First in a new series. Boom!

First up, I need to comment on the beautiful poem on the first page. It spoke of poignant longing and regret, and as I read it, I just cried. I needed to know the writer of this poem and the story behind it.

And so, I started Tinley Blake’s Bi-weekly series involving the unspoken happenings at Worthington Prep.

I will admit that Bully romances are not my jam, but, Tinley Blake’s writing is. I will only read this trope from author’s I already know and admire, and I certainly admire the books of hers that I’ve read. Plus, in building the plot in this first instalment, Ms. Blake has caught and held my attention.

I am invested, and I can’t stop thinking about Calliope and what happened to her right at the end. Any small footing she had at her new school has been taken away. I need the next episode yesterday!!!! As far as a series goes, this one is a 5 Star start!

This is one exceptional start to this series, Liar Liar and these young characters, Kiah and Calliope’s families have known each other for years. When Calliope’s father is under investigation all their money and possessions are seized and she goes to live with her mom at her best friends wealthy home and her brother stays with their father. Kiah is best friends with her brother and befriends Calliope, helping her over the summer but when high school starts all bets are off. Kiah is the ring leader of the bullies who torment and make her life horrible. These kids are all from wealthy families and they attend an elite school and having a new student is very unusual. There us an unknown event that occurred between Kiah and Calliope that has not been revealed but it’s the start of Calliope’s bumpy road at her new high school. Calliope is heartbroken over the recent treatment by Kiah and through the first day of school she does her best to keep her head held high and then it’s all taken away in some mean prank... The anguish I felt for Calliope has my emotions all over the place for her. I am anxiously waiting for the second part of this one of kind story! This is just the first introduction to a new series from this author who has a gift of writing as evidenced by the opening, moving poem. From there readers meet Calliope and Kiah as they are students attending Worthington Prep. Kiah is best friends with Calliope’s brother but he is away with Calliope’s father. Her father is under investigation and Calliope’s possessions have been confiscated. She and her mother have moved into her mother’s friend’s house with Kiah. There is some tension between Kiah and Calliope that is not discussed but he treats her acrimoniously as she enters the school at the start of the new term. Through it all Calliope does her best to keep her head up and make it through. After all that Calliope has on her plate, it is easy to empathize with the challenges and the emotions that she is experiencing. This book leaves many questions open as it feels as if there is not enough to the story and will have readers wanting more. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.

My bi-weekly addiction!

First up, I need to comment on the beautiful poems on the first pages of each episode. They are all deep and thoughtful, but the first one spoke of poignant longing and regret, and as I read it, I just cried.

Plus, in building the plot in these first episodes, Ms. Blake has caught and held my attention.

I am invested, and as soon as I see the notifications land in my mailbox, I am all over the book like white on rice because my addiction to this bi-weekly serial is as strong as it was when I was a kid buying comics!

Tinley Blake has a few plots and undercurrents that are continuing to build so in the short episodes there is a lot going on. To be honest, I’d have liked for these to be a little bit longer, but at this stage in the series, they’re still 4.5 Star short reads for me. 💙

I love this start and can't wait for each new episode!!! Kiah, Calliope and her brother all grew up together. Her brother and Kiah had been friends since they were placed on the playmate as infants by their moms. When Callipoe's family loses everything, her and her mom move in with Kiah's. Her brother decides to stay with their father for school. In this episode there is tension between the two and for some reason Kiah does not want her there and is trying to scare her away. Worthington Prep is fill of privileged kids and it makes it hard for Calliope to figure out who she can trust. What has Kiah so bother by her? Will the one person who friends her be true? What happens to the video that was taken? I just can't wait for the next episode!!!

I would like to preface this review by saying that I typically don't read teenage romance. The reason being that I usually find the characters and their actions too immature for me to understand or relate to. I found this not to be the case with Liar, Liar. This book had so much mystery and intrigue that you couldn't help but turn the page. Tinley does an amazing job in building the story and the suspense. Only she could have me reading about a group of high school students. She truly is a gifted story teller. The characters are well written, leaving a bit of the unknown to keep you guessing. I really look forward to reading the next in the series and watching the characters and their interactions develope more. I received an ARC in return for an honest review.

Liar Liar is the first episode in a new bully romance. Calliope’s world is completely changed when her dad is arrested and all of her family’s possessions are seized by law enforcement. Calliope and her mother move in with her mother’s best friend and her son, Kiah and she has to change schools.

Calliope and Kiah seem to hate each other, but you can tell there is something brewing underneath all of that hate. I have so many questions after reading this episode. What happened between Kiah and Calliope? Why does he want to ruin her? This was a short, fast read and I can’t wait to read the next episode to see what happens next!!

In typical bully romance style, there aren’t really very many characters in here that I actually like. (So far.) Our “hero” could give lessons on how to be a jacka$$ and he has a whole posse of sycophants eager to be just as vile as he is. But there’s this thread of intrigue and mystery running just underneath the surface that makes me desperate to know more. What’s Kiah hiding? What’s going on at Worthington? Will Calli win out in the end? I’m dying to get my hands on the next.

