In the aftermath of a devastating act of war in the South China Sea, the core of the earth has been exposed and the magnetic field that protects the planet from the sun’s radiation has been compromised. But with the destruction, a miraculous enigma has also been discovered. From areas around the war zone a group of mystically atypical baby girls was born, the Cold Daughters. Because of the primitive cultures into which some of the children are born, fear and superstition threaten their safety. Dr. Nia Bomani, lead geneticist at the Huffman Children’s Research Institute in Australia, is drafted to study these odd infants and falls in love with the first one born in her territory, Hope Darling. After her parents abandon her at the institute, Nia moves to adopt Hope, and their unique family begins to take shape. Together, Nia and her mentor/mothers, Drs. Claudia Dereksen and Ahi Mulpuru, surround the sweet Hope with love and acceptance. The trio of women scientists also become champions of the Cold Daughters collective and attempt to guide them safely to their destiny as part of the Solstice Project. The Cold Daughters will ultimately prove that sometimes “Nature provides her own solution to the problems created by man.”
What a treat to encounter these 'cold daughters and their heroic short lives - science and fiction coupled in story hard to put down ! Kudos my talented friend! Deb Blackwood
This debut novel is outstanding! I loved the story of the mother and daughter, and could relate with some aspects of my life. The story was interesting and I am not real "sciencey", but I enjoyed it and had a hard time putting it down!!!
I give the book 5 stars and the author, she deserves 10 stars 💜💜💜
I could not put this book down! The story itself was imaginative and the author has a great command of the language. It was a short read but very fascinating. I highly recommend this book.
