When a scandal threatens to bring dishonour upon her family name, Heather Bailey doesn't hesitate for a second. She will not allow her sister to fall prey to a loveless marriage and she is willing to sacrifice herself to a man she absolutely detests. If only her charming looks and vivid personality wouldn't be put to waste on a scornful baron that looks down upon commoners like herself... But is the restoration of her family honour really all that awaits Heather or will this just be the beginning of more than she could ever dream of?
Lord Adam Waterford is on the verge of losing his valuable position in aristocracy, after tragically losing his fortune, and can't bear the thought of his dear family ending up in a poorhouse. It will take everything he has to ensure the maintenance of his family status, even setting his pride aside and marrying a woman beneath his station that he has no interest in. He expects nothing of her and yet her sophistication and clever wit will catch him off guard. Quickly enough he will find it unbelievably hard to keep up with his usual contemptuous attitude. As if this wasn't enough, he will also unexpectedly find himself completely entranced by this woman's captivating presence. Is it really possible to overcome his own deeply rooted prejudice and find love in the unexpected?
Heather and Adam come from dreadfully different classes and are an unorthodox match that wouldn't exist in the first place weren't for the unexpected hurdles of their families. The beginning of their story is not at all promising and they can't help but brace themselves for the disappointment they think their lives are going to be. However, all it takes for this gloomy expectation to vanish is one true look at each other's souls... This is easier said than done though, as their vision is blurred by their preconceived assumptions and only by listening to their hearts, they will see the truth. Could a true captivating romance be discovered in such an unfortunate match? Or will the difference of their worlds tear their blossoming feelings apart?

This is the first book I have read by this author and it will be the last. The entire book was horrible. The H was unlikable from the first sentence to the last. The h was a pathetic push over from her wedding on. Spoiler! Did this author actually write the entire wedding with the bride hidden under a heavy veil, her name omited from the ceremony, no guest past their families present? They leave directly from ridiculously contrived wedding ceremony directly to his bedroom where she has the big reveal she's not her sister and he just shrugs and goes to his own bedroom!!! WTH??? h then proceeds to go through 9 months of her life being verbally abused. My God writer what were you thinking? The whole "plan" of living a part the last 3 months in order to trick his mother into thinking they weren't really together??? Not to mention non romance in the romance novel!!! Run from this book readers. Save yourself
WOW... An energetic reading. The H was one step from the poor house and was reluctant to marry for money. He felt as a Baron he was a cut above the rest of the common world and looked down upon those below his class. His best friend talked him into meeting two lovely young ladies. They were daughters of a very wealthy merchant. He could not hide his disdain. But to save his family from poverty he had no choice. He was old fashioned when it came to what women could and could not do and that immediately caused an argument between him and the h. After they married (the h under duress) they had a lot to overcome. The h was a brilliant math genius and was interested in geography, science and so on. Which was frown on by society. But her father gave her full reign over his books and shipping business growing up. Her new husband would not hear of her touching his books. Like I said, a lot to overcome. Plus, the mother-in-law loathed her being a commoner and was ungrateful for how her father bailed them out of debt and renovated their London home. They did not get along. As time went on the h/H grew to know each other better and began to appreciate each other. But then things got out of hand again with the mother-in-law and the h/H had to go through drastic measures if they hoped to resolve it. I would have given this a five-star rating but there were some questions and observations that were not addressed. For one the twins did not like the H's best friend but it was never revealed why. Also, when the H's faithful servant was dismissed on charges of theft, it took too long for the H to deal with it properly and get to the bottom of it. Also, the H's superiority subtlety changed but I thought the author ought to have handed him a lesson or two to open his eyes and see he was prejudice and acting like a jerk. But he really did not have any trouble transitioning at all. I feel that was a lost opportunity for the author. And for another thing the mother-in-law never had an epiphany for all the derogatory things she said to the h and regretted it. It was like poof she was changed. I believe the overall concept of the story is wonderful but the story itself can be improved on. However I enjoyed it just the same.

A Sweet Romance of the Jane Austin Pride and Prejudice Variety
Aria Norton's Regency Romance, Untangling the Baron's Love, is a sweet story full of the classic themes of the times. Ms Norton includes the classic clash between the nobility and the merchant class, as well topic Austin made famous, pride and prejudice. I liked her character transformation of her male protagonist, the Baron. From an arrogant nobleman so sure in the righteous beliefs of the time, he slowly learns to accept that maybe his wife can be an equal partner in his life. The change takes time and there are many obstacles along the way . But the journey to enlightenment, given the historical times,is believable. I did have problems with Heather ,Aria Norton's , female main character. I loved her strength and independence in the beginning. She was a woman before her time, determined to not let any man make her feel less than. Yet, as the book progressed, I felt there were times that her character lost her goal (Her self), hiding in her room, refusing to make waves instead of standing up for herself as she had done in the beginning. I had trouble relating to these inconsistencies and it took away some of my pleasure in the novel. However, Ms. Norton brought the book to a very beautiful happily ever after in the end. I closed the book with a smile and joined my dogs for a nice winter nap. All in all a good day! Also the preview of her next book A Love Song for the Duke, had me adding the book to my already full TBR shelf!
Lord Adam Richardson, the Baron of Waterford, has inherited his father's debts. His mother and twin brothers depend on him to keep his family out of debtors prison. Gambling isn't getting it done, and he is one game shy of being penniless.
