A gripping and enthralling follow-up to The Network (praised by Steve Berry as “mandatory reading for any thriller aficionado”), in which a conspiracy with far-reaching implications threatens to engulf our heroes.
It’s been almost two years since investigative reporter, Jack Logan, and television producer, Taylor Parks brought down the Institute—the secret facility responsible for indoctrinating a generation of America’s political and media power players. Their lives are just getting back to normal, and Jack and Taylor have settled into married life with their young son, Evan. The man who’d threatened their lives—Damon Crosse, is dead, and his evil plan for society thwarted.
But soon a series of bizarre murder/suicides capture Jack’s attention. When he begins to piece together the seemingly unrelated incidents, a disturbing pattern emerges. Could someone be intentionally causing people to become homicidal? Meanwhile, Taylor is producing a story about a class action suit against a national insurance company that has reached the Supreme Court. As Jack and Taylor uncover layer after layer, they start to suspect that their stories are connected and that there is something darker and more insidious at play.
When they make the shocking discovery that Crosse actually faked his own death, and is very much alive, Jack and Taylor must race against the clock to try and find him before he executes his new plan to take back control and destroy not only their lives, but the future of the country.

Holy cliffhanger! I am going to go out on a limb here and say there is about 99.9999% chance there is going to be another book in this series!
I did read the first in this series...The Network, but this can be read as a stand-alone. The author does a great job of filling you in. However, I felt like I knew the true evil possessed by Damon Crosse due to my having met him the last novel.
We meet up again with Taylor and Jack. Both investigating a rash of violent crimes by otherwise normal citizen..brutal and shocking...are they connected?? Another story is brewing about an insurance company making some very questionable decisions...let's just say Taylor and Jack find themselves very busy this time around.
This was an action packed book just like the first one in the series. As the book intensified the chapters got shorter and I found myself flying through them.
If you didn't know by now, I will clue you in. L.C. Shaw in the other half of Liv Constantine..who wrote The Last Mrs. Parrish, The Last Time I Saw You and The Wife Stalker!
Thank you so much to HarperCollins for my gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
The Silent Conspiracy is the second book in the Jack Logan series, a follow-up to The Network. Jack is an investigative reporter working alongside TV producer, Taylor Parks. They are on a mission to do what’s right, no matter the cost.
I found The Silent Conspiracy to be even more of a nail biter than The Network. The pacing is strong, and I was worried about Jack and Taylor! I love them as characters, and I am eager for the next installment. Oh, and this one ends with a giant cliffhanger, so I am certain L.C. Shaw will be gifting us another story here!
An action packed high-octane thriller. This is the second book in L. C. Shaw’s Jack Logan series. I think this book would be better appreciated if you have read the first book THE NETWORK. This book does start two years after the previous book finishes, but there is a lot of backstory from the first book. Jack and Taylor are now married and have an 18 month old son Evan. They are feeling pretty secure after all the bad guy took his own life in the previous book. BUT strange things start to happen, seemingly normal people start acting violently. Jack would be certain that Cross is behind the violence if he were still alive. Secrets are revealed, magical coins resurface, conspiracy, Mystery, and a cliffhanger.
This was an interesting story but wow did it end abruptly. I cannot remember a cliffhanger quite like the one in this book, I seriously thought part of the book was missing. This is an authentic action thriller. There isn’t a great amount of character development, there aren’t a lot of twists and turns. But there was a ton of action and loads of intrigue and subterfuge. Just like the previous book this book reminded me a lot of THE DA Vinci CODE. Secret societies with some political and religious implications. The audiobook was narrated by Charlie Thurston Who really brings the perfect tone to the story.

*** Big thank you to Harper Perennial & Harper Audio for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***
Jack Logan works as an investigative reporter and his wife Taylor Parks as a television producer. Two years ago they worked together to expose a secret and powerful organization named ”The Institute”. They are both now settling into married life with their toddler son, Evan.