Bullies are a lot of air time in books right now, the reasons vary. This time the lies and sins of the father seem to lead the way or is it more. Lies lies and more lies surround her and everything she knows. What she does know is that nothing and no one are who they say and she can't trust anyone's actions, especially when they change for no reason. It's an emotional read and unfortunately someone is actually dealing with it. It's well written, leaving you with characters you want to protect and others you want to choke. Can't wait for the next episode.

This is a fast read about Calliope’s first day at Worthington Prep. After her father’s arrest and they lose everything, her mom and her move in with her mom’s best friend. Kiah is the Marten’s son is asked to show her around at school. That doesn’t happen, but why? This read will pull you in and leave you wanting the next episode NOW, lol. I can’t wait to read the next episode to see what happens, after Calliope left the bonfire and what happened there.

This quick read definitely pulls you in. I’m new to this type of series where they’re just quick short reads.

I was pulled in from the beginning after I understood what was happening. You’re quickly thrown into the book, to what feels like the middle of Kiah and Calli’s lives. As the book goes on, you are able to figure out more and more of what is going on. This has the perfect set up so far for a bully romance, with characters based in high school.

There were a few grammar mistakes but the book/“episode” itself was good. I’ll be anxiously awaiting the next episode to find out what happens next after Calli leaves the bonfire. What a whirlwind of a first day for the poor girl.

Life is but a dream…NOT!
After her father’s arrest and losing everything Cali and her mom move in with her mom’s best friend. Kiah is supposed to show her around school and introduce her…NOT! There’s no end to the meanness she is forced to endure. Will it continue? Will it get worse? Is there any chance things will get better? Book 2 please! Although this story is harsh, it is most definitely highly possible even probable.

This is the start of a bully serial; it's a quick read but oh so captivating! Worthington Prep, the school Kiah and his (former) friend Calliope both attend. Now there's history here but it's not all revealed. In fact, it's bad history that leads to some pretty bad behaviour amongst the rich kids. A great intro to the characters in this book, and it’s fast-paced. It doesn’t end on a cliffhanger but things clearly aren’t resolved and this is one story I have to follow!

Ah, so the mystery of the new girl at Worthington High Prep. This is the first episode/part of this novella. I can't wait to find out more about Calli and Kiah. Secret feelings that they somehow don't want to announce to their mother's ( who happen to be best friends) Hm? Darn you...LOL the mystery awaits. Luckily we don't have to wait too long for the 2nd episode. Tinley's blake is becoming one of my favorite writers. I highly recommend this to read if you like Bully romance.

Good but short -A very short read. I wished it was longer. I prefer books that give you a chance to sink your teeth into. Still a good read though. This story is about Calliope’s first day at Worthington Prep. After her father’s arrest and they lose everything, her mom and her move in with her mom’s best friend. Kiah is the Marten’s son is asked to show her around at school. I just received the next book, so I’m looking forward to finding out what’s next.

Fun & Enjoyable Read!!

I really enjoyed this type of story episode. As the story started, I had mix feeling about Kiah, as he was acting soo like a true dick towards Calliope it was making me mad, especially since he was best friends with Tane, her brother.

But alas, as the story started to developed, as with most bully romance's, so did his reasoning for his behavior along with his denial!!

Ready for episode 2!!!

The episode was great from page one! Callie is the new girl at an elite school. She finds that there is nobody she can trust. Kiah is the guy she likes, but he is horrible to her. She is set-up by the kids at school, to lose her only friend. This is a quick read with a cliffhanger ending setting us up for a great bully romance!

This a quick episode about Calliope's first day at a new rich kid's high school. She fit in with this type of crowd before her father got on the wrong side of the law and lost everything. Calli and her mom are now living with friends whose son Kiah hates her. These characters are very young and the story leaves off leaving you hanging until the next one.

This is a quick bully romance read involving Calliope and Kiah. Calliope just moved in with a family friend after her dad is arrested. Worthington High is for the elite and Kiah is King there, he doesn’t want Calliope going there, will he make her leave? Entertaining and intriguing, looking forward to more.

#1 in This Serial Story!!

Calliope has had her life turned upside down. With her dad in trouble, she and her mom move in with old friends. Their son Kiah instead of helping her adapt is making her life miserable. Underlying secrets and intrigue, in this gritty start to what promises to be an intriguing read.

book 2 & 3 are the same as book one

Don’t bother reading as all the books are the same as this one. All with the same ending & since there aren’t anymore since 2020 you’ll never find out what happens. It’s disappointing that there isn’t really a ending to what happens.
All Tinley Blake’s book I have read I would give 5 stars, but this one I can only give 1.

New town, new school. Calliope is a small fish in the shark tank. One of those sharks is Kiah. He's out to destroy her and doesn't matter who gets hurt in the process. This may be episode one but things are just getting started.
