The Epilogues: Part II

Nothing says romance like spending a long weekend at a haunted inn famed for sending its guests to the ER with scratches, bites, and fractures. Or so Linus thinks when he books a trip for Grier and himself to Oliphant House. As far as honeymoons go, the choice is nontraditional, but then, so is his bride.

Haunted history is one of Grier’s great loves, and she’s thrilled to discover Linus has given her a mystery to solve. Forget walks on moonlit beaches and sipping fruity drinks, Grier would much rather unravel the curse that’s plagued the Oliphant family for generations than pick sand from between her toes.

The resident spooks, however, aren’t happy with the newlyweds sticking their noses where they don’t belong. Between the missing persons, the dead bodies, and the secrets lurking in the basement, Linus and Grier start to wonder if they’ll survive their honeymoon.

The series is wrapped up, but what, you are surely wondering, did Grier and Linus do on their honeymoon? Never fear, this novella answers the question and describes the sordid honeymoon events at a haunted bed and breakfast. Strangely, I felt like it was less 'romancey' than the prior series, so take that for what you will. It focuses instead on the investigation of the house. Are they ghosts? Poltergeists? What's with the creepy owners? The lying kid? What's Lethe hiding?

Something about it doesn't quite gel. I don't know if it's my confusion/ambivalence at the solution to the mystery and situation, or at the sudden new turn personal events take at the end. It's not bad by any means, but it just didn't really live up to the promise of earlier books. Or maybe Quarantine Fever is finally wearing off.

Two and-a-half ghosts, rounding down to differentiate it from the 3 star reviews.

Dear Ms. Edwards,

I love the story of Grier and Linus very much!
Because their relationship is so unique and in away kind of a reverse from standard ‘normal’ relationships. The readers will understand this, after they read this series! 😘

However, I would appreciated very much if you continue this series as a full novel, not a novella.
Because we really wanted more from these two, especially after the ‘bomb’ you drop at the end of the book, love it! ❤️❤️❤️.

Thank you for writing this fabulous series Ms. Edwards and please continue to do so! ❤️

Sincerely,
One of your faithfully fan.

I absolutely love these characters and I love that the author choose to give us these glimpses into their life together. Most of all, I love how this ended and even if we don't get another, although I really really hope we do, I love what it means for this couple and am (weirdly I know!) excited for them.

How to Survive an Undead Honeymoon is novella two in The Beginner’s Guide to Necromancy: The Epilogues by Hailey Edwards

I enjoy Grier and Linus together and it was great to get their honeymoon story.

As you can expect their honeymoon isn’t the typical honeymoon. Linus does the one thing he knows Grier will enjoy a bed-and-breakfast with a haunted history. However, they may have gotten in over their heads.

Its so sweet to see the changes in Linus and Grier. The haunted house they are staying at was interesting. Edwards keeps the readers entertained with a clever mystery and touch of romance. I enjoy returning to the world and characters.

How to Survive an Undead Honeymoon is a perfect escape. Fans of The Beginner’s Guide to Necromancy will adore this installment.

I really love this series. And I really really love the characters... I want to roll around in the happiness of Linus and Grier, I love it so much.

I haven't been able to read the spin-off series, because I honestly just hate Hadley and don't care to see her get the power she was willing to fuck everyone over to get. It feels like she's getting rewarded, and I'm not into that. I don't care if she has a hard time learning how to navigate with it, in the end she got what she wanted, and she's going to get a love interest, and meh. I'm not here for it. I'll just continue to eat up every bit of Grier and Linus that I can find, instead.

I love that Linus knows Grier so well that he knew the perfect place to take her for a honeymoon. But with these two, nothing is as it seems. Sure they were able to get to the bottom of things and I'm a bit sad that the answer was as boring as it was. I'm also glad that Linus and Grier brought the hammer down on the offenders. But the best part of this one was the secret that Lethe spilled, so great! I hope we get more to learn how things go from here!

I think I would enjoy watching Linus and Grier reading the telephone book together.

Of course, this is far more entertaining. This second epilogue follows the two of them on their unorthodox honeymoon to a haunted hotel.

