Aya was deserted right before her marriage and was left without a place to live. One day, she finds herself wandering back into the house she was supposed to own after her wedding. To her surprise, the cold-blooded boss she hates from work had moved in as the new owner! A dangerous love ignites under one roof between the girl who lost love and her sadistic boss, presented by Yumi Hisawa!!
I wouldn't have picked this one up without a recommendation. I actually had no idea that "smutty" manga existed in this format. BUT this manga is actually so much more. There is a focus on two characters that are both dealing with difficult past and I think that they find solace in each other, but there is a fear of getting hurt PLUS he's her boss. I think that I would have liked to see a little more dialogue in this one. I feel through it so quickly because the panels seem more heavily focused on the art. While I enjoy looking at the art, there were a few areas where I feel like the story could have benefited from some additional text. The steamy scenes were hot and I enjoyed the direction the story was headed in. I'm hoping that we get even more development in the next volume.
I will admit that, going by the cover and title alone, you would think this is an awful manga with no substance and only smut. HOWEVER — the story does seem to tackle some serious concerns like marriage, divorce, and what those things mean in (Japanese) society. Of course, there is a lot of smut, and there are consent lines that are a bit blurred — but it is a fun read nonetheless. My only gripe so far is the heroine’s clumsiness, a trait which is annoying and not charming and just really cliche. But otherwise I look forward to volume 2!
Weird, but kind of sexy. It's about two who have relationship problems finding each other at their lowest, but the boss and worker dynamic can feel a bit weird, but sexy at the same time. It's not great reading but it's fun with good art.
This was cute, sexy, fun, and I also loved seeing them figure things out because they are both not really ready for new relationships. At this point they are still both healing from past things. But I do hope that eventually it goes from lust to love. I loved that her boss allowed her to stay with him. I am curious about the next volume given how this one ended!
The boss is just rather pushy to the female lead. I totally understand that she is craving for love because she was stood up on her wedding day but she’s letting her boss take advantage of her and not considering what she truly needs out of the relationship...
I wasn’t expecting smut for some reason. But it’s another pet one and thus far I like how it’s done. She is into and MEOWED. Love that. Very light on story thus far but I’m okay with that
*sigh* The elements of the story that are intended to be cute come off as cringy instead. The protagonist's boss practically sexually assaulted her during the first night they were under the same roof, and she comes across as so fragile, helpless, and needy. I finished this installment but won't be reading the rest of the series.
I just wanted a quick comic to help round up the month and I spotted hoopla started carrying mangas in their catalog. This is a bit of a silly concept of a girlie who was left at the altar and can't afford her apartment who she planned to share with her groom. Turns out her hot boss bought the apartment after the landlord listed it without her knowledge. He ends up letting her stay with major sexual tension and they pretend nothing happens at work. I liked the artwork, even if the nudity was rather vague and the kitten concept was rather half-assed. I doubt I'll continue the series, but maybe if I need another manga to pair up. This was a silly, low-stakes manga and it scratched an itch. I happily volunteer to be a kitten if it means I can nap all day and get scratches from a hunky dude. I'm not wearing a tail!
youtuber shaegeeks out recently made a video where she lists some of her favorite worklplace josei mangas and I’m making my way through them. a lot of this manga is what you’d expect from the title, but I like the way the relationship develops into something more mature and mutually beneficial
First off, please don’t let this volume influence whether you’ll continue with this series. The whole “kitten” thing comes across as a kink in this book, but as the series progresses it becomes more of a sweet background analogy than anything. Volumes 4-7 are increasingly romantic and the ending is so sweet and complete. That being said, let’s talk about volume one.
It starts off normally enough. Aya, a 27-year-old office worker, has been left at the altar and is now trying to pick up the pieces of her life. Before the betrayal, she’d been set to move out of her apartment and into a new house with her would-be husband. Now that things have changed, she finds herself in a pickle - her apartment’s already been rented out so she only has a week left there, and her future house has already been sold to someone else. She makes one last visit there to wallow in thoughts of what could have been, and falls asleep in the tub she’d hoped to one day soak in. She’s awoken by someone entering what she’d thought was still an empty house and who does she find is the new owner? Her boss, Kamiya! She discovers he’s not as much of a hardass as she thought he was.