Jack becomes has become intrigued by reports of numerous violent murder-suicides reported nationally in the news. He is drawn to the fact that in all the stories the individuals have had no previous violent behaviors in their past. He sets off to interview some of the victims and their families. At the same time, Taylor is working on exposing an insurance company that is under fire for its questionable practices involving healthcare claims. Taylor and Jack soon find that their investigations have some common threads, and danger ensues.
The Silent Conspiracy by L.C. Shaw is a follow-up to her last novel ”The Network”. This book provides enough detail and backstory so that it can be read as a stand-alone. This book is a suspenseful thriller that packs a punch with evil characters, deception, and intrigue.
The second installment in the Jack Logan books is as compelling and heart-pounding as the first.
The Silent Conspiracy is the second book featuring Jack Logan, and it does pick up two years after the previous book and has a related plot. If you didn’t read The Network, I do recommend that these books are probably best when you’ve read both. However, the author does provide a recap of the main events from the previous book, so you could read this without reading the first one.
L.C. Shaw I discovered is actually the pen name for one half of the writing duo that publishes under the name Liv Constantine—so that was a fun bit of trivia I discovered! I would say the L.C. Shaw books have a more traditional thriller feel to them than the psychological thrillers of Liv Constantine, and both are outstanding. The Jack Logan books always give me Dan Brown vibes (which I intend as a huge compliment), because they have ties to religious themes and relics or iconography that relate to a very real conspiracy in modern times.
In this book, Jack and Taylor are settled into life as parents of Taylor’s son Evan, whom she was pregnant with in the last book. Taylor is a bit overly protective of Evan for good reason, given what happened to her previously. Now, she works freelance for a media outlet and is pursuing a story interviewing families whose insurance claims were declined because their loved one wasn’t seen as having good enough health for the life-saving procedures. I thought this storyline in the plot was fascinating and sadly probably has some truth to it in real life.
Meanwhile, Jack is investigating a string of murder suicides popping up all over the area. These individuals largely seem to be regular people with no history of violence or mental illness, then suddenly they snap. Jack begins to suspect that there may be more to it when high levels of certain drugs appear in their toxicology reports, despite no evidence of prior use.
The most troubling storyline in this book is the terrifying realization that Damon Crosse—notable villain from the previous book and biological father to Evan—appears to have faked his own death and is still at large. And he is after something that Taylor and Jack have…
I really enjoyed the contrast of good versus evil and how many can be corrupted, no matter how good their intentions are. The back half of this book flies by in an action-packed sequence, and had some great twists along the way. And the ending! Well let’s just say I already am ready for the next book in this series!
Thank you to Suzy Approved Book Tours and Harper Collins for my copy. Opinions are my own.
Thank you Harper Perennial and L.C. Shaw for the opportunity to read this book!
The Silent Conspiracy by L.C. Shaw is the second book in the Jack Logan Series. Jack Logan and his wife Taylor are settling into life as parents to Evan. They adore their family unit and everything seems to be going perfectly until a series of murder-suicides attracts Jacks’ attention. As an investigative journalist, something does not feel write. Taylor is looking into an insurance company and how they treat those who they insure. On top of all that, Evan begins to act out of the ordinary. As they try to piece together all the puzzles, they realize they are in more danger than they thought possible.
Before I get into my review, I must say this. I would have probably enjoyed this book a lot more if I had read the first book. To me, this book should not be read as a standalone novel. So many of the issues I have in this book, stem from not knowing what happened in the first book.
So this is a unique thriller. Or should I say mystery? To me, it did not feel like a thriller. There was a twist but it wasn’t shocking. What makes it unique is the religious mysticism or lore behind the evil villain. Yeah, there is no other way to describe him. He is a typical evil villain looking for ancient coins from the betrayal of Jesus that drives people mad. If that is the kind of mystery you are into, then this book is for you! The religious aspect was so over-the-top that I thought that this was religious fiction. I think I was hoping for something more realistic, like a serial killer, rather than this evil man trying to destroy the world with ancient coins.
There is a lot of background that would have been helpful in reading this book. Many random characters pop in and then disappear and there is not really any arc conclusion to them. They are just there. Once again, this probably stems from not reading the first book. (I feel like I have to restate this because they were problematic to me but for those who read the first book, it most likely makes so much more sense.)
