Krystina Cole was a girl on a mission. She had big dreams and aspirations, none of which included a man by her side. She knew better than that - at least until she met Alexander Stone, the New York billionaire real estate tycoon. She saw the way that he looked at her, and the dark promises in his eyes. She was curious about his world and all that it entailed. But the shadows of her past haunted her, making her afraid to explore possibilities that she could never before have imagined....

Alexander Stone was a man who knew how to get what he wanted. He understood the value of finesse, and the importance of patience and diligence to achieve the desired result. He was successful and wealthy, relying on his naturally sharp instincts to guide him through life. But a chance run-in with Krystina Cole quickly turned his world upside down. Her quick wit and firecracker attitude was the complete opposite of what he wanted in a woman, and his instincts failed him at every turn....

However, both Krystina and Alexander are clinging to the secrets of their past, and neither of them are willing to compromise. Krystina's hardened heart makes emotional surrender a hard limit. But for Alexander, revealing his past could have devastating results. Visit www.dakotawillink.com.

Soooo. Reading this book was rather difficult for me. I'm sure for someone not biased this was a great book. Alex was all alpha and hot and what not. Krystina was okay. Annoying at times, but otherwise okay. The reason this was such a difficult read for me was because i was biased as hell. To me this felt like a horrible mashup of FSoG and the Crossfire series. I personally did not enjoy it. Not just because i couldn't get the other two series out of my head, but also because it just didn't work for me. Everything was moving so fast. FSoG and Crossfire work great by themselves, but together this way it just didn't work. I didn't understand why Krystina told Alex what she did. I didn't understand Alex's sudden change of heart. There was no logic behind it and no emotional connection.

This was definitely an interesting book to say the least. I thought at first it was another BDSM book, about an overbearing alpha male and an innocent young virginal girl clinging to him. But Krystina had spark to her and wasn't afraid to express her feelings. Alexander, however, I did not care for. I felt he was an annoying character who did not come off as being protective, more like he was a bossy ass and sometimes I felt his dialogue did not fit his character. But overall, the novel was written very well and author definitely created a vivid look into the BDSM world.

Audio-book: Narrators – Lacy Laurel and Jeffrey Kafer

These narrators did an exceptional job! Both were able to switch smoothly from male pov to female pov without a disruption in my enjoyment of the story. Jeffrey’s voice was exactly as I would imagine Alexander’s to be and he brought the character to full dominate life. Lacy’s voice was sweet, innocent and perfect for the uncertain and confused Krystina. When emotion was called for both of these narrators allowed their voices to flow with the full depth of characterization. I could not have asked for better rendering than this duo.

I really enjoyed this story. The characters are each holding secrets that prevent them from looking for a full committed relationship. However, once Alex and Krystina begin their arrangement the chemistry between them is too much to ignore and they begin to sink into a deeper intimacy.

I did struggle some with the trust issue. While Krys eventually shared her secret, Alex did not, would not. And yet, he was the one who continued to remind her that their relationship required trust. That didn’t really work for me especially as he would demand it from her, and trust cannot be forced, it is earned over time.

Otherwise, I actually loved this couple. They were like my jam. I like sweet heroines who are soft in character (not weak doormats) and heroes who want to protect and provide for the heroine. I found both of these with Krystina and Alexander. I enjoyed that what Alex initially meant to be an occasional thing a few nights a week suddenly became a need to have her with him always. That right there…more jam.

I didn’t realize this would end in a cliffhanger and I kept thinking, better wrap this up guys! But alas, I was disappointed to learn there was no wrapping it up but a huge cliffy that is driving me freaking crazy right now! And while I have an abhorrence to cliffhangers, I’m secretly thrilled that Alex and Krys’ story isn’t over yet. Shh. Don’t tell anyone.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Holy Hot DAYUUMMM!! I just met my new dominant!! This book had it all!! An awesome hero and our dom Alex Stone and strong willed heroine Krystinna Cole. I crave this book everyday to get my hands on Mr Stone!!
For the lovers of FSOG this is your new fix and addiction. Mr. Stone is introduced to us as our new Dom and our submissive is Krystinna. Though worlds apart they have a undying connection to one another and while leading a different lifestyle they manage to fulfil each one as their own addiction. And addicted you will become. As we all fell in love with FSOG we were introduced to the world BDSM and this is no stranger in that world.
The one thing I love is that you can completely relate to the heroine. Krystinna is your average college graduate with marketing degree with no prospect of utilizing her degree while working in a grocery store, yes ladies in a grocery store! How much real can that get?!?! Meeting an investor due to financial woes of Wallys Grocery Store all things Krystinna would never do again has been completely chipped away piece by piece. And an offer she can refused lands on her lap or does she land in the lap on Mr. Stone?!?! In realistic position I was also excited how close this is to my Home town and yes I heard of Clifton Park.. 15 mins from where I live. I had such a true connection with the characters and how they were plotted into this story.
It had my heart pounding and aching all the same time. I was bewildered by Mr Stone in such ways that he was willing to be a different Dom than he normally all for this one girl girl. Their secrets divide them up, their passion fires their soul and their attraction becomes an addiction.
Will their secrets tear them apart or do they conquer each demon they faced.
I highly recommend this to meet our new Dom of 2016.
I was very surprised to how engulfed I was to this.
Dakota Willink- you are a goddess of BDSM. And I must say I was thrilled that you were so informative with the lifestyle and how it coveted in the story. And I learned a little more in each chapter!! :-* excellent writing and such creativity in the story of our characters background.