It’s an odd turn of events, sure, but not outside the realm of possibility. No, the truly odd thing comes a few pages later when Kamiya makes an offhand comment about Aya reminding him of a clumsy kitten, and musing that if she were one that he could keep her and take care of her. Aya’s response is to - brace yourself - meow at him. ☠️ 😂 I mean, it’s in the title, but the suddenness just caught me off guard.
Anyway, that whole interaction flips a switch in both of them and leads to a spontaneous kiss. Kamiya offers to let Aya stay at his house (in her own room) while she searches for a place so that she doesn’t have to rush. Naturally, they have to keep it a secret from their colleagues. So what does Kamiya do when asked why he seems so tired? He tells them he’s adopted a kitten...right in front of Aya!
Backing up a little, we learn early on that Kamiya is divorced and has been so for the past three years. At one point, he arrives home really later after an emergency at work and passes out on the couch. Aya unsuccessfully tries to wake him and instead gets pulled into his embrace, going with the flow until Kamiya mutters another woman’s name in his sleep, “Izumi”. Of course, it acts as the proverbial bucket of ice water and she pulls away.
The volume ends with her .
I liked it fine, but there wasn’t anything particularly special about it. The characters didn’t have much depth to them and the passage of time wasn’t especially clear. For example, it switches from her being left at the altar to her being back at work, but how much time took place in between those two scenes? For all we know, it may well be the very next day. It was an entertaining, quick read, but at this point I wasn’t too impressed with the series. I was interested enough to pick up the next volume, though.
Yet another mediocre josei manga about an office lady and her boss having some kind of relationship... this one starts off a bit different, with the MC getting left at the alter and without a place to live and being taken in by her boss as a “stray kitten,” and there’s some mild sexy times, but that’s about it...
The chapters are so short, the whole volume is only like 120 pages (minus the cover, TOC, and bonus chapter, etc), that we learn almost nothing about the characters. Even their sex games (if I can call it that) aren’t very interesting despite the premise (and the weird cat dream at the start)... it’s on sale again right now so I may pick up a second volume since I’ve read all I can of Arte in English, but I’m not holding out much hope for this one... the author should have read Soap & Sweat or whatever that one is called, bc that does weird fetish, sexy, and good characterization all at once.
It’s been forever reading a shoujo smut of this sort: quick to set the steamy pace. The connection between Aya and kamiya is established quickly because well. . . These type of shoujo reads time doesn’t like to be wasted. Kamiya referencing aya to cat is kind of cute particularly in one panel spread. It’s the mistake of giving into boss lust and expressing frustrated feelings. Kamiya so far has been a pleasant male protagonist, respectful more than anything. As with these reads everything is very dramatic on Aya end she is homeless and lives with her boss kamiya then has found a new place along other ridiculous happenings. This was a enjoyable read and the steam factor here is niceee too playful and subtle if that is your thing.
I love these titles as before bed reads, they are the best mood changer !!!
Not only did the review catch me - the title and premise was silly enough to BUY this manga from Amazon (yes it was on sale and all - but still).
The story is a largely conventional Shojo / Josei manga - I am still not sure when as even though the couple are both adults, the heroine comes across as very young and naïve. It could have been set in a high-school and it would have read the same pretty much (in fact I think I've read a number of Shojo manga with the same premise).
I still had a fun time with it so 3 stars. In fact I may have had enough of a fun time that I've gone and bought volume 2 -- oops!!
Umm so yeah it's smutty and silly but fun and I'm totally going to read more of this because I'm a trash can not a trash can't. The art is on the borderline of really pretty/cute and average. Plot is... well, the title tells it like it is. This is a not to be taken too seriously smut comic with a predictable plot but you know what sometimes you need/want that. Fair bit of warning though: this is one of those manga where the consent is a bit dubious, she says no but wants to and he doesn't stop. It's kind of that standard "I want to do this but society dictates I should say no" kind of things that happens in these kinds of manga. It's not too distracting here though.
