Earth Song #2

Earth Cry

Rate this book

The page-turning second book in the Earth Song series.

On board an X101 stealth aircraft, Lauren, Jack and Mike arrive at the secret location of Sky Dreamer Corp. – a place equipped with technology and resources far more advanced than anything they could have ever imagined. They must prepare for their next mission while questions whirl through Lauren’s mind:

Who was responsible for attacking the AI Lucy with a destructive worm virus?

What’s the truth behind the change in the Earth Song detected by Jodrell Bank?

Are the recent outbreaks of earthquakes linked to the next waking micro mind?

Pitched into a role she never asked for, Lauren soon faces decisions that will challenge the very core of her humanity. The secrets of an ancient civilisation are about to be unlocked, forcing them into a desperate race against the Overseers to discover them, while the fate of the world hangs in the balance. Can Lauren find the strength within to become the soldier that the world needs her to be?

Earth Cry is the sequel to Earth Song, and is part of the Multiverse Chronicles, an epic series of interlinked stories that includes the Fractured Light trilogy, which follows humanity’s struggle to survive across parallel universes.

“The Overseers had risked the future of our world for their own financial gain.”
A fantastic sequel, with amazing high tech involved. The mystery behind the enigmatic owner of Sky Dreamer Corp is revealed..and what a revelation! Mind blowing discoveries in fascinating archeological sites! The plot is totally immersive and riveting. The archeology parts were fascinating, and the story is edge-of-the-seat great. The premise of the story is intriguing and the execution is flawless and highly imaginative. I really enjoyed the colourful descriptions of the environment, the culture and people of the country where all the action packed adventure occurs. It’s fast paced, with no respite for the protagonists, nor for the reader! I already want to read Earth Shout #3 now! Highly recommended series!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and my review is entirely voluntary.

This was one of the best books I have read in a long time.
I rarely write any reviews, and am moved to tell Mr cook how much he has added to a old mans enjoyment. I too have a wonderful background of reading for many years since I was in my youth.
If he ever gets up to California I would enjoy seeing or meeting him.
I am 81 and still going strong., I started reading Sci FI in the 40's and am a avid Trekie ( ha )
Keep up the great stories, I have had many wonderful guests who have visited us from Great Brittan.
Live long and prosper.

Hold on to your seat

This book is a fast ride so dont plan on getting any sleep. Things move fast and your attention will be hooked like a worm on a hook. It appears that this series must be read in order as written so that you get the full advantage of understanding each sequence of events. At the low price of each book that should not be a problem. This book sure had me on edge all the way. I cant wait for the next book, even if I amount of breath after this one. Nick Cook sure can write good and knows how to keep us readers tied up. You must read on.

Action/Adventure

I've really enjoyed both books in the 'Earth' series, but like Indiana Jones meets Sci-fi but in a good way.
Yes it's amazingly implausible (But is it?😏) but there are enough actual links and theories to still maintain a "what if" feel, characters are good if a little unbelievable at times but it doesn't detract from what are stories of pure escapism, can't wait for the next instalment.

If you like action/adventure stories these will be right up your street!

Good Read

While I really enjoyed the previous book, in this series, I did find this one, "Earth Cry" okay. Only due to the annoying cliches of men and women attraction and the military brute, the ridiculous Mike character, fighting in battle without a proper weapon,,, silly. Nevertheless, I did enjoy this book. I’m hoping the next book will prove to be as good as book one and two!
Thank you!

Imaginative, action-packed story

There are many fascinating elements to this story, such as, higher-dimension reality, artificial intelligence, some amazing technology- some of it real, some extrapolated. However, at least one pivotal plot element does not stand up to a reality check. Pierced by a shard of glass from an automotive windshield? Not possible, tempered glass does not break that way. Other than that, a pretty good read.

My favorite series!

Wow! Talk about action and adventure! This book is full of it! It will pull you to the edge of your seat and keep you there! This group of three people are so real it feels like I know them and my nerves are tense during every encounter with the enemy. If you love science fiction mixed in with a little archeology, a little medical drama, and lots of action, this is the series for you. Absolutely one of my favorite series!

Really exciting and full of action. Really enjoying this series of books. Lauren, Jack and Mike are great characters and make a cracking team. I really struggled to put this book down as it was fast paced. I kept saying to myself " Just one more chapter" all the time.
Looking forward to the next book.

fun action read

Fun action read where the good guys constantly get shot at but never die. The author put in a lot of good homework for the science and tech related story parts. It keeps you going. Reasonably clean from sex scenes but lots of gun violence and self defense killing. Ok for older kids?

A great series rolls on!

I didn't write a review of Book 1, Earth Song, but I wish I had. This series started off with a bang, and has just gotten stronger in Book 2! I'm going right to Book 3!

young adult fantasy

What’s up with Amazon passing YA fiction as science fiction. First book was interesting enough that I got the second one. Gave up by the middle of it . This series audience is slightly nerdy 13 yo girls. Passing on the rest of the series

Creative

Using real locations with some mystery attached to them helps stretch the link between reality and sci-fi. It pays to read the prequel and 1st book to get the characters and plot lines in place.
Satisfying read, looking forward to the next installment.

Jeopardy in the jungle

A good addition to the series. There's considerable repetition in the action scenes. A few additional clues are revealed leading the reader to the next book.

Book 2 was every bit as good as book 1

The saga continues, as does the discoveries. There's no let up in the action here.

I'm ready to continue the adventure with book 3.

Keep them coming.

I’m not a big reader to be honest, maybe the occasional book on a holiday.
This collection of books, I have not stopped reading.

Started with “the signal”, and went from there.
Literally every time I have spare, I keep reading. I’m going to be at a loss when they end.

Easy reading, gripping and just great!!