Here are the two issues that bothered me the most. First of all, the dialogue. Man. It is so stilted and unrealistic. There isn’t any chemistry or emotional depth between any of the characters. The second is the ending. It ends on a massive cliffhanger. I don’t mind cliffhangers normally, but I would prefer the main story arc to wrap up. This book ends practically mid-scene. I thought I was missing a few pages because I thought there is no way it could end there.
However, it was a decent mystery. It had a unique mystic flair. Those who are more religious would appreciate the religious themes. And I think that this book is definitely written for those who finished the first book. I went back and forth on my rating but I decided on 3 out of 5 stars. This book comes out on September 15th, so if you are a fan of the Jack Logan Series, it is time to pre-order!
Are you all ready for this new Conspiracy thriller? If you read The Network you are going to fall right back into that same thriller, heart racing, and thrills with this book. Shaw is one of the best thriller authors of 2020 and I cant wait to see if there is going to be a third book in the series by her. This is a must read 4 star book. I highly recommend it. The Mary Reader received this book from the publisher for review. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are our own.
Shaw is a master storyteller - pace, plotting, characters - all of it is top notch. Jack Logan is the ultimate hero and easily carries this series through this page-turning second installment. Lovers of conspiracy theories and political suspense will find this right up their alley!
L.C. Shaw is back with another amazing Jack Logan novel! This one is filled to overflowing with the same amazing thrills, twists and turns as THE NETWORK, and I loved every minute of this one! From start to finish, I followed Jack and Taylor on their chilling, page turning journey.
Damon Crosse, Taylor’s father, is one heck of a character! He was absolutely chiseled perfectly for his role in this story. The pages turned, and I felt myself falling deeper and deeper into heart of the conspiracies, the darkness of the suspense and the thrills of the chase.
Once again, Shaw has created a captivating story that will take you on a roller coaster ride. Shaw will set you down in unexpected places, and you’ll be thirsty for more. Stay up late, turn the pages, and get lost among this magnificent, 4 star second installment of Jack Logan series. I can’t wait to see what Shaw has in store for her fans next!
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from Author/Publisher and was under no obligation to post a review, positive or negative.*
Another page-turner by LC Shaw, The Silent Conspiracy continues the story of Jack Logan as he and his wife track down her villainous father, Damon Crosse, who is hell-bent on destroying the world. An intriguing and face-paced story that gives voice to things normally relegated to the realm of conspiracy theories but with the chilling realization that not everything we are told is true. Fact and fiction collide in a book that will keep you on the edge of the seat as only a master author can do!
Political Suspense Conspiracy Theories Fast Paced Read
LC Shaw is one of my favorite authors and a superb master storyteller. The Silent Conspiracy is a follow up to the Network Jack Logan series book #2. This installment was absolutely intriguing with amazing pacing, plotting and villainous characters. If you enjoy reading thrillers, you cannot miss this fantastic and entertaining read!
I am absolutely loving this page turning series! The Silent Conspiracy continues and is the second book in the Jack Logan series. Two years from the first book The Network we find Jack Logan and his wife Taylor are loving their family time, with their son Evan and feel like life is perfect and returning back to normal. When Jack notices a string of murder-suicides, he starts wondering if someone is behind these cases? Jack being a reporter he digs into the investigation, and he uncovers a shocking discovery, a discovery that will shake his perfect family life to the core. Taylor whose a tv producer is producing a story on a class action suit against an insurance company, this suit has reached the Supreme Court. The victims of the insurance company are being denied life saving procedures, why is this? This husband and wife duo are determined to uncover all the clues and solve the crimes that are taking place, soon they come to the conclusion that their investigations may be related and their lives may be in danger! This book was fast paced and a page turner! The twists had my head spinning! I cannot wait for the next book fingers crossed in this series! Four stars!