I love how well Linus knows his new bride. He knows what she'll love and he trusts her skills enough to know that, together, they'll be safe. It's also satisfying to see him finally coming to trust in her love for him and growing secure in their relationship.

The mystery was fun and the reveal the end warmed my heart.

I doubt I will ever get enough of these two. Thanks, Hailey Edwards, for giving us a peek inside their HEA.

Linus surprises Grier with a honeymoon location that only Grier would love – a haunted B&B that has a demon emerge every 30 years coinciding with their visit.

Well, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Grier and Linus would end up in a dangerous place for their honeymoon, but actually seeking it out was a bit surprising. No relaxing beaches and drinks with umbrellas for them. And yet, even as they are puzzling this mystery out and trying to stay alive in the process, they still have time to enjoy the romance between them like honeymooners should. It was so adorable. Only one little novella left. I can't wait to see how Grier handles her new condition.

I loved that this book went Back to basics just Linus and Grier (for a while at least).

Linus being utterly adorable decides to take his new bride to a legitimate haunted house, only to find themselves trying to untangle a web of mixed suspicions and beliefs in the newest mystery....

Yep utterly brilliant

How To Survive an Undead Honeymoon has us tagging along for Grier’s surprise destination honeymoon. Since neither can stay away from their positions for long, Linus books them a weekend at the Oliphant House. A bed-and-breakfast with a haunted history.

Every thirty years the Oliphant House awakens with activity and you guessed it, Grier and Linus arrive just in time. It was the perfect gift as Grier loves this sort of thing. Linus booked the entire inn just for them. However, they might have gotten themselves in over their heads as the spiritual attacks are violent.

I loved seeing the subtle changes in Linus, now that the two are wed. They have the house to themselves until unexpected guests arrive. Two-guesses who can’t stay away even if it is her bestie’s honeymoon.

The haunting was interesting as was the inn’s history. Edwards spun a tale that was chilling and entertaining. A clever mystery with a touch of romance and laughter made for the perfect escape. As always I enjoyed spending time with these characters. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

After reading How to Kiss an Undead Bride: The Epilogues, a novella in The Beginner's Guide to Necromancy, I honestly wasn't sure if I was interested in continuing the series. I know it's called The Epilogues, but I hate time jumps in a series and we jumped years for that novella. After all, look at how well that worked for Harry Potter. (Was anyone really happy with that ending? I don't think so.) Also, while I don't mind romance in my urban fantasy, when it overtakes it..? Bleh. The plot completely fell to the wayside to focus on the uber-obsessive lovie-dovie relationship that Linus and Grier have. All that = moving on. Unfortunately, some authors do reach that point where the series just needs to end. I really thought we were there BUT...

Is there anything cuter or more appropriate than our favorite PNR couple Greer and Linus on their honeymoon in a haunted mansion?

The eccentric yet lovable couple spends their honeymoon doing their favorite thing- seeking and solving the weirdest problems.

I missed the entire gang, from Lethe and her hubby, and thankful for the cameo and big surprise reveal!

This is one of my favorite stories and I am so happy Hailey gave us these lovely nuggets to hold on to and gave our crime-fighting duo a happy ending!

Linus. Grier. Haunted House. Honeymoon. Power Couple + Cold Showers + Unsolved Mystery = How to Survive an Undead Honeymoon❤☠❤

For the BGtN fans who thought this sweet little post-wedding epilogue to Grier's story would be a breezy, hand-holding (boring), walk on a beach, with tropical fruit drink umbrellas spinning (splash of Vitamin L for the lady) - you are so going to be disappointed! Or thrilled! I'm still doing the Necromancer happy dance - oh wait, laying like an undead corpse on the floor isn't really celebratory, rather more like a tantrum over finishing the book...

Hailey Edwards' Necromancy series may deal with a whole lot of dead things but this author's writing breaths life. #MegaFan

*Note - Ants on a Log (Chapter 11, Loc 1889) My favorite snack of all time and one of Grier's🥬😵🥜 (FYI - I freeze my raisins... makes it taste like a candy bar💋

“How to Survive an Undead Honeymoon” is the perfect ending to the Beginners Guide to Necromancy. However, I am not convinced that this will be the final book.

