Trust is knowing your worth.

I had some mixed feelings about this book. For most of the book I enjoyed the banter and the budding relationship between the two main characters; FAITH AND JAXON.

Proceeding into the story plot, I was extremely frustrated with the Faith. While I did understand the predicament with her controlling parents I think she really had needed to grow a back bone the minute she entered adulthood.

The potential was there for this book. This was a cute, lighthearted story about a very introverted girl and a guy who had walls around his heart. The music, songs and lyrical prose that united them was intriguing and it fitted them both to a tee.

I conceive the story about creating music together to help get rid of both characters deeply flaws, was thoroughly thought out and in doing so, the author created a solid plot line and likable characters.

All the same, the angst level was Overkill and oftentimes I found myself bored with the repetition, and I was already done and over it before the characters became intimate.

Overall, it was a light, pleasurable read that is recommendable.

I absolutely adored this book. It was like the author took a slice of my life and wrote about it. Like Faith, I write song lyrics, don’t eat meat, have social anxiety and am trying to find my voice. The one thing I don’t have is a “Jaxon”. :/ At first to be honest when Jax was first introduced I didn’t like him, I wasn’t expecting him to be so rude and stalkerish. But as I kept reading, I grew to love Jax and Faith’s love connection through music. I love how Jaxon brought out the side of Faith that she always was meant to be but was suppressed all these years because of her father. I highly recommend this book because the author really spoke to my soul and my love for writing song lyrics. If you love music and romance, you’ll love the story of Jax and Faith.

Very Enjoyable

I.can be honest I was getting a little annoyed with Faith and that shyness, she just couldn't seem to over come. The story moves at a steady pace that gives you time enough to enjoy the telling of this love affair and fight to be heard. The writer gives us a neat little romance and wraps it up just as nicely. I would have loved to have gotten just a couple of scenes with the ex girlfriend and maybe with the goof Allen. Overall a good way to spend some time.

This was a sweet falling in love story. Faith Powell comes from a very strict controlling background ( her father) and Jaxon comes from a hard working family. The two meet by accident and their fate was sealed. Faith is very shy and her solice is music while Jaxon’s heart is music. The roommates were all good and did a good job of being supporting characters. Faith’s father was totally out of control and unfortunately his wife didn’t put her foot down until the family almost fell apart. The control over Faith even as a college freshmen was extreme and I’m glad we saw her slowly build her voice and come out of her shyness and anxiety. I love Jaxon even though he was fighting his own demons he was also fighting for Faith. I’m glad the two were able to finally make sweet music together and just be. I will definitely be reading more books by this author because she really writes a thorough story.

OMG 😱!!!! Speechless, happy, excited and beautiful story….

I know for a fact that after today, I will never leave a MS. West book on my TBR for too long, because after what I just read 🫣🫣baby this is and was the bomb.
Jaxon was so the right guy for Faith regarding everything and all things because Faith would have been taking advantage of, ten times over. He was relentless, knew what and who he wanted and not to forget, handsome and down to earth considering his background.
Faith was the sweetest thing ever. Loyal, but extremely quiet and shy. The biggest problem with her that kind of made me look at her sideways and questioned why am I reading this book, was her lack of assurance. She needed to grow a pair and by god, when she did, WOW she was a force to be recognized, because she wasn’t letting nothing pass her by.
But can we talk about the side characters: WOW 🤩 from Bree, to Sarai to Travis to Pete to Chase to Scott and Colton????? I believed that’s what made this book worked for me completely. Rarely lately have I encountered a book in any genre/trope where you didn’t have jealousy, envy, cheating, family drama or just plain malicious nonsense. MS. West was able to give us a story, that was very relatable and just plain everyday life of love, and family angst with the best HEA with goals achieved and struggles addressed.
I tell you something though, I know this is worth a 2nd read for sure…. Grab it and make yourself happy because you definitely will be after reading this story. ❤️💙👏🙌

yeesh..