Def a must read if you are FSOG fan! loving the concept of steamy hot romance of a Dom and submissive!!

Krystina Cole is a recent college graduate living in NYC & is determined to be independent. She has struggle to find a job since graduation that will utilize her education. Alexander Stone is a NYC real estate billionaire who is set in his way. Alexander is completed intrigued with Krystina from the first time they met. He finds himself attracted to her in a way that he has never been before. Alexander wants to have a casual relationship with Krystina & introduce her into his world. He is aware that she is naive but he cannot help wanting her. And he is a man that is use to getting what he wants. But Krystina is not what he expects & she has him bending his own rules to make accommodations for her. They both find themselves unexpectedly in a battle of tug of war. He wants more, seeing her as someone who could be a long term commitment. She wants to keep it casual, so she doesn't fall & lose herself. But what is truly keeping them at an impasse is the secrets they keep from each other. Neither of them knowing how to trust or be honest about their pasts make it impossible to move beyond the pain that hold each of them in its grip. When Krystina is exposed to understand Alexander's needs & her past collide at the same time, she is left questioning what she really wants.

This is a brilliant debut novel by Dakota Willink. While reading this book, I was put through a multitude of different emotions from good to bad. I was truly captivated by this story & how the two characters were trying to find their way. As I'm writing this I feel stunned by what I read. It isn't that it's another dark romance dealing with BDSM but how Ms. Willink wrote the book. I would definitely recommend this book. The book is meant for mature readers.

OMG! What a book!!!! My review will not do this book justice and I apologize in advance!! I FLOVED this book!! I have read 50 shades and loved it, and this book was as sexual as that, but to me, this was 50 shades on steroids! The best part is this is book 1!!!!

Alexander Stone is a sexy God like alpha male who is a billionaire real estate tychoon!! Sign me up, please!! And to boot he has a masters degree in psychology!! So not only is he amazing in bed, he's bossy and he can figure out what makes you tick!!!

This cat and mouse story is fast paced and so sexually charged!! He likes to be in control of every aspect of his life and believes he is until a chance meeting with one Krystina Cole and it knocks him for a loop because he can't figure her out, so therefore, he's not in control. But, he will put forth amazing effort to remedy that issue!!

Krys is a college graduate looking for a real job. She temporarily works for Wally's grocery until she can find a job in her field. She's setting up displays and that's where she meets Alexander when she makes a complete idiot of herself. She went back to work to just get her phone, so she could enjoy her afternoon off. She's got the good angel, bad angel on her shoulders and the bad angel is doing the happy dance at this God in front of her.

I loved everything about this book!! The characters were amazing! Alexander is such an ass, but oh my gosh, he is a God!! Krys puts him in his place more than once and it drives him nuts and it's part of what makes this book so electrically charged!!

I look forward to seeing what the next book in this series will be like!

I enjoyed the book. It's not a typical FSOG story Yes there is a BDSM theme but I guess the focus was not just on the lifestyle but more of finding ones self and growing especially after a difficult past as the heroine, Krystina, experienced. The novel read well and the author took her time to research and write her novel. Krystina speaks her mind elements I do enjoy in a Romance novel. Alexander is full of riddles and mystery and I loved the author did not rush into the heroes past and give things away. The author may tease you a bit or give you hints in terms of Krystina and Alexander past but it is important to let the characters confess their demons and past to the readers which I thought was brilliant in the story. I had my surprises and shocks along with laughs.