Linus and Grier have left for their honeymoon. Instead of heading to a beautiful island retreat Linus has planned the perfect honeymoon for Grier. He has book the entire Oliphant House, a site known for bizarre attacks on guests every 3O years. Linus knows Grier will get a kick out of trying to solve the mystery. Of course the first night they are attacked by Shadow cats.

The Oliphants transgender granddaughter, Kylie is been sneaking into the inn and staying there. She gives Grier and Linus and unlikely story and they are determined to get to the bottom of things. Then a pair of vampires show up pleading to be allowed to stay at the inn. Linus acquiesces and soon other odd things occur.

Then Lethe and Hood arrive at the inn when the wraith, Cletus goes to fetch them. They promise to explain how they were able to get to the inn so fast once the mystery is resolved. The answer is epic.

This read was nothing like you would expect a honeymoon would be but typical for the lives of Linus and Grier. There was mystery, intrigue action and fun. I just hope this truly isn’t the end of this series. If you haven’t read any of the previous books, what are you waiting for?

4.5 Stars... This was a fun read from start to finish... The honeymoon location and scenario fit Linus and Grier to a tee... A haunted bed and breakfast with a shady past and the potential for murder and mayhem...Could we get any more romantic for this beloved duo???... I love the connection between these two characters and their witty banter that intensifies their already scorching chemistry... Add in Lethe and Hood and the chaos is bound to ensue... Of course Hailey Edwards had to leave us with a bit of a zinger at the end... Looking forward to how that one plays out... I am so happy the author decided to continue Grier's and Linus's story with these epilogues... I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye to these lovable characters:)

More adventures with Grier and Linus are always a plus in my book. I love these characters and am so glad that Hailey Edwards is giving us these additional stories on top of their original 6 book series. This one made me smile a lot, especially the ending. My only real complaint with it is that I wish 'Undead Honeymoon' would have been longer, the shorter format meant there was less time for the honeymooners to be... well... honeymooners, and I missed that for them and for all the readers that love them.

okay future me, just go ahead and skip this one you really like the series you read all of them you like the characters and the humor and it reminded you a lot of the Rue Hollis gray witch series so yeah it was a good series. This book, however, was not good there was almost no honeymoon at all which I get you got to make it a mystery to go with the series but it was kind of a letdown as an epilogue with honeymoon in the title. You can read the bride epilogue again but skip this one: no reread.

So awesome!

I hope there are MANY epilogue's to come!! Fun, exciting mystery with classic Greer humor . Linus is so adorably sexy I can't get enough. Also glad his confidence is starting to shine through with his relationships with Greer and others. Great ending. I just wish we could have gotten wooley's reaction to the news

I absolutely adore these characters, and getting another book with them is such a pleasure to read. Greir and Linus's adoration of each other is so heartwarming, I have a giant smile on my face while continuing their story. They finally get a weekend away to celebrate their marriage with a honeymoon, and of course there are spooky things that go bump in the night, and it's more than these two anticipated!

I am a huge fan of Grier and Linus, and I am ashamed to admit that I forget that until I read a book about them. They are just so cute together, and I just love the way the author makes two broken people fit so well together. This latest was about Linus taking Grier on a unique honeymoon that turns into a disaster, but one that is action-packed and fun. Yes, some of their family shows up, and helps them. It turns into quite the honeymoon. I love the interactions between all the characters, and the writing is superb. What a shocker at the end! Now, I can’t wait for the next one…you can’t leave me hanging! LOL! Highly recommend!

These two just can't really get a break. What was supposed to be a cool honeymoon, filled with mundane mystery solving fun daytime activities, turned into a full blown supernatural case. The ghost stories turned out to be super real, and the new couple has to put their fun times aside to help out some humans wading into things they probably didn't really understand. Smh. Of course I loved it, and now I'm onto the next one.

This book was a little different than the rest of TBGTN books. Not in a bad way though. Still lots of excitement but not quite as many emotional ups and downs. It ends it typical Edwards style, leaving you wanting to read more. Can't wait for the next book!

Nothing says I love you like a haunted hotel honeymoon, especially when there are 30-year-old murders unsolved and someone seems to have it out for the newlyweds. This was a quick, fun read. I hope the next epilogue comes out soon. There's a bombshell at the end of this one just begging for more detail.
