“ The Martians opens a door into a possibility that most would reject as impossible. But Nick Redfern in this provocative and exciting book makes a startling case for there being life on Mars—and, in fact, for the whole history of Mars being very, very different from what we have supposed. A wonderful adventure and a very exciting story!”—Whitley Strieber, #1 New York Times bestselling author, Communion
The Martians is an in-depth study of the theory that Mars was once a world that teemed with life. Perhaps, even, life not too dissimilar to ours. Incredibly, the Martians may still be there. Alive.
The questions that this book asks and answers include the The Martians explores the CIA's top-secret search for the Martians, multiple photos of strange anomalies, and the latest revelations about the environment and water on Mars. And most tantalizing of Did an ailing Martian race come to Earth in past eons and were they confused with gods? The questions concerning life on Mars—then and now—are many. The answers are astounding.
Nick Redfern is a British best-selling author, Ufologist and Cryptozoologist who has been an active advocate of official disclosure, and has worked to uncover thousands of pages of previously-classified Royal Air Force, Air Ministry and Ministry of Defence files on UFOs dating from the Second World War from the Public Record Office.
He has has appeared on a variety of television programmes in the UK and works on the lecture circuit, both in the UK and overseas, and has appeared in internationally syndicated shows discussing the UFO phenomenon. He is also a regular on the History Channel programs Monster Quest and UFO Hunters as well as National Geographic Channels's Paranormal and the SyFY channel's Proof Positive.
Redfern now lives in Texas and is currently working as a full-time author and journalist specializing in a wide range of unsolved mysteries, including Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, UFO sightings, government conspiracies, alien abductions and paranormal phenomena, and also works as a feature writer and contributing editor for Phenomena magazine and writes regularly for other magazines and websites.
In 2007 Universal Studios bought the rights to Redfern's book: "Three Men Seeking Monsters: Six Weeks in Pursuit of Werewolves, Lake Monster, Giant Cats, Ghostly Devil Dogs and Ape-Men" in the hopes of making a movie from it.
The question of life on Mars is one that's fascinated people for centuries. Even as we learn about our galactic neighbor, the question still lingers. So it's perhaps unsurprising that Nick Redfern, that "Brit with a knack for fretting out all the dope on outrageous subjects," to quote the late Jim Marrs, would turn his attentions eventually toward the Red Planet. Indeed, it seems a match made in the proverbial paranormal heaven.
Except that isn't. Whereas Redfern ordinarily takes a level-headed approach to the extraordinary, The Martians feel like an episode of the History Channel's Ancient Aliens in book form. One full of off-topic tangents into the worlds of cryptozoology, psychics, UFOs, and an effort to turn the Martians into the Anunnaki of Zecharia Sitchin. The actual Mars based sections of the book are intriguing but almost entirely a regurgitation of four decades worth of speculation about photographic anomalies dating back to the Viking missions and the Face on Mars.
The result is an overlong, often off-topic, and deeply frustrating read.
I can always count on Nick Redfern for a well-researched, informative, and entertaining book. This one on Mars is exceptionally outstanding. Like most people, I have been curious about Mars. Especially, now with Elon Musk planning on sending people there. I cannot wrap my head around that. I would need to know a whole lot more information and that is where this book comes in.
Redfern lays out every bit of research he has uncovered from declassified documents and years of patient and relentless digging. How Martians lived, what their world was like and what happened to make their planet turn into the inhospitable place it is now. I was curious too to see what NASA was holding back and what the remote viewers discovered.
You can’t put this book down but yet you don’t want it to end. His best book to date.
When Redfern talks about “life on mars”, he doesn’t mean fossilized bacteria. The book is talking about an ancient, and maybe still existing, advanced civilization of giant aliens. The evidence is in four broad categories:
1: remote viewers looking at past and present mars 2: NASA images and study 3: ancient myths/ancient alien theory 4: esoteric legends
The credibility and entertainment value of the different evidence varied widely. Overall the first two only I enjoyed reading about. The ancient alien theory was so broad it seemed arbitrary to apply it to Martians. It seems obvious NASA has a narrative and they do their best to shove everything into it and try to play down anything that may disrupt it.
