I have followed Mike on twitter for several years (plus he is a fellow Kansas Citian) and found his takes to be thoughtful and progressive. He describes my solo practice with accuracy and has given me pause on next steps to get out is the churn.
This book put in evidence the old practices in law that keep creating inneficient law systems. The author promotes the idea of specialization and creation of value by using the "legal supply chain". Just for the record, the author focuses on the change of old fashion law mentality and invites you to see the big picture (the legal services are a network connections, you need to find your path no matter if you are a entrepeneur, expert, etc).
Specialize, collaborate, then live long and prosper.
Every lawyer and JD candidate should read this book. Reading this book provided me with meaningful industry insights and inspiration. Not only that, Mike is an engaging storyteller with a great sense of humor. This book feels like taking a class with the coolest teacher on the coolest subject. I laughed as much as I learned: a lot.
An easy reading book with plenty of insights and confidence boosters
A book with a fun tone and an interesting set of analytical frameworks and insights concerning the systems within which lawyers deliver legal services. By breaking down the structural elements of the modern law firm Mike offers recommendations on how to improve client experience and your professional life as a lawyer.