His friend Lord Malahide, Mason, suggests he marry a wealthy shipping merchant's daughter. The dowery will be enough to set his household to rights once again.
Unfortunately, Miss Heather Bailey and Miss Jasmine Bailey do not meet Waterford's high standards when he meets them in a ballroom. Upon initial contact, the girls' parents, Bert and Violet Bailey have not impressed him much either. He cannot refuse to wed the younger girl when Mr. Bailey agrees to the match.
The two men strike a deal. Too bad, Jasmine has fallen in love with Navel Officer David Lloyd and has turned into a watering pot.
Heather, the oldest sister, is a stubborn forward-thinking young woman with a head for numbers; she keeps the books for her father. She cannot miss the chance to take Waterford down a peg or two when he insults her family.
What happens when the bride-to-be skips, then her sister take her place? Will the reluctant bride and the duped groom ever find common ground.
Read this amusing tale abounding with plot twists and surprises! Can you find the parallels to "The Taming of the Shrew?
Lord Adam Waterford, is a Baron who is about to lose his fortune and position in society. His friend talks him into marrying a wealthy Merchants daughter with a large dowry to save him. He meets the Bailey daughters, Jasmine and Heather. He is supposed to marry Jasmine who is quiet and shy, Heather and him are like oil and vinegar. Heather is not shy and speaks her mind, she is not fond of titled gentlemen and knows Adam thinks less of them because they are commoners.
When a scandal threatens to cause problems for her family, Heather Bailey doesn’t hesitate and she makes the sacrifice to marry Lord Adam Waterford. Although, they find themselves married and unsure of each other initially they have attraction to each other and find they may have more in common than they thought. I truly enjoyed this book, the characters were very genuine, there were surprises and the extended epilogue tied up things very nicely.
Will they have a change of heart? Here we have two people coming together without like much less love, do Heather and Adam really has a chance? I enjoyed this book Heather does what wishes not to do out of love. Adam is a man who has lost his fortune yet still has an attitude of self-importance and the thought of marrying someone of a lower class is totally beneath him but also out of love of family he does what he must. As you read there will be times you will wonder will prejudice be the downfall for our characters. I enjoyed seeing the changes each go through and as a reader I was hoping for a good ending to their tale. It was a beautifully written piece I love the cover too. This is a book having in your collection.
This is one of the books included in "Daring Ladies Fighting for Love: A Historical Regency Romance Collection" that I read. A Story of love based on social differences (powerful titled men, strong but poor women from lower social class - commoner) are always a good start to disaster if not backup with real true love and strong will to achieve a greater goal... a forever ever happy life. The obstacles to achieve love are numerous and great but our heroes are really strong willed and don't give up until they marry the love of their life...
I had so much hope for this book. I'm a sucker for MoC, plus here we have inter-class marriage. So many potentials! But it turned out flat. The plot dragged along sooo faaar. It was only around 30% mark that the hero and heroine finally MET each other. Even after that, there aren't too many scenes of them together. Their love story feels flat to me. The story delves on too deep to too many characters' POV, but still fails to deliver the story. I ended up skimming the last half.
I completely loved this story right from the start, two who were so much a like, but different class, both could not stand each other, learning titles and wealth does not but love, not does status define who you marry. Aria Norton delivers another beautiful two strong willed characters, and the battles they faced together discovering their love through trials & tribulations. A must read!
Sacrifices for one’s family is not really an unusual thing to see in books but wow! I was amazed at the strength of character to actually go through with it and marrying into a family that wasn’t really...that welcoming...or a husband who was...cold. In the end though, it was such an amazing turn of events that even I didn’t expect it. How a birth could change things and bring more than hope...it was a nice read.
Two people who have problems with their families and can only solve it with marrying each other. Only thing is he thinks she is beneath him socially. She thinks he is too stuffy. But with time passing they find out they have a lot in common and love comes. I loved it. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
Two sisters have problems with family.Youngest has been promised to a lord to solve his money problem.Only she has fallen in love with a solder.Devoted sister, going to solve said problem.Only youngest elopes causing the family to loose face.I loved this story and in courage all to read it.Not a dull moment in it.All comes right in the end.
Untangling the Baron's Love A Historical Regency Romance Book
This is another good story written by this author and it is about family and love Heather and Adam get together to prevent scandal and they found love. This story has a good plot and characters that show emotion The extended epilogue is also wonderful This is a enjoyable story
This is a brilliant book that has plenty of surprises and intrigue. It has a plot that is gripping and beautifully written. There is some very emotional moments, especially the extended epilogue that has a great reunion between two of the characters. A story that will suit anyone who loves clean historical romances that keep you guessing. I read an ARC copy
A beautiful love story. Similar is some ways to the beginning of Austin’s Price and Prejudice but, in my opinion, better. I wish there was a little more of the romance and lovemaking that obviously occurred. However it is a beautiful story that I am happy to recommend.
These characters are really good.I'm glad the mystery of Susannah was cleared up. Do wonder exactly how much money Mason made from his bet. I love happy endings! A good love story.
I have just come across this author and I am looking forward to reading more from her. This was a fun and quick read with an intelligent heroine. The dialogue between the main characters is refreshing and truly enjoyable.
Great story with a wonderful story line with characters you will fall in love with, Heather married to safe her families honor, Adam married to Safe his family from poverty And together they found love
Many different ideas introduced to vary the storyline. Heather was quite the lady and let love guide her. She was much more than a commoner in this regard. Good read.