I do not want to give too much, hence, I would get into Spoiler territory. I cannot wait to read the second and third installment of this novel. Dakota Willink I feel has a promising career in writing. First impression is lasting impression and the novel and her writing did just that. Congrats Dakota Willink. Awesome read!!! Can't wait for the next book.

Happy reading everyone!

Bad Combo of the Fifty Shades of Grey Series & the Crossfire Series

I loved those series (Crossfire the best), but this book was a disappointment. Krys has to be the most annoying thing and all over the place. Alex is fine. I barely finished.

I give this book five stars of awesomeness. Wow! Talk about a powerful erotic drama, this book is it. I like the smooth pace. The writer maintained an easy storyline of unrequited love. Romance. Hot and steamy sex scenes. Intense conversations and heart wrenching decisions. The writer was able to hold my attention from beginning to end. I like that she kept elevating the drama higher in each chapter of the book.
The writer didn’t put mundane dialogue or drama. She kept the storyline focused around Alexander and Krystina. I liked that she wrote the story to where it was written like a believable story. I liked that the writer did her research on the subplot to the story. Having did the research, helped me as the reader relate to the characters and understanding the situations that they where placed in.
The mystery and suspense the writer teased the readers within the book played very well in the book. I recommend this book book. I look forward to the next book. I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy.

Before reading this I had read a lot of reviews saying that this was a new "50 shades".
Well, IMO it isn't. I don't know why, maybe because I'm tired of reading the same again and again, but I skipped the sex scenes, and for me, it was an okay book. Without any plot twists and it had nothing that surprised me.

4.5 Stars

Every once in awhile you take a chance on a new author and that author goes on to show why we should never dismiss people stepping into the world of writing. For me, Dakota Willink is such an author. Her debut novel, Heart of Stone, is a book that showed me that new authors can be as equally talented writers and informative narrators as the more experienced authors we know and trust.

Although this book is reminiscent of others currently on the market, the writing style makes it an altogether refreshing change. There is a developing story which made me warm to the main characters immediately and with their connection came a special story which underpinned the essence of the book.

Krystina is a recent graduate who, now needing to secure employment, is currently working in a store. It's in that store that she first comes face to face with Alexander Stone. A businessman and entrepreneur, he is a property investor stepping in to save the family business where Krys works. After an embarrassing first introduction, for Krys, Stone sees something in her innocence and beauty that makes him question his beliefs about relationships.

As a Dom, Alexander Stone seeks only casual relationships that fit in with his lifestyle. The problem is, Krys is the opposite of the women he is normally attracted to and he fears that his interests will intimidate her. Using his wealth and influence, Alex sets about making her one of his employees before persuading her to enter into a sexual relationship with him. Open and transparent about his interest in BDSM, Alex tentatively explains to Krys what he is looking for in a Sub and what he hopes they can share together. Krys is understandably concerned and surprised by Alex’s declaration but her fears of entering into a D/s relationship stem from deeper emotions than even Alex could ever have anticipated.

Throughout the book, we are teased with Alex’s secretive and mysterious background which seems to underpin who he is today. We meet Alex’s sister, who gives us some insight into an a possible unpleasant childhood and this secret may be what stops Krys and Alex truly being together. Krys needs Alex to open up to her but Alex is unwilling to share his troubled past with her, despite Krys revealing her own painful memories.

Despite this being a long book, it maintained its momentum throughout and the story built to its conclusion which sets the scene for the next instalment. I'm not a huge fan of BDSM themed books but this is subtly explored and despite a visit to a sex club, the author didn't over emphasise the experience and, despite Krys’s innocence, the scene did not make me feel uncomfortable. Yes, this book ended on the inevitable Cliffe which came after an intriguing night out and an unexpected confrontation. The next instalment is already calling to me and I can't wait to see what's in store next for Alex and Krys.