I really wanted to like this book! From the blurb, I thought that I would really resonate with the FMC because I relate to her. This premise of a shy, introverted girl with a love for music, and her controlling father. Jaxons character at first kind of rubbed me the wrong way..? I’m not sure, I didn’t like how they met and how Jax kind of stalked her even knowing that she has social anxiety. Like he just didn’t care..??? The stalker trope itself isn’t really a red flag for me. I think I just didn’t like the way it was executed.

From the first couple chapters, I noticed that the writing was a little.. juvenile..? A little cringy maybe. The way that Faith and Jaxon met was a little hard to read. I enjoyed watching Faith’s journey to becoming more confident and wanting to break free from her dad’s strict control. It was a little unrealistic how fast it was though.

Jax’s character took some time for me to like. His precious relationship trauma really messed him up. I really like his family though. Even his brother. His brother’s struggle with his addiction was the only thing that was realistic to me.

It was a happy ending, but it felt rushed and really unrealistic.. especially the intervention with Faith’s dad..

Really cute young adult interracial romance. Faith is an 18 year old freshman in college who is naive and under the strict control of her father. She majors in finance at his urging even though her passion is music. Enter Jaxon Knight. He's a 21-year old senior majoring in music at the same school. They meet at a party that Faith's roommate drags her to where the two don't exactly hit it off, but Jaxon is intrigued and tells her to write a song for him. This leads to a cute love story of a young woman who suffers from serious anxiety and shyness and an outgoing budding rock star who at first, I don't care for but he grows on you. More like he grows as a person through his relationship with faith and falling in love with her. He encourages her to be brave and live her truth, to be a singer and study music and stand up to her very overbearing father. I really liked this book and recommend it. Cute story.

I was on and off with this book. The first 3 chapters I hated Jaxon. I did not like how he spoke to Faith. He definitely has some anger issues. I kind of like him but at the same time I don’t and I get it. Past relationship fucked you up but my god. Now with Faith I understand the social anxiety and being shy I relate a lot but my god I wish she would have stood up to her father earlier on. Her father is insufferable and she just went a long with it. It was a nice cute story and I did enjoy it. The music aspect I liked a lot. I did get a bit bored but still enjoyable.

Young Love

Jaxson and Faith had a rocky start when they first met. However, their chemistry is smoking hot. They have passion for music. Although, they have some crazy drama in their relationship. Jaxson helps Faith find her voice in music and to stands up to her father. This book is a good read because it gives you the ups and downs of a beautiful relationship.

Well developed stories. Always.

Your stories are wonderful because your characters have depth. You are masterful at painting the full picture and allowing us to go on an emotional journey. There’s romance, suspense, and resolution. And you avoid the misleading stereotypes that some authors typecast black women as. That’s refreshing. Thank you!

Meh read like a high-school romance.
Was too cringy for me, and I had to skip a lot to find out the ending.

eh

She was an 18 year old acting like an 18 year old. The MMC had a slight anger issue that he needed to get under control. The MFC had some growing to do, but who didn’t at 18.

Love ! Love ! Love this book !

This is one of my best reads of the year so far. I could relate to Faith a lot when it comes to a strict household and missing out on your youth because of it . Faith was a great character and I loved to see her progress and how she fought for her freedom . Even though at times she irritated me on how much she let her dad control her or her doing things she promised Jaxon she wouldn’t anymore.

I loved Jaxon ! He’s my new book boyfriend. I love how relentless he was in inserting hisself in Faith’s life and it was sweet to see him open up to loving someone again after swearing love off . This is such a good read (though at around 88% I was ready for things to be wrapped up) I thoroughly enjoyed this book .

I love this book sm ( we don’t question why I took so long)

I related to Faith a lot in this book and I love how Jaxen was always there for her no matter what and understand her . I love how they didn’t leave each other from the mistakes that happened. I love it and always will.

I just realize does Jax have anger issues or something ?😭