In 2019, I started my year off with a not so good smut manga, so I figured I'd continue the trend in 2020.
This one isn't terrible. The girl is, as always, clumsy and sad--having left at the altar by her groom would do that to someone. The guy is her boss, who's cold and strict and unapproachable--except in bed, I guess? Blah blah seduction, blah blah naked barbie dolls, blah etc.
Hey, I liked it enough to get the second volume. 🤷
I am sure those that take a glance at the cover will understand there are moments of intimacy and partial nudity within the volumes of this book so be aware that Just at a glance the cover, description, and title bring images of potentially hentai related materials to mind in true harlequin style. Of course there is some rather intimate moments after the love interests in question find themselves in a situation after both have only really begun to heal from their own tragic love lost. With the house she was meant to live in now owned by her boss the supposedly sadistic man lets her stay as his kitten in jest but things still heat up as they adjust to this new living arrangement regardless of the dangerous ground of boss and subordinate might spell out in the future.
Now normally when I read a manga I am not looking for anything to erotic (sure fanservice is common enough) but after recently reading Our Fake Marriage, Vol. 1 it is nice to see the male character in these kind of stories can be compassionate even if he and the women who has lost everything due to a bad event in her life still give in to pent up sexual urges. In fact although there are many passionate scenes the story intermingled around the action are enjoyable as they deal with each other at home and at work making this afar more enjoyable and sometimes humorous title.
I just realized recently that there was manga on Kindle Unlimited. I found this one and decided to give it a try as it seemed up my ally of the types of books I normally read. The story was cute, but things did move incredibly fast. So if you are looking for slow burn, then this one wouldn’t be for you. But if you prefer fast burn, then you are in the right place. While I wouldn’t say this is the best manga I have ever read, I also wouldn’t say it is the worst. And I would def say it is worth giving a try. I will probably read through the ones available on KU and after I read them hopefully I will have enough of an idea of if I want to continue on.
This seemed like an interesting manga and I was excited to read it. It definitely wasn't what I was expecting, but I think I'll be continuing with the series. I found there wasn't much backstory or buildup to their boss–kitten relationship. The first kiss came out of nowhere basically in the beginning of the story, but I wish there was a bit more development before the kiss. The book was also more sexual than I was expecting, but I'm not complaining 🤣 The story is very fast-paced and I just blew through this manga. Overall, I'm just excited to see how their relationship unfolds over the next few volumes.
I just picked this up on hoopla real quick, and I gotta say, the story is alright. But above all... I really feel like Hisawa-sensei's art style does not work for this story. At all. This is kind of a kinky, steamy story about a very unique situationship that has the chance to blossom into something more, and Hisawa-sensei's art style is just... very immature. It does not feel sexy or even adult at all. Even our main character is 27 but she kind of looks like a high schooler. I think this is supposed to be a josei manga but it's definitely drawn like a shojo. I think this story in particular would have been a better fit for a different artist.
This was more sensual than I thought it'd be😳🙊 The main character has naughty dreams lol But its a simple plot and fun to read. Girl gets left at the alter and loses her apartment. She goes to the house she thought she move to and realizes her boss bought it. He invites her to stay and things get a lil crazy after a spontaneous kiss. She's cute, funny but insecure. Unlike the back says tho....her boss doesn't seem sadisic but kind of bossy but polite and kind yet...maybe too touchy lol Curious to see where this goes 😁
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one. Nothing but smut? A little smut w/ a hint of plot? It was actually a healthy mix of both story AND smut - and there was consent when things got spicy. The dream where she turned into a kitten AND THEN things got spicy was a little awkward for me, but I LOVED the double meaning word play in the office the next day! Very cute story and a really quick read! On to the next one!

I saw a couple of the Youtubers I follow reading manga, and it made me want to pick one up too. But, I wanted a smutty one, which this one is *AND* it's available on KU so it's perfect.
I've read manga years and years before, but I was pretty meh about it. But, that might change because this one was super fun! I love the art, too.
As for the story it's pretty basic, but cute. In volume 1, there were several intimate scenes, but nothing graphic.