Wow!! I'd like to first, thank the Author for allowing me to read and review her work, and second, thank you for your patience in waiting for my review. Life has been a little hectic. So let me get into this, Heart of Stone is and should be a great and perfect starter book for anyone who's just starting out in the BDSM world of literature. Alexander Stone...damn!! He's my new book boyfriend, he'll be on my mind for quite some time. Can you say "Alpha"? Hehehe. This story is about two people, Krystina Cole & Alexander Stone. These two definitely have trust issues, that stem from their past. They both make it quite known to each other that their pasts have defined who they are now. They both want each other and so Stone comes up with an arrangement that leaves Krystina a little on the fence. She's never been a part of his lifestyle. It's new, so of course, it can be scary and even a little intimidating. Krystina has to relinquish the one thing she's fought so hard to have control over. Trust. That seemed to be the theme here. Giving yourself to someone, wholely. Whether it be physical or mentally. And let's not forget, they're doing this with no strings attached. Not so easy when you feel like you're giving all & the other person isn't. However, this isn't just one-sided. It's going both ways. AND...it's basically the breaking point of this sexy, scorching hot, salacious read. While you're entertained by this sexy couple, you also become invested in their lives. Will they be able to overcome their insecurities, their issues? That ending!! OMG!! And it's because of that ending you'll be thinking of Alexander Stone until he's back. Grrr, I want book two already!! You cannot end it like that!! *Sighs* It's OK. I'm OK. I can get through this. I knew it was coming but it threw me off because I wasn't expecting it like THAT!! Mr. Stone and Miss Cole...there's no denying the chemistry, of these two, that set these pages on fire. Overall, a fantastic, sexy read that left me wanting so much more.

Oh. My. Goodness. I didn't like that ending one bit! (I loved it though!) I know. I'm contradicting myself but it was just that good.

So I just finished the book like 2 minutes ago an I'm stunned. This was a really well written story. But I have to say, there was TO MUCH inspiration from other books, specifically Fifty Shades. I was seeing a lot of these similarities from the beginning towards the 60% point, but after that I saw some originality.

I LOVED but hated the ending of this book! I say I loved it because it was unexpected. I say I hated it because I wanted the characters to have a different ending than this one, but I'll take it! Honestly this last part of the story added a couple stars onto my rating. Not many authors can write a good, well written cliffhanger and the author did that.

The characters were written well, as well. I thought the characters were SOMEWHAT original. I say somewhat because like I said before there were times when I was thinking, "originality please!" But overall each character was written well. But what I did love about the characters was that each character had a detailed, intense backstory and I loved that tid bit included.

The plot was ok. If I had to rate the plot alone I would rate the plot a 3.5. Again, originality is key when writing a book. But what really got me was the outcome of the characters. If you want to know what outcome I'm talking about, your just gonna have to read the book!

The sex was good, to a point. At some parts I felt like I read it before but overall it was ok.

Just to put this out there, I love Allyson! She's my new bestie because I just adore her. This is what a real girl-friends looks like! Lol

So overall I give this one a 4.5. Lovely book in all.

I LOVED listening to this audio!
The narrators did such a perfect job with this. I did not know what I was getting myself into. It was HOT. Looking at this cover you would not think you were about to read a billionaire dom/sub type of book. I loved Stone. He was all hard and edgy but he was so scared of Krystina leaving. I loved her too. She was a very strong female. I actually like this author alot and feel she is pretty underrated. Jumping right into book 2 audio!

I am new to Dakota Willink and I was a little nervous about reading this series. But OMG I was blown away. I absolutely loved the characters and how many different dimensions there was to them. The both have their flaws but they also both have amazing parts to them. Both Characters are so well written and I felt very one with them. Krystina does have her issues but Alexander is there for her 100%. The angst the passion and the story line was amazing. I felt like I was watching it from my bed. I am so looking forward to reading the next book and finishing this series. I think I have another favorite couple!

I have struggled over this review, more than I ever have any others. I contemplated not reviewing it at all. Contrary to what some people believe reviewers/ bloggers don’t like to be negative, but we also don’t feel the need to give everything 5 stars. Which is why, in the end, I’ve decided to write this review, because I committed to it and I’ve always been honest and I hope fair, in my reviews.

Alexander Stone is a wealthy businessman who takes a shine to Krystina Cole, both have sworn off relationships but sex? They can do no strings sex, surely that’s ok? Only Alexander has certain expectations when it comes to sex that Krystina may not be able to deliver. The chemistry they feel for each other is enough to make them question everything. Will they be able to overcome the odds and make their unconventional relationship work or will their secrets ruin things before they can really start?

I have to start by saying this story was not my cup of tea, the subject yes, but not the execution. I felt the story had great promise and at the beginning, I enjoyed it and thought it was a book I was going to love, it pains me to say that it didn’t work out that way. I had so many issues with how certain elements were handled. That, of course, is personal opinion and I’m sure many will read or listen to it and enjoy it. It was well written and although I don’t like to compare books, I will say that I think if you’re a fan of Fifty Shades of Grey you’ll like this book.

