story contrasted against the threat of world ending destruction that needs to be combated just makes the cuter moments all that sweeter. Highly recommended reading for anyone who wants to have a good time!
Admittedly, I love fish out of water stories and this one was done well. There were some hilarious times as Rez, a mythical unicorn shifting warrior, tried to learn more about the world he now was a part of. Heather, the heroine, was patient and sweet and a perfect foil to Rez, as his entry into this world. I loved her dog Vesta- too cute and it seems like a theme in this series. (The prior book had an Afghan, Fabio). This book was short but had a great balance of romance and action. I love this world and look forward to learning more about how they will work together to defeat the Bleaks and Dours.
Knitting the family together What an exciting adventure. So many questions were answered, but even more were asked. Like where are the other ornaments, and are there really no beings of pure magic in our world? I love how the characters physically, and emotionally, grow as they become more entwined with each other. This book was action packed and kept me intrigued from the beginning. There was humor and danger and so much detail that I could feel the floor beneath my feet. I can’t wait to read the next book
Is magic real? Many say it isn't; but then they say they believe in faith, love, hope, and other things science can't explain. Perhaps magic is in the eye of the beholder. I love the way Ms. Chant explains magic in this book. Another couple finally let go of their fear to become one. Is it not magical how we humans have and continue to learn how to harness and use the things our earth provides for us. Maybe our imaginations are the power behind magic. Because without our imaginations, how would any of the things we have today even be here!
Book one was out last Christmas and I loved it. I knew I had to wait a year for the next one. But life happened and I forgot about it. That was, until I saw this one yesterday and I had to grab it and read it as soon as I could. Rez and Heather are great together. She seemed to take everything in stride. She even helped when she could. They have to work together to fight the evil and keep it from taking over the world. I love the aspect of the "knights" appearing out of the ornaments when the person meant for them finds it.
Entertaining story about mythical creatures who are half human, and half magic, in this case a unicorn. Fighting a losing battle in their world, the enemy casts a spell to make them fragile and their Fable (a completely magical being - think fairy) transports them to our earth. They arrive here as Christmas ornaments with their creatures captured inside. Once here they end up separated as people buy the ornaments. On earth they each have a key - a person who will be able to help them access their magic because naturally, our magic is different from theirs and they cannot access it..
Another great read from Zoe Chant, Unicorn of Glass begins with a slightly different take on shifters, (mythical ones at that) a blend of paranormal with strong fantasy elements. The characters of Heather and Rez are engaging and rather sweet, and the author does a great job with Heather trying to explain 21st century concepts to someone who is more used to something closer to medieval times. Thoroughly enjoyed this one and am really looking forward to the next in series. Enjoy!
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest It was a great book! Rez is a fae unicorn knight that was trapped in a christmas ornament. Now that is he free, he will have to learn his way in this new world. Heather freed Rez from the enchanment, but what to do with Rez ? The characters + storytelling were very captivating It has all the ingredients that you need for an awesome book! I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Another knight has been released from his glass ornament. A great addition to the series. And while there is no epic battle (like in Dragon of Glass), Rez and Heather must fight the evil that has come into her world. Watching Rez become acquainted with a new world and finding old friends, make for a great story. I particularly enjoyed the Ren Fair.
Grab this now but I do feel that you should read Dragon of Glass first.
Even though she had the strange urge 2 get the ornament and kiss it she was shocked on what she found but she was scared of feelings moving 2 fast and he was a special knight 2 her. Even though he was in a strange place he rolled with it as much as he could. But when darkness came there was no stopping him from doing what's right that he's did all his life and his key learned a few lessons and helped as much as she could 4 man kind that knows nothing.
*WARNING* intended for mature audiences I adore this series! A real shifter man caught in a glass ornament! It's very inventive. Each magical ornament has a human key. These woman that are keys are more than mates. Each key sees magic differently and the way they help their men fight is super original. It's A good story too. Darkness from another world is going to want to take over the Earth. Dours, Bleaks and who knows what else. I already have book 3 downloaded!
Heather had never felt obsessed about a Christmas ornament before. Fighting a customer over one?!?! But she couldn't help it!!! She didn't know what made her kiss the ornament, but she definitely couldn't have anticipated the results!! Rex didn't know how long he'd been help captive in the ornament. When he was released, the world as he knew it, was gone. How would he survive in this strange new world and where were his friends?!?!
This was an intriguing story, and I quickly became captivated with Rez and his growing magic and connection with his key, Heather! I am anxious to continue the journey to find the other knight. I loved leaving the magical connection between key and knight and all the possibilities. Wonderful world building and engaging characters I want more of, please.
Slightly better than the first. Still kinda meh and so damn average. I do wonder about the unprotected sex. In only one instalment I could have explained it away with taking the pill and not thinking about it, but in both books? There should be some mention of being grateful not having to use condoms or something. The advertisement of unsafe sex is not something I like to see.
I always love Zoe. Book was very cute. Teacup level of steam. She a great job researching the ren faire in GA since this takes place in its actual town. The timing is a little off in that it is usually help during a Spring not Summer. Savannah doesnt have a subway, buses yes but underground trains no. Characters were great as usual.
The second book in the series. I love that the woman in these stories still have their eye for magic because I would want to do the same in this kind of situation. It was a great story. I loved how the leading lady (yes let’s keep it like that) loves to knit. I’m a crafter myself and I love stories with other crafters in it. I can’t wait for the next book!
Wonderful funny and romantic. Cant wait for Henriks book. I loved Rez and heather. We have an Italian greyhound and vest as personality is just like our dog. It was nice to get to read about robin, gwen, angel, trey and daniella. I love unicorns so I loved this book