The Silent Conspiracy” The Second in a series of investigative reporter, Jack Logan and his wife Taylor Parks, a television producer. Two years have passed since they worked together exposing the Institute, a secret organization trying to control high ranking political leaders. Just when their lives are starting to return to normal, enjoying the quiet life with their young son and dog, Jack starts working on a series of bizarre murder/suicides. Could someone be deliberately causing it? And then Taylor starts producing a story about a class action suit against an insurance company with ruthless policies that has reached the Supreme Court. Will life ever return to normal? So much more happens, a real roller coaster ride. Thank you Harper Collins Publishers for the great thriller.
L.C. Shaw takes us back to the Jack Logan adventure in book two of the Jack Logan series and it did not disappoint. Its two years later and now Jack and Taylor have a son to look after while also trying to save the world. Talk about juggling a lot of things at once! And, just like the first book, the action doesn’t take long to get going. The beginning pages gripped me and took me on a thrill ride from start to finish.
I love the sort of dark and twisted world that L.C. Shaw creates. She has imagined up some true evil and put it to life in the pages of her book and it makes for a very interesting and disturbing read. Somehow, I can’t get myself to stop reading. There were so many unexpected twists throughout the book so I was kept on my toes the entire time, never knowing what was going to happen or if I could even believe what was currently happening. And, the story ends on a total cliffhanger, making sure that there will definitely be a third book in the series!
I enjoy L.C. Shaw’s writing style a lot. She’s imaginative and unique in her storytelling and finds a way to totally engulf her audience in the story. I became a part of it and could see myself in the pages of the novel. Plus, most of the chapters are super short so I find myself reading her books very quickly! I highly recommend this series, but I do suggest starting with the first book in the series, The Network, first. I think it gives a lot of background information that would be otherwise confusing if you started with the second book first.
Thank you to Harper Paperbacks and L.C. Shaw for an early copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Whew! Talk about a wild ride! The Network was the very first book that I read in 2020, so as you can imagine, I have been anxiously awaiting this book to see what happens to Jack Logan and Taylor. The Silent Conspiracy is out tomorrow, and it is definitely a series you should check out. This one had me hooked from the very first page. After the first chapter I remember thinking to myself, "Welp, that escalated quickly." Shaw wastes no time getting right into the action of the story, which more books need these days. This book picks up two years after the first one. Jack and Taylor have been getting back to their normal lives, and they now have a young son. Soon, there are a series of bizarre murder/suicides that Jack begins working to solve. Taylor is currently working on an expose against a national insurance company. Jack and Taylor soon discovered that their cases are linked. Some of the things in this story hit a little too close to home (a new "cold" vaccine) and there were parts that made me so anxious. Enter Damon Crosse, Taylor's father who faked his death in the first book, but *surprise!* he is still alive, and he is after Taylor and Jack's baby boy. The coins present another interesting facet to this multi-layered story. The Silent Conspiracy ends with a massive cliffhanger. Usually I don't like this- I like my endings to be neatly tied together- but the cliffhanger works in this one, and has left my anxiously awaiting book #3. Thank you Harper Books for my copy!
This is the second book of the Jack Logan Series. I haven’t read the first book “The Network” but this book can be read as a stand-alone.
Taylor and Jack are getting used to their life together parenting Evan, Taylor’s son. Taylor is a media freelancer who is focusing on interviewing families whose insurance claims were rejected. And jack is investigating a series of random suicides and murders. They come together and begin to make connections between their discoveries and link up their stories to solve this case. they come to realize that Damon Cross, Evan’s biological father (from the previous book) has faked his death and is roaming freely pursuing something in Jack and Taylor’s life.
This was a thriller full of actions and tensions. A fast-paced, gripping, and suspenseful story. Although the story can be read as a stand-alone, I was a bit confused as at points it was tied back to the first book.
The storyline was very interesting and twisty, I was able to connect with the textured characters. I do recommend to thriller readers and I recommend that they read book one as well.
Thank you to @suzyapproved book tours for my copy of The Silent Conspiracy in exchange for my honest review. I was so excited when I saw LC Shaw was writing a follow up to The Network and I was not at all disappointed. If you haven’t read The Network definitely check it out, but you could also pick up the second Jack Logan novel and read it as a stand-alone.