Alexander and Krystina literally bump into one another and the chemistry is there, they meet again and flirting ensues. Krystina needs a job and that job comes in the form of an offer from Alexander… with perks, he’s a dominant not looking for love but a sub he can spend a few nights with. Krystina is not a sub, she’s not a sub when he suggests it, and she’s not a sub throughout the book, she’s a woman mesmerised by a man who doesn’t take the time to explain things to her properly; things he wants, things he expects, and then he gets upset when she doesn’t act like a sub and questions him.

When I started listening to this book I liked Alexander but as the story progressed I took a dislike to him. He kept talking about trust like it was something that he could demand and Krystina would give, without question and without it being a two-way street. I’m sorry but it doesn’t work that way. The more he demanded the more I started to dislike him. I didn’t understand his need to keep his secrets so close to his chest, especially with someone he was falling for.
I liked Krystina, for me, she was a light in this story. She was sweet, yet strong, and knew what she did and didn’t want. I did get frustrated a few times when I wanted her to be firmer and stand her ground. The reveal of her secret was a pivotal moment in the story and for her as a character and it touched my heart.

The relationship between them was baffling, it was like neither of them knew what they really wanted. So much happened, in such a short space of time, it was hard to keep track of all the ups and downs. The sex scenes were steamy, well written and played a pivotal role in the story.

Jeffrey Kafer was great in this book, his performance of Alexander was fantastic. He transitions smoothly from the male and female POV and really draws you into the story.
I enjoyed Lacy Laurel’s performance of Krystina, I thought she had a great voice for her. When it came to Alexander I did have to increase the speed, but once I did I found I could enjoy it that little bit more. The part of the performance that really stood out for me was when Krystina was revealing her secret, the emotion and determination conveyed in the performance was beautiful.
However, the contrast between Lacy and Jeffrey is so stark that I feel the narration would have been better as a duet or if the book had only one narrator. Because Jeffrey has a deep baritone, so the switch between the two was so shockingly different that it took away a little from the story.

2.5 Stars

The summary actually does a good job of nailing down the premise of the book. It’s to the point, capturing the essence of Krystina and Alexander’s story. If only the book had been the same.

At 430 pages and a cliffhanger ending, Heart of Stone takes too long to tell what could have been a compelling, heart stopping romance. Krystina has all the makings of a strong heroine, but she gets lost in the drawn out “will she or won’t she” plot. Alexander is drawn to her fiery, independent nature, which stems from her father’s abandonment and a previous relationship with a controlling boyfriend. As a man who prides himself on controlling everything around him, the prospect of Alex falling in love with Krystina held promises of a sizzling hot romance. Instead, Krystina became too shrewish for my tastes, leaving me wondering why Alex continued to pursue her. Sure, as her secrets are revealed I understood her anger and armored heart, but the revelation came too late for me to connect with her.

Alex, however, opens up quickly to the idea of a relationship and works hard to change who he is, to become a man who Krystina could open up to. While his character demonstrates constant emotional growth, Krystina’s growth is only physical, taking place in the bedroom as Alex introduces her to the world of BDSM.

Author Dakota Willink bravely takes on the world of BDSM in Heart of Stone, her début novel. As Krystina knows nothing of this world, Willink uses Krystina’s introduction to the Dom/sub relationship as a primer for readers new to the BDSM lifestyle. She doesn’t do a bad job, familiarizing readers with both the physical and emotional aspects of it. But, just like with Anastasia in Fifty Shades of Grey, Krystina is not a true sub…and the similarities to FSoG don’t end there.

From their cute meet (Krystina falls in front of Alex) to Alex’s billionaire status at a young age, Heart of Stone is so much like FSoG that it was hard to ignore. And, just like with FSoG, we have to read through at least one more book to get to Krystina and Alex’s HEA.

2.5 stars for Heart of Stone as I thought it was okay. Heat level: 4.5

I received this book from the author in exchange for honest feedback.

Heart of Stone......where to begin. For starters, I love it and it's nothing like 50 Shades. It's much more in my opinion. You know I love a good spanking book ;).

Krystina Cole, is a college graduate looking for a job. She works for Wally's grocery until she can get job in her criteria. While setting displays, that's where she meets Alexander when she makes a complete idiot of herself. Surprise, surprise. She's got that good angel, bad angel on her shoulders and the bad angel is doing the happy dance at this God in front of her.

Alexander Stone, is enigmatic, passionate, and fierce, and sexy as all hell. He is Billionaire real estate tychoon and has a masters degree in psychology!! He's smoking hot and bossy smartypants. Just the way I love it ;).

