Beautifully written and focused book about water witchery. I love the diversity in the rituals included, and how well-thought-out all of them are. Annwyn Avalon also includes a lot of informative knowledge regarding water magick in different cultures as well as throughout history. I appreciated her takes in here and she really made me think about my spiritual relationship to water, as well as motivated me to strengthen it. The only issue I had, which was very small, is that I saw a few glaring typos. Since everything was so nice in terms of wording, I just wish the editor did a more professional job!
“Water, cleanse, and ground me today; wash all this bane away.”

The Way of The Water Priestess, by Author, Water Priestess, and the Founder of Triskele Rose, an Avalonian Witchcraft Tradition, is an immersive reference guide to introductory Water Magic, and Avalon’s path to developing a sacred relationship with Water in all its forms.
I enjoyed Avalon’s writing style and appreciated her conversational tone. It was easy to envision Priestess Annwyn Avalon beside me, discussing water witchcraft over coffee ( or gem elixirs! ) 💎🍸
There’s a lot of great information that I waded my MER-ry way through, including the lore of water goddesses, historical rites and rituals of various cultures, how to set up a water shrine (what fun!) (Photo on blog)
I am a fiction writer and admittedly, I grabbed this book and a few others with similar subjects for my research. Avalon mentions that she hopes the reader is inspired by her words, and to quickly respond to that:
You have. Thank you. You’ve given me the gift of inspiration and exactly what I was looking for to finish up my book series. My protagonist needed a good mission and you’ve given me just that – so, many thank yous! I’d mention what that was but for obvious reasons, need to keep that secret hidden in dark, murky water for now!
All we need is love and intent.
Annwyn Avalon: The Way of The Water Priestess Overall, an inspiring and informative read for anyone interested in sacred water magic, told in a non-stuffy, conversational way that feels very one-on-one. There is a lot to love about this read, from the stunning cover (details below) the inspiring words within, (including metaphors with water), and also, the darling seashell illustrations beneath chapter headings!
I’m looking forward to reading further works by this author, and I already have another book lined up on my shelf!
Book Details Paperback: Published January 1, 2021, by Weiser Books, an imprint of Red Wheel/Weiser, LLC
Very basic witchy book. Great introduction for beginners on the path of witchery, paganism and spirituality and you may want to include the element water??? Repeats the same generic topics as other books on witchcraft and priestessing. Historial /Archeological information is basic, like she's researched from google and has no real academic backing. The activities are similar to other 'How to' occult books only she changes them slightly to include water-- For example 'Healing gem elixirs', 'clearing negative energies', 'Healing waters dream pillow', working with the moon phases, 'sacred bathing', 'how to make an altar'---it's all basic stuff I've read before in countless witchy/pagan books marketing themselves as something new and fresh The front cover is beautiful and I think that is what reeled me in and had some personality to it. If you want something deeper, meatier and includes genuine academic research with a mystical vibe read books by Sorita De'Este. If you're a beginner though this is a good source book.
This book has some interesting information in it and some of which I am going to go back, study, and use. I just wish it hadn’t been so repetitive and would have had a little more history details to it.
I am usually very critical of pagan books so a 3-star review for me is a pretty good rating.
What I liked - it's her take on Water Preiestesshood, she fills it with her spells, magick, cleansing, and workings. I love to be able to see how others practice and too often in these books, the author claims to be a devotee, but you have no clue about their connections or practices by the end of the book. I was glad to be able to learn about Ms. Avalon's personal connections to water priestess-ing and water magick.
What I didn't like - It felt like there good of been deeper information on some of the gods and goddesses she speaks about, and more information about water magic in general. She also seems to repeat some of the information.
I loved this book! The author has a very clear way of transmitting the information and has a good understanding of what the priestess path is about - as a path of service that requires dedication. She shares interesting insights about the difference between initiation and dedication and the different forms of initiation that we can go through. The book comes with good vibes and inspiring ideas. I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that this book would not be interesting for people who are not a 'beginner' anymore, and I have to say I disagree. I am definitely no beginner myself but I still really enjoyed the book and found it also inspired me to be more organized and clear on the way I shape the priestess path that I have already been walking for years. There are loads of exercises in the book and that is actually my only point of criticism: I would have preferred slightly more focus on information and insights, and less on exercises.
Just finished reading both of Annwyn Avalon's books and it was extremely informative. Definitely a better book for those interested in witchcraft priestessing over new age priestessing. Nothing bad about either, just definitely more inclined for a celtic reconstructionist. Great Book.
I am obsessed with this book. Tons of useful information and rituals! Definitely a book that can be came back to again and again as a useful reference.
I really enjoyed this book. Avalon takes you on a journey through the ancient practice of water magic, with practices and tips for how to connect with water in present day woven throughout. I found it really interesting, and will definitely read more of Avalon's books in the future.
DNF- Unfortunately, this book is incredibly boring and I really didn't vibe with the writing-style. I had hoped there would be more history, but I got bored before I even got there. A shame!