Lately with the probes landing on Mars and taking photographs on some really strange things and with Elon Musk talking about settling Mars with a colony of human by the year 2015 Mars has been a topic of interest. The big question is can life be sustained on Mars or has there been life on Mars in the past . Author Nick Redfern believes that life on Mars has been there in the past and that it was rather intelligent, probably more advance than we are today. He furthermore believes that some of these Martians left the planet Mars and settled down here on earth, which is why some of the human beings have an Rh negative blood.
There have been connections with Mars in the past some of the most notable connections are in the work of fiction. The author of Gulliver‘s travels wrote a book in which he documented two moons rotating around Mars. This was well before we even knew that Mars had two moons orbiting around it Also other authors have speculated that their pyramids on Mars and they’re oboist on Mars and it turned out they were correct some people believe that Martians in the past or in the present were sending us signals that could be radio signals given to someone like Nicola Tesla, who is a great inventor he believed he heard signals from Mars Other people have also heard communication for ours from their radio, or they have heard it through a psychic connection. Remote viewing has also been employed to explore the surface of Mars besides, the Rover and other pros are going around collecting information about Mars. One person is named Ingo Swann and he was one of the people who was given a assignment to remote viewing of Mars there were several others in this as well, and they would view the surface of Mars, both the past and the present, and they would also view our moon And the moons on Mars and what they found was rather interesting. They saw pyramids obelisk. They also saw a huge spider, light creature, a face, hugging, alien, tight creature and long tall Spinley people walking around Mars of course this was in the past there’s an area in Mars called Cydonia, which has pyramids very similar to what is an Egypt also a sphinx or a dog like creature very similar to Egypt they also found a structure very similar to Stonehenge on Mars. These are rather interesting fines, which is at a connection between Mars and earth in the past they’re various theories as to how and why the Martian civilization got wiped out One speculations at asteroids from the asteroid belt, came hurtling towards the planet and destroyed it. Another speculation at the Martians were a war like people who use nuclear weapons on each other and wiped out their planet yet a third speculation states that the asteroids destroyed their planet what was left of Martian civilization turned on each other with nuclear warheads. Some of the Martians that made their way to earth may have established colonies in our planet and they may have Wage War on each other. One of the most spectacular examples of this is in the Bible when they talk about Sodom and Gomorrah the way he describes could be nothing else, but nuclear warheads. There’s a final theory that states at the Martun came down to Earth along side. Some ultra terrestrial are an alternative human race that is living underground and they decided that they’re gonna live here and they take common cause against us because we’re such violent people so we could be sharing the planet with Martians and with people in an underground civilization or more advanced than we are but only by a little bit This book is juicy. It has lots of information. I really enjoy reading Nick Redfern‘s work. I certainly look forward to reading more of his books and find them more about life on Mars.
The usual ramblings of a mad man who wants attention. Nothing screams pathetic quite like someone without any significant degree or basic high school understanding of science throwing around quotes about how NASA is wrong because despite their lack of evidence they demand you listen to them instead.
The book is essentially filled with opinions and provocative claims about science while quoting others who share the same beliefs. The book has debunked pictures and wild claims while quoting science fiction books and the Bible.
I picked this book up because it was donated to my local library and yeah I am not surprised that people like this exist and publish this dreck.

The book is very readable, however it works perfectly as an introduction of the all around problems with the alternative version of the Mars exploration, the author more or less fit most of the subjects examined, however it did so in a very shallow manner, the reader needs to delve into every single subject if he or she wants to understand the real issue behind every theory put forward. It is fun to read even for the seasoned researcher, because he or she may be weak in some of the subjects that the book tackles.
This book had some information that corroborates some things I've seen before plus some very intriguing new information. Now, I have to follow up on some of Nick's information. Plus, Nick has an interesting list of books he has written that I didn't even know about. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the truth about our origins.
A paper thin rehash of several existing pseudo-scientific topics around the red planet which could have been done in less than half the length it took. Overall, a shallow and unsatisfying read.