When Alexander decided to go after Krystina, he killer instincts fall short, and he has a hard time with her as he tried to introduce her to his kinky world. His patience are put to the test as she question his knowledge about everything. Both characters have a dark past and both are horrible with communicating in my opinion.

You know how the book ended? You got it!! Cliffy!! Well that's a good way to get you to wait for the second book. I want to know what will happen and if there will be a happy ever after cause you know I'm all about HEA and gushy romance.

(SN: the books ends in a cliffhanger)

I have mixed feelings about this book - part of which stems from not caring for the female narrators voice and some from the fact that it was so similar to FSOG. From the millionaire dominant with the troubled childhood, to the brown haired ingenue that he finds himself obsessed with, to said ingenue who is naive, uneducated, and unprepared for the lifestyle - it almost comes off as fan-fictiony. That being said, I kinda liked the story. I'm pretty sure I liked Alex as a person more than Christian and while I didn't like Krystina as much as Alex, I liked her better than Ana. He exhibited more warmth and emotional depth, while she had more backbone. I detested the way they both failed to properly communicate with each other about their pasts considering how relevant they were to the present, as well as their failure to communicate honestly about their feelings towards each other. But I just couldn't stop listening. Full disclosure, I flipped to my Kindle copy of the book for the female narrators portion and I listened to the whole thing at 1.25x speed. There's was just a quality to her voice and something about the cadence and her spacing between words that sort of drove me nuts. I give the book 3 out of 5 wine glasses.

I hate cliff hangers..... but thought this book was amazing. I started reading it and could not put it down. This is the first book that I have read from Dakota Willink and I am very impressed with her writing, the way she hooks the reader. I just hate cliff hangers. Alex and Krystina are two very strong characters that have a lot of baggage and ghost in the closet. This book goes into the BDSM relationship and when Krys starts to research it and make her own contract I had to laugh especially when she brought it to Alex. Alex is a good guy that helps so many different people as a reader I am glad I didn't see his eyes because I fell in love with him.

Did I mention I hate cliff hangers lol this is the only thing that I hated about this book. Now we wait for book two and I sure hope the story is complete and there is not cliff hanger there as well. I could not find anything wrong with this book it's a must read.

Heart of Stone by Dakota Willink

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This story has a lot of people comparing it to Fifty Shades. And I can see why. You have a recent college grad, Krystina (Krys) who is still working at a local story called Wally's. In walks in multimillionaire, Alexander Stone. Stone is fascinated with Krys and wants to offer her a job, as well as benefits. Both Stone and Krys have past that prevent them from having a true relationship. There are similar situations as fifty shades, but they are so different that you can obviously tell the stories are different.

I loved the first book in the series, and can't wait for the remaining two books! I want to find out
what happened in Stone's past, how Krys is going to handle her past problems, and if these two will find a way to make their relationship work.

Really great story, with D/s and BDSM, but not as the main focus.

DNF at 48% … I really wanted to like this but I just couldn’t connect with the characters. The story gave strong Fifty Shades of Grey vibes … billionaire with a mysterious past, emotionally conflicted heroine, intense insta-lust and honestly, that comparison pulled me out of the story more than once.

Krystina’s inner turmoil around her feelings for Alex also felt a bit forced and I just wasn’t invested enough to keep going. I made it about halfway before deciding this one wasn’t for me. If you’re into possessive alpha types and emotional push-pull dynamics, this might hit for you but I needed more depth and originality to stay hooked.

Holy Cliffhanger! Forewarning. It will leave you gasping and you will want to know what happnes next immediately. That is the hardest part of series for me. Not having the next available right away.
I think that Dakota has done a great job of bringing about characters who are flawed. It makes them seem like they are real people and not cookie cutter book characters. Character Development is strong in this novel.
The romance and sexual content is the focus of this novel and I think that she has also done a superb job of bringing us into the relationship and making us FEEL!

When I first started reading this, I thought it resembled EL James and Sylvia Day’s books.. The more I read the more I found I was drawn to the plot, the characters and Dakota willink’s writing!

I completely fell in love with Heart of Stone. I got lost in the story, in the characters lives, I was waiting on tenterhooks for each and every chapter..

I really enjoyed this book, I can not wait to read the second instalment!

Great book - I recommend to Crossfire and Hacker series fans. Very engaging read.

As a side note, I read reviews that mention 50 Shades, whether they were comparing or not comparing. The only thing this book had in common to 50 shades was the BDSM element, although in Heart of Stone it wasn’t nearly as explicit and went in an entirely different direction than 50 shades.