The novel opens with a bang. A mother seemingly going postal out of nowhere and going on a murder spree before she kills herself. No explanation no trigger. We then find out that Jack is noticing that many similar instances have occurred in recent weeks. Jack and Taylor find themselves investigating these violent crimes and an insurance company who is seemingly prioritizing finances over patient’s lives.
This mystery is loaded with action and will keep you turning pages until the wee hours of the morning. I personally have thoroughly enjoyed this series so far and can not wait to see where it goes next! Also, in case you need a reminder LC Shaw is one half of the Liv Constantine writing duo, however I love how very very different the two styles are.
Thank you so much to TLC Book Tours and Harper Perennial for my gifted copy! 4.00-4.50 stars 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘺 opens up with a bang and takes off running! This is the second Jack Logan book but can be read as a stand-alone which I always appreciate (although I’ll definitely be picking up the first book soon). Packed with twists and turns, this thriller takes you on a wild journey reminiscent of The Da Vinci Code. Similarly, you will have to suspend belief at times but what conspiracy book doesn’t require that?! 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘺 is pulse-pounding and action-packed, ending on a shocking cliffhanger that will have readers counting down the days until book 3 is released.
After reading the first book in the series, “The Network”, I firmly stated I would not read the second in the series-but here I am and I did read the novel. The story continues directly from novel one and at the centre of the story are the 30 coins known to have special powers from biblical times. There is a subplot that has non-violent people suddenly have a psychotic breaks and commit acts of vile violence. At the end, the novelist left story lines wide open for a third book so those of you who like a nice tidy ending will be disappointed. I found the novel predictable and sadly in need of some thrills and chills. Rather, it was a book of average interest and I felt more complex details, sharper tension and original excitement were needed.
Thanks to Harper Books for a gifted copy for honest review.
WHAT. A. CLIFFHANGER. The second book in the Jack Logan series featuring reporter Jack Logan and producer Taylor Parks is a definite thrill ride. They think they've settled into a safe and comfortable life after taking down the Institute and embodiment of evil Damon Crosse, but unbeknownst to them, he's secretly still pulling strings horrifyingly close to them. This story has tons of chilling incidents, and the complex religious, political, and societal implications of what could happen if things go awry feels very prescient. There is a medical element to this story that felt frighteningly close to real life. But the biggest takeaway is THAT ENDING. There is definitely another book coming because the cliffhanger at the end is absolutely HEART POUNDING. You won't be able to read this one and not be waiting for whatever comes next.
I received this ARC and finish copy from for Harper Publisher honest Review.

Can't wait for her next book. #thesilentconpiracy
I will warn you on this: if you want to read The Silent Conspiracy, go read The Network (#1 in the series) first. I started The Silent Conspiracy, and about 3 chapters in, I was so confused. You know when you walk in on a conversation and try to catch up, but are too embarrassed to ask? Yeah that was me. 😂 So, I read The Network (🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️) and then proceeded to read The Silent Conspiracy.
I loved the twists and turns of this one. I felt like the characters I enjoyed their connection amongst each other and their dialogue. I felt like it kind of didn’t flow as well as The Network, and was hard to get the pacing down.
The ending leaves room for a #3, and I’m sure I’ll be reading that one as well. [if it happens, which I hope it does] Thank you Harper Perennial for the gifted copy!
I couldn't wait to get started reading this psychological thriller after reading The Network with its tantalizing last few words leaving a clue to the start of The Silent Conspiracy. I was on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what the next twist was in this story and it always took me by surprise. Brilliantly written suspense kept the pages turning and cleverly developing characters that had jaw dropping moments is only a few of the reasons you don't want to miss reading this book! The ending was gripping, and I sure hope that L.C. Shaw has another book to follow this one and soon!!
Good story for a continuation of her first book, I just hope she has a third book to finish the series. Let’s just say I was hoping for a better ending. Hopefully she will write another book that will finish off the antagonist. After all, who wants to see the bad guy win… not me!
