Sundae Wars
Dominic and Grandpa Bob are off to an exciting camping trip at Point Beach State Forest, but when Dominic gets the scoop about a recent robbery at the Historic Washington House and ice cream parlor, he finds himself smack dab in the middle of it. The town of Two Rivers is headed for a serious meltdown after a ledger proving their claim to sundae fame is stolen, with a televised commemoration only a few days away. A series of odd coincidences and daring discoveries puts Dominic on the case which ultimately leads him dangerously close to finding the criminals and solving the mystery. It won’t be easy with the bumbling park ranger always getting in the way, but with a little help from a strange group of hippies and the eccentric camp hosts, Dominic may just save the day. The “sundae,” that is.

Set in the town of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, Mystery at Point Beach is the story of Dominic and his friends' quest to solve the mystery of who stole an important ledger from the town's museum. This ledger proves that Two Rivers, not Ithica, New York, is the home of the first ice cream sundae.
It's a fun, fast-paced story with a likable cast of characters. Those familiar with Two Rivers will appreciate the details of the setting. And history buffs will appreciate the bit of true history woven into the story. This is a great read for young middle-grade readers who enjoy mysteries.

Picked this book up at the visitor center while camping at Point Beach with my family. It was a fun story that I read out loud to my kid while there. We hiked on and camped near where the bandits we're, which my kid thought was a hoot. We went to the Washington House in two rivers to make sure the sundaes were up to par ( they were, yum)!