(oops I didn't realize this was a sequel I haven't read the first one....)
oh god. a lot happened in this book. and I loved every page there were a few trope-y moments, but overall pretty good. I tore through it - suspense, drama, crime, and of course, conspiracy.
Parental rage at kids’ sporting events is nothing new, but Maggie Russell takes it to a new level when, during her son’s last Little League game before the playoffs, she screams at the coach to give her son some playing time.
Even Agatha, her good friend, thinks Maggie’s gone overboard, but it gets worse in L.C. Shaw’s second novel in her Jack Logan series, “The Silent Conspiracy” (Harper Paperbacks $16, 2020). Grabbing the knife Agatha is using to cut up apples for the team’s snack, Maggie marches down the bleachers and plunges it into the coach’s chest.
As she watches his body slump to the ground, an inner voice urges her to remedy the situation by turning the knife on herself. And so, she does.
It’s not your usual Little League confrontation. But to Logan, an investigative reporter, and Taylor Parks, a television producer, this isn’t just an isolated incident. There are news reports from around the country of mild-mannered, highly respected people committing murder and then suicide. It all seems to lead back to a case the couple had two years previously, when they were able to shut down a secret facility set up to brainwash political and media leaders.
Investigating the murders, Logan and Parks discover that Damon Crosse, the man who tried to kill them two years ago when they stopped his indoctrination plot, may have faked his death and is now planning revenge. But it’s even more complicated than that. The show Park is producing about a class action suit against a national insurance company may also be connected to Damon, the murder/suicides, and his new fiendish plans.
“'The Secret Conspiracy’ is a stand-alone book even though it ties back to ‘The Network,’ my first Jack Logan book,” said Shaw, the pen name for Lynne Constantine.
In addition to her own books, she writes with her sister Valerie. The best-selling team writes thrillers under the pseudonym Liv Constantine. Their books include “The Last Mrs. Parrish,” “The Last Time I Saw You" and “The Wife Stalker.”
The two are a prolific pair. Shaw said she’s just finished her fourth book with her sister and they already are plotting their fifth, while she is also at work on another book on her own.
“The challenge,” she said, “is to have endings that are inevitable but unexpected. We like to be tricky and to catch readers by surprise but to also have it all make sense in the end.”
For your information L.C. Shaw will be doing a series of virtual events. For a full list, visit her website, lcshawauthor.com/events/
Here are several that are that are free and upcoming:
Almost two years ago, Jack Logan and Taylor Parks exposed Damon Crosse’s Institute and ended the indoctrination occurring there. Now married, and with a toddler son, the family is finally returning to some normalcy.
But a series of bizarre murder/suicide events, coupled with the discovery that Damon Crosse faked his suicide and is actually alive, signal a sinister new plan for destruction. Can Jack and Taylor stop the megalomaniac madman before his devastating plans come to fruition?
This captivating story, the second in the Jack Logan series, follows the premise laid out in “The Network” and, although there is some backstory, readers may still feel a bit lost if they haven’t read the previous story. The characters are well-drawn and complex; several share their points of view with readers as they help tell a story of political maneuvering, manipulation, and corruption.
As with the first book in the series, there is a focus on secret societies and hidden, centuries-old, must-find relics, but here the story is surrounding them is both cohesive and credible. There’s an underlying tension throughout most of the telling of the tale, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Since the characters are ignorant of several important pieces of information that readers already know, there’s a sort of “what’s going to happen” suspense that keeps the pages turning.
Several plot twists take the story in unexpected directions, but astute readers will figure out exactly what’s going to happen before the big reveal.
However, two troublesome circumstances plague the story-telling and, as a result, lower its rating. First, there’s the tired, overused, exasperating, pulled-out-of-left-field trope of the heretofore unknown character suddenly appearing to maneuver the story, an occurrence that causes suddenly-vexed readers to roll their eyes in utter annoyance. Second, there is absolutely no resolution, leaving the entire story to end with a HUGE cliffhanger, a frustrating choice that is sure to leave readers feeling disappointed and more than a bit cheated.
